Paul Homewood has either caught a Met Office prof rewriting history (the politest way I can put it) or Homewood has caught him issuing deliberately incorrect forecasts. Which is it — deception about the past, or deception about the future? Apparently he thought no one would check his past statements? (And as far as journalists go, he’s almost spot on.)
The Best from the East hit Europe and the UK on Feb 28th. Yesterday Professor Adam Scaife was bragging about his forecasting prowess a month before:
Published: 10:36, 4 March 2018
Ministers were warned about the Beast from the East a month ago by a Met Office forecaster who stockpiled provisions in preparation for the weather bomb.
Professor Adam Schaife, head of long-range forecasting at the Met Office, alerted the Cabinet Office to the incoming weather bomb four weeks ago.
He told them that they should expect Britain to be battered by a deep freeze.
In preparation for the polar vortex he stocked up on essentials.
‘I got extra oil, food and logs in, knowing this was coming,’ he said last week.
But Paul Homewood checked the past Met Office Forecasts. The Sudden Stratospheric Warming (SSW) was key to the Beast, but when the BOM issued the 3 monthly forecast on the 26th of January they said:
…”there is little likelihood of a SSW, and an increased likelihood of milder-than-usual conditions at least in the first half of the 3 month period.”
Perhaps this was code for Ministers to buy tuna tins? By the 9th of Feb, Homewood says they had an “inkling” of the SSW, which was already happening by the 12th. Then they said it was ” too soon to determine exactly what impacts it could have on our weather in the UK.”
It was only by the 18th of Feb that the Met Office warned it: could lead to prolonged cold conditions over the UK, increasing the risk of easterly wind and significant snow”.
But wait! “Signs” appeared:
Prof Adam Scaife, head of monthly to decadal prediction work at the Met Office Hadley Centre, said “Signs of this event appeared in forecasts from late January”[2].
These mysterious “signs” apparently were signish enough for him to order logs and oil, but not spell that out for the public.
What were the “signs”:
a/ it’s winter
b/ tea leaves spelled “SSW. “
c/ a dream about the Dalai Lama.
The Met Office has some story about the weather patterns repeating from 2009 and 2013, and “starting over India”. Welcome to climate science where forecasts are post hoc but not predictive.
Paul Homewood:
Scaife has serious questions to answer.
If he really did give the Cabinet Office detailed advice about the severe freeze up at the beginning of February, then why did the Met Office not include the warning in their news releases until just over a week before?
On the other hand, if what the Met Office has said is correct, then Scaife is guilty of misrepresenting his advice to the Cabinet Office. He may well have said that there was a chance of some cold weather arriving, but to pretend he warned them about “the beast from the east”, as The Times claims, is clearly deeply misleading.
Perhaps the Met office are feeling a bit insecure?
Commenter RAH: Joe Bastardi was forecasting this Artic blast hitting western Europe a month ago just as he forecast the Nor Easter that is going to strike the East Coast here in the US over a week ago and has said it’s just the first of several that will hit the coast. It is all just WEATHER and Joe was telling people it was coming. — Read more here.
PS: Had a blackout last night, and no internet coverage most of today. I’ll get to the 4Corners report tomorrow.
‘I got extra oil, food and logs in, knowing this was coming,’ he said last week.
Do as I say, not as I do. The usual mantra.
101
Shock, Government employee only cares about navel. Un believable. They are employed to serve the public. Just how many do?
121
There is some truth and some hiding of the truth in what Schaife said.
In early February a couple of weeks or more before the cold spell arrived the Met Office forecasters were talking of freezing conditions with sub-zero temperatures arriving – So some truth there
They were also warning that it would last for a Month or more …… so Schaife has Hidden this truth through no admission of this prediction or that it was wrong.
Of course that explains why he stocked up with extra food, oil, logs etc in – because he and the Met Office was expecting this to last for a month or more, from late February through to the end of March – Computer said it would !!
Met office predictions of even a few days ahead, wrong yet again and they expect us to believe their predictions for 20, 50 and even 100 years ahead. Clowns.
30
Extra oil (heating oil?) gasp, fossil fuel. But if he did infact get lucky and predict it, then throw his but out for not sharing it as a probability with the UK people.

