What happens when your world view is wrong and you can’t deal with reality?
Climate change: Scientists sad, frustrated as extreme weather becomes the new norm
“There is definitely what you would call ‘climate fatigue’ on the part of scientists,” said Dr Andrew Glikson, from the Australian National University’s School of Archaeology and Anthropology.
“There were hundreds of scientists there, and my impression is while we continue to do the science as best we can, there is a fatigue when it comes to arguing in public.
“You can explain to them as long as you like but if they don’t wish to understand, they won’t.”
There is major cognitive dissonance going on here
Climate scientists know they are right, the media loves them and repeats their message, their fears and even their mood swings. CO2 is a greenhouse gas, levels are rising, what could possibly go wrong? But despite pushing a simple message for 30 years, they can’t convince the people that matter most, the other scientists like meteorologists (survey one, survey two), most geologists and engineers, and thousands of doctors, physicists, chemists, maths guys and all the people who build planes, mobile phones, and walk on the moon and generally get stuff done. Perhaps the other scientists are all stupid, or here’s an alternate reality: perhaps the geography and ecology majors got the model architecture wrong, forgot one major feedback path and the energy they think is cooking our atmosphere is really leaking out the water vapor back door. See the missing hot spot, the decelerating sea levels, the record Antarctic Ice that wasn’t supposed to be there. See all the stories of warm and cold periods, and rising seas, their models can’t explain and all the evidence that shows the sun has a role on our climate that is non-existent in the models. See the scandalous adjustments they keep having to make to all that recalcitrant data that always seems to support skeptics until they “fix it”.
The only solution that stops the sadness is for unskeptical scientists to meet reality. Then at least they won’t have to worry the planet is going to hell. Though they will have to start thinking about the demise of science and the way the research industry has become a cheap political tool full of B-graders who don’t even know the basics of Aristotelian reasoning and the most important parts of the Scientific Method.
Dr Glikson is one of Australia’s leading voices on climate change and last year penned an open letter to Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, signed by more than 150 scientists, demanding more action be taken to ease greenhouse gas emissions.
Andrew Glickson and I had a long debate once. A rare thing. It started here, lasted five long rounds and he asked if I’d publish his sixth reply which I said I’d be happy to, in full and with every reference and graph he wanted.
This coming May it’ll be seven years later and we’re still waiting.
Eric Worrall has set up a petition to help scientists avoid personal CO2 emissions. It’s at change.org petition, Help Climate Scientists avoid Personal CO2 Emissions.
What? Aren’t there enough puppies to go around?

I thought it had all gone to the dogs long ago.

Climate scientists are not at fault for believing government propaganda disguised as “97% consensus science.”

I notice the trademark Leftism at work – the use of victim language…..
Those poor scientists….shouldnt we feel sorry for them…believeing in climate fairy stories, now they feel sad ( 🙁 )

In the United States,
The US NAS has primary responsibility for advising Congress on technical-scientific matters.
The US NAS does this by reviewing annual budgets of federal research agencies for Congress.
The US NAS therefore bears primary responsibility for the misuse of technological-scientific information to deceive the public.

The US NAS established the AGU (American Geophysical Union) on 29 June 1972, as analysis of meteorites, the Earth and Moon samples from the 1969 Apollo Mission started to reveal severe mass-fractionation in the Sun and isotopic anomalies in the Earth and in meteorites from explosive supernova reactions at the birth of the solar system.
41 years ago, AGU adjusted the schedule of presentation at the 1976 National AGU Meeting and thus obscured evidence a single supernova made our elements and birthed the entire solar system:

