Happy New Year to all you good Ladies and Gentlemen down under.
May 2015 be the year when the global warming mythology is finally exposed as the fraud it is, and those who have promoted the fraud are brought to justice.
Not as much as the time difference between the West Island of New Zealand and its North and South Islands, I think the West Island is about 150 years ahead.
Hopefully, we can say this again next year, but for the sake of us all and the economies of the West, let’s hope and pray the 2015 climate jamboree in Paris is a total and utter failure.
My great hope for 2015 is growing and widespread recognition that the theory of CAGW has no basis in actual observations and can only be found in biased and manipulated computer models in which the required conclusion of imminent Thermageddon has been pre-programmed.
Happy New Year to all.
May 2015 be a year of openness, honest debate and the return of scientific integrity in the flocker’s field of CAGW/CC/CD as they search for the final definition of the optimum global temperature and the perfect climate.
And instead of another flock feast in Paris, perhaps their attention could be focused on achieving peace around the world and reducing poverty.
Happy new year to Jo and her family and let’s hope 2015 focuses more light on the more extreme CAGW nonsense.
BTW Susan Crockford has a new post about the higher sea ice around Canada. In fact it is almost at the highest level for the past 40+ years. And of course Polar bear populations are booming.
Best wishes to all and real hope for the end of Global Nonsense and to focus world attention and the quangocrats of the UN on real issues like the tragic Ukraine, devastated Syria and Iraq, nuclear proliferation, North Korea and poverty.
One thousands years ago, 1015 was the year of the invasion by King Cnut, king of Denmark, Norway and Sweden (Norway did not exist until the 20th century). His grandson Harold was to die in 1066 at the Battle of Hastings against William the Conqueror, himself the descendant of Rollo, another Norseman who founded Normandy, the land of the North Men. So it was the Danes against the Norwegians over who would call themselves English.
Still we are left with the image of King Cnut in his chair bidding the seas to retreat just to show the futility of it. They were unsophisticated then. As our own Ross Garnaut and Tim Flannery explained, it could all have been done with a Carbon Tax, which according to the Australian this morning actually cost $5000+ for every ton of CO2 abated. (about $500 of fuel).
Intersting. Yes, I have seen those massive boreal forests across Siberia. Endless. However CO2 is absorbed by rapidly growing trees, especially evergreens and this means the tropics. Without Global Warming, Siberia is unlikely to respond quickly to increased CO2. Deforestation in Northern Climates is also very important, as it also recovers very slowly with such a short growing season. The report was in the tropics, so of course the emphasis on the tropics has to be sensationalized. Still the news that CO2 induced growth is outstripping deforestation is good and for doomsday cultists, very disappointing. Those cans in the shelter have a use by date too.
Happy new Year to all, and keep up the good work Jo.
TdeF. I thought you were going to say just they were unsophisticated then, our own Ross Garnaut and Tim Flannery are unsophisticated now.
Just like Peter Hannan in the SMH, calling 2014 Australia’s 3rd warmest year on record since 1910, without the slightest acknowledgement of the controversy over the massive temperature record adjustments and the effect they have had.
Yes, having to flag sarcasm seems to spoil the effect. Is there nothing a ancient dead marsupial specialist and an economist cannot do to fix global problems? I remember all the warnings about the impending GFC? Ha!
Besides the aborigines not climate change killed the giant wombats, just as the American migrants not climate change killed off America’s herds of horses, which had to be reintroduced by the Spanish. Nine million years in balance and gone in just 50,000 years as humans spread out. Strangely even Tim agrees, simply because it is so obvious. People’s views of prehistory, even modern history as now so flavored by political correctness they become meaningless. Cnut’s exercise at the beach smacks of an attempt at Direct Action, a symbolism people seem to need. Now if Cnut had known about windmills?
A Happy and Peaceful New Year to all who come here, to those who know the truth, and those who just want to find the truth, and even to those who seek to hide the truth, because you are our target. You think you can hide the truth by covering it with a blanket, and we’ll show you that your blanket is made of money.
That Casio fx-100C is the original one I was issued with when I started as an Electrical Trades Instructor back in July of 1986. I have replaced the battery once in that time. It takes a single AA battery. On the back of the calculator it says 1.5Volts and 0.00003W, so 30 MicroWatts. I still have the original manual, and it says that the battery life ensures 17,500 hours of continuous operation.
So, that calculator is as old as, umm, Bayswater Power Plant, (2640 MegaWatts Nameplate) commissioned in the same year, 1986.
That’s the big and the small of electrical power right there.
Can’t get by without the two ‘J’s,’ Jo Nova and Judith Curry

