“the political “betters” amongst us”
Can you imagine these “betters” trying to get a job ‘flipping burgers’ at the local FF-PLACE with no experience in anything? Can you imagine a skinny guy from Niger, showing a well dressed Bankster, the precise moment to flip over, not just this one, but all, to keep up with this moments demand? 🙂
All the best! -will-
Looks like the pro-Brexiters, like Nova have just found a way to reduce CO2 then. Funny how the anti-environmentalists claim to want to protect the economy when it comes to AGW but are happy to trash it for a purely ideological political experiment like Brexit.
It would be funny if that were her reasoning. But instead of responding to your delusions, why not respond to her given reasons?
It’s not like she’s made a secret of them.
are all over 50 has-beens still fighting WWII and railing against Che Guevara. They are the past not the future, all the young people whose lives will be most affected voted to stay and similarly would’nt be on this blog. In Potsdam the feeling is “Good riddance, the Poms have just been complaining wingers for years”.
Funny you should mention this climateskeptic: (my bolding here)
…..are all over 50 has-beens still fighting WWII and railing against Che Guevara.
I’m 65 years old, so I suppose that applies to me, eh ….. railing against Che Guevara.
Yep, I distinctly remember doing just that as a 5 year old. There I was in Kindy, madly rabbitting on about Che and that Cuban Invasion, and all the little boys and girls joining in with me protesting at his antics.
A few years later, I also clearly remember a few one year olds (now nearly 50) debating together and saying how peaceful it was going to be when he died in 1967.
The problem is climateskeptic, you young people haven’t worked that to have your view counted you actually have to vote.
Here are some figures to consider :
Sky Data % of who got through our final #EUref poll turnout filter age group :
You see maybe it is just the fact that older people realise voting is a privilege, that one shouldn’t abused. Perhaps the young people of Australia should remember that in few weeks time.
You must be mathematically illiterate. How would you get a national average of 51.8% out of that lot. You trying to tell that half the British voters are in the 18-24 age group. Where did you get this nonsense?
Like I originally said, its only the 50s+ that voted to leave, still hankering for the lost Empire, and delusional in thinking they can recreate the past.
Some times you just have to laugh at the irony and the chutzpah of those who had a chance to vote on exactly the same grounds as everybody else and didn’t or just couldn’t be bothered as the result was a going to be a definite given in their favour and would be quite supportive of their Kiddy’s Korner ideology as they were so often assured by those Old and Elderly members of the EU Commission’s elite.
And when that democratically carried out vote went against them to their utter shock and horror despite the immense political, financial and funded support plus the disgraceful “Fear and Fright” campaign by the EU supporters, they are now throwing a classic Kiddy’s Korner full scale Tantrum and demanding that a national and fully democratic vote which every registered voter could have participated in if they were so inclined and committed, be overturned because they didn’t take the oppurtunity to vote or just couldn’t be bothered voting and it didn’t turn out at all as supportive of their version of their self promoting and ideological troughing.
So those British oldsters and elderly buggered up the vote for those young Britishers who couldn’t be bothered voting and now they are demanding that they stay with the same old, same old EU Commission still running the whole EU show with a snowballs chance in hell of ever getting any changes of any substance in the way the EU is run and operates today.
So I gather that somebody like Climateskeptic as well as many of a his compatriots with a similar tantrum throwing psychology when they don’t immediately get their own way, are quite happy to live under the authoritarian rule of the elitist Old men and women of the EU Commission without ever getting any EU voting rights or say or having any input into that Old Men and Old Women dominated EU Commission who run and intend to keep running the EU Commission for many years yet unless they are literally forced to change by political and national events and persons outside of their direct and dictatorial control.