Sad because of the extreme weather ? We call it summer in Victoria .
212
No day over 100F in Melbourne this summer yet.
180
Cool summer last year, cold summer this year, my tomato’s under delivered because the soil was too cold only 22 deg usually 28. Last night I had to close my balcony door and put on a jumper, IN MID FEBUARY!
192
I am in Gippsland Victoria and my tomatoes are just coming on now too. The quality is fine though.
My dad who has been growing tomatoes for decades is complaining, and being a veteran he explained to me that it is because it has been too cold. And he is in Melbourne which is always about 2 degrees hotter or more than Gippsland due to what some call the heat island effect.
Gippsland has been heater weather at night sometimes weeks in a row. Interspersed with a few warm to hot nights i can count on two hands so far this summer season. Tonight is one of them too.
82
Tomatoes are a very good indicator of local temperatures. When a kept my garden I investigated them and found some good internet advice. This is what I found —
As tomatoes are a warm-season annual that grows best when the soil temperature is at least 55°F (12°C) and the air temperature ranges between 65° and 90°F (18-32°C). Tomatoes require from 50 to more than 90 warm, frost-free days to reach harvest, depends variety and available conditions for that variety — light level, water, and nutrient availability (NOTE — sudden variations in any of these 3 attributes seriously and detrimentally affect the crop). Apply tomato fertilizer by small amounts but often.
Tomatoes grow best when the day temperature is between 65° and 85°F (18-29°C). Tomatoes will not grow in soil cooler than 55°F (13°C) and tomato flowers will not set if the air temperature goes below 55°F. Tomatoes will not ripen and turn red if the night temperature goes above 85°F (29°C) and plants will stop growing if the temperature rises above 95°F (35°C). Different varieties of tomatoes vary only slightly from these temperature ranges, the setting of fruit temperature does not change!
As I found out too late I often failed to produce optimum crops because of my inattention to excessive nighttime temperature variations (Hillside location with rapidly cooling breezes from the coastal winds).
This site HERE offers good advice on growing these fruits. Also of note is the link in the comments there for growing tomatoes indoors under LED lighting.
80
Also of interest maybe ‘Effect of supplementary lighting on selected physiological
parameters and yielding of tomato plants‘ agricultural paper for commercial growers.
50
Tom, I know it is probably a bit selfish of me, but now that humans can cause the climate. …. something similar to the Roman Warm Period or even the Medieval Warm Period would be awesome for tomatoes and could lead to a renaissance in tomatoe growing.
10
Don’t forget, before 1492 there were no tomatoes, potatoes, tobacco, maize or sugar cane. What else?
10
Indeed the sadness of these wimpy ‘Climate Scientists™’ may be significantly relieved by taking-up gardening, especially fruit and nuts.
72
Funny that. I have a friend in Finland who had exactly the same experience.

Nice article. Spot on.

It must be a worry, mortgage is only half paid off and the future of climate science might be on the skids.
Trump intends to dismantle the AGW structure in the US, which must also have a profound effect around the world, yet may differ in approach.
I know a young woman who is employed by a Council to watch sea level rise, she would be wise to look for work elsewhere, At the top end the Klimatariat hierarchy face ridicule and banishment from academia. Is it enough punishment for deceiving the masses for a quarter of a century, probably.
Extreme weather is a global cooling signal and I’m assuming they already know that but are too shy to speak up.
252
Your young lady friend should vary her work to avoid stress. When not watching SL rise/fall she could watch paint, or a wet horse dry. Uses different muscles!
212
I used to favor watching scum form on the pond to make the hours fly by, but now it reminds me too much of climate science in academia.
60
That’s true R2 but we have a problem further up the ladder.
Do we sack all climate scientists and have them reapply for their positions on a lukewarm agenda?
Or perhaps it would be better to have a weeding exercise (that is anyone who has received grant money which mentions AGW) should be eliminated, then we could sprinkle our people throughout CSIRO and BoM to get a debate going in the MSM.
11
Your young friend should consider a career change. I note that there are more honest prostitutes in Canberra than honest climate change scientists.
10
Is this the dumbest thing ever written by Murdoch media on climate?
“The basis for Devine’s article was that the recent heatwave – which the Bureau of Meteorology describes as record breaking, and included a record 46.9°C high for Penrith in Sydney’s west – was just another hot summer.
Proof? Why, in 1837, Sydney had recorded temperatures of 54°C, Devine claimed.”
http://reneweconomy.com.au/is-this-the-dumbest-thing-ever-written-by-murdoch-media-on-climate-94598/
. . .
Is this the dumbest thing ever written by the BoM on climate?
“Australian meteorology in the twentieth century was magnificently served by a tradition of excellence in observational practices and high quality climate records inherited from its pioneers, but these were all simple measurements of quantities such as temperature, wind and rainfall or visual observations of weather, visibility and cloud.”
http://www.austehc.unimelb.edu.au/fam/1613.html
182
Another approach would be to fully allow those who want to use renewable wind power to preferentially use it.
They would be doing the right thing, saving the planet and so forth.
The corollary would be to have their smart meter, in the new integrated grid system, load shed them when there were widespread need to keep the grid stable, due to renewable failure.
They, would be preferentially exposed to the price signal.
There would then be a nexus between their beliefs and actions, they would have skin in the game.
This would be a win win for those who want wind power, who could directly save the planet, and those who want reliable power to run businesses, cook food for their children and keep the vulnerable cool or heated.
It would allow choice in energy, where those who believe that CO2 power is good for them and their families can vote with their meter, so to speak, demanding reliable power.
We need to demand freedom of choice in essentials such as power.
Otherwise we will lose this essential for our own lives, reliable, cheap and despatchable power.
200
The smart meters need to drop power delivery so that those that elect it divide up the renewable power between them. When there is little or no renewable power their power is limited. This allows them to get warts and all renewable energy. For this they need to pay 3 times as much as those that opt for fossil fuel power.
102
I agree, Lewis. However, the powers that be have a different opinion. Catherine Tanna of Energy Australia recently said that we have to transition to renewables and while they were more expensive, they are the only “viable option long term.” And this was after she expressed concern for people with high bills. Talking through both sides of her mouth. Geez.

