    Classic!

Instantly made me think of Fantasy Island.

The environmentally aware Tattoo looking up in a condescending manner…”Zee Plane! Zee Plane!”

    Well yes. . .no question.
Much of what we’re hearing and seeing sounds and looks exactly like it has been lifted from a Hollywood drama.
    Love this piece.
    Still chortling as I type.
    🙂 🙂
Maybe that’s what the problem is?
Too many of our ‘green betters’ spent too much time growing up watching movies and/or on computers rather than spending time and/or working in the real climate/weather/environment.

In a word, yes. As a young graduate, I was taught the secret of successful management:

        When in trouble,
        Or in doubt,
        Run in circles,
        Scream, and shout.

Since then, I’ve seen it applied dozens of times.

        Cheers,

        Speedy

Just imagine the talk around this dinner table, only on weekends mind you, because week days, both are just so busy.

Husband: Well dear, what have you got on Climate Change tonight?

Wife: The usual obligatory one article. How about You?

Husband: Yeah! Same here. You got anyone you can go in hard on?

Wife. Oh! The usual Conservative who I’ll attempt to crucify, and interrupt them to death.

Husband: Yeah! You’re good at that. You learned that pretty well from me.

Wife: Excellent teacher. Who’ve you got on tonight?

Husband: The usual expert who’ll tell us we’re all doomed.

Wife: Good, Good. Got all your leading questions sorted out?

Husband: Yep! Pass the salt will you.

Scene. Dining table with Lateline host Tony Jones and 7.30 host Sarah Ferguson ….. husband and wife.

    Tony.

What night was this on the ABC?

This is too like their usual “balanced” approach for it not to have been.

The most serious we question that we should all be asking ourselves is this:

When you look at the ‘scientists’ who speak to us from those clips, would you buy a pre-used Trabant from any one of them?

The BBC had something very similar as its second item of news this morning.

It seems we have got to at least treble the use of solar and wind power. No mention of its uneconomic cost and unreliability, or the need for it to be backed up by fossil fuel generators further adding to the cost.

Also, the Developed World, but not China and India, have got to pay for everything.

As usual, only the alarmist viewpoint was given.

    Sigh……………

A UN report on climate change is expected to call for a trebling of the planet’s use of renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power.

Good! Let’s put the windmills and solar panels in UN officals’ front yards — back yards too — and see what they think of renewable energy then. I think they ought to demonstrate their enthusiasm for renewable energy by volunteering to host it on their own property. They should cut their connection to the grid for the same reason.

        70

        • #

Agreed. We listen to no one advocating for wind and solar if they have a line connecting them to the grid. Period.

          40

          • #
            Roy Hogue

Let’s not go too far though. My cat is an advocate for solar. She loves to go out on the patio in the morning and sleep in the sun. But she also likes to climb up on the desk and watch the computer monitor. I guess that makes her connected to the grid too. So please don’t try to put solar panels on my roof. 😉

A UN report on climate change is expected to call for a trebling of the planet’s use of renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power.

UN to show the way. The UN go for full renewable energy? –

All UN building (including owned, rented, hired, stolen, or donated) and all the building’s equipment to be powered by solar cells and windfarms only.

All transport for all UN personnel, equipment transport, and contract suppliers to be powered by renewable sources only.

All equipment used by UN personnel to be resourced from ‘sustainable’ and renewable sources only. This includes all hired equipment.

All waste disposal to take place as close (within 1,000 meters) to the point of use or discard. Waste will be as far as possible, recycled, or disposed of in a sustainable method. This includes human waste and wasted humans.

These rules apply to all UN staff, and includes NGOs, troops, ‘peacekeepers’, contractors, volunteers, walking dead, and temporary hired staff.

I live in hope that this happens.