here right now! Happy New Year to all.
Yeah, us old-timers lived through the millennium change, and THAT was a global New Year. You youngsters today, just don’t know what a real New Year is like.
Great. He could add
More new year’s resolutions to add to the list
Stop lying about ‘ocean acidification’.
Stop lying about the imminent destruction of the great barrier reef
Stop lying about massive sea level rises
Stop lying about 97% of scientists
Stop lying about record temperatures
Stop lying about bush fires being climate change
Stop lying about drought being climate change
Stop lying about floods being climate change
Stop flying. Just stop flying. 30,000 people to Rio, Copenhagen, New York, Durban, Dubai, Lima.
Stop buying up depressed beach front property, Tim and Al.
Stop ignoring the Earths changing albedo.
Stop ignoring the early wet chemical CO2 measurements.
Stop ignoring the pre 1910 Australian temperature data.
Stop ignoring the satellite temperature trends.
Stop ignoring space dust.
Stop ignoring the hydrocarbons on other planets and moons in the solar system.
Stop ignoring irreversible natural change like errosion.
Stop ignoring the cooling of Venus.
Sto ignoring the Milankovitch cycles.
Stop assuming everything was stable and perfect pre industrialisation.
A Happy New Year to Joanne.

May your country not be struck by large meteorites. May your grid be free from Carrington events. May wind turbines fall quiet for your sleep. May your gardens be enriched by plentiful CO2 and natural desalination. May the wars between your tyrants and your terrorists avoid you. May your sinkholes only swallow your corrupt banksters. May your parrasitic alarmists get community service. May your oil glut grow to a lasting energy glut. May your beneficial climate change continue. May your theorectical models bow to reality. May your lazy bureaucrats, eugenicists, drug dealers, ethicist philosophers and corrupt politicians be sent to colonise Mars. May prosperity stabilise your population and a wealthy reward for work end your crime. May your unionists and financial advisors be audited. May your religious leaders and high court judges etc choose adult partners. May you children learn to defy indoctrination and may truth correct your history.
Happy New Year Jo, David and Family and all your bloggers from the Blue Mountains west of Sydney. Today is a beautiful day up here with temperatures of 25deg and the promise of a refreshing, garden soaking, thunderstorm this afternoon. The omens are good – let us hope that the evidence supporting the demise of the CO2 scam is so convincing that even our politicians have to recognise the truth.
Umm, yes! All the heat has gone into the oceans – that old chestnut. Not according to NASA. What a pointless article, how on earth do they get published in any journal of note?
Um Debbie that has a problem. It is ruined by the daft illogic of …”surface temperatures will begin to climb again. When they do, we can expect the increase to resume the rapid pace observed during the late twentieth century, “.
we can expect the increase to resume the rapid pace observed during the late twentieth century
Rapid pace? The planet warmed 0.3 degrees over 20 years. Hardly rapid.
There is no statistically significant difference between the warming rates of the late 1800’s, early 1900’s and between 1978 and 1998 – courtesy of Professor Phil Jones, CRU East Anglia.
Shame also that the Argo buoys have not measured “the missing heat”.
Yes Sliggy,
The whole piece uses much daft logic and wishy washy conjecture.
It would’ve been much easier just to say:
“It hasn’t warmed like we expected and we don’t know why!!”
Actually the whole piece is really quite pointless…yet it got a run today filed under science.
As Jo often points out, the error margins in the models are often greater than the ‘teased out’ warming trend that there has been soooooo much hand waving about.
The whole idea that there is such a thing as a utopian average global climate, based on global average temperatures, that can be controlled by government legislation is just plain silly.
The climate/weather is clearly not aware that it is supposed to ‘comply’ and STOP CHANGING IT’S MIND!!!
🙂
“It hasn’t warmed like we expected and we don’t know why!!”
That would be a bridge too far.
‘New research indicates that shifts in Pacific trade winds played a key role in twentieth century climate variation and are likely again influencing global temperatures. The study uses a novel method of analyzing coral chemistry to reveal winds from a century ago.’
May I suggest that 2015 will be the year when astute climate researchers come to the realisation that surface temperatures are controlled by thermodynamic processes (sensible convective heat transfers) as distinct from radiative heat transfer. This is the 21st century new paradigm shift I first wrote about late in 2012. Momentum is gathering as other climate blogs like The Hockey Schtick, Clive Best and Tallbloke get onto the effect of gravity, even though they have not correctly explained the energy transfer mechanisms which can be explained by the Second Law of Thermodynamics. You only have to wonder a little about how the Venus surface warms when the Sun shines to start to realise that it’s not all about radiation absorbed by the surface.
Happy and prosperous new year to all here and our gracious hosts. This year promises to be for me, looking at the indications of dissidents world wide, a year of back flips in many scientific fields. Viva la revolution and viva la internet, it has them buggered.
A late “same to you”, Jo, and Co. This is a great site, a never-ending stream of enormously informative articles over the past year, definitely a place to read and learn. ‘A Nasa-led study has found that tropical forests are absorbing 1.5 billion tons of carbon dioxide every year as they photosynthesise and grow.
‘And this is far more than is absorbed by the vast areas of boreal forest that encircle the Arctic.’

I don’t mean that this site will just fold up; the great depth of discussion here suggests that it will morph into something which helps