The NWO mob decided they would shove this nonsense on people, forcibly if necessary.

We’re all going to die. To worry about climate as the cause is SERIOUSLY DUMB, particularly as climate Alchemy’s incorrect physics is obvious to any professional scientist or engineer. OK, it does mean contradicting Planck, Bose and Einstein’s radiative physics, devised for a vacuum, and the atmosphere IS NOT A VACUUM. However, in science you question every assumption and you start by doing a SIMPLE ENERGY BALANCE.
Manabe’s 1964 paper with its assumption of negative feedback was wrong. Cess’ 1976 paper which claimed the ratio of OLR (-18 deg. C) to mean surface radiant exitance (+15 deg. C) was Earth’s radiant emissivity was a serious scientific mistake (you must use the same emission temperature), supposedly confirmed by GISS’ 1976 1-D modelling using Manabe’s negative convection: in 2000 Hansen admitted this was ‘a fudge’ but the 3-D models were fine. That is untrue because it depends on incorrect cloud optical physics derived by Hansen, Sagan and Pollack.
So dear alchemists, find another career. How about balloon tricks at children’s parties or at the beach?
103
I notice one down recommendation. Can the person responsible prove that a GHG containing atmosphere behaves radiatively like a vacuum, i.e. that the mean radiative emission to Earth’s surface is not in contact with the surface?
That means there is no stored energy because there is no space between the two opposing emitters. Therefore Planck’s 2nd Law of thermodynamics and Maxwell’s Laws arguments do not apply, neither does the Bose argument. The Earth radiates IR to Space at altitudes ranging from zero (atmospheric window) to ~20 km (CO2 10 microns). Surface temperature is set by minimum radiation entropy production rate, moderated by [H2O] and the water cycle. You’ve been conned!

3 / Climate change; Public sad, very frustrated that high flying hypocritical climate scientists preach one thing about the public being responsible for all that “carbon” being emitted but don’t do a damn thing about their own lavish “carbon” producing activities.

What’s next – Sad-Scientist Aid? Maybe a concert televised globally by Irish ex rockbstars could help?
Climate Science surely now has a lost cause status?

A few fireworks at Yellowstone should cheer them up.
Now that the reserves of melted mantle carbon under there have been found to be 10 thousand times higher than 20011 global emissions. Just one bigger than normal fart and the scam is over. Let it rip I say.
“For example, releasing only 1% of this CO2 into the atmosphere will be the equivalent of burning 2.3 trillion barrels of oil. The existence of such deep reservoirs show how important is the role of deep Earth in the global carbon cycle.”