Piers Corbyn’s Weather Action site is even more scathing. He doesn’t say anything about Scaife in particular (pity) but has plenty to say about the “Warmist’s lies”—and that’s his words, not mine!
He is openly calling Data F*r*a*u*d what it is. (Go Piers! Atta boy!).
IMHO Scaife is being foolish. It’s his reputation and he has every right to trash it. By claiming to have forecast the BftE (Beast from the East) when there is no visible published historical record other than Paul Homewood’s callout, he is setting himself up for a public enquiry as well as public odium.
The latest I can find (and I haven’t searched particularly hard) is from 31st Jan, 2018; the MO’s Decadal Forecast.
Yes! That’s from this year’s Decadal Forecast. No mention of Blizzards! Just Warming, warming, everywhere.
So, yeah. A brilliant piece of forecasting “a month before the event” even with the help, assistance, and incompetence of their super computer. Absolutely brilliant. Well done Scaifey! Sure, we believe you! Really!
In fact, we believe you so much we want documentary proof: “Show us the receipts (esp their date/time stamps) for all that extra provender. Otherwise, you will be treated with the disbelief and disdain anyone with such a light touch with the truth deserves.”
Yes Prof Scaife: You’re being called out.
301
Yes well said Sir.
Btw mention of the other Corbyn, reminds me that we have his idiot brother promising to nationalise the foreign owned power companies or force them to reduce the government mandated sky high prices we must pay to subsidise the bird shredders and Chinese roof decorations.
Would be good if they would talk to each other.
30
Piers Corbyn is Jeremy’s brother!!! I never knew. Bloomin’ heck. What a family. Imagine the arguments, worse than ours by a country mile. Does Piers have any influence on Jeremy?. Hope so.
As to the post, this is deep state stuff. The rot goes all the way down to the basement. Here in New Zealand it’s part of the fabric of the public service. Our politics have become a parody of a left wing play. Our prime minister has swooning devotees within our media and the Canadian prime minister will soon suggest the immediate amalgamation of our respective ministries for disarmament. Soon we will have a first baby and and I wouldn’t be surprised if first hubby who has virtue announced to be mumdaddy becomes the first man ever to lactate in solidarity. It’s all a bit much really. When’s the cricket on.
Scaife is just a loping, mumbling troll staying in line, eyes down being a good foot soldier drawing a pay check, marching in tune like the rest of them. Sad.
20
I expect that what Jeremy Corbyn says and what he thinks are very different things – Brexit being a prime example (although admittedly he has said little on this subject). I have seen a couple of things that have given me an insight into the mindset of the British ruling class regarding the anthropogenic global warming scare. The first was while attending a speech a few years ago by the then UK deputy PM, Nick Clegg. I can’t remember his exact words on the subject at the Q&A, but they indicated his belief that if the consensus view on global warming turned out to be wrong, it didn’t matter. Taxing energy was an exciting opportunity to raise revenues for the state (he was genuinely animated about this). Of course, he only talked about taxing energy companies and failed to mention the consumer. To politicians, the CAGW scare represents the best way yet to bribe people with their own money, dig themselves out responsibility for massive debt, and ensure their continual survival in power. The truth is far less important than this.
The second was a BBC documentary following the people who live and work around Mayfair in London. At one point the camera was a ‘fly on the wall’ at some kind of gathering at an exclusive club for the great and the good. A number of presumably very wealthy late middle-aged men (some sorts of ‘captains of industry’, Lords, inheritors of old money) were gathered around a table discussing issues of the day. When the subject of climate change came up, I was struck by the tone of faux social concern that seemed suddenly deeply incongruous in this context – along with the greed in their eyes.
In both cases (the politicians and the industrialists), if there was any belief in impending climate catastrophe at all, it was skin deep at best: a useful superhero costume to wear in order to convince the little people to relinquish self-determination and gain a seat at the green trough, but nothing more. I suspect the reason sceptical analysis of scientific assertions about CAGW has little impact on the political class is that the political class do not believe it any more than anyone else. They don’t care – as long as some outwardly respectable but inwardly corrupted faction of academia or other state-dependent institution is doing the lying for them, they never need take any responsibility for it. They can just enjoy the benefits: abdication of responsibility for debt; themselves or their friends in high places filling their pockets with renewables subsidies; endless well paid non-jobs in climate NGO’s created to launder taxpayer cash; seats on the boards of corporations who have discovered new ways to pick the public’s pockets in broad daylight; climate junkets to expensive hotels in sunny foreign locations; invitations to dinner parties and a licence to virtue signal at said dinner parties; immunity from approbation from their fully indoctrinated, brainwashed children..
