Radio interview and 100,000th comment!

We are just 40 odd comments today from the 100,000th lucky commenter!!! Wait for it, we’ll be sending you on a world tour, a dinner for two, I might just post the Grand Winner both Skeptics Handbook I and II 🙂

Kerry Lutz

And for those who would like some weekend listening I did an interview with Kerry Lutz at the Financial Survival Network. (It’s 15 or 20 minutes). The overlap between skeptics of government science and skeptics of government money grows more obvious. We ranged through climategate to ad hominen arguements, the art of rhetoric, the regulating class, blaming “free markets” for the failures of unfree ones and spanish solar panels among other things. It was 11pm for me, somehow I could (mostly) string the words together.

PS: The comments counter is on the right hand column under “statistics”. (99,982…)

UPDATE: A Winner!

OK. Doing the numbers behind the scenes, it appears (!!!) Bob Malloy hit the big 100k, with Redc being mere seconds behind. So I’ll send books to both of you. Unless I’m wrong, I think Bob pipped redc for the title. :-) (Gee Aye deserves an honorable mention for comment 99,999 and 100,002).

Note that as I write this, the stats are

100,023 Approved

0 Pending

15,567 Spam

That spam number are just the ones in the spam queue right now (approx 14 days worth).
But (Egad) we missed the really Big clock-over where the total spam hit *1 million*.

“Akismet has protected your site from 1,103,728 spam comments already.”

So there’s the real victor of blog comments – the bots. 90% of comments are spam. Thank goodness for the Askimet filter. You can see why, when your comments disappear into the filter, they will never be seen again unless you ask our starring wonderful dedicated and wise moderators to fish them out (support AT joannenova.com.au). I stopped checking the spam filter in August 2009.

Thank you to commenters and moderators!

The site would not be the same without you :-)

Oddly, I’m looking forward to the ‘I can change your mind’ doco and Q and A on the ABC, mainly to see how stacked the audience is.

I know things like this infuriate me, but it gives insight into thinking.

Almost 15,000 votes counted now, and it’s 52% Dismissive. I wonder how much of a mention this poll will actually get.

I submitted a question for the panel, but you tell me what chance it will have of making it to the panel.

    Tony.

They will keep on running the poll until they get the results they want – you have been warned.

Rereke’s right: they will keep polling until they get the right answer. A week or so ago, 67% of respondents were “dismissive”; now it’s 52%. Regular ABC types now dominate the numbers after the initial flurry of interest from non-aligned blogs.

          That 52% is holding.

In the 42 hours since the original comment I made above, there has been close on 2,000 votes, and it’s still holding at that 52%.

The second highest percentage is ‘Alarmed’, holding at 26%, half of Dismissive.

I wonder how the ABC will address this, and they’ll have to mention it in the Q and A mainly, because I would suspect that the Doco has already been finished.

As Rereke mentions, they’ll keep the poll running until they get the required result, but if so, consider this.

It’s an easy thing to check really, because we have the number of total votes now, and that stands at just on 17,000.

So for the ‘Alarmed’ to take over as the prominent total, there would need to be a further 5,000 votes, and (virtually) all of them would have to be in that ‘Alarmed’ category.

So then, some of you may ask, why would I bother harping on this?

          Consider this.

The fair way to do it would be for the ABC to close the Poll at the start time of the doco.

However, to possibly achieve the correct result, I’m willing to bet that the ABC will mention (probably at the start and finish) during the doco that there is a Poll running. The doco will (probably obviously) be slanted towards the pro side (Alarmed) and now that those people aligned in that direction will be (suddenly) aware that there is a Poll, they will do the required thing and go and vote, so, lo and behold, when the Q and A session starts, the desired result will be in place for the ABC to gloat that they are on the winning team in supporting the ‘Alarmed’ case.

However, by having these early results documented here, we can in fact point to these and make a case that the results have in fact been manipulated.

I know some may think of this as conspiracy theory, but hey, after the (end) results are in, it would be too easy to say that they were once well in favour of the other side.

I understand that watching things like this doco are in effect giving credence to the other side, but in reality, we need to be watching things like this.

Almost related I see Professor Flannery and John Doyle’s new doco aired its first episode last night. Didn’t take long for Professor Tim to mention Climate Change, and it’s noticeable that in this, their third doco series now, the pair of them have become even more strident and condescending. It’s become less of a doco and more of a platform for their opinions structured around good backdrops.