14 Feb: World Grain: Holly Demaree: Australia’s wheat production reaches record high
CANBERRA, AUSTRALIA — Production of wheat, one of Australia’s major winter crops, is estimated to have risen 45% to a record high of 35.1 million tonnes in 2016-17, Australia’s department of Agriculture and Water Resources (ABARES) said in a February report.
Total Australian winter crop production is estimated to have increased by 49% in 2016–17 to 58.9 million tonnes. The estimate represents a 12% upward revision to the December 2016 ABARES crop report forecast. The revision was the result of yields being higher than anticipated and reaching unprecedented levels in most regions.
Barley production is up by 56% to another record high of 13.4 million tonnes, canola production in 2016-17 is equal to the record high of 4.1 million tonnes achieved in 2012–13…

which implies that if the models are wrong, it is because the climate scientists were under the influence of climate change.
61
It really does make more sense now. Jo should show more compassion.
30
No one should show any compassion to those liars. Michael Mann for example.
30
It is willfull to ignore the new ‘Psychological Climate Science’ that clearly shows, using real scientific methods, that being under the influence climate change will cause erratic behavior, as well as anger ‘and’ the “frustration” Jo mentions.
Under these newly discovered adverse conditions, is it any wonder the climate models are wrong?
I continue to remain sceptical that any good science can come about in the psychological environment climate change is causing directly. The new psychological climate science is testament to this fact.

Its science, Jim, but not as we know it….

Are you saying we shouldn’t trust anyone proven to be pathological liars?

***Justin seems able to get MSM coverage when it suits the MSM, but this has been published only by a couple of industry websites.
am linking to the union website itself for excerpts of his press release:
13 Feb: GMB.org.uk: Inquiries Needed Following Australian Power Cuts
GMB, the union for workers in the energy sector in the UK, is calling on the UK and devolved governments as well as Ofgem and National Grid as well as the energy select Committee to urgently evaluate the lessons that should be learned from the widespread power cuts in Australia arising from the changes from sourcing power from renewable sources instead of coal and oil fired stations.
***Justin Bowden GMB National Secretary for the Energy Sector said:
“It is essential that all involved in energy policy in the UK learn the practical lessons from the widespread power cuts in Australia.”…
“Preliminary indications suggest that the transmission systems are not able to cope with the scale of power that has to be moved from one part of the country to another when renewable sources are not generating supplies at times of peak demand in the areas the renewable sources are located.”…
“GMB remains very concerned about possible power supply shortages across the UK as a whole at times of peak demand as the fossil fuel stations are phased out but before the new nuclear power stations fleet is on stream on the one in eight days that renewable sources are not supplying energy to the grid.”…
“In particular if Scotland closes Longannet and Peterhead fossil fuel power stations as seems likely and if there are technical outages at the two nuclear power stations in Scotland is there enough capacity in the grid to supply Scotland when renewables are not generating power? It would seem prudent to keep Peterhead open.”…
“This will become an even more pressing issue when the two Scottish nuclear power stations close and are not replaced. The new nuclear power station at Sellafield will be needed to put power into the grid on these days to replace them.
“It is essential that proper planning by experts is enabled across the UK as whole to avoid power cuts like we are seeing in Australia.
“GMB is calling on all stakeholders to commit to enabling the experts to tell elected representatives what we need to do to keep the lights on while aiming to decarbonise the economy. The electorate will punish representatives who refuse to listen to the experts and fail to make the necessary investment to keep the lights on.
“Lobbyists and axe grinders can no longer be relied on to maintain the secure power we need for prosperity and civilisation.”