Average of the 24 ages provided above of the 28 EU Commissioners = 53.5 years
So if those figures provided by Ross @ #1.2.1.1.5 are near correct, only a little over a third of the 18-24 year olds that were eligible to vote, even bothered to vote.
Of the 25-34 year olds only a bit over half at 58% who were eligible to vote, bothered to vote.
However it now appears that although the Oldsters in the UK are a despicable mob, according to those vote ducking under 34 year olds, who don’t want to get with the trend towards globalisation but who even at an advanced age took the time to cast their vote and give voice to their British citizen’s opinions and their increasing lack of trust in the EU.
Those same eligible to vote under 34 year olds who couldn’t be bothered voting are now apparently quite prepared to live under a dictatorial system run by the Old Men and Women of the EU commission who are not British nor have any loyalty to either the British nation or to the British peoples.
A very strange attitude indeed on part of the British Kiddy’s Korner Tantrum Throwers in that they don’t apparently trust their own citizens and their own people even after they themselves had the right to vote and just couldn’t be bothered going by the figures given above.
Instead they appear to be prepared to place their entire trust in another known to be domineering group of Old Men and Old Women who will never give them as Eu citizens, any rights to challenge them in any way and who have no loyalty at all to the British people and to the British nation.
Foolish, hubrisitic and down to plain even stupid.
Lets look at the figures again. Using the Ugov figures you posted at 1.2.1.1.7 we see 75% of the 18-24 age group who voted, voted remain.
So since only 36% percent of the eligible voters of that age group actually voted that means only 27% of the eligible voters in that age wanted to remain. Similarly with the 25-49 group 56 % who voted said remain. 65% of the age group voted ( I’ve averaged the 58 & 72 in the two closed group from the Sky figures). This means 36.4% of the eligible voters in the group actually voted remain.
Aren’t stats wonderful !
I’d suspect a large percentage of these remain voters, in those age groups, are Green supporters –they love subsidies and hand outs. I acknowledge that your fellow Greens are very good at rallying the troops.
“Some times you just have to laugh at the irony and the chutzpah of those who had a chance to vote on exactly the same grounds as everybody else and didn’t or just couldn’t be bothered as the result was a going to be a definite given in their favour and would be quite supportive of their Kiddy’s Korner ideology as they were so often assured by those Old and Elderly members of the EU Commission’s elite.”
You folks have it so easy! In the US now “every” elected official or candidate for election, or re- election no matter how lowly has an ‘official’ price on its head! Any source of funds that can provide such…. The candidate must have some sort of accident’!
This gets quite interesting, with many, many, opposing sources of vast funds. Stay cool, carefully observe, and quickly reload every piece of brass you can find!
All the best! -will-
Unfortunately they have received a low grade uni education- what with ATAR rankings lower than 30 and all that.Indoctrinated with nonsense that democracy is a capitalist plot and the west is complicitwith crimes against the rest of the world. The young are lazy and over gratified.
If I can recall it correctly, on the radio early this morning some polling agency said similar figures for the 18-24 years band but that was only registered voters. Apparently their polling survey showed ‘up to’ 25% of this group failed to register and made themselves ineligible to vote.
Oh well I thought they might be bright enough to learn a lesson here, however I know that they will just whinge and whine about it, then mope about saying ‘it’s all so unfair!’.
Tough eh?
climate skeptic-I cannot agree with your sentiment regarding the pro-Brexit supporters.
I am sure that there were plenty of young people there who also voted to leave the EU.
The only whingers here are the 14 million who voted to remain and won’t accept they lost!
A completely democratic process and now they want to ‘worm’ their way out of it.
GeoffW
Good riddance, the Poms have just been complaining wingers for years
Oh, and also the second largest paying contributor.
Tony.
Say, is complaining wingers a bit like buffalo wingers, only not as tasty? At least those of us over 50 learned how to spell correctly at school. Laugh Out …… whatever!
Pro Brexit … are all over 50 has-beens still fighting WWII and railing against Che Guevara.
You are just one very confused bunny.
1. WWII started in 1939 and ended in 1945. To have even fought in the last year of that war, a person must now be between 89 and 95 years old. How big do you think that demographic actually is? Sure, 83% of that small demographic probably turned out to vote. But you are talking about 83% of a small number.
2. When you look at the geographical distribution of votes, by age group, the vast majority of those who voted leave, were in the areas with the highest levels of unemployment, and were under 44 years old.
3. And finally when you look at the proportion of people who bothered to vote, which is what the Sky numbers represent, only a third of those under 25 could be bothered to get off their chuffs to vote at all.
Now you are whinging because the bankers and the bureaucrats might have to step up to getting a real job that is actually productive, in the sense of doing something useful.
The senile over 50s shouldn’t be aloud to vote. We have a lower age limit for voting because we accept they are not yet mature enough, we should have an upper limit of say 50 so they cant ruin the world for the next generation. We could tackle pollution and climate change with the people of tomorrow not those of yesterday
Here an example for you. My old granny is now 84 and last week I took here down to prepoll cose I live closest to here and would be away for the election. She hasn’t a clue anymore, voted National all her life. Now she votes Greens because she asks me because “who are you voting for, I dont know what to do” So I give her a Green how to vote and tell, they care about the environment.
Irony is she has now been voting Green almost as long as National.
Want to go for a vote on your proposal? –ha,ha,ha oh stop it hurts!:)
We senile over 50s are allowed to vote and we do! So fucough!
So what are you going to do apart from whinge and whine? Your pathetic!
Why not make it your campaign platform — sorry we would not vote for you.
Ha, how grim reality hit the inexperience and mollycoddled youth, so now just Grow-up
The senile over 50s shouldn’t be aloud to vote. We have a lower age limit for voting because we accept they are not yet mature enough, we should have an upper limit of say 50 so they cant ruin the world for the next generation.
And the day you turn 50, you’ll look in the mirror and say those exact same words.
I can hear the reply now.
“That doesn’t apply to me.”
And as to handing your Granny a Greens how to vote card. You’ve been had!
She’s just looking for a ride to the polling station and a cup of coffee.
So now climateskeptic has to resort to ad hominem – how sad.
I am looking at the breakdowns of votes, by voting place, and then comparing the patterns to the geographic demography.
The thing that has surprised most analysts (including me), was the fact that the north of England – Yorkshire, Lancashire, etc, overwhelmingly voted to leave.
But when I look at the demographics, and economics of those constituencies, the reason becomes clear – unemployment, and lack of prospects for employment in the North of England.
Jobs have moved to other parts of the EU, where the wage rates are lower. Simple economics. The fact that the younger voters were to apathetic to vote, is their problem, and nobody else’s.
Complain all you like, but it comes down to one-person, one-vote, where not voting is taken to mean an abstention.
The age of the voter is immaterial. The maturity of the voter is highly material.
climateskeptic: Please can you supply the actual number of voters when referring to age groups? Percentages don’t convey much.
As an example, 80% sounds impressive. But what if only 10 people voted? That’s a grand total of of 8.
Put another way, 80% of not a lot equals even less!
How are you defining a young person?
And the last time the world cared about Potsdam, the Germans and the French had just lost the war against German and French Tyranny, even if the French sat on the side of the victors. As for the Belgians, the EU is their sweet revenge against everyone for choosing Belgium as their favorite battleground for two hundred years.
I wonder if all the silly kids will be gracious enough to thank the oldies in 10 years time, when history will have proven this decision was not only right, but imperative?
It will be the rotting bones of the EU, & it’s attempt to introduce communism quietly by the back door, rather by the old frontal attack, that the individual states will be picking over, not England.
Especially when individual nations recently liberated from the collective EU debt demographic can start orchestrating their own debt restructuring arrangements to appease creditors.
With Greece as an example, the following example of popular wisdom with respect to Britain is pithy.
Mullah Nassr Edin: “This is the highest punishment: pull at the tail the mane gets stuck, pull at the mane and the tail gets stuck.”
The UK economy, and CO2 output, will thrive. The article at the above link is the frustrated nonsense of an eco-loon whose world is crashing around him. Under pressure, the truth emerges.
Similar to East Germany, it cannot afford for anybody to leave because once there is that opportunity, their whole system collapses.
The Czechs are most likely to be next to Czech-Out from the EU. Unlike Germany, they’re not also entangled utterly in the Eurozone. Luboš has more:
… Czech-out is widely considered the most likely possible departure after Brexit. I know most of the key people on the right from the center who have been defending Czech-out for years in person. For example, member of the European Parliament Petr Mach said yesterday that he would be honored to become a leader of the Czech-out efforts. …
A) someone who wishes to break the laws of physics and not be surrounded by any environment whatsoever?
B) Someone who dislikes those who call themselves ‘environmentalists’ in order to disguise political ambition, viewpoint and goals behind a more socially acceptable cause?