Meanwhile ordinary people are too busy just trying to get by while being financially squeezed to the limits to develop much more than a vague sense of suspicion about all this. The corruption should be shouted from the rooftops – it is at a level that would make Venezuela blush – but most journalists and media institutions fall as much into the above description as anyone else. Sadly, while any whispers of conscience or doubt are redirected into hatred and dismissive ridicule of caricatured ‘deniers’, they will all be blind to the reality of the situation – beyond the dishonesty, the bad science, the destruction of critical thought and analysis in academia: that is that they are enablers of the most vast ponzi scheme the world has ever seen. And it will, at some point, collapse, and possibly take the global economy and public patience with it. The s**tstorm might be something to behold, but the results might be something that nobody would want to see.
50
Energy is indeed worthy of consideration for a tax base. It’s so simple, so broad based!
So, what are your competitors doing? There is a down side if it puts your industries at a competitive disadvantage.
Then there’s the bogus science. That’s got to be cleaned up first, too. It is still a serious corrupter of the market.
20
Absolutely, it’s a subject worthy of debate. But when sensible debate is drowned out by bullshit and deception, everyone is disadvantaged but the cockroaches.
10
The UN’s plan to de-industrialise western civilisations and transfer wealth to rich people in poor countries begins to bear fruit !!
Unreliable renewables are the key to this ‘Green Dream’ and the nightmare that faces everyone.
As Maurice Strong said when explaining why he set up the IPCC and what it was to achieve
“In searching for a new enemy to unite us, we came up with the idea that .. the threat of global warming.. would fit the bill…. the real enemy, then, is humanity itself….we believe humanity requires a common motivation, namely a common adversary in order to realize world government. It does not matter if this common enemy is a real one or…. one invented for the purpose.” (Maurice Strong – speech to Club of Rome – and “invented” referred specifically to ‘Global Warming’)
“Isn’t the only hope for the planet that the industrialized civilizations collapse? Isn’t it our responsiblity to bring that about?” . and those encapsulate what lies behind and is the reason for ‘Global Warming / Climate Change’ .
And as Ottmar Edenhofer, who co-chaired the U.N.’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) working group on Mitigation of Climate Change from 2008 to 2015 stated:
“One has to free oneself from the illusion that international climate policy is environmental policy. This has almost nothing to do with the environmental policy anymore, with problems such as deforestation or the ozone hole …… We redistribute de facto the world’s wealth by climate policy ……….. the next world climate summit in Cancun is actually an economy summit during which the distribution of the world’s resources will be negotiated. “
As they make clear – this has nothing to do with Global Warming (which was Strong and the UN’s deliberate invention) and everything about creating an unelected world government through the fear of ‘climate change’ and using it to de-industrialise civilisation and redistribute that wealth to rich people in poor countries!
Christiana Figueres, executive secretary of U.N.’s Framework Convention on Climate Change:
“This is the first time in the history of mankind that we are setting ourselves the task of intentionally, within a defined period of time, to change the economic development model that has been reigning for at least 150 years, since the Industrial Revolution ”
That must be taken in the context of Strong’s statements quoted above and the intent to de-industrialise which means a return to lifestyles of the 15th and 16th centuries
10
The scum politicians, movers and shakers will drop CAGW like hot bricks when it is convenient to do so, because it’s only ever been “all about the money” They don’t need an excuse but you can be sure that they’ll be laying the blame at the door of the all those “Climate Scientists” like Mann etc. Being the useful idiots that they are, they don’t realise this yet, and when they do , it’ll be too late. They hyped it, as you know, so I won’t be shedding any tears when they get taken down. The MSM will just trot out the same excuse as the aforementioned pollies etc. Of that you can be sure. Before you know it, it will be a “nothing to see here, move along”
It’s all so bloody predictable. If I can see it (and I’m just an ordinary 60 yr old), why do so few others not see it too.
20
If it ever does fall apart, the small cabal of amateur statisticians, activists, cartoonists and shills who call themselves ‘Climate Scientists’ will point to their weasel words ‘could’, ‘possible’, ‘projection’ and so on, and claim their doom laden warnings were taken out of context, or were made from genuine concern. Besides they will always have a cult following to play to. Those there from the beginning – like Mann and Gore – have already done well from alarmism, to the point they could retire comfortably. If the MSM do pick up a change in the public mood before they die off, they will most likely suffer a collective amnesia, as they did after Dr. Andrew Wakefield was exposed as a f**d, or when it started to look like we weren’t all going to die from BSE after all. National broadcasters like the BBC / ABC / PBS will keep pushing it until all their editors are fired or their ‘ethical’ pension funds look safe..
30
Corbyn’s Brexit speech was an absolute hoot. Apparently according to him, a Mini is milled and drilled to make it – out of a solid lump of metal presumably. And the whole thing crosses the Channel THREE times during manufacture too. The only thing that stopped the assembled journalists from bursting out laughing was their own steepling ignorance.
40
Deception and the politicians who are elected to look after the best interests of constituents do nothing.
Reminded me of our BoM experiences and a call for an audit rejected by a majority of cabinet ministers.
191
A genuine long-range forecast,
Should state at least weeks in the past,
The days of the year,
When the Beast would appear,
And how long the Beast weather would last.