One of my brothers spent some four years in the far west back blocks of Tanazania in the early to mid 1970’s.
He was the agricultural officer responsible for seeing some 65,000 refugees out of Uranda Burundi in the UN / Tanzanian Refugee settlement / Lutheran World Federation camp became self supporting in three years .
Yes they have been killing one another in Uranda Burundi for a long time now
One black man, the head of the camp and one that my brother had the greatest respect for as a person and organiser plus three white men ran that whole camp.
The refugees became self supporting food wise within those three years my brother and his wife and family were there before he caught Bilharzia and was sent to West Germany for 6 months to be cured.
Of course with 65,000 people there were a number of markets spread through out the area of the camp settlement where families could bring the produce they had grown on their allotted area, their “shambas” to the market for sale.
Usually at these markets there were a row of native beer sellers with their home brewed concoctions.
My brother claimed that some of these beers were actually very good, some had a kick like a large mule and some smelt like vomit until you blew the gunk of the top of the cup .
You took your own mug along as well as a straw to sample the different beers.
However one thing seemed assured, you were likely to be very unsteady on your feet if you actually made it to the end of the row of beer sellers after suitably sampling the array of native brewed beers on sale.
.
Now don’t ask why as I don’t know but a scenario popped into my head whilst I was thinking about the native market experiences of my brother.
Imagine if you can that Trump decides to eliminate funding for climate alarmist research everywhere where America has supported such climate [ alarmist ] research around the World.
And here in Australia that Pauline Hanson has sufficient seats in a new parliament to cause the PM of the time to follow suit and eliminate funding for climate alarmist research here in Australia leaving some hundreds of climate research drones with no income, no prospects, unemployable because of their extremely narrow skill set, thats if they have any skills at all other than writing funding and grant submissions and totally un-used to doing anything resembling actual work so as to achieve something approaching an honest living in the real world outside of academia.
I can see it now!
A row of former climate [ alarmist ] scientists sitting outside of the gates of the Uni of NSW and Queensland and Melbourne and the CSIRO , their BMW’s and Mercedes and Lamborghinis now derelict but still safely parked way around the back out of sight of the public.
Their 20 litre buckets for donations set up on the footpath. Each with his / her table and a chair and each equipped with a TSR-80 or a Commodore or a Atari or an Apple II.
Its all they can afford now you know in their highly straightened circumstances .
And it s all they know how to program after asking the kid next door how to do programming.
And each spruiking how they can give you , the Oh so valued customer, a prediction for the climate in the year of your 80th or your 95th birthday or for the year your grandson will be borne or for when the Goldman Sachs chief accountant will be sworn in as the Australian Prime minister.
Or for when we will see porcine aviation taking place.
And a few in the public will feel a little sorry for some of them as they sit on that footpath grasping their rattling donation tins and spruiking their computer generated predictions.
But most of the public will just walk by with a sneer on their lips and snide comment that at last and after many decades of public discord and the travails of hundreds of thousands of citizens, travails and deep troubles created by the policies espoused and promoted by those same climate alarmist scientists on those footpaths plus the endless fear and hobgoblins they so often promoted and dispensed merrily away when interviewed on the ABC and all for nought as the climate just kept right on doing what the climate has always done, making total fools of men who stupidly and hubristically think they are God and can control the earth’s climate.
And the public walking by will just sneer at those out of work, now uncompromisingly disreputable and disgraced down and out climate alarmist scientists who in the views of most of the public will have finally achieved their true status and position in our society and are now finally where they should be in any real world society, down and out on a footpath and experiencing just what they have put so many others through for absolutely no valid or proven purpose or reasons that man can ever distinguish from pure stupidity and ignorance allied with a large dose of total hubris and arrogance.

Clouds ? …
It is an irony that the thing hanging over the Climate Scientists at the conference is the very thing that is not able to be modelled correctly, despite its obvious significance.
It is a shame that the feelings of sadness and frustration are not about this profound failure.

The models keep warmists in thrall,
And convinced only they know it all,
But their feelings turn blue,
When the climate won’t do,
As foretold by their clear crystal ball.

For better or for worse, talkback radio is very influential (just ask Mike Baird).
2GB had Howard Brady on for some time today (15/02). Without exception, the callers were fed up with the tripe being dished out by the two major parties and the Greens. Brady was able to correct several misconceptions and handled the situation very well.
I think this type of communication is effective in getting the message across.
The general public does not visit the climate related blog sites, not does it place much credibility with Andrew Bolt.
Getting knowledgeable and credible commentators will be the best way to beat down the rubbish from the ABC, Fairfax, etc and influence the masses.
The sooner we have an additional 10 to 20 GW from coal, the better.

Once there were people called meteorologists.
They observed the world around us – I know, because I’ve read some excellent descriptions in published books on the subject.
Now we have ‘climate scientists’ – computer models, premature scary stories, proxies, data ‘corrections’, acid oceans, extreme weather – and worst of all, doomsday predictions made on supposed fraction of a degree changes (adjusted as required of course).
Can we please have the meteorologists back?
152
Sorry –
They have mostly been disappearing in favor of attractive ladies who present
“weather” on television. Many are very smart and professional, of course, but
most bow to commercial realities thus few are outspoken.
A local prof I know tried to survey meteorologists (in pursuit of her next degree)
and got the highest no-response rate ever seen in her social science department.
Fortunately for her, the non-response in a suitable thesis topic in its own right.