C) Your semi-literate attempt at an insult?
D) Someone who turns a blind eye to heavy metal/organic compound contamination in air/soil, and water, bad air quality, shockingly unsafe working conditions, deforestation, overfishing, soil erosion, bird kills by wind turbines, and archaic and excessively destructive/inefficient mining practices, all because they see Carbon Dioxide as the most evil thing ever released into the air by humans. (but only those humans who come from developed countries, it would be ‘racist’ to complain about any other countries).
Please excuse further response to The Jester …
Brother, with love …
I know you guys want to save the world and all, but ya’ gotta work on your logic skills and your fact base.
Anyone who follows this subject knows that many skeptics are anything but anti-environment. Our issue is with some of the details of CO2 in the atmosphere and the political misuse and misrepresentation of the science.
Secondly, “purely ideological political experiment.”
What other kind is there???
Good Gaia, where do you guys get this stuff?
USSR USA the EU?
Please guide me to the non-ideological politics aisle at K-Mart.
Seriously dude, try not to show up to a stick fight with a banana.
Of all the things in this world that are not excited over human affairs, CO2 has got to be at or very near the top of the list. It cares not one iota about what we think or do. 😉
“Why are you so willing to be the fool? Court Jester might suit you better. Even if you think otherwise, life does not revolve around CO2.”:
This response to Jester is appropriate! When called out by Andy, your response is not only inappropriate,..; it’s insulting! For jew, I hab new class on gross insulting procedures, when necessary! 🙂
It’s Sunday morning after a tumultuous and historic week, and a numbnuts comes out with that sad drivel. Nothing is going to dent my days of drawn-out savour. So, in the inimitable words of Forest Gump, Jester is as Jester does, and in this case, we shrug with pity at the wilful ignorance.
I’m not sure that accountable government really counts as a purely ideological political experiment anymore.
Perhaps two hundred years ago. By now though, most of us consider it well tried and desirable. Post-democratic politics may well be the way of the future but as yet, there are still enough of us who think democracy should be defended.
The postscript to that is that once democracy is no longer defended or thought desirable, the very people who thumb their noses at it now will surly regret it then.
It’s that old saying about how those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it. If by chance I’m still around then I promise you I’ll laugh at their complaints.
Maybe you should personally try the alternative, a long vacation in North Korea?
The voting method there if very equitable — everyone must vote for available candidate. The kind of system you would approve of I’m sure.
On Brown Coal. Even the Victorian government is dead against evil brown coal. This is our taxes at work. Like many other government authorities they spread the idea..
“It creates more pollution than other fuels such as black coal, natural gas and much more than clean renewable energy, making Victorians among the most greenhouse polluting people per capita on the planet.”
and “This high moisture content makes long distance transportation uneconomic and so brown coal is not currently used for export markets. But that doesn’t mean big polluting companies don’t want to try. Check out the story behind our campaign against exporting brown coal”
This is our government, using our taxes to campaign against the export of our coal. Thanks. They even stopped the sale of $400million of brown coal to India. As The Age said, they were going to make the coal ‘blacker’ by removing the water. A crime against humanity seemingly, but who in their right mind would ship a product which was 2/3 water?
Whether you accept that CO2 is evil and is causing the warming which is not happening and the Climate Change which is not happening, the fundamental facts are wrong with this commonly accepted statement.
The common argument is that while Victorian Brown Coal is 66% water, it takes three times as much coal to produce the same amount of power and more to evaporate the water. However three times the tons does not mean three times the CO2 as the coal is 2/3 water. To be fair, I had accepted this argument too, without checking.
However the CO2 from various fuels in power stations is actually (tons of CO2/Terajoule)
Hard coal 94.6
Lignite 101.2
Natural gas 56.1
and our precious Bass Strait Natural gas is running out quickly.
So the super evil brown coal is only 7% more CO2 than black coal? Now that’s hardly worth closing our major power generating station but that is the plan of the Victorian government in their campaign against our quality of life. It is now also the view of the new French owners. Then what are the poor people of Tasmania and South Australia going to do when the wind stops and the water runs out? Are we going to buy power from them?
Yes, the Victorian government is probably mad, or so indoctrinated by the AGW hypothesis as to make totally irrational decisions.
For most of last week the SE Aust. wind turbines were producing at between 30 and 70% capacity, but midnight on Friday production slowed and by 9.am Saturday it was only 10%, or around 400 MW where it stayed all day. But for both the S. Aust. and Victoria turbines production was only 6-7% and it was a little windier in NSW.
At 6 pm yesterday Eastern Aust. was consuming 28,000 MW of electricity made up of 24,000 MW of fossil fuel generation (mainly coal), 3,750 MW of Hydro and about 250 MW of wind energy and no solar input.
If the renewable energy industry is going to replace this consumption most of the countryside would have to be covered with wind turbines and solar panels. A rough calculation for Saturday at 6 pm would be 28,000 x 3669/250 = 411,000 MW of nameplate capacity of Wind turbines occupying a minimum of 205,000 sq. km. of coastal sites. Metro Melbourne plus Sydney is 20,000 sq. km., so ten times this area.
Yes governments seem to believe in the global warming hypothesis, but clearly renewable energy is not a rational response as it just will not work.
At 2 pm the NSW wind turbines of 651 MW capacity are totally idle and the S. Aust. and Victorian turbines are now producing 1300 MW or at 44% capacity.
Production is all over the shop, but how does one convince the politicians that renewable energy is not a commercial proposition before their blackouts come?
I remember 1989 when the Iron Curtain cracked and the Wall tumbled down and all the fixed certainties of the Cold War became irrelevant. Is this a similar moment? A rejection of big government, of technocrats telling us how to live our lives, an uprising against the constraints of received wisdom and the censorship of questioning authority through political correctness? I hope so. 1989 brought great gains but then peoplebecame complacent in the ensuing prosperity, then yielded their freedoms for security under the real threat of Islamofascism and the false threat of CAGW. Time to take it back!
However, 52% have asserted their authority over the 48%. What next?
How many % of the Remain vote were undecided or voted Remain because they expected it to win? a%. Probably a considerable % number. These people will support the new order, increasing the 52%.
How many people supporting Remain benefited directly from the status quo? b%. Bearing in the long run much more weight per %, because 1. They had the power and want to retain it, and 2. They believe their personal well being depends on Remain.
So, no matter that 2.5 million may’ve already declared their intention to Remain,if the referendum was run again tomorrow, what would the percentages be? My logic says maybe 60/40 to leave. The barrier has been broken. In the long run, as usual the losers will use every dirty trick in their repertory.
Meanwhile, the market volatility is no more than the punters big and small scrambling to pass their losses on to someone else.
Brilliant as always. In confirmation of my rant against uselessly shutting our ‘polluting’ Brown coal stations he notes the British ruling class are ” no less determined than the EU to damage our economic and environmental interests by shutting down vital coal-fired power stations and carpeting our once green and pleasant land with windmills.”
Andrew Bolt, apparently quoting Laurie Oakes yesterday: “BEWARE the swivel-eyed loons. That is a message the (now former) British Prime Minister David Cameron got loud and clear yesterday.”
Laurie, did you really say that? If so it’s low. And it’s primitive. And it merits punishment.
The momentous events of the last few days are not even over but we have to turn our minds to our our election which is less than one week away now. I am looking for more representatives of minor parties to take their place in the senate. Perhaps we can discuss which ones.
“The 2015 year highlighted the growing momentum for countries to voluntarily embrace putting a price on carbon pollution, as a means of cutting emissions.
The report, Carbon Pricing Watch 2016, shows four new carbon pricing initiatives – in the Republic of Korea, Portugal, Canada’s British Columbia province, and Australia – were launched, or have been in the works, since 2015.”
. . .
Thanks Mal. Didn’t vote for that.
Not that I have any confidence Tony Abbott would have behaved any differently.
Abbott “got rid of the carbon (sic) tax”, but left all the bureaucracy and frameworks in place for it’s return.
Viv Forbes’ advice says to reward the cinos who voted for Abbott over Turnbull in the HoR.
But, I don’t want my vote to go to Turnbull, even if he is surrounded by ministers who didn’t vote for him.
I am wavering to this line of thinking:
. “The ALP stinks to high hell, but an ALP government with a conservative opposition is far less dangerous than a Malcolm Turnbull led government with
a compliant left wing opposition.
(Also, an unworkable senate of minor parties will thwart any passing of bills by the difficult nature of it.)
. An ALP government will be easily removed after 3 years, a Malcolm Turnbull led government will not.
. A Turnbull led government will implement a string of detrimental changes to our political system and way of life that can never be undone.
The LNP member for my seat of McPherson on the GC, Karen Andrews, who voted for Tony Abbott.
I hate Turnbull, and have said a party he leads will never get my vote.
Handjive. ” an ALP government with a conservative opposition is far less dangerous than a Malcolm Turnbull led government with a compliant left wing opposition.”