          Tony.

If I was an ABC producer wishing to influence people, here is what I’d want Tony.

I’d want the ‘dismissive’ and ‘unconcerned’ to far outweigh the alarmist options.
At the end of the programme (the purpose of which is to CHANGE PEOPLES MINDS) I’d run a new poll (participants will hopefully be pinko leftard commo ABC watchers, GetUp members, Pravda on the Yarra readers etc) the poll should show a much higher percentage ‘alarmed’ and bingo, we’ve changed peoples minds.

So for those of you who hurriedly took the poll and ended up being ‘dismissive’ etc, you’ve fallen for the ABC Commie propaganda trap. I suggest you go back and ‘alarm’ yourselves now, then be ‘dismissive’ after the show.

I think Baa Baa you are right I read somewhere else today that they are going to run another poll after the show in which the alarmists will pile in and hey presto we have convinced a whole heap of deniers of global warming.
The interesting thing will be to see if they change the questions and if they don’t if the same answers you gave to the first poll result in a different classification to the first poll.
I mean how desperate can the warmists be maybe it’s time us skeptics boycotted these show trials altogether.Just turn up when the alarmists are prepared to debate 1 on 1

I just listened to your radio interview Jo and learned several things. But I loved the story of the subsidy for solar power which was generated at night! You can certainly count on some people to find a way to defraud any system involving money anywhere!

The bit about Climategate was interesting and you’re right that a lot of the revelations were already known. I’m just finishing the book “Red Hot Lies” by Christopher C. Horner published in 2008 and I have to keep telling myself that all this was before Climategate!

As far as the education system goes, kids aren’t stupid and I’m sure many of them know they’ve been conned and will consign Al Gore’s propaganda to the same place as Father Christmas and the Easter Bunny, but without the same affection. Hopefully when they become teachers they will be successful in restoring balance about the climate debate into the curriculum, or better still assigning it to the same status as religious instruction was when I was at school.

In most countries based on the Westminster style of Parliament, it is the central government that sets the national school syllabus – so it is the bureaucrat theoreticians who are culpable for the climate rubbish.

In the US, it is the School Districts board members who set the syllabus for the geographic area – which is why Intelligent Design is so popular.

Both subjects are have the same degree of scientific rigour.

ElliottCB:How convenient for you that there is an alternative reality to escape into in which “models” are the basis for anything. Liked this comment you made on the other site:

“It’s just not possible to simulate the real atmosphere without making assumptions, estimates or decisions on which parts to simplify or omit. Since all those things rely on the opinions of the modelers, no matter how well intentioned or educated you guys think you are, a model is a glorified opinion”.

You obviously understand how models are put together and used.

Too bad the warmers only use them for cover to hide behind.

    Johnathon,

Try this: … “there is overwhelming evidence right, but you can’t name even one paper? Surely an erudite, well mannered man such as yourself has looked at the evidence.”

Later when you really want to tip him over the edge, allude to the tendency of some people to grovel to their masters. [You couldn’t be one of those gullible fools who just obeys authority…] The term “useful idiot” springs to mind.

(Remember guys like Elliot think they are “independent” thinkers.)

    (wash rinse repeat)

PS: Don’t forget the link http://joannenova.com.au/2012/2010/01/is-there-any-evidence/ that explains why most of their “evidence” is not evidence, and why the rest is irrelevant or only implies 1.2C or less.

PPS: Be polite – ask him what point is your obvious lie – you want to correct it immediately of course… (remember, their arguments are all bluff).

will listen to your interview tomorrow, jo.

VERY long list of corruption in this piece, well worth reading all, cos it’s happening or is going to happen everywhere. KPMG quotes are priceless:

20 April: Vancouver Sun: GORDON HOEKSTRA: Carbon Trading: Projects outside trust’s criteria but reaping benefits criticized
When the provincial government set the rules for the new carbon-trading economy, they were clear.
Public institutions would be compelled to contribute money to a fund to compensate for producing greenhouse gas emissions.
The money would be administered by the Pacific Carbon Trust, a Crown corporation, and used to assist private companies in B.C. with innovative projects to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions…
A Vancouver Sun investigation has found that 22 of 25 projects were already underway when they were given millions of dollars in incentives by the trust to reduce their emissions.
The trust argues the rules allowed money to be awarded retroactively to companies for projects that started after Nov. 29, 2007. That was the cutoff date set by provincial legislation, which allowed for retroactive compensation if companies could successfully argue a project wouldn’t have proceeded without trust funding.
The Sun also found that some of the projects awarded money from the trust had already reaped benefits from tax reductions, fuel savings and other government subsidies — in one case a $100-million grant from Ottawa…
Simon Fraser University economist Mark Jaccard says many of the trust’s retroactive payments are bogus and were not the key to making the projects viable.
He estimates that as few as 25 per cent of the projects were legitimate…
Independent North Cariboo MLA Bob Simpson says he believes the Pacific Carbon Trust was scrambling to find new projects to give money to as capital dried up during the global financial crisis, so instead approved projects that had already happened.
“It’s a shell game,” said Simpson, who has been a harsh critic of the scheme…
The accounting firm KPMG, which has an arm that qualifies greenhouse gas reduction projects, has validated and verified several projects awarded money by the Carbon Trust.
However, KPMG said it is restricted in providing that evidence because of confidentiality agreements with its company clients.
Suffice to say, I think those documents all exist,” said Chris Ridley-Thomas, president of KPMG Performance Registrar Inc…

a final laugh. wish there were at least some pollies speaking up here…besides Barnaby:

21 April: Radio Iowa: O. Kay Henderson: State senators disagree over “climate change” (audio)
On the eve of “Earth Day” this Sunday a handful of state senators got into a partisan squabble over “climate change.”
It was Senator Rob Hogg, a Democrat from Cedar Rapids, who got things started by reading a statement from a group of Iowa religious leaders, including his own Catholic bishop.
“This was the statement: ‘Climate change is one of the most pressing challenges facing our world today and as religious leaders representing diverse faith traditions we are called to reaffirm our committment to be responsible stewards of Earth’s resources and to act in love to our neighbors both locally and globally,’” Hogg said. “‘Scientists, including those representing 28 Iowa colleges and universities who recently released a statement, have warned us that changes in global climate patterns are brining more extreme weather events to Iowa, the United States and our world.’”
That prompted Republican Senator David Johnson of Ocheyedan to ridicule the idea that humans are the main cause of climate change…
“With all due respect to our religious leaders…how much are you willing to spend to reverse what you call global warming?” Johnson asked. “…The country of Spain made a huge transition to their economy for green energy. What was the result of that? Bankruptcy?”…
Johnson responded with a little yelling of his own.
“I’m on the side of the scientists I served with in Antartica and Greenland and I’m the only member of this body that has done that,” Johnson said. “And there is no agreement in the scientific community, no consensus that things have really changed because change happens.”
Not every senator exhibited a hot temper. There were some light-hearted moments in this episode.
Senator Joni Ernst of Red Oak openly admitted to being a Republican who drives a fuel-efficient Prius.
“I did it just because I’m fiscally conservative and driving a Buick Enclave all around my rather large (senate) district was just not affordable,” Ernst said.
That prompted Senator Tom Courtney, a Democrat from Burlington, to admit he drives a gas-guzzling Corvette convertible….ETC ETC

    Joanne:

    ElliottCB says:

JB Frodsham- “I’ve been asking for two years, three months and four days, and no one can find one that suggests CO2 will cause much more than 1 degree of warming at most.”

The answers are the same as they have been every time you turned up in the last two years, three months and four days pretending not to have heard them the last time:

    1. In the IPCC reports. The IPCC Physical Basis section is basically a 1,000-page list of the peer-reviewed papers supporting the IPCC’s projections. As you do not specify any more coherently which aspect of the mass of science requires support, this is a precise and comprehensive answer.

    2. The question is in any case incoherent, as the science of global warming does not rest on models. We would be absolutely sure that AW is happening without ever turning a model on. Even the existing, observed rate of warming approximates 2°C per century.

    3. The question is ignorant, as the models [edited] themselves ARE peer-reviewed science, and are composed out of peer-reviewed science. The Met Office model is actually the exact same model used for weather forecasting and accommodates the latest science from the whole field for generating economically important forecasts. It is just run at a different resolution. Entire industries such as agriculture and shipping are relying perfectly happily on these exact same models and have been for decades.

    4. Where and when have any of you coprolites ever come up with so much as a SINGLE paper falsifying the science of anthropogenic warming? Without falsification anything you say.