The scary bit is once the peak bodies of psychologists declare anyone who is a Sceptic is technically insane,, its a bit like Hitler passing the Enabling Laws…..it will lead to wide crackdowns and silencing of any dissent.
I haven’t met many psychologists who weren’t just as broken as the people they are trying to fix, FWIW….which makes me laugh at the idea that the govt would listen to them in the first place, but since this is a rout of democracy in progress, any old flimsy excuse will doo, like in all good tin pot dictatorships….

Sorry to be late in seeing your comment. We had so little “no rain” yesterday that I nearly drowned getting to a family event about 20 miles away. But the insanity thing, it’s a two way street. The sane ones among us think liberalism is a mental disorder so I guess that makes us even — or keeps us even with the psychologists. Said, of course, in the hope that there’s some actual benefit in keeping up with our learned brethren in the psychological field of endeavour.

It is the end result of socialism.
00
Now, what is socialism the end result of? If we could answer that question correctly we might begin to make headway.
10
Roy, I am not sure but I think it comes from the backend of a ? We australians would say bull but you are american so the word is horse.

Therein lies the problem. It is one thing to lie to others, it is another when you lie to yourself. They have not been “arguing” or even “debating”. Neither of those tactics involves the suppression of opposing views. They have been lecturing, as was clearly stated by Jo:
Pushing is not debating, arguing or discussing. it is indoctrination. They are so used to living in an echo chamber, they have forgotten how to debate and discuss.
140
“If they don’t wish to understand, they won’t.” ‘They’ have been lied to for too long. There is certainly a fatigue. By the way, who are ‘they’? People with a common sense. Reluctant Trump voters.

I suggest climate “scientists” go back and read about major discoveries that were ignored by UN’s globalists after nations and national academies of sciences were united under the UN on 24 OCT 1945:

(What happens when your world view is wrong and you can’t deal with reality?)
Good question.
Have we considered that 300 million school kids have been indoctrinated over the past 30 years in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, USA and with some overspill into the non Anglosaxon world. (You’ll acknowledge this if you’ve had a passing interest in their school books). The snowflake vanguard of this youth is now entering early middle age, entering politics and filling positions of responsibility throughout the political West.
What happens when their world vision collides with reality, or more precisely when reality collides with them. It won’t be pretty.

I think it could be highly interesting….we could call it Snow Flake Syndrome

‘It won’t be pretty.’
We need to use humour, the shock will be softened with laughter.

And you got a red thumb for that too?
There really ought to be a popup window requiring an explanation for either thumb!

Engineers, geologists, miners and people building cities, factories, ports, transport systems have to predict the future and to do this they also have to understand the past. So from building many new giant airports in the ocean at Yokohama and Hong Kong to whole cities in the ocean at Dubai, tunnels and deep mines and fracking and oil extraction on which we depend, they have to get it right. As
It is clear that the investors, governments and forward planners trust the engineers who trust the facts and that shows the hugely expensive constructions are justified and long term. That is reality. Transparently these people do not believe Tim Flannery. They work with real facts, not faux science. Then you get Pompeii and Mount St. Helens and Santorini and Fukishima. Sometimes nature intervenes. As Ian Plimer points out the city of New Orleans suffered the greatest subsidence in the world just before Katrina. This was unexpected and the real problem. Insurance people call these Acts of God, not Climate Change.
However there is now a new breed of scientist. Not a chemist, mathematician, engineer, geologist, physicist but an ecologist, zoologist, botanist even sociologist and psychologist who graduates in the Science department with almost no qualifications in what the 19th century would call hard science. Observational science, not fact and mathematics based rational science based on evidence and proof. Flannery has an undergraduate degree in English when he wanted to be a real scientist, our own Pinnocchio made our National expert on Climate and meteorology.
So we get psychologists who tell us about Climate Change. Economists too. Kangaroo experts. Most successfully, the IPCC has convinced eager politicians that they are in control of the planet’s weather, Gods. How pleased they are. From Jaqui Lambie to Kevin Rudd to Al Gore, this fans their egos as they talk about their moral challenge and their need to make a change, not in poverty, conflict, jobs, defence but in human rights, gender and the most important, the Climate. Even Local Councils are against nuclear power, the US President and Israel and Climate Change and they jet off to luxury conferences on Climate Change in locations like Rio and Paris. Fact finding.
This Climate Change nonsense will slowly stop as the promoters retire and also real scientists who are then free to speak out.
I personally would love to know how CO2 produces Extreme Events. What is the physics for that? Extreme Events surely is the biggest fantasy in the non science of (a bit extra) CO2 driven weather, apart from the reality that hurricane frequency has really dropped.
Besides, if the oceans heated even a little, wouldn’t anyone expect CO2 to go up naturally given that 98% of the world’s CO2 is dissolved in the oceans?
Is this whole business really about a little bit more CO2 and the unproven hypothesis that Western industrial democracies are the problem? Really? Someone stole my warming. Especially in Melbourne.