And remember the big freeze of 1963. As usual it has all happened before. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMXxRcqmrkQ&feature=share

They’re not going to rescind a warming forecast for an Arctic blast forecast until it gets there because sheeple will be more worried about the cold and forget about tar and feathers .
Just the other day one our trolls made mention of those being cold when forecasts were for warm are denying the scientific method and GA on his blog says theories and models are things we rely on for our lives .
40
My favourite dictum:
A model is a small imitation of the real thing.
10
All models are wrong but some are useful.
00
Here is the actual forecast. It is far more nuanced than the headlines show. Some might say they are hedging their bets, very wise after their forecasts of a barbecue summer a few years ago
http://www.hydoutuk.net/files/5515/1807/9861/A42018_Forecast-temp-FMA-v1.pdf
For sure the SSW was not on the horizon on the 26th january, but events moved quickly.
We were actually travelling back from Austria on the 26 th january. Flights arrived in to Salzburg very early because of the huge tail winds.
On the way back to bristol uk that day however the pilot told us that the jet stream was very fast and the headwinds very strong. The result was a very very turbulent flight. We landed in zero visibility.
On our return or at least in the next day or so, the forecasters were talking about the possibility of severe weather in the weeks ahead as the jet stream MIGHT reverse, the polar vortex MIGHT collapse and their MIGHT be an SSW. If so it would bring very cold wrather but it would take several weeks for things to unfold and in e meantime there was considerable uncertainty.
However fairly soon the forecasts and newspapers started to talk about the beast from the east.
So this was probably the most forecasted period of extreme weather in recent history. There was talk about it for weeks.
So not sure what the met office is supposed to have done wrong. Their three month firecast was hedged about with waffle talk but their forecasts for a couple of weeks ahead was pretty good, culminating in the extreme weather we had last week.
Tonyb
40
Probably of more interest is that the head of the met office has been asked to step down today for what are described as governance reasons
http://home.bt.com/news/uk-news/met-office-chief-executive-steps-down-11364255913582
Local mp has asked for an explanation at this unexpected development which has come out of the blue. I live locally and there had been no hint of this.
So we need to wait until Wednesday to learn what is behind this

I love the way the Met Office describe themselves … ” our world-class National Meteorological Service. “ But then I suppose they feel the need for somebody to make that claim ……..
So that would be the “world class” meteorological service that a year or so ago lost its contract to supply weather forecasts to British TV because it was consistently getting it wrong ……….. ??
30
1 week ago in, and around Paris, it was -8degC, and today was 9degC.
I’ve processed the data, and generated a climate model. I think it could even be extrapolated to cover the whole planet as it’s just that good.
At an increase of 17 degrees a week, Paris will be 28288 degrees by 2050, and 72488 degrees by 2100.
Won’t somebody please think of the children!!!