I must h/t my cousin who sent it to me.
    …………..
On a more serious note, the whole scenario has been played out before, based on other ‘global fright’ episodes.
There is a really thorough analysis of the Establishment scare that man-made chemicals were producing a cancer epidemic in the USA in the 1970-80 period. The epidemic has not appeared. It was fictitious and a good example of what Lew calls an improbable conspiracy theory. The media are very quiet about this giant embarrassment.
The history of protest movements prior to the non-event of man-made chemical cancers is given by the author, a scientist/journalist named Edith Efron. She also details how the cancer scare came unstuck. It is remarkably similar to the present scare of CAGW. Watch for more leading scientists going public that the science is proving not much.
It’s 589 pages of paperback, “The Apocalyptics”, Edith Efron, 1984, ISBN 0-671-41741-6. Treasure it if you can find it, it is like a Rosetta Stone to understanding global warming. You will gain wisdom from it.

HEALTH WARNING for believers in AGW
Do not read this book if you have heart problems, high blood pressure or are burnt by steam issuing from your ears.

Here is a the latest news featuring some of the stars from above:

“BERLIN (AP) — After racing against the clock in an all-night session, the U.N.’s expert panel on climate change was putting the final touches Saturday on a scientific guide to help governments, industries and regular people take action to stop global warming from reaching dangerous levels.

“It’s not pure science and it’s not just politics,” but a blend of both, said Steve Rayner, an Oxford scientist who has taken part in three of the IPCC’s previous assessments, but not this one.

The final document, to be released Sunday, is expected to say that a global shift to renewable energy from fossil fuels like oil and coal are required to avoid potentially devastating sea level rise, flooding, droughts and other impacts of warming.

“The role of this one-way valve is important in thinking about why the findings of the IPCC always feel so measured and carefully couched,” he said.”
    . . .
“devastating sea level rise, flooding, droughts and other impacts of warming …”

    Yep. “Measured & carefully couched.”

What ever you do, don’t panic.

devastating sea level rise, flooding, droughts and other impacts of warming …

All of it, of course, predicted years ago to have been well under way by now. So let’s see:

      Sea level rise: nope
      Polar Bear extinction: nope
Arctic ice free by several years ago: nope
      Unbearable heat: nope
      Insect plagues: nope
      Rodent plagues: nope
Hellish storms of unprecedented magnitude: nope
Rampant malaria: only because DDT was outlawed
You name it: nope, nope, nope… …nope…

The score looks like skeptics 100%, alarmists zero to me.

But no matter, next thing you know CO2 will cause AIDS. Just watch.

I can’t tell whether I’m trapped in a gigantic circus or in hell. But either way, at least there’s some comic relief occasionally.

Skeptics would be about 97% at least Roy 😉

Of course CO2 causes AIDS, 3 atoms cavorting in such a disgusting manner is against the laws of nature!

        • #
          Roy Hogue

OK Yonni, just for fun, skeptics 97%, alarmists 3%. But how significant is that 3% on the end of 97? I wouldn’t gamble in Las Vegas or anywhere you’d care to name on odds even that good. I’d lose my shirt.

They still have no evidence, no case and no credibility. I think you and I agree on that. So why do they persist?

Well, we both know so there’s no use going on. 🙂

The 3 atom connection with AIDS though — maybe we should pursue that. It could lead to a cure for something. We’ll need a huge government grant of course. 😉

Too slapstick for my liking. Sorry, I didn’t really get it.

This afternoon I was in JB HiFi in the queue waiting to be served and nearby there were a few of those large TV screens of different sizes. Most were displaying the same thing, a film showing closeups of a giant wind “farm”, then thousands of solar panels out in the desert, then a large cascading river system, all claiming the virtues of renewable energy sources no doubt. On another screen, the largest and most expensive at nearly $5000, was a closeup of a large city, perhaps Sydney, at night with blazing lights in all their glory.

I couldn’t help thinking of the absolute irony of the two images being displayed – one using a massive amount of electricity which could only be generated by fossil fuel and the other showing a massive amount of waste of money and resources (except the river) to generate intermittent and tiny amounts of electricity.

      It’s called “The IPCC”.
The original working title was “The Thing From Geneva!”
It was later recognised as the first fully computer animated scientific hypothesis.
The acting was superb, including a railroad engineer acting as an atmospheric physics expert, a hack acting as a competent data archivist, Kevin Trenberth acting as an expert on hurricanes, Tim Flannery acting as an expert on Gaia, and Michael Mann acting in the role of Mr Squiggle.
They say it had a cast of thousands… though that might have only been 75.