Sunsettommy @ #26.
That paper by an engineer, an engineer whose qualifications at an intellectual level are at the very least as high as any so called climate alarmist scientist and better than nearly every Australian university and CSIRO climate scientists, is a superb find and one that drives a very large stake through the certitude and heart of the blood sucking vampire of climate change that has been the sole and deliberate creation of the academic climate alarmist scientists.
Here is an engineer who has to deal in real world situations where infrastructure has to be constructed such that lives and commerce will be able to use that infrastructure for decades into the future without fear that it might fail.
In engineering at that level there is usually only one main chance to get the data underpinning the integrity of the infrastructure along with the building of that infrastructure right, unlike climate alarmist science which just changes the underlying data if that data doesn’t support the current concept of the nebulous and still to be seen and proven by the ever shifting target of “climate change” as defined by those same climate scientists.
That engineer has really highlighted the very quiet, low key and hard headed approach to the creation of the critical infrastructure that will underpin the societal functions for decades into the future.
The engineer’s approach to their profession can be compared to the figuratively loud disharmonious clashing discord of climate cymbals and loud screechings and a cacophony of lamentations from the climate alarmists scientists who have created nothing other than fear and discord and doubt and the near deliberate pauperising of the low income earners through gross energy price increases by promoting policies for which they have no facts or data to support, just their own radical brand of personal ideology based intellectually lacking, mental sink holes .
The climate alarmist scientists have never made any contribution of any obvious and perceivable beneficial advantage towards the future of the society other than to sow discord and strife and suffering and fear in all their offerings to the society from which they continue to draw their munificent and salubrious salaries and grossly inflated expenses from the tax payers in that same society.
91
The other interesting thing about this paper is how fast it got through peer review and was published.i’m surprised there wasn’t an alarmist ready to put up a “brick wall” in the process.

Geologists are not among “other scientists” – a widespread misunderstanding. Paleoclimatology makes up sizable parts of both quaternary geology and of climate science, and, its findings on longer-term solar-climate coupling are what invalidates the SPM’s 95% certainty.

I am not in the least bit saddened by their darkened moods. They have saddened my own life for the last decade by their prostitution of science for their own selfish ends. Karma is wonderful.

I sometimes feel sad when my holiday is coming to an end. The gravy train journey would be like that.

There used to be a “scared scientists” website containing pictures of Steffen, Flannery and some of the others, monochrome, all looking a bit apprehensive, as well they should be, having guzzled so much taxpayers money for a fantasy. That seems to have disappeared, but can be viewed at cargocollective.com along with a lot of other miserable stuff. (Caution required for those with a sensitive stomach.)

Opening screen is “Nobody is safe”. Yep they got that right.
What comes next? A “sad scientists” website?
I guess its going to be a long time before we see any “I’m sorry I wasted so much of country’s wealth” youtubes.

“What comes next? A “sad scientists” website?”
A “Happy Climate Realist” site. 🙂

When will loudspeakers be installed around the streets to broadcast warnings all day and night long?

Also don’t forget the memory holes.