Extra logs. Why do I find that as comical as Upholstery in Space, or David Hogg live from the drill?
It’s like we watched too many hours of Cartoon Corner as kids and Big Bro knows just where to prod us.
The weather professor got him some extra logs because he knew. It’s funny and I don’t even know why.
50
Not just that he knew, but that he laid in extra logs – burning up dead trees and “polluting” the atmosphere with CO2 – but also oil – a fossil fuel and another liberator of the dreaded CO2! The shock, the horror! The hypocrisy and cognitive dissonance of these people is beyond belief.
70
What he avoided explaining was that the Met Office believed the sub-zero conditions would last for a Month or More – they were predicting this a few weeks before the cold spell actually arrived.
10
Why not extra solar panels?
Oil, food and logs are all carbon-based.
80
The irony – it burns!
80
Get in extra wood?
I’ve got wood out on the back deck I brought up in the fall to be prepared for winter. We’ve got a NG furnace but there is something about the wood heat from an open fireplace that cannot be matched. So when it’s cold outside we’ll have a fire in the fireplace and be enjoying it and the cat and the dog will be stretched out in front of the hearth loving it. Yea, I know it’s not efficient but I don’t give a flip. Consider it a luxury that I can have because I don’t live in some SH like San Francisco where they ban open fires for everyone but the homeless.
50
A friend of ours worked for the air quality folks in the County of Yakima, Washington State. The County did not allow fires in barrels**, even for the homeless.
When such a fire was reported, it was our friend’s job – with police backup – to go tell the perpetrators to cease with the unlawful activity. Once in awhile the local TV would film this, and refer to our friend as Burn Barrel Bob.
[**Oil drums is another name. Without vents, grates, and a screen, these things are about as bad as any burning can be. Also, people living under a road overpass, or other such, would throw all sorts of stuff, say plastic, into the things.]
20
In my side yard on the south side of my garage I’ve got an 8′ diameter fire ring set up in a 17′ circle of pea gravel. Besides the occasional fire for recreation I burn the deadfall from the trees, cardboard, waste paper, and even the occasional old piece of furniture in it. It’s nice to sit around a nice hardwood fire at night consuming an adult beverage and solving the worlds problems with friends.

Put another log on the barbie
at the Bureau of Meteorology.

I was moving house on Saturday, so watched the weather closely from a week before. On the weekend they were forecasting some rain in the week, but clear on the Saturday. The snow was not forecast until just before it happened. The forecast for the Saturday varied wildly, from dry to rain to rain and snow to snow back to rain and snow.
50
Meanwhile, here in the so-called Antipodes, “Niwa figures show the average temperature nation-wide during the summer months was 18.8°C, which is 0.3°C above the previous record set in 1934-35… Niwa principal forecasting scientist Chris Brandolino [said] record temperatures were likely to continue as long as carbon emissions remained high.” Righto, just like back in 1934-35 I guess.
http://www.radionz.co.nz/news/national/351872/nz-s-summer-the-hottest-on-record-niwa
From their own Crime-ate Slummary pdf (link below), “This makes summer 2017-18 the hottest summer on record for New Zealand, topping the historical record formerly held by the summer of 1934-35 (which was 1.8°C above the 1981-2010 summer average).” And there I was thinking last year was the hottest summer ever, and the one before that…
https://www.niwa.co.nz/files/Climate_Summary_Summer_2018.pdf
Their graph on Page 3 is a hoot: after the non-CO₂-induced summer heat wave of 1935, it’s been all downhill from there – until now, because, um, well, obviously ‘carbon’. Also, the graph shows less cold anomalies: less cold and less heat – doesn’t that mean LESS extreme?
And in the UK, now the Siberian nor’easter is over, “Tonnes of sand has washed away from Redcar beach during recent stomrs [sic], revealing the petrified remains… Geologist Mark Stokeld said the forest was about 10,000 years old and would once have been ‘flourishing’ with animal and bird life. ‘I can imagine how this was before the ice had finally disappeared,’ he said.”
http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-tees-43309633
Climates were changing ~10,000 years ago? Healthy ‘flourishing’ forests were drowned by a rising sea? Yet now they are ‘revealed’ again? Quick – someone get hold of that dendrologist guy, what’shisname, Mickey ‘Mouse’ Man(n)? I hear he’s a Nobel scientist or something…
110
Excellent post Greg. Raises a question I wanted to come here and ask since we are an international ‘thang’ so to speak. Does anybody here know, heard of a man by the name of Chris Brandelino? He is our new high priest of AGW and takes his pulpit everywhere he goes. He comes from a place called Syracuse NY apparently. Our media are too dumb and timid to press him on his more questionable assertions and he must love that. Gushes on breakfast TV, takes his moments when he can to plant that ‘seed’.
00
Thank you, Ceetee. I must getting old(er) as I find myself yelling at the radio whenever ‘Brandgelina’ – as I now call him – is invited on to preach “the message” as he calls it. See my more-recent comment on Jo’s post today about psychologists and some new theory they’ve invented about something sillier than their last theory. Note that C.B. spent time at the BoM in Australia – cue spooky music (and made-up and/or erased data). Cheers!