Johnathon, all the answers are here — http://joannenova.com.au/2012/2010/01/is-there-any-evidence/

      1. IPCC? The IPCC is not a scientific instrument. It’s a committee. We’re looking for a paper with data from an instrument.
      2. 2°C per century eh? i) got any evidence of that? Phil Jones says the peak decades of the last 150 years were only 0.16/decade. (All the others were lower) ii) Have you heard the phrase “correlation is not causation”? (ie So?)
      3. Models might be peer reviewed, but they measure a simulated world. We want measurements from the real one. You know… not one based on assumptions, estimates, guestimates and approximations of the atmosphere.
      4. Skeptics can name 900 papers that support our view. Of course, just because we outnumber you doesn’t make us right. It’s the evidence in those papers that wipes out your case. See Lindzen 2011, McKitrick 2011, Christie 2010, Douglass & knox 2009, Anagnostopoulis 2010, Spencer 2011, Spencer 2007,McShane 2010 …. how many do you want?

Had it kept on warming past 1998 it would have been unusual and there may have been something in it.
No temperature set shows continued warming past 98, not UAH, not GISS, no one. There is a slight variance between for instance UAH and GISS with the latter showing higher peaks then the others for some of the years since 98 but none show any warming since. Leveling off and cooling would appear the better word for what is shown for the last 2 years.
All this is in line with the 30 year cycles of the sun. A period of warming, leveling off and then cooling.
Not that AGW believers are keen to believe in sun cycles or anything else natural.
They will start to throw other increases in something as evidence, most of them random ones and poorly understood needing much more research to verify natural variability or otherwise.
Yes, the sea level is going up, has done so for a long time, but the rate of increase is slowing down.
The oceans have gone up in temperature, slightly, the Pacific is now cooling and it won’t be long and the Atlantic will follow.
It is rather comic that self styled “environmentalists” can not come to believe that nature is in control.
No doubt we have an influence on our environment and air quality but Global Warming is not one of them at this stage.
Personally I quite enjoy the extra plant food in the air, more meat on the table is the result.

      2 degrees per century?

Why don’t you look at some data moron. Here is a site you can download global temperature anomaly from. Since it’s the BOM you can be assured that it’s accurate and has not been adjusted in any way…

      http://www.bom.gov.au/cgi-bin/climate/change/global/timeseries.cgi

Now, download the time series and run an average gradient through the last century, or through any other 10 year period and show me how you come up with 2 degrees.

Also please note that in the last 10 – 15 years we have seen NO GLOBAL WARMING!

The term ‘coprolites’ obviously should refer to your comments and not to those who challenge the deceit, fallacies and data manipulation of the climate change industry.

Just in case there is anyone does not know the definition of the word coprolite, it is fossilised dinosaur poo.

Also, just in case anyone does not know the identity of the world’s most sceptical group of individuals – they are the geologists (government employed ones excepted for obvious reasons). Geologists recognise the ‘science’ as preached by the CAGW cult, as being complete poo – as almost 100% of recent climate change can be explained by natural climate cycles, which have been experienced on our planet for well over one billion years.

a FINAL final link, a shameful piece in The Australian:

20 April: Australian: SPECIAL REPORT: DEB RICHARDS: Carbon: making the big switch
Nick Wood, associate director of climate change and sustainability at KPMG, has been readying CEOs and CFOs all over Australia and advising them to see it as an opportunity…
Caroline Bayliss, of the not-for-profit Climate Group, says the solution lies in helping business see the need to innovate and adopt best-practice methods. “It’s not just about compliance. It’s about transforming the market, so that business brings carbon emissions down and pushes profits up.”
The Climate Group is a global organisation initiated by Tony Blair while he was the British prime minister. Here in Australia, Bayliss works to bring governments and corporations together to identify ways of doing good business with lower carbon demands. Companies such as IBM, Origin Energy and General Electric are exploring ways to co-ordinate with government to build “climate- smart precincts” in which integrated services and information and communications technologies reduce energy costs and emissions…
    http://www.theaustralian.com.au/news/features/carbon-making-the-big-switch/story-e6frgabx-1226332956826

    The Climate Group: Caroline Bayliss
Caroline Bayliss has taken over at the helm of The Climate Group in Australia.
Rupert Posner, who founded The Climate Group’s Australian office in 2005, is moving to New York to take up a new position as the organisation’s Global Director of Energy…
Caroline was also previously Deputy Director of the United Nations Global Compact Cities Programme. The initiative is dedicated to assisting cities to address seemingly intractable urban challenges through collaborative governance that engages all levels of government, business and civil society. She will maintain an ongoing role on the Advisory Council of the Global Compact Cities Programme.