Spoken like a true DelCon. What’s wrong with you? Get back into the real world!
If on July 3 we find ourselves with a Marxist government, it will be the Delusional Conservatives who must carry the blame. And nothing that they or we can do to fix it.
I urge all the Qld readers to vote for One Nation in the Senate. It needs 15% to ensure Malcolm Roberts gets a seat. I’ve known Malcolm for seven years now. He was the leader of our group that war gamed six months before Gillard announced she was going to introduce a tax on CO2.
Malcolm, like others, put his life on hold to fight this madness and in my opinion, is an unsung hero in this fight. He is working towards the end game. A Parliamentary inquiry into this so called “Climate Change”. After such…the final phase. I’ve spoken here before of it. The courts!
If Malcolm fails to get a seat and Pauline does, he will have to speak through her. I believe to ensure the best outcome, Malcolm needs to be in the Senate.
On another note…my second bloc of votes under the line will be going to ALA. The reason why ALA can’t get their advertising accepted by The Australian and other papers should be let known. Andrew Bolt is too scared to reveal it. Malcolm Turnbull has been standing over the papers to prevent the Party from getting exposure.
For this reason alone, I will be putting the LNP last in the Lower House.
The frantic ‘Remainders’ are pushing on a Petition for a second Referendum, claiming that there was too small a gap between Leaving and Remaining.
I would place good cash on the distinct possibility that the ones who sign up are also the ones who did NOT vote because it was so clear that the ‘Remainders’ would win!
It would do them no good because a lot of those ‘scared’ into voting Remain will have realised that the sky hasn’t fallen and the biblical plagues haven’t happened, contrary to what was claimed, and so will either not vote or change to the Exit view.
What’s sad is that the 18-25 years olds are complaining that the ‘old’ people voted away their future. I wonder what that ‘future’ is that they are losing? I wonder what the 26+ years old think about that view?
They’re looking forward to a post-democratic future, in which they don’t have to bother having a say in who rules them, because whoever is chosen is likely to know more about governing than they do.
They’ll be well protected too, in this orderly new world, because their masters will make thousands of new regulations to ensure that everything will be regulated.
Firstly (the power of the ignorant and social media):
“There are entire continents, sub-Saharan Africa or the Indian sub-continent where people are developing rapidly, they’re getting connected,” he said. “They’re going to need electricity, they’re going to need energy, but if they duplicate the ways that we produce energy here, or have in the past, then the entire planet is under water.”
Obama urged the world to use social media to work together to solve climate change before it was too late.
I omitted to block quote the first of Obama’s statements and made a full stop error in the last sentence. And I should have said ‘…and reliance on social media.’, not so much a typo, but a context error. Yes, social media will solve all the world’s problems through ‘hash tags’.
The young are naturally upset, a lot of them didn’t bother to vote because they thought it was in the bag. They think the baby boomers are an ignorant greedy lot who need to be put down, whereas the older voters reckon the youngsters have been brainwashed into thinking CO2 causes global warming and borders should be opened up to more immigrants from the Eastern Bloc.
“While not all Euroskeptics are climate skeptics, few climate skeptics are not also Euroskeptics,” the environmental analysis group E3G said in a private briefing note on the possible effects of the referendum. This means any new government could, for instance, scrap the country’s renewable energy targets and tax on high-polluting power plants.
‘A post-Cameron leadership could also change the country’s approach to the Paris climate agreement. “It could potentially submit a highly ambitious [nationally determined contribution] to the U.N., it could ramp down its ambition, or it could ignore it, which would be a blow to the whole process,” said Will Nichols, a senior environment and climate change analyst at the risk advisory firm Verisk Maplecroft.’
I think many of the young moaning about this result are Greenies and they are being fed all the BS to spread around the internet. You have to credit the Green elite –they can see the significance of this result and it doesn’t look good for their religion.
The wisdom of youth. The young have yet to make a contribution to society and yet say their vote should count for more than those who have given a lifetime’s work.
Boris Johnson maybe chosen bu the Party to replace Cameron.
The great helmsman is in favor of fracking and also believes we are heading towards a mini ice age, the latter is uncertain but its fair to say the UK is not ready for a Gleissberg.
Do we have here politically correct “science” designed to produce the desired result? These researchers claim the 2001 analysis of Mungo Man remains was incorrect in its conclusion that Mungo Man was a different group than modern Aborigines. Aborigines were always against the idea that anyone but they were the first migrants to Australia. So this new research group analyses other Mungo remains probably no older than one or two thousand years in comparison to the original 2001 analysis on a 42,000 old specimen and conclude that the modern sample is the same as modern Aboriginals thus invalidating the claim based on the 42,000 year old specimen that it was not related to modern Aborigines.
I have just been re-reading When Money Dies by Adam Fergusson about the hyperinflation in Germany (and Austria and Hungary) in the early 1920’s and see parallels look ominous. All 3 countries were overloaded with debt to a level they couldn’t repay.
The case wasn’t helped by the inability of the German government to take decisive action, nor apparently to even foresee the end that British diplomats could see well in advance. Instead it tried to “muddle through” with a series of higher taxes, efforts to deflect public criticism with pay increases which increased the cost of living, paying subsidies to favoured industries and ignoring the advice that contradicted what they wanted to believe. The major parties all doing the same thing.
The Left stirred up much unrest, apparently ignorant of the causes while putting the blame on those apparently better off when, in many cases, they were suffering the most, and calling for futile actions. The violence they used increased public support for the far Right. The whole mess spiralled into hyperinflation and eventually into dictatorship (rule by decree before Hitler).
So in the Western democracies we have huge debts, which it is doubtful in the case of many countries that they can ever pay. We have a rigid bureaucracy in charge, especially in the EU, governments raising taxes and the cost of living by subsidies to certain industries (e.g. renewable energy) and deaf to advice that contradicts their beliefs. And pumping vast amounts of money (quantitative easing) into a suffering economy. The Left still blames everyone except themselves and still advocates whatever sounds good in their ears but would make things worse.
And we get to vote for Tweedledee or Tweedledum next Saturday. Have a good day!
Graeme, it’s simpler than that. They are working by the textbooks. And most of them have not the intelligence to understand what they read, to see behind the page.
Whose textbooks, you ask?
There is no Australian Labor Party. It breathed its last as they knifed Bill Hayden. The modern ALP is a Marxist party in the Fabian mould. Led by an Oxford education.
Hawke, Fraser, Turnbull, Abbott all read the Oxford texts. So too John Stone, who did have the intelligence to see through it. Turnbull and Abbott are about to be found out. I am still hoping that the finding will be positive.
Ian McLachlan, who I saw as a key player, got it at Cambridge. I never doubted McLachlan’s good intentions, but the policies that he and Andrew Robb initiated at the National Farmers’ Federation have halved the number of small business capitalists engaged in farming in Australia. Half way home for the Marxists and gathering pace. Those policies were founded in what they call Free Market Theory.
FMT fails at its foundation, in its very name, because it fails to recognise that The Market is not free if it is not free for all. Far from freeing “The Market”, FMT has relentlessly developed the program of the “Socialists”, the Marxists.
So the modern ALP’s primary objective is to destroy the capitalist system so that they can install a Marxist system, no matter what the cost. Scorched Earth is their policy. It’s OK by them for people to die of cold because they feared the cost of warmth. And it goes all the way to letting people die of starvation or genocide driven by food shortages, which to date has only been happening out of sight. But if they are allowed to govern, anarchy will come much closer to home.
My comment was caught in the auto bot, so I’ll repeat: Boris Johnson could be the new PM by October and he believes we are heading into a mini ice age.
We are indeed heading toward a period of global cooling according to the regular natural cycles of the climate. And unlike harmless warming, cooling will have serious effects such as reduced agricultural outputs. And by the time it happens the world will be overly reliant on “renewable” energy which won’t be able to supply enough energy for everyone to keep warm.
I understood that the environmental paradigm is think globally, act locally.
People breathe in air that has 400ppm million of CO2.
Exhaled breathe has 4000ppm of CO2.
true environmentalists acting locally should stop breathing out.
Problem solved.
The most dangerous gas in our atmosphere is Oxygen; get too much of that in your bloodstream and You have alkylosis and will pass over to the next happy land.
At CO2 ppmv 8,000 even the Captain of the sub starts to loose it. That amount demands a reflux to try to inhale more O2. Hard to manage a large ship when you cannot breathe! 🙂
“There are very good reasons why plants do much better if you talk to them 🙂 ”
MY coal black kitten ‘Shadow’ knows everyone!! not just earthlings! Plants, like all else do much better when appreciated! Some demand like my kitten “wars my food”, but mostly petting upon feels so nice. “Are I not the most pearfect tomato ever grown?”