I loved the idea that skiers and swimmers and people on Pacific Atolls had so much to fear. What a group! The horror that knows no end.

Didn’t we just go this with Terrible Toll (the Australian this morning) Cylcone Ita. When it was over, the BOM said they expected it to come to nothing because the cyclone was ‘double walled’. Now why didn’t they say so in the first place?

Now the worst threat is flooding. No deaths. No injuries! Nothing more than a Sydney storm. Where were the 300km/hr winds and the terrible destruction?

Climate alarmism (cue the screaming) has no basis in science. Things change. Only in Climate Science is the average temperature, average rainfall, average humidity mandatory. Any variation from average is (more screams) Climate Change!

What with Anthony Watts and his challenge to the WUWT denizens to create or guess at some creative headlines that will appear in the media when / IF the proposed forthcoming El Nino gets underway plus Jo getting quite a few good hard well deserved licks in on the local media, particularly the ABC, accompanied by much barracking from her skeptic brigade.
Plus Andrew Montford of Bishop Hill now having some seriously british swipes as only the Poms can, at the british media, all centred on climate related science and the standards or complete lack of standards, of the reporting of that media, the Great Wheel of Human Affairs has turned and moved past that middle position and the skeptics are on the up and know it and it is reflected in their blog commentary..

As we are increasingly seeing on the likes of this blog of Jo’s the skeptics are starting to seriously and gleefully parody the CAGW/ green / left / inner city / academic believers.
The whole ” catastrophic carbon” deal is turning out to be a travesty of badly gone wrong public relations exercise for the warmists and eco loons as they face an increasingly confident and growing in size hostile skeptic flotilla who owe the climate alarmists and greens a great deal of pain which if given the chance the skeptics will repay in spades.

Which they are now on the way to doing as that Great Wheel of Human Affairs continues on it’s inexorable way and the skeptics grab their oppurtunities to rub the noses of the CAGW ideologists and their running dogs in the media and politics right in the climate brown stuff as Nature just refuses to follow the instructions of the warmists and goes about her affairs in her own unfathomable ways as Nature always has done and in doing so, she is now rather obviously giving the two finger salute with spades to the climate catastrophe proletariat and it’s running dogs in the media and politics and in the various eco loon groups.

      ROM,

As we are increasingly seeing on the likes of this blog of Jo’s the skeptics are starting to seriously and gleefully parody the CAGW/ green / left / inner city / academic believers

I think we seriously need to continue in this vein in merciless and tireless fashion, plunging a figurative stake into the heart (or what simulates a heart anyway) of these leftist vampires, relentlessly and for eternity. Only the fate of Prometheus is sufficient punishment for these closet totalitarians who arrogantly presume to think in their ignorance that they know better than the rest of us what is noble or good for the fate of humanity.

I would have some sympathy for them if a lack of efficacy for any of their putative schemes actually modified their behaviour, but they are of the psychology that if everyone conformed entirely to their thinking, and the globe became a toxic waste dump rife with starvation, deprivation and pestilence, they would still persist in thinking that only by following the path they have laid down for us would salvation be at hand. For them to acknowledge their own stupidity, and take responsibility for the damage they have already wrought (a fraction of what is to come if they succeed), is a bridge too far for these malignant narcissists.

      41

It’s becoming harder and harder to parody this. Tonight, NBC had a report on “The Pollen Vortex”. I had to change channels. Really, could we just tatoo “moron” on their forheads and just skip the report? Heave them stand there and smile. “Pollen Vortex”–it just gets stupider and more desperate by the hour.

If you are a 900kg 2 metre tall animal capable of swimming 150 km. (over 24 hours) in sea water at 0℃ and who can lift a 35kg. seal 1½ metres vertically with a swipe of your paw, and your ancestors lived through 3 previous periods of ice melting when the world was 2-3℃ warmer, then you get a bit sceptical about the IPCC claims.

Would not do to have one at the meeting “disagreeing” with the environmentalists, would it.

A female polar bear swam for a record-breaking nine days straight, traversing 426 miles (687 kilometers) of water—equivalent to the distance between Washington, D.C., and Boston, a new study says.

She was wearing a radio collar and was tracked by satellite.
        See the National Geographic article.