Kind of makes him similar to the old Anglican priests sent to minister to the heathens in darkest Africa. Perhaps we should put him in a pot and boil him.

So if he saw it coming and given his position advising the government he was sure to advise them to make sure enough gas and other energy sources were on hand, right? Gone from lying about the weather, to lying about lying about the weather?

I sometimes wonder if the overall plan is to run down the role of govt so it looks so bad, people will throw it away when something that looks better ( but isnt ) comes along?
The Germans did it when Hitler turned up…..the country was a mess, people were desperate….sound familiar?
30
‘…..sound familiar?’
The charismatic Adolph came to power because the Western powers made Germany pay for the wanton destruction of WW1, big mistake.
After WW2 the victorious Western allies helped their enemies recover. Unpalatable perhaps, but it worked like a charm.
20
Quite. After WWII, the Western Allies realised that putting a defeated enemy in a position where he had nothing to lose wasn’t the brightest of ideas. Shame they never realised that in 1919. It would have prevented an awful lot of deaths.
00
To an extent it worked like a charm. The very same blast furnaces the US funded using newer technology than many companies in the US had at the time were eventually used to make government subsidized steel that Japan and Germany then dumped on the US market. And though the Marshall plan was about preventing a future war, the war they were most afraid of was one with the Soviet Union in a Europe that they dominated. A destitute Western Europe with no hope would have been much easier pickings for the communists. So there was a lot of wisdom in the Marshall plan but it was not instituted to prevent any war but to prevent a particular scenario that could lead to a particular war.
00
“‘I got extra oil, food and logs in, knowing this was coming,’ he said last week.”
He’s not silly – if he’d told EVERYONE of the coming doom the prices would have gone up.

Good point my Irish cousin!

Like I have always said in relation to global warming:
‘When they stop lying I will start believing them.’
It’ll never happen.
60
It’s not a “weather bomb”. It’s simply weather.
40
Think about it . Why would the UK MET Office warn citizens of pending cold temperatures ? It doesn’t square with their
earth has a fever agenda and it would certainly have saved lives . Neither acceptable . How many Met staff feel bullied ?
The people of the UK and elsewhere have been brainwashed to believe a trace gas (plant food ) is the climates thermostat .
Complete rubbish and the Met knows it yet the lie persists because that is what politicians and rent seekers demand .
No Play … No Pay .

The £100 million computer doesn’t seem to be doing its job, perhaps if they had ordered the deluxe version?

Probably Met-Office computers were too busy mining BitCoins™ to make a forecast.

I seems to remember a story about a forecaster and this native tribe gathering firewood for the winter…..
10
Children in the UK after 2000 will not know what snow is because of catastrophic anthropogenic global warming (CAGW)!
That was “expert advice” given by a (then) world leading climate scientist from the University of East Anglia.
Now in 2018, we have another climate scientific expert bodgeying up an assertion that he gave a seeming non-existent forecast of deadly freezing weather for Europe/UK in February 2018.
Oh the irony that one of today’s “climate science experts” is fighting for his integrity by unwittingly trashing the claims by an earlier “great” who publicly scaremongered the UK that snow falls would never reoccur as a result of mankind’s climate heating insult.
So, like in the case of so many others, Prof Schaife’s wing-feathers have fallen off his flight of CAGW-horror fantasy.

You’d have to have a heart of stone not to laugh
00
Here in Canberra we had a recent DELUGE last Sunday afternoon, all BOM predicted that day was chance of rain. There was flooding mostly in the northside, so much that ANU had to close for Monday
Neither BOM nor the ANY Climate Institute certainly did not see this one coming!
00
Yeah thats because climate science is fraught with uncertainty. If you were to pick a branch of science to underpin social policy and development you wouldn’t pick climate science, if you were a scientist that is. But then again maybe you would…
00