The Brexit result spells the beginning of the end to ‘Ze New World Disorder’,the EU being the ‘mini-me’ version.
The UN (Un-elected Nutters) are next along with their religion of CAGW/CACC.
In fact, a good general rule to follow is be against anything that the ‘Liar in Chief’,El Presidente Obummer stands for!
Also beware of any politicians that advocated for the UK to remain.
Because those that did/do are not for democracy, the people, but are for themselves at the expense of the people ….. tyrants in waiting or tyrants in realtime.
Cameron was obviously a sellout, but did do what he should have: Resign…and many more should follow his lead, both there, and in many other countries.
The first duty of any government is to protect their nation against any and all foreign aggression. Not sell out for financial gain and/or a cozy EU or UN do nothing job!
These are the acts of treasonous criminals, mostly way beyond the scope of the petty that populate the prisons.
So the Brits or some big percentage of them want to hold the election over again. I always thought an election was the final voice of the people. And it should be. Surely we have not sunk so low in our operation of the wheels and levers of the people’s government that we think things can be done over as many times as it takes to get the outcome the complainers want. What BS is this?
If they can do that, why bother with an election at all? Or did they really want the opinion of the people? If so then the election result decides the issue. And the people have now spoken. No redoing it.
BBC is continuing to try to undermine BREXIT at every turn.
last nite, on World Service World Have Your Say, a pro-BREXIT caller complained about EU making laws from Britain, mentioning a figure of 60 or 70 percent.
BBC presenter shouted the called down, saying it had been reality-checked and the real figure was only 13 PERCENT!
8 Jun: BBC: The EU referendum Reality Check: How much UK law comes from the EU?
By Clive Coleman, Legal correspondent
Business for Britain, which wants the UK to leave the EU, says more than 60% of UK law is influenced by EU law…
But some put the figure far lower, at around 13%. So who is right?
In a nutshell it’s somewhere in-between the two – let’s look at why…
If you count all EU regulations, EU-related Acts of Parliament, and EU-related Statutory Instruments, about 62% of laws introduced between 1993 and 2014 that apply in the UK implemented EU obligations.
So, does that mean that the Brexiteers are right?
Not according to many expert lawyers and academics…
So what is the true figure? More than 13% but less than 62% – it depends what you count in and what you leave out. It is safe to say that EU law does have a very significant presence and effect in UK law… http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-eu-referendum-36473105
BBC Reality Check: EU Referendum: 13% of our laws from Europe?
Scottish Conservative leader Ruth Davidson got in an argument with Andrea Leadsom about how many of our rules come from Europe.
“[She] said 60% of our laws are made in Europe, and it’s simply not true – 13% of our laws, according to the independent House of Commons Library, that number is 13%.”
The 13% figure refers to laws, rather than rules and regulations, which was what Andrea Leadsom referred to.
But you could make a decent argument for any figure between about 13% and 60% http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-eu-referendum-36473105
Labour Leader has sacked the career politician Viscount Stansgate’s son (aka Hilary Ben, son of Anthony Neil Wedgwood Benn) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hilary_Benn
Don’t you just love the idea of those rich titled people in a socialist party.
Master statistician Gavin at NASA says ‘Remain’ won the vote.
He has re-analysed the figures and he say when he applies the correct adjustments to the data it is obvious the ‘Remain’ group won by 97%. Mr M. Mann concurs with this outcome saying that the Yamal effect was not properly considered on the first count.
Ouch indeed! I am wondering how many well-intentioned, sincere, and otherwise real scientists are pulling their hair out, wondering if their results are tainted because the lab reported fraudulent results?
All it takes is one morally-compromised ends-is-better-than-the-means tech to torsionally insert the pooch and all goes by-by.
“If paid for by the public, each and every attempted measurement of anything, need be retained, as the very, very best-us measurement of whatever we were trying to measure, then and there! In all of science there can never be any justification for replacement/adjustment for those measured numbers. This does not care of what measurement was attempted. In my experience, it was more than four years before anyone (including me) had a clue of what may have been measured! Some want political BS, others only want the original numbers, plus the best history on what measurement was attempted (when/where)!
All the best! -will-”
A doubt that any shall ever appear, at that site! 🙂
It’s really unlikely that the UK will leave the EU, even with the LEAVE side winning the recent referendum. There will be some serious changes ahead for the UK but leaving the EU isn’t one of them.
First it’s likely that Scotland will hold another referendum on whether or not to stay in the UK, however, that was likely even if the REMAIN side won. However, this time around the vote to leave the UK is likely to pass.
Northern Ireland may vote on joining Ireland. Whether or not it will pass is anyone’s guess.
Leaving the EU is a different matter. Already we’re seeing many people who voted to LEAVE are regretting their decision and now asking for another referendum. I doubt there’ll be another vote soon but another vote is likely in 3 or 4 years time maybe sooner.
Let me explain. To leave the EU there’s lots of work to do and the UK parliament has to do work and vote on leaving. The UK bureaucracy also has lots of work to do.
Problem is most of the politicians voted to REMAIN. About 60% of the Conservatives and well over 90% of Labour are REMAIN supporters. Also according to what I’ve read the overwhelming majority of the permanent civil service in the UK are REMAIN supporters. That’s not really a surprise. Bigger country and economy equals more pay and prestige for the civil service.
There’s a two year time period to wrap things up to leave the EU, with time extensions possible. With the vast majority of UK politicians and civil service being REMAIN supporters it’s likely they will take their time to do the work to leave the EU. An extension of the time period to wrap up things is likely.
During this time period look for all the negative impacts of leaving the EU to be front and centre in the news. Also if Scotland and Northern Ireland do vote to leave the UK, the UK will have less to offer the EU when negotiating trade deals post exit.
While all the negotiating is going on and 3 or 4 years have passed the UK government, which will probably be even stronger REMAIN supporters is likely to say let’s do another referendum to make sure LEAVE is still the preferred option.
At the time if the UK economy hasn’t improved and with all the negative news about leaving the EU (think far worse than what’s been said recently) it’s entirely possible the REMAIN side could easily win a second referendum. If this happens a third referendum is unlikely.
In addition the Sun is going into hibernation, astrophysical FACT, dull SUN = COLD EARTH. it happend 300 years ago (mini ice-age,without mammoths! :)) and also about 200 years ago , Maunder and Dalton minimums.
John Casey Predicts 2016 Mini Ice Age Begins & NASA Hides TSI Data | Mini Ice Age 2015-2035, solar activity is at lowest for decades, 10.7 cm flux lowest since 1955! Solar wind drops = more cosmic rays. Cycle 25 will be a fizzer! Hardly any spots.
Can we order a side of mammoths to go with the upcoming mini-ice-age? That would be too cool. Entirely.
We have the knowledge, and the tech.
Come on, lets! Mammoths for everyone!
Otherwise, MORE CO2 NOW please.
(Only way I will enjoy cold is if there are mammoths. And maybe saber-toothed giant cats. We can feed the climate scientists to the cats. Don’t know what we’d feed to the mammoths)
Just wanted to say we attended the Australian flag march in Melbourne today, it’s a sad day when simply gathering to show your support for our national flag is met by hateful violent organised Marxists who’s behaviour is so bad hundreds of police are required to contain them.
To the young people that threw urine and faeces at us near parliament house I hope one day many years from now you look in the mirror and realise how much of an immature degenerate you had become all for the cause of a political system that history consistently proves is an abject failure in what you believed it stood for today.
I’ll add IF you make old bones because from experience you are the biggest threat to people like yourselves.
Please remember that your of-sprouts need learn only how to piss you off in only a microsecond. They have spent 14 years learning nothing else!. Now between the sprouts 4 years between the 16 and 20 years old; you and momma have learned so very much, tis truly unbelievable!! Please enjoy! For the sprouts, learning to operate bicycle is important, weeding strawberries or no dinner is important, learning that there are others bigger and badder than you, is most important. But getting that huge hug from mom or dad, at just the right time is the most important of all!
All the best! -will-
You all had BREXIT and other such fun things to worry about, and be excited about. Where I am, all we had was a basketball game that let CLEVELAND win a championship – after 52 years of nada! And we had one of the worlds largest gatherings of people with no riots!
This is one of the best lines a warmist has ever uttered:

And more efficiently.
Can I suggest that the Battle of Britain has been commenced, if not won, this week???
I hope that we will realise the political “betters” amongst us have to earn their living as ell??
Cheers,

“the political “betters” amongst us”
Can you imagine these “betters” trying to get a job ‘flipping burgers’ at the local FF-PLACE with no experience in anything? Can you imagine a skinny guy from Niger, showing a well dressed Bankster, the precise moment to flip over, not just this one, but all, to keep up with this moments demand? 🙂

Looks like the pro-Brexiters, like Nova have just found a way to reduce CO2 then. Funny how the anti-environmentalists claim to want to protect the economy when it comes to AGW but are happy to trash it for a purely ideological political experiment like Brexit.
448
It would be funny if that were her reasoning. But instead of responding to your delusions, why not respond to her given reasons?
It’s not like she’s made a secret of them.
223
are all over 50 has-beens still fighting WWII and railing against Che Guevara. They are the past not the future, all the young people whose lives will be most affected voted to stay and similarly would’nt be on this blog. In Potsdam the feeling is “Good riddance, the Poms have just been complaining wingers for years”.
325
Oh, I dunno.
Even little kids can figure it out.
(scroll to short video half way down the page)
71
Funny you should mention this climateskeptic: (my bolding here)
I’m 65 years old, so I suppose that applies to me, eh ….. railing against Che Guevara.
You lefties sure have no concept of time.
Tony.
223
Che was a sadistic murderer with a penchant to shoot kids in the face. But I guess you too young to know that and I am to old to tell you this?
193
“”‘Germans want a vote on the EU too’ Merkel hell as Germany calls for UK-style referendum” 🙂 🙂
http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/653976/Germany-EU-referendum-AfD-Angela-Merkel-migrant-crisis
Be strong, CS.. no tears, there’s no new tax-payer nappy for you.
144
The problem is climateskeptic, you young people haven’t worked that to have your view counted you actually have to vote.
Here are some figures to consider :
Sky Data % of who got through our final #EUref poll turnout filter age group :
18-24 36%
25-34 58%
35-44 72%
45-54 75%
55-64 81%
65+ 83%
You see maybe it is just the fact that older people realise voting is a privilege, that one shouldn’t abused. Perhaps the young people of Australia should remember that in few weeks time.
193
Voter turnout:
The irony. Oh how it burns!
Tony.
143
You must be mathematically illiterate. How would you get a national average of 51.8% out of that lot. You trying to tell that half the British voters are in the 18-24 age group. Where did you get this nonsense?
318
Hmm!
First English, and now I see that maths is not your strong point either.
Tony.
214
Tony, he could not possibly understand what you are saying. Anyhow, I calculated the average of all those as being 67.5%.
KK
54
Those percentages are the percentage of each age who voted !! It is not those who voted the Leave. Go back to school.
113
Sorry KK ,that comment was a direct reply Climate Skeptic.
62
Yes Ross, I assumed that you saw the sarcasm in my comment.
🙂
53
Exactly, so it means that the vast majority under 45s voted to stay.
37
http://i1.wp.com/cdn.bgr.com/2016/06/yougov-politico.png?w=625
25
52% of the population voted for BREXIT 🙂
Get over it.. and stop being a whiny little child. !
124
Like I originally said, its only the 50s+ that voted to leave, still hankering for the lost Empire, and delusional in thinking they can recreate the past.
412
END OF STORY !!!
Cry all you want… chuck a tantrum like your no-hoper UK left-outer mates.
Its funny to watch. 🙂
104
Hey, a new expression for those children who didn’t vote. 🙂
114
Yes the old, the bitter, the twisted with illusions of past grandeur, remind you of anyone?
311
5am in Potsdam.. and you’ve been up for 2 hours or more.
Very lonely, and in seeking some attention are you CS.
Poor child.
74
Ive been out partying, when you are young and don’t need Osteopanadal its not that bad
27
Explains the drunken and emotional posts from you, hey.
83
Out all night.. and STILL ALONE at 5am in the morning.
Now why would that be. 😉
SAD, so sad.
93

Be very careful what you wish for.
You might just get your wish.
131
Brilliant list, ROM..
Without even getting out a calculator..
I’m going to say the average ages is about 52%
51
“advanced age took the time to cast their vote “
And believe me, its takes ages for all those mobility scooters and walking frames to get through the polling booth. !
61
They won’t even let you in, if your mobility conveyance is a Harley. My old man was real ticked off, he was.
70
I tried to do that once with a Yamaha 500 dirt bike! Spent 3 days in jail!
Will you lead the run up the mountain and leap into the volcano to stop CO2 emanations? Or is someone else to do that while you sip your tea?
40
Climateskeptic
30
-will-
00
All those non-voting 18-24 year olds have learn their very first lesson about DEMOCRACY. 🙂 🙂
You had the option to vote, and didn’t take it.
STIFF CHEDDAR !!!!!
144
Unfortunately they have received a low grade uni education- what with ATAR rankings lower than 30 and all that.Indoctrinated with nonsense that democracy is a capitalist plot and the west is complicitwith crimes against the rest of the world. The young are lazy and over gratified.
60
That’s what you call social justice.
82
Ross,
If I can recall it correctly, on the radio early this morning some polling agency said similar figures for the 18-24 years band but that was only registered voters.
Tough eh?
62
climate skeptic-I cannot agree with your sentiment regarding the pro-Brexit supporters.
I am sure that there were plenty of young people there who also voted to leave the EU.
The only whingers here are the 14 million who voted to remain and won’t accept they lost!
A completely democratic process and now they want to ‘worm’ their way out of it.
GeoffW
112
worm.. a very apt description. 🙂

Geoff

Best left to join his fellows, the “educated” group of friends.