And that was probably “just a paddle.”

        • #

“”We’re pretty sure that these animals didn’t have to do these long swims before, because 687-kilometer stretches of open water didn’t occur very often in the evolutionary history of the polar bear,” They are “pretty sure” and that’s good enough. I’m sure they have thousands of years of data on polar bear evolution and detailed Arctic ice records or they would not have made this statement.

You left out the part where the cub mortality was nearly 50% for the swimming bears. You really don’t think National Geographic would let an opportunity to lampoon the fossil fuels that power it’s magazine headquarters, prints and distributes the magazine and powers the computers with the digital versions pass by. Fossil fuels are killing us all and stop using them now! Oh, and renew your subscriptions today.

hilarious. but the abc crowd would not get the joke.

once again, an ABC summary that makes no mention of the CAGW content in the program, yet the program is dominated by unsubstantiated CAGW claims from Throsby (whose progs of late are regular CAGW lovefests) & the flies-all-over-the-world Whatmore. Alan Jones should challenge ABC’s CAGW lies in this interview. who knew we HAVE ALREADY BEEN HAVING so many more floods in Australia, caused by CAGW, etc?

the summary does provide some comic relief, however:

“At the centre of her work is the idea that people and nature aren’t actually that separate”

“creating distinctions between people and the living world”

so many bits worth singling out – talk of the UK’s on/off badger cull reminds Throsby of wombats – mention of them causes aussies to roll their eyes and pick up their guns, she says. yes, there have been floods for centuries, & people living on the British coastline, but it was different back then. for Throsby, it was because houses had basements & the water drained out; for Whatmore people’s homes are perceived differentlty now – they are seen as investments and a place for raising children!!!

btw whatmore gave a “MORE THAN HUMAN” lecture at Sydney Uni on 9 April:

AUDIO: 14 April: ABC: Margaret Throsby Interview: Professor Sarah Whatmore
Sarah J Whatmore is professor of Environment and Public Policy and Head of the School of Geography and the Environment at the University of Oxford. She is currently also Associate Head (Research) of the Social Sciences Division. She is a Fellow of Keble College.
She is in Australia as a Visiting Fellow at the Human Animal Research Network at the Sydney Environment Institute in the University of Sydney…
???At the centre of her work is the idea that people and nature aren’t actually that separate. And that by creating distinctions between people and the living world we make it harder to solve problems of how to live here and survive – especially when it comes to issues like droughts and water scarcity or floods and fires…

***BELOW, WHATMORE ONCE AGAIN THE ONE DOING THE SEPARATING OF PEOPLE & THE LIVING WORLD! compare the unintelligible nonsense about her research with the clear-cut communication skills of Joanne Nova:

    Oxford Uni: Sarah Whatmore
She spent 12 years teaching in the School of Geographical Sciences at the University of Bristol, where she was promoted to a Chair in Human Geography in 1999 and awarded a DSc for published research in 2000. She moved to the Geography Discipline at the Open University in September 2001 as Professor of Environmental Geography. Sarah has also held visiting appointments in several institutions overseas including the University of California, Santa Cruz and the University of Wisconsin, Madison (USA); the University of Newcastle, (Australia); and the University of Trondheim (Norway)…
She was appointed to the Defra/DECC Social Science Expert panel in April 2012. She is also an elected member of the Academy of Learned Societies in the Social Sciences and a Fellow of the RSA (Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce). She is currently an editor of Environment and Planning, A (Pion) and of the Blackwell Dictionary of Human Geography (5th edition), and serves on the editorial boards of several journals.
***Her research focuses on relations between people and the material world, particularly the living world…First, developing ‘more-than-human’ modes of enquiry that address (i) the material and ecological fabric of social life and (ii) the politics of knowledge through which this fabric is contested and re-made. These concerns are informed by an interest in a range of philosophical resources (e.g. the creative tensions between bio-philosophy and feminist theories of the bodily) and experiments in transdisciplinary research practice that work against prevailing divisions between natural and social science, ‘expert’ and ‘lay’ knowledge (notably those associated with new fields like Science and Technology studies and with disciplines that pre-date these divisions like geography, anthropology and archaeology).Second, interrogating the relationship between science and democracy particularly in terms of (i) environmental knowledge controversies and geo-political technologies of risk management (eg flood risk modelling / mapping; regulating the movement of GM plant materials); and (ii) collaborative research practices which bring the different knowledge competences of social and natural scientists into play with those of diverse publics engaged in common matters of environmental concern. Current projects include work with hydrological modellers on the science and politics of flood risk management (RELU programme – ESRC/NERC/BBSRC); with sociologists and political scientists on sustainable consumption (ANR, France); and with conservation biologists on the commercialisation of wildlife (ESRC)…
She was recipient of the Cuthbert Peek award from the RGS/IBG in 2003 for ‘innovative contributions to the understanding of nature-society relations’ and her research has been supported by a variety of funding bodies including Research Councils, NGOs and Government agencies, such as the Economic and Social Research Council; the Worldwide Fund for Nature and English Nature.

