No news here tonight (I’m working on bigger documents behind the scenes). But I can’t resist some immodest self promotion (just in case you missed it on Watts Up). Number nine climate blog. Fourth in skeptic-climate-blogs world wide. (Yes, I know, it changes week by week, and numbers are not as important as who is reading.)

The graph is done by Willis Eschenbach.

Anthony mentioned a poll that Jeff at the Air Vent is doing. It’s an interesting poll about manners and honest blogging, a subject close to my heart.

BTW: These links will take you to My favourite posts, my INDEX and my ARCHIVES.

McDs is also the no. 1 restaurant worldwide. I don’t mind eating there from time to time, but there are much better places to eat.

Hey don’t be hard on P Gosselin, he’s just started his own sceptical take away restaurant. Of course he likes is own cooking better! Good luck sir knight as you tilt at German windmills for us all.

    Congratulations.
It can’t be all hardcore skeptics visiting this site, Jo. The silent undercurrent of skepticism must be delivering new readers on a daily basis.
More and more people are realising what a one-sided tale the MSM has been telling. I bet Kevin Rudd knows how that feels…

Onya Jo! It just goes to show what a well conducted, quality site can offer- it obviously attracts many readers from around the world. And congrats also to the commenters, who conduct themselves with courtesy, intelligence, and professionalism. I for one wouldn’t hang around a site that featured flaming, rudeness, and ignorance.

    Keep it up!

Very well done. Your site is our favourite and certainly the most accessible and entertaining of those listed.
While popularity isn’t everything, it shows the message getting through to a mass audience.

And in the FairFax press (Age) we get the ole, we must return to being cavemen thesis to have less impact on the environment:

    http://www.theage.com.au/environment/australias-global-footprint-one-of-the-worst-20100505-uape.html

I was pleasantly surprised at how low Australia ranked to be honest. It is hardly a reasonable comparison because the European countries caused most of their environmental damage centuries ago. You are hard pressed to find too much land in Holland, for instance, that has not been touched by man. Then again, they have decided not to trim road verges anymore… they are allowing them to go back to a natural state… so that makes everything all right 🙂

    Congratulations again Joanne.

I really enjoy reading your blog because I always learn something, and because I think the civility of the discussion is much more respectful than on a lot of other blogs. You deserve every accolade and award you receive, and I hope I speak for a lot of other people here that we both admire and respect your candor, humor and professionalism in fighting the AGW crowd. I feel like we are winning, but there are I am sure, many more skirmishes and battles to be fought before the majority of the people who matter ralize that attempting to control natural climate cycles is a futile undertaking.

Looking forward to your next post.

Budget axe could hit CSIRO jobs
THE nation’s top scientists are bracing for up to 500 job cuts as speculation mounts about changes at the CSIRO…
Sam Popovski, secretary of the CSIRO Staff Association, urged the organisation to come clean on any job cuts.
“There’s been some information that’s been released that indicates that there may be up to 500 redundancies at CSIRO in the next financial year,” Mr Popovski said.
He said staff were anxious about their jobs. The CSIRO has 6500 employees working at more than 50 sites around the country and overseas…
“We really want CSIRO to go onto the public record so that staff can be reassured. People need to know to plan their science careers … and to be certain of their job security.”…

“job security” is so yesterday, sam…

Pat, can you imagine what 500 out of work scientists will have to say once they are out? Holy cow this is big and it is in AU the next step will be domino’s around the world….

I still want to know why we have had no trolls for 2 weeks? Could it be they are preparing their resume’s and looking for new jobs?

Nothing subtle about old MattB! But at least he shows we can disagree and still stay relatively civil – which is the secret of this site. By keeping the venom out of the posts, it allows people to discuss the issues like adults – unlike some sites we know! Congratualtions, Jo.

    Cheers,

Seriously I can’t believe that some big business backer of the liberal party isn’t buying the chocolates. That’s not to say “oooh big oil” or whatever, but seriously if anyone owes you chocolates it is them.

Looks like some MISUNDERSTOOD and thus weren’t happy about my McD’s comment above.
I was commenting more about WUWT. His site gets the most traffic, but that doesn’t mean it’s the best. Better less popular, but more substance, like at CA.

Willis above is comparing apples to oranges. I don’t think one can compare Climate Depot with let’s say CA. One is specialised in communication and media and the other is focused on the statistics of temperature reconstructions. They are very very different. The above statistics have little meaning. But congratulations to Jo for the great progress. I find myself checking in here everyday.

MattB – I didn’t realise I was some big business backer of the liberal party.

I also run a website/forum which is for free for the posters so I understand Joanne’s data costs. I don’t accept your stupid assumption that she is supported by big oil or big politic. So I occasionally buy her chocolates and I encourage others to do the same because I enjoy this site and the company it keeps.

Now why don’t you just move on – you do nothing here except waste expensive data with your pathetic arguments and you obviously aren’t prepared to put your money where your mouth is.

    bye!

    Congratulations!

I am glad to see that your blog is getting good traffic.

We need all the rationality we can get on the internet.

I am however displeased to see Al$$$$$Gore be higher than the far better and rational ICECAP blog.

It is simply amazing that Gore is STILL getting that much traffic after a number of idiotic statements he has made in recent months.I do not see that happening with De Aleo at all,who has been rational all along.

We still have a long ways to go and must not give up trying to educate the public,to counter the obvious to us scaremongering tripes,to help the fight for liberty and life.