Tony Blair??? give me a break.

18 April: PerthNow: Staff Writers: CO2 Group gets licence to carbon trade
CO2 Group has become the country’s first carbon project developer to get a financial services licence that will allow the company to trade ‘carbon credit units’.
The Perth-based company today said it had become an authorised representative of Valuestream Investment Management Ltd (AFSL), which meant it can now deal in derivatives across Australia’s carbon trading markets…
Shares in CO2 closed down 0.5c to 16.5c today.
    http://www.perthnow.com.au/business/local-business/co2-group-gets-licence-to-carbon-trade/story-e6frg2s3-1226331817714

Valuestream is connected to UBS Global Access Fund.

with the failure in the US this week to regulate the derivatives market, it’s all systems go for the biggest, baddest financial bubble of all time – the carbon dioxide bubble.

That’s a wonderful interview Jo. Wide ranging and relaxed, well delivered responses. Why don’t we see/hear more of these ?

Meanwhile, back in the MSM, it is being reported that HRH Prince Charles and his father Phillip have both had some rather frank things to say about windmills.

    To Charles is attributed:-

” A horrendous blot on the landscape”

This is the President of the WWF.

And to his slightly less circumspect father, known for being more outspoken than your average Yorkshireman:-

“Absolutely useless, completely reliant on subsidies and an absolute disgrace”.

    Well there we have it.

Century old map throws new doubt on climate change sea level claims

A new book on the history of New Zealand has inadvertently stirred the climate change debate by revealing a near zero sea level increase over the past century.

The book, The Great Divide, includes a 100 year old map of Cloudy Bay lagoons in New Zealand, drafted back in 1912 to show the location of 20 kilometres of canals dug with wooden spades by ancient Maori.

Sun may soon have four poles, say researchers

Officials of the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan and the Riken research foundation said on April 19 that the activity of sunspots appeared to resemble a 70-year period in the 17th century in which London’s Thames froze over and cherry blossoms bloomed later than usual in Kyoto.

Was the Maunder minimum a hoax generated by “Big Wood” to boost sagging firewood sales ? Was the Roman warm period a myth created by “Magna Aqua” to move stocks of last years fountains ? The Minoan warm period ,is it part of a natural cycle or a scam run by “Μεγάλες ελαιολάδου” ? Or is it all just Tony Abbott`s fault ?

Hey, I know all you readers just click on the site Joanne linked to and then just listen to the radio broadcast, but did any of you read the accompanying text.

In the intro ‘blurb’ it mentions that Joanne is the author of her book, and umm, the title of which is (stated there) the SEPTIC’s Handbook.

Hey, I know that there can be some spelling inconsistencies between Oz and the U.S. and I’m willing to believe the person who wrote that blurb just wrote it and then decided to check the spelling, you know, whether it was spelled with a ‘C’ or a ‘K’ and then just forgot to check, but it it makes you wonder sometimes if something like this is done accidentally or intentionally.

    It just seems odd.

The first commenter at the site picked up on it too in perhaps a sly dig at Americans.

    Tony.

Sometimes I forget just how many International visitors this site gets, so I might need to add an explanation for those ‘offshore’ visitors.

The first comment at that site Joanne linked to is this:

Is the Septics Handbook a guide to Oz for Americans?

Oddly, it’s a clever comment, and sometimes somewhat of an esoteric nature.

We refer to Americans as Yank or Yanks from the American derivative of the Southern term, Yankee.

The word ‘Septic’ here is not meant as derogatory, but is typical rhyming slang. It stands for ‘septic tank’ which rhymes with yank, and here, as is the case with most rhyming slang, the rhyming word is left off, hence ‘septic’ making the reference seemingly nothing to do with the original word.

A septic tank is a somewhat ubiquitous concrete structure under the back yard of early Australian homes, especially here in Queensland, and was in vogue for many years prior to town sewerage being put in place. That tank also had an above ground round concrete structure as well, so the underground tank could be accessed come time for it to be emptied. That above ground structure was great for one specific thing I particularly remember. It was a great platform for smashing that particular Queensland delicacy the Macadamia Nut (also called the Queensland Nut) with a hammer to break the stubbornly hard shell to get at the delicious centre.