I like the Sherriff calmly describing the huge volcano out his back window which is just about to blow up. That’s calmness under pressure!

A brilliant parody; and how appropriate that a z-grade compilation of horror movies should be so similar to the outrageous schlock of AGW science as bespoke by its advocates.

The ABC should be closed down immediately. To save the world of course.

bbc/abc/fairfax are basically ignoring IPCC’s endorsement of fracking & nuclear and NGO’s ARE SILENT on both issues. on radio reports, i’ve heard neither mentioned. SMH takes til para 29 to mention nuclear, but fracking is ignored:

13 April: SMH: UN calls for drastic action to stop climate change
Nick Miller, Berlin and Tom Arup
Environment Minister Greg Hunt said Australia would reduce its emissions by five per cent on 2000 levels by 2020, and would consider further action next year in light of other action by major economies and trading partners and the progress of a new global climate agreement.
Greens leader Christine Milne said the IPCC report showed the Abbott government could no longer pretend “business as usual” on emissions was possible, and it should retain or increase the ambition of Australia’s climate change laws, including the carbon price and renewable energy target.
Other findings in the IPCC report:
    – Nuclear energy could make an increasing contribution to low-carbon energy production, though there were barriers and risks to this approach.
    http://www.smh.com.au/environment/climate-change/un-calls-for-drastic-action-to-stop-climate-change-20140413-36lbc.html

15 paras before a mention of nuclear, tho fracking does pop up earlier:

13 April: Guardian: Damian Carrington: IPCC climate change report: averting catastrophe is eminently affordable
Landmark UN analysis concludes global roll-out of clean energy would shave only a tiny fraction off economic growth
“It doesn’t cost the world to save the planet,” said economist Professor Ottmar Edenhofer, who led the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) team.
The cheapest and least risky route to dealing with global warming is to abandon all dirty fossil fuels in coming decades, the report found. Gas – including that from the global fracking boom – could be important during the transition, Edenhofer said, but only if it replaced coal burning.
The authoritative report, produced by 1,250 international experts and approved by 194 governments, dismisses fears that slashing carbon emissions would wreck the world economy…
“It is actually affordable to do it and people are not going to have to sacrifice their aspirations about improved standards of living,” said Professor Jim Skea, an energy expert at Imperial College London and co-chair of the IPCC report team. “It is not a hair shirt change of lifestyle at all that is being envisaged and there is space for poorer countries to develop too,” Skea told the Guardian…
On Thursday, Archbishop Desmond Tutu called for an anti-apartheid style campaign against fossil fuel companies, which he blames for the “injustice” of climate change.
Friends of the Earth’s executive director, Andy Atkins, said: “Rich nations must take the lead by rapidly weaning themselves off coal, gas and oil and funding low-carbon growth in poorer countries.”…
The report includes nuclear power as a mature low-carbon option, but cautions that it has declined globally since 1993 and faces safety, financial and waste-management concerns…
“This is a very responsible report,” said Professor Andrew Watson, an atmospheric scientist at the University of Exeter who was not part of the IPCC team. He said there were economic and social risks in transforming the energy system to cut carbon. “However, there are even bigger risks if we do nothing and rely exclusively on being able to ride out climate change and adapt to it.”
Environmental campaign groups, which have previously criticised the IPCC for being too conservative, welcomed the new report. WWF’s Samantha Smith said: “The IPCC report makes clear that acting on emissions now is affordable, but delaying further increases the costs. It is a super strong signal to [fossil fuel] investors: they can no longer say they did not know the risks.”
Kaisa Kosonen, at Greenpeace International, said: “Renewable energy is unstoppable. It’s becoming bigger, better and cheaper every day. Dirty energy industries are sure to put up a fight but it’s only a question of time before public pressure and economics dictate that they either change or go out of business.”

