Congrats to Steve McIntyre who surely deserves every bit of his LifeTime Achievement award. I’m delighted to see Paul Homewood (Notalotofpeopleknowthat) win in Best European blog. He was stiff competition in the Topical category given his role in the Christopher Booker series on the scandalous temperature adjustments which made such an impact around the world. Breitbart was also a favourite of mine, largely thanks to James Delingpole.
Congrats to all finalists like Tallbloke, WattsUp, RealScience (who is moving to RealClimateScience) and NoTricksZone. Tallbloke, the ultimate good sport, was a finalist for the LifeTime Achievement, but announced he’d vote for Climate Audit.
One day, maybe The Bloggies will bring back The Best Science Blog Category which skeptics would obviously dominate at the moment. Repressing a passionate crowd doesn’t work.
For the overseas crowd, Larry Pickering is an award winning political cartoonist in Australia who came out of retirement because our last government was so awful. He’s a skeptic to the end.

Fantastic Jo. Well done again, you really deserve the accolades and to feature again and again in the finalists and winners is amazing. I voted for several of the winners including Pickering Post, which was a worthy winner of the Antipodean section. However, it has been down for weeks, and not for the first time. It looks like it has really been nobbled good and proper this time, perhaps because of the series on Halal certification?
Does anyone know what has happened to Pickering Post?

Nothing much is happening to Pickering Post, Peter.
Sometimes it disappears for a day or two, whether due to ordinary site problems or denial of service attacks from evil-wishers.
It’s perfectly visible now and I can’t recall any occasion when it was down for ‘weeks’.

Thanks for the clue, LG. We are getting an “access denied” message on out iPads and desktops. Checking on Google we are not the only ones apparently. It appears that some server in QLD is selectively blocking access but it is not universal. I will try to get to the bottom of it. Thanks again.

It’s a reminder how important blogs like Jo’s, Watts’, Steve M’s and the others continue to be in informing interested non-scientists of the machinations of the various branches of the Climate Change™ industry.
Certainly after AR3 in 2001 and even as late as ‘An Inconvenient Truth [sic]’ (2007) the industry was on a roll, ‘the science’ was settled.
Without blogs how would your average interested layperson who is the ultimate chump in this enterprise come to learn that there was no statistically significant rise in the av. global temperature this century?
Not from the usual information sources, that’s for sure.
And the [snip] hockey stick, and Climategate, and so on — where would we be without you all?

That’s three years running now that her site has won an award, and in three categories.
These Awards things tend to have a life of their own, and this one of become established now as the longest running, at 14 years for Awards for (We)blogs, so it now has its place as well established.
So, while those who support something opposite to what those who come here do, intimate that they are above all this awards business, that Science is more than a blog getting an award, and that awards like this are irrelevant, those who do visit here see at top right those two, and now three Awards and think that maybe this site does what it says, telling people that there actually is another side to the Climate debate, and that it must have credence to be awarded three times.
And, hey, have you ever noticed how it’s always those who are never nominated, or, as blogs, have never received an award like these are the ones who say that awards like this have no real relevance.
Sites like this are not only highly relevant, but are actually important, and Awards like this only confirm just that.

btw never a week goes by without “Their ABC” promoting this or that blogger. for fun, i often check their websites and it’s a miracle if they have 10 comments for any thread, & the content is usually self-centred, trivial & meaningless.
(same goes for the BBC woman at the end of their “Click” program – it shocks me to see the rubbish she promotes.)

I believe we’re seeing history being made here – the popularity of skeptical climate websites is proving to be an alternative to the traditional ways of doing science – something that universities once were.
I read your site every day and enjoy it greatly.

There was a comment far above that I think is very important.
A newspaper article or TV programme can be full of lies but never be corrected. But a blog post can have many comments that amplify/argue/correct/disagree/illustrate/refine the original point.
An observer can then decide for themselves if the original blog article is correct and begin to grasp the level of complexity of the subject from the comments.
Jo Nova has done a wonderful thing by creating this blog and the commentors have done much to challenge/explain/elucidate the points. None of which happens in traditional “opinions written on pulp from dead trees”.
I have learned much from this blog and been entertained. Good enough reason to pay towards its continued existence. Buy more chocolate!