My only problem with Eric Worral’s petition is that it asks for even more money to be given to Climate Scientists;
“We demand that climate scientists be provided with full time access to the very best video conference technology the world has to offer,”
Also I don’t want my own conferences messed up.
20
Heres a thought that bothers me but has to be considered:
Is “Climate Science” a direct and present threat to Democracy?
If it produces nothing but scientifically unsubstantiated “science” ( aka propaganda ) is it actually dangerous? I never thought I’d get to the point whereby I’d consider such a thing.
If a branch of science is so corrupted, it should be temporarily stopped and radical overhaul required to ensure proper rigorous gold standard science is pursued.

“Climate change: Scientists sad, frustrated as extreme weather becomes the new norm”
This article, mentioned that Williamstown had a temperature of 45.5C last Saturday. I live in Williamstown and I knew that was nonsense so I did a check.
Neighbouring Melbourne – Williamstown has a smaller urban heat island so is usually cooler – was a maximum of 24.6C on Saturday. The highest temperature in 2017 was 37.8C. The highest on record was 46.4C in 2009 (I think it might have been higher much earlier on)
Weather for Melbourne 11-15th Feb 2017
When the argument falls apart, they resort to fabricating an additional 24.9C

SA power: Blackouts from load shedding may reoccur, Australian Energy Market Operator says
The Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) has said it cannot give a guarantee that it will not order load shedding, of the kind that left 90,000 properties without power during a recent heatwave in South Australia, again.
The admission came after the market operator released its official report yesterday stating electricity load shedding in the state last week was three times the level ordered, effectively resulting in an extra 60,000 properties being left without power than ordered.
Load shedding occurs when the AEMO directs power companies to start switching off customers’ power supply because the power system is at risk.
Customers in SA were without supply on Wednesday last week for up to 40 minutes in the evening, after a day of extreme temperatures when power demand outstripped power supply.
At the time of the load shedding request, the Heywood and Murraylink interconnectors between South Australia and Victoria were importing more power to SA than was allowed under operating limits.
Power distributor SA Power Networks has said its automated load shedding software failed to work correctly.
………..
He said the system was complex and needed to evolve to improve “managing forecasting and managing the complexity of intermittent generation”.
“We all need to work together to try to develop what is an evolution of a power system that was developed for a different century,” he said.
“I’m certainty not going to be saying we can give guarantees that this won’t happen again.”
He said the closure of Victoria’s Hazelwood Power Station would pose further risks for South Australia and Victoria

15 Feb: AFR: Wind and thermal generators failed SA in blackout, says AEMO
by Mark Ludlow, Simon Evans & Angela Macdonald-Smith
A report from the Australian Energy Market Operator released on Wednesday afternoon found both lower than expected wind power and the failure of thermal generators to step in to stop a shortfall in supply led to the blackout in SA last Wednesday…
The AEMO report found wind power was half of what was expected on the afternoon of Wednesday, February 8…
The AEMO report showed that at 4pm about 200 megawatts of wind was forecast up to 6.30pm on February 8, but by 6pm the actual wind generation was 100 megawatts and falling…
Chief Scientist Alan Finkel – who is conducting a review on energy security for the Turnbull government – said SA’s latest brownout has again illustrated the security of the power system “is not as robust as when it was first designed” but rejected the idea the situation has become a crisis…
Federal Energy Minister Josh Frydenberg said the AEMO report confirmed the “complexity and fragility” of maintaining energy security in SA.
“In particular the difficulty of forecasting and managing high levels of intermittent generation,” he said. “That is why the government is focused on energy storage and ensuring sufficient base load power in the system.”

Once a few pollies are tarred and feathered, that should fix it….
And no, I don’t advocate it, but based on history and knowledge of human nature, the current bunch of miscreants in power will be caught between the people, pitchforks in hand, and the NWO paymasters, gun in hand….

Am I the only one having trouble reading the letter on the petition site? Clicking on the link “Read the Letter” shows small window with repeated addressee details and “OK” button – when clicked, I get thrown back where I started. Have this problem both in IE and Chrome.
Anyone found a way around it?

It has just come to light that the glaciers in NZ have been adding mass balance for the past 25 years.
The Klimatariat says the glaciers are recalcitrant and anyway its only regional cooling.

Its cooling unless decreed otherwise, huh?