Noddy don’t believe every(any)thing you read in the British Press. Just tell me again in 12mts time how good the Brits have got it. They are already reneging on their promises like the £350 million pledge to fund the NHS. This disappeared the next day. They should all be locked up for Fraud.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/06/24/nigel-farage-350-million-pledge-to-fund-the-nhs-was-a-mistake/
213
Thanks for highlighting JUST HOW MUCH EXTRA the Brits will be able to spend IN THEIR OWN COUNTRY 🙂
Maybe they can send you some NHS money to get that foot out of your mouth… it seem to be a permanent fixture.!
63
Yep, and I repeat they should all be locked up for fraud just like those climate alarmists who promote and perpetuate the global warming scam.
[quit trying to start a riot] ED
00
Oh, and also the second largest paying contributor.
Tony.
Say, is complaining wingers a bit like buffalo wingers, only not as tasty? At least those of us over 50 learned how to spell correctly at school. Laugh Out …… whatever!
164
And here was I thinking it was chicken wingers.
20
163
So why the adds featuring WW11 complete with Spitfires heading across the channel
You are delusional, the vast majority of uder 44s voted to stay, only the old farts voted to leave
28
Then there are the LEFT-OUTERS..
and STOP CRYING !!! Its PATHETIC.
63
The senile over 50s shouldn’t be aloud to vote. We have a lower age limit for voting because we accept they are not yet mature enough, we should have an upper limit of say 50 so they cant ruin the world for the next generation. We could tackle pollution and climate change with the people of tomorrow not those of yesterday
211
I knew BREXIT would upset you.
But this is more fun than we could ever have hoped for. 🙂
81
You are having one childish tantrum after another.
Please keep going 🙂
51
Here an example for you. My old granny is now 84 and last week I took here down to prepoll cose I live closest to here and would be away for the election. She hasn’t a clue anymore, voted National all her life. Now she votes Greens because she asks me because “who are you voting for, I dont know what to do” So I give her a Green how to vote and tell, they care about the environment.
Irony is she has now been voting Green almost as long as National.
111
Im going to be now to catch a few Nods before the conference doors open at 9
15
Granny, mindless voting, with your help… still mindless.
51
climateskeptic
Want to go for a vote on your proposal? –ha,ha,ha oh stop it hurts!:)
We senile over 50s are allowed to vote and we do! So fucough!
So what are you going to do apart from whinge and whine? Your pathetic!
Why not make it your campaign platform — sorry we would not vote for you.
Ha, how grim reality hit the inexperience and mollycoddled youth, so now just Grow-up
52% That’s enough!
82
Didn’t even need golden point!
So, nowhere even close to being close.
Tony.
41
“So I give her a Green how to vote and tell, they care about the environment”
That’s pretty nasty, LYING to your Granny. !!
But that’s you.
51
Oh! Laugh out …..whatever!
Cue Curly
Tony.
And as to aloud voting. Nup! We just do it quietly, and get out of there.
51
81
roflmao.
My Mum is 90 this year..
I can just imagine the response if ANYONE ever tried to tell her how to vote…
… even Dad wouldn’t dare 🙂 !!
My brother, sister and I know better than to even ask..
And no its not an automatic vote.. its always a well researched one.
She has her own mind and knows how to use it. !
61
climateskeptic: Please can you supply the actual number of voters when referring to age groups? Percentages don’t convey much.
As an example, 80% sounds impressive. But what if only 10 people voted? That’s a grand total of of 8.
Put another way, 80% of not a lot equals even less!
How are you defining a young person?
40
Rereke @ # 12:01 pm.
Maybe two thirds of the under 25s believe they haven’t seen enough to be competent. Maybe they have confidence in their elders.
10
Remember to listen to your children, while they still think they know everything.
51
And the last time the world cared about Potsdam, the Germans and the French had just lost the war against German and French Tyranny, even if the French sat on the side of the victors. As for the Belgians, the EU is their sweet revenge against everyone for choosing Belgium as their favorite battleground for two hundred years.
61
I wonder if all the silly kids will be gracious enough to thank the oldies in 10 years time, when history will have proven this decision was not only right, but imperative?
It will be the rotting bones of the EU, & it’s attempt to introduce communism quietly by the back door, rather by the old frontal attack, that the individual states will be picking over, not England.
83
Actually, Hasbeen, they will. It is wonderful what a wife, a mortgage and a couple of kids does for a young firebrand’s outlook.
Not that I have confidence that this kid will reach any of those achievements.
30
Especially when individual nations recently liberated from the collective EU debt demographic can start orchestrating their own debt restructuring arrangements to appease creditors.
With Greece as an example, the following example of popular wisdom with respect to Britain is pithy.
Mullah Nassr Edin: “This is the highest punishment: pull at the tail the mane gets stuck, pull at the mane and the tail gets stuck.”
10
The UK economy, and CO2 output, will thrive. The article at the above link is the frustrated nonsense of an eco-loon whose world is crashing around him. Under pressure, the truth emerges.
222
Oh, and the “purely ideological political experiment” is the EU. It failed.
271
Similar to East Germany, it cannot afford for anybody to leave because once there is that opportunity, their whole system collapses.
The Czechs are most likely to be next to Czech-Out from the EU. Unlike Germany, they’re not also entangled utterly in the Eurozone. Luboš has more:
91
What is an anti-environmentalist? Is it:
342
“What is an anti-environmentalist?”
Someone that wants to starve the world’s plant life.
192
I am an anti-environmentalist.
I want to ban all environments, everywhere.
Having environments only causes arguments, and creates a lot of work and expense, cleaning up after those people who want to protect the damn things.
100
Pardon me for brining it up again but am reminded of outside the environment
20
I is an American.
I is an American due to a “purely ideological political experiment.”
Just lucky I guess.
Brexit 1776?
130
232
Jester,
Why are you so willing to be the fool? Court Jester might suit you better. Even if you think otherwise, life does not revolve around CO2.
92
“life does not revolve around CO2.”
Sorry Roy, but that is untrue.
CO2 is the absolutely necessary for life on this planet.
Without CO2, there would be no life.
212
Andy, you know exactly what I mean. I do hope I don’t need to explain it to you. 😉
40
CO2 doesn’t revolve when it gets excited…. it vibrates. 🙂
50
Of all the things in this world that are not excited over human affairs, CO2 has got to be at or very near the top of the list. It cares not one iota about what we think or do. 😉
10
Jester, why remain silent and be thought a fool when you can speak out and remove all doubt?
101
“Why are you so willing to be the fool? Court Jester might suit you better. Even if you think otherwise, life does not revolve around CO2.”:
This response to Jester is appropriate! When called out by Andy, your response is not only inappropriate,..; it’s insulting! For jew, I hab new class on gross insulting procedures, when necessary! 🙂
40
Yes Will.. We know that Roy was a very bad boy.. (wags finger at Roy)
But I forgive him.
It is a time to rejoice for the Brits. 🙂
40
It’s Sunday morning after a tumultuous and historic week, and a numbnuts comes out with that sad drivel. Nothing is going to dent my days of drawn-out savour. So, in the inimitable words of Forest Gump, Jester is as Jester does, and in this case, we shrug with pity at the wilful ignorance.
60
You got your name wrong , its not Jester, its ÏÐÎOŢ
101
UK can look forward to a period of PROGRESS…
… away from the
progressivesregressives.BREXIT won… Get over it 🙂
141
I thought we wouldn’t get to see “The day the clown cried” for ten years. 🙁
72
Jester the only climate Brexit destroyed is one of fear.
81
Who taught you that garbage?
41
Probably the University,I would think.
32
“purely ideological political experiment”
Hey, great description of the EU. Thanks Jester. 😉
80
Surely
You
Jest?
41
And want to re read John Smith’s response above at 1.2.5.1
over A few times to savour the flavour.
41
I’m not sure that accountable government really counts as a purely ideological political experiment anymore.
Perhaps two hundred years ago. By now though, most of us consider it well tried and desirable. Post-democratic politics may well be the way of the future but as yet, there are still enough of us who think democracy should be defended.
50
The postscript to that is that once democracy is no longer defended or thought desirable, the very people who thumb their noses at it now will surly regret it then.
It’s that old saying about how those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it. If by chance I’m still around then I promise you I’ll laugh at their complaints.
20
The “remain ” crowd are very surly.
30
Jester; just what are you saying?
Whatever it is, it’s lost on me!
But then you are the jester.
GeopffW
20
Jester,
Maybe you should personally try the alternative, a long vacation in North Korea?
The voting method there if very equitable — everyone must vote for available candidate. The kind of system you would approve of I’m sure.
20
I thought it was the EU that is the ‘wild’ experiment.
10
In fact black coal produces more CO2 per unit of energy at combustion, because there are fewer hydrogens.
Is the government of Victoria quite mad?
190
191
At 2 pm the NSW wind turbines of 651 MW capacity are totally idle and the S. Aust. and Victorian turbines are now producing 1300 MW or at 44% capacity.
Production is all over the shop, but how does one convince the politicians that renewable energy is not a commercial proposition before their blackouts come?
20
I remember 1989 when the Iron Curtain cracked and the Wall tumbled down and all the fixed certainties of the Cold War became irrelevant. Is this a similar moment? A rejection of big government, of technocrats telling us how to live our lives, an uprising against the constraints of received wisdom and the censorship of questioning authority through political correctness? I hope so. 1989 brought great gains but then peoplebecame complacent in the ensuing prosperity, then yielded their freedoms for security under the real threat of Islamofascism and the false threat of CAGW. Time to take it back!
201
It’s the start of the battle, not yet even the end of the beginning.
90
Apparently 2.5 million Britains have already signed a petition saying they want to have the vote over again! Almost unbelievable.
90
2.5 million already? Show us the data!
72
I see that only a third of those 2.5 million were British.
10
See comments below of how many on that petition are actually from UK
60
https://wattsupwiththat.com/2016/06/24/thank-you-america/#comments
The superb, as always, Christopher Monckton on Brexit and its implications.
122
Brilliant as always. In confirmation of my rant against uselessly shutting our ‘polluting’ Brown coal stations he notes the British ruling class are ” no less determined than the EU to damage our economic and environmental interests by shutting down vital coal-fired power stations and carpeting our once green and pleasant land with windmills.”
151
You have to love the Obama contribution to the Brexit.
I did think David Cameron’s speech was gracious and totally appropriate as well as being exceptionally well worded and delivered.
90
Andrew Bolt, apparently quoting Laurie Oakes yesterday: “BEWARE the swivel-eyed loons. That is a message the (now former) British Prime Minister David Cameron got loud and clear yesterday.”
Laurie, did you really say that? If so it’s low. And it’s primitive. And it merits punishment.
We should beware old toads.
(Must remember to turn the mirror to the wall.)
31
How toVote
The momentous events of the last few days are not even over but we have to turn our minds to our our election which is less than one week away now. I am looking for more representatives of minor parties to take their place in the senate. Perhaps we can discuss which ones.
Viv Forbes gives advice on how to vote here.
http://carbon-sense.com/2016/06/25/htv-carbon-sense/
David Leyonhjelm had a very good ad an the ABC last night. Unfortunately he is not in my state. I imagine his party will have a candidate.
61
Quote Viv Forbes: “Ominously, Malcolm Turnbull signed Australia onto the Paris Climate Agreement.”
~ ~ ~
May 25, 2016, The World Bank: Continuing Momentum for Putting a Price on Carbon Pollution
For what it’s worth.
70
Do not put a 1 in the Karen Andrews box then handjive, most especially if she voted for Turnbull.
20
41