So here, septic refers to septic tank, which rhymes with Yank, which is sometimes what we call Americans.

It’s actually a fond term, and in fact is not meant to be in any way derogatory.

      Tony.

      00

Tony, in the Army we used the rhyming slang “Septic Tanks” for the Yanks.

        Hello Crackar

MaryF is gone but I when I first started to post, the debate was focused on the CO2 – IR – UV interaction. I have learned a lot about AGW since then and much more about the insidious nature of politics where we have the ABC and its’ science and nature programs still pushing the message to the average Australian.

    skeptics of government money

I like the cut of your jib here but when it comes to government money, there is nothing to be skeptical about. To be skeptical, you would generally be considered to be in doubt of.

Money is the one & only thing with a constant marginal utility, that is, you cannot have enough of it. Government money is junk, it cannot possibly have a constant marginal utility since you certainly can have to much junk.

Government money is fraud. Fraud is a crime. It is not logical to be a skeptic of government money.

I likd that one about the Spanish solar plant, running on Diesel at night.

Isn’t that just the resourceful Spanish making their solar plants do what other plants do naturally, ie. generating CO2 at night.

As long as they were paying for the diesel, why not.

Where gullible government seeks to manipulate free markets, there are always enterprising individuals who will see the opportunity to take advantage of the distortions created.

amazing how little CAGW things can get the attention of the MSM!

22 April: UK Daily Mail: Katherine Faulkner: Why the cardboard in your loo roll is being slashed: Sainsbury’s trims size in bid to reduce environmental impact
Each roll will be 11 millimetres slimmer – 112mm instead of 123mm – while the number of sheets will remain as 240…
Sainsbury’s claims the move will avoid 500 annual lorry trips from suppliers to stores and save 140 tons of carbon dioxide…
It insists customers will not struggle to squeeze the new toilet rolls onto holders…
Miss Tucker said the change would give ‘an essential household product a lower carbon footprint.’ …

Reading your post the first thing that came to mind was: I bet they won’t reduce the price and I thought of commenting that straight away. However this time I figured to be different then my usual and not trust my gut feeling and actually read the article. Guess what, we reduce the size by 9%, we save the planet loads of CO2, read our transport costs, AND for all that we keep the price the same.
What is good for the bottom line will now be expressed in tons of CO2 saved and I bet that the consumers will flock to Sainsbury because they CARE about the environment.
      Bull dust.
If they would really care they would reduce their price to reflect the savings they make. This is just a way to improve margins, 130 litres odd of diesel per lorry trip plus the time each trip takes, maintenance savings etc, plus the 9% in paper savings. Multiply that by the millions of rolls they sell each year is: mega dollars.
Hey if they can sell it like that to the UK public good for them but I hope that the UK consumer is a bit more savvy then that.

Hey, way off topic I know, and I apologise for that, but just how serious are these people?

Tarong and Tarong North power plants, both near Nanango in Queensland, and suppliers of around 2000MW of coal fired power have just completed upgrades to both plants. That upgrade cost $50 Million, and upgrades their control systems, better boilers and turbines, and work on their nearby fuel source, their coal mine.

It will result in securing Queensland’s power supply out to the mid 2030’s.

The best part about all this was that it was done under a Queensland Labor Government and while a Federal Labor Government were both in power.

Now, no operator in his right mind is going to even thought bubble proposals to spend that amount on upgrades if coal is on the way out. Also, they are not going to proceed unless there is a cast iron contract to supply for that period. So, while the talking heads stand in front of the cameras and say “Cloymat Change is reeyall” or even “We are Queenslanders” with breaking voice, they are just flat out misleading you.

Here’s the link to That article.

And when people tell you that for the sake of the environment we need to radically cut back on our consumption of electricity, also be aware that those same talking heads know the following, and are acutely aware of just that, when the operator says this:

Mr Franklin says the station is now prepared for an expected surge in electricity demand.

    Note specifically the word ‘expected’.

Beyond Zero Emissions in their laughable proposal to move to 100% renewables by 2020 based EVERYTHING on a halving of our current electrical consumption.

Do not ever believe there will be that sort of cutback.

The Government in their own yearly paper on Energy has said for the last 4 years that consumption is currently expanding by around 5 to 7%.

    Give me strength.

    Tony.