ABC News this morning. The little bottom of screen ticker is always worth watching. Its like the lefty green announcement board or something.

This morning we had “IPCC warns of dire costs of climate change” followed by “Fires in Chile kill x number of people”. It was a pretty dirty little trick, that no doubt serves to sharpen the stupidity of anyone who puts the two stories together. But more importantly it shows the absolute and total desperation of the pinkos at the ABC to keep the gravy train of climate nonsense rolling, even on days where there is just basically nothing to talk about regarding climate.

One thing I would like to know is what percentage of young people who commit suicide have in their minds the thought that “life isnt worth living given the direction the planet is heading” and how many of those young people hold those views from spending too much of their short lives surrounding themselves with alarmism and negativity, the kind of which is the stock and trade of the ABC. I regularly speak to young people who state they have abandoned the idea of having children because they wouldnt “bring them into a world like this”. Not a new claim, but climate alarmism features heavily in the modern reasoning.

    http://www.mindframe-media.info/for-media/reporting-suicide/facts-and-stats

The left and the greens just flatly refuse to let a day go by without trying to frighten people or just generally make them feel miserable about their existences.

As I drove to work this morning, I always take a very slow ride down the first hill from my house. The road faces the Tamar. This morning the sun was just coming up over glassy waters, the air was a crisp 8c and the fog was still clinging to the hills in the distance. It was a sight of breathtaking beauty, as it is every morning at Beauty Point. Life is good kids, life is full of opportunity and we will still be enjoying it for many, many years after the last memories of this obsession with disaster we are currently captive to has passed.

Relax, smell the roses, they are growing even better in 400ppm CO2 than they did in 250.

FRANK KELLY: increase of 4-5 degrees by end of the century. Fran mentions nuclear in passing at one point, but makes the actual question about bioenergy, so that Bill Hare doesn’t have to comment on nuclear at all. fracking is never mentioned. Govt’s direct action plan worse than useless, etc.

AUDIO: 14 April: ABC Breakfast: Options for big cuts in emissions by 2050
The report makes it clear that if the world wants to avoid dangerous climate change of two degrees, global emissions will need to be cut by between 40 to 70% by mid-century … and to near-zero by the end of the century…

14 April: ABC: IPCC Working Group III: Report warns drastic changes needed to prevent temperature rises
    By environment reporter Jake Sturmer
Environment Minister Greg Hunt, who is trying to scrap carbon pricing, said in a statement that the Federal Government was committed to taking strong and effective action to reduce emissions.
He said the Government would consider further targets in 2015, depending on what the rest of the world does.

Daily Mail telling it like it is, but sub-heading should be “Blow to green activists who are concerned about nuclear and fracking”, even tho green activists & their MSN enablers are going out of their way to Hear Nothing See Nothing and Say Nothing:

Daily Mail: Ben Spencer: Fracking can help to slow global warming admit UN scientists… and so can nuclear power
Blow to green activists who are concerned about the effects of fracking
The world’s leading experts on climate change say fracking will cut greenhouse gas emissions and should be made central to the country’s energy production.
It will help the UK move away from ‘dirty’ coal and contribute to saving the environment, according to a report by the influential Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)…
The IPCC report, published yesterday in Berlin, says natural gas has a role to play for at least the next 35 years as a ‘bridge technology’ while the UK expands its use of wind and solar power…

    SCREAM!!!!! unattributed piece:

14 April: News Ltd: Polling shows record boost for the Greens, as Coalition falls behind Labor
SUPPORT for the Greens has risen to a record high and the party believes it shows the “tide is turning” away from the Abbott Government.
The Greens’ primary vote jumped five points to 17 per cent in the latest Fairfax Nielsen poll, almost double the support it received at the September election.
The result comes on the back of a strong campaign for the party in the West Australian Senate re-run, securing a seat for Senator Scott Ludlam…
Greens Leader Christine Milne believes voters are coming to a realisation about the Abbott Government.
“As I said at the National Press Club before the WA by-election, the tide is turning,” she said.
“Tony Abbott’s agenda has been shown up for what it is. He’s there to further the interests of big business and mining — and that’s becoming clear to Australians.
“This is just one poll, but results like we saw in Western Australia make it clear there is something deeper going on.
“Most Australians want to live sustainably in a caring nation. The Greens share those values.”
In Western Australia, the party’s vote reached an unprecedented 27 per cent — more than double the 12 per cent recorded at last year’s election…
The Coalition trails Labor on a two party preferred basis, 48 to 52 per cent, according to the survey of 1400 voters taken between last Thursday and Saturday…

14 April: Australian: AAP: CSIRO budget cut would be travesty: ALP
CUTTING the funding of the country’s peak science body would be a “travesty” for science policy and harm Australia’s global reputation, federal Labor says.
The CSIRO is reportedly preparing for sweeping cuts in the coalition government’s first budget next month…
Labor’s innovation spokesman Kim Carr said the science community and the broader public should be outraged by the “attack”.
“This is a travesty for science policy and scientific research in Australia,” Senator Carr said in a statement on Monday.
The value of the agency’s work was immense to both the economy and society, Senator Carr said, accusing the government of treating the CSIRO’s work with “utter contempt” and potentially harming Australia’s position in the global science community…
Unions on Friday announced the CSIRO would shed a further 300 jobs, after it cut 400 positions over the past year.

Which is why the prognoticators have turned to the methods employed by psychics–predict something that will come true no matter what. The eight points listed in the AP article in the US described completely normal, always occurring conditions: floods harming people, droughts leading to food shortages, the poor more affected by the weather than the rich. All of it will happen at one point or another. If people are as foolish as they often seem, this may actually work. Psychics are very popular, even when making the most inane, worthless “predictions” because one usually does come true, and all the others are ignored. If people are foolish as to sign away thier lives and futures to nonscientific quacks who become richer and richer as the idiots following them become poorer and poorer, which is the trend–it’s okay for Obama to take million dollar vacations every month because he earned them, but the Koch brothers are evil because they worked and got rich–they will soon find that once you’ve taken from the rich, the poor are all that’s left to steal from. The hand that feeds you can stop at any time. Sitting in a cold house with intermittant lights and little food may actual get people’s attention. Too late, of course, but how do we fix the part of humans that will believe utter stupidity if it fits with their world view? Sometimes I think people want to be treated poorly and robbed of their futures. All actions say so. Failure is not only an option, but the desired one.

The ABC needs to realise that the fact that solar radiation penetrates the thin surface layer of the ocean (say the first 1 centimetre) means that the IPCC, NASA and Trenberth are wrong in assuming that they can determine the temperature of the ocean surface using Stefan-Boltzmann calculations.

As best I can ascertain, only two persons (myself and another – independently) have discovered (back in 2012) how “heat creep” functions in planetary atmospheres, crusts and mantles etc.

So take away the surface and the direct solar radiation and what would you expect the base of the nominal Uranus troposphere to be? Hotter than Earth’s surface, even though it is 30 times further from the Sun? You see, there is a big “something” missing in your paradigm of radiative forcing.

Climatologists are not physicists, and what they arrogantly write is a travesty of physics – as I can easily prove.

Chile launches a new patrol vessel.

“The vessel differs from her sister ships in that her hull is reinforced for Antarctic operations”

Clearly the Chillean Government isn’t expecting a catastrophic ice melt any time soon.

      Leon,

I get your point. But I’ve been following the great global warming fraud for too long to believe it will make any difference if we appear smug or any other way. They are totally impervious to reality, unmoved by sound argument or sound science and not at all even embarrassed by the failure of their predictions or exposure of their dishonesty. And I say that as a man who does not like simply making fun of someone. But they have worked unbelievably hard to get themselves lampooned and have thereby made themselves fair game. Were they respectable they could easily get respect from those who comment here. But they are not respectable.

My summary here is the record of their failure.