80
Turns out that two thirds of them are not british. 357K british out of 1.1m
110
It would do them no good because a lot of those ‘scared’ into voting Remain will have realised that the sky hasn’t fallen and the biblical plagues haven’t happened, contrary to what was claimed, and so will either not vote or change to the Exit view.
70
They were probably never told the old saying “You know what thought thought?”
Oh that’s right old people are dumb and don’t know anything. /sarc.
60
What’s sad is that the 18-25 years olds are complaining that the ‘old’ people voted away their future. I wonder what that ‘future’ is that they are losing? I wonder what the 26+ years old think about that view?
80
They’re looking forward to a post-democratic future, in which they don’t have to bother having a say in who rules them, because whoever is chosen is likely to know more about governing than they do.
They’ll be well protected too, in this orderly new world, because their masters will make thousands of new regulations to ensure that everything will be regulated.
60
It is apparent that the “old people” should not have given birth to those yapping puppies.

Several things grabbed my attention this week.

50
Graeme,
I feel very informal about the lower house vote next week.
I don’t want any of the contestants to get a subsidy and my vote would do nothing anyhow.
Looking forward to making up for that in the upper house.

30
My comment was caught in the auto bot, so I’ll repeat: Boris Johnson could be the new PM by October and he believes we are heading into a mini ice age.
61
We are indeed heading toward a period of global cooling according to the regular natural cycles of the climate. And unlike harmless warming, cooling will have serious effects such as reduced agricultural outputs. And by the time it happens the world will be overly reliant on “renewable” energy which won’t be able to supply enough energy for everyone to keep warm.

I understood that the environmental paradigm is think globally, act locally.
People breathe in air that has 400ppm million of CO2.
Exhaled breathe has 4000ppm of CO2.
true environmentalists acting locally should stop breathing out.
Problem solved.

That is actually 40,000 ppm.

Damned postmodern thinking! 🙁

It is safe to say that EU law does have a very significant presence and effect in UK law…
http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-eu-referendum-36473105
BBC Reality Check: EU Referendum: 13% of our laws from Europe?
Scottish Conservative leader Ruth Davidson got in an argument with Andrea Leadsom about how many of our rules come from Europe.
“[She] said 60% of our laws are made in Europe, and it’s simply not true – 13% of our laws, according to the independent House of Commons Library, that number is 13%.”
The 13% figure refers to laws, rather than rules and regulations, which was what Andrea Leadsom referred to.
But you could make a decent argument for any figure between about 13% and 60%
