Not what the climate models predicted
This weekend it’s snowing within 90 minutes of Melbourne and Sydney. It’s snowing in far south Queensland. In the Alps Thredbo recorded an amazing 117cm of fresh snow in two days, while snow fell in towns that rarely get snow like Gordon near Ballarat, Tumut, Crookwell. The highway through the Blue Mountains was blocked. The airport was closed in Orange.
TA polar blast has whipped across New South Wales, dumping unprecedented levels of snow on parts of the state. From the rugged terrain of the Blue Mountains to streets in Bathurst, whole towns were completed whited out as the freezing weather took hold. @lizzybryan1 #9News pic.twitter.com/elgLlbQiD0

The ABC makes sure to embed their best excuses for the Global Warming.
Repeat after me: The Science is Complex. Two “leading” researchers say blah, blah, attribution, models. They argue that unverified, unvalidated models that ignore the solar wind, solar spectral changes, and solar magnetic changes can tell us how much effect CO2 has because there’s a mysterious gap between what their models predict the natural climate would do and what really happened — especially according to thermometers installed over asphalt and next to incinerators. They forget to mention that their models fail on temperature trends, and on the local, regional, and continental scale, the pause, the upper troposphere, the humidity, the fingerprint they said mattered, the medieval warm period, the little ice age, the oceans, down boreholes, and for sea levels, as well as for the temperature of Antarctica, and the Southern Ocean. Lucky we have Seers who can interpret the failures of broken models to explain why CO2 really does cause all the things their models didn’t predict.
BOM forecasts ‘Antarctic winds’ for NSW weekend as towns receive first snow in decades
–ABC Saturday afternoon
Residents in the Riverina also received a dumping of snow, with some towns recording their first falls in decades.
Cootamundra local Steve Theobald said the last time he remembered snow there was 1985, while residents in Tumut — only 305 metres above sea level — said it was their first fall since 2000.
The Great Western Highway between Wentworth Falls and Mount Victoria was closed earlier due to snow and ice and was reopened around 9:30am.
The NSW State Emergency Service (SES) said it had to rescue some motorists who became stranded on the Mitchell Highway between Orange and Bathurst.
Mr Ryan said the snowfall would continue into Sunday and would be finished by Monday.
Our planet’s magnetic field is weak due to low sunspot activity. We can expect relative to average temperature extremes in winter and summer. The fact that such information is well known but not “modelled” by the Climate Change Industry is a clear example of their need for money rather than any need for scientific progress.
Expect more examples of greed and lies to get tax paid money. They are thieves.

This is why ” global warming ” was changed to climate change, and now to climate emergency, and if that isn’t enough, species extinction. The eco-imperialists are determined to keep driving this bus to a bleak fossil fuel free future.
But we saved the world, they will bleat.
320
Perhaps they’ll try “season change” next?

We went up to Mt Bunninyong this morning to see the lovely dusting of snow making a winter wonderland, in your face global warming.

Meanwhile here at Mt. Barker
We did NOT get snow
Unfortunately as my lady
Was waiting & all excited
At the prospect.
But on Thursday & Friday
It was freeeeeezing
And the rain just bucketed down.
And all the local creeks & river were flooding
Over the road – even down the bottom of my road.
I asked some Facebook friends to
Tell me how much rain they got.
One replied from about 2 ks away with
47 mm on Thursday &
67 mm on Friday !
Wow ! Drought breaking !
Meanwhile the BOM BOM thinks
That we got 17 mm on Thursday
And 38 mm on Friday.
That gauge is. It’s just 4-5 houses away over my back fence.
It’s the weather station that Jo posted about a week ago.
It’s is very close to houses and trees and a fence.
So it is not just temperature which is wrong
So too is the rainfall gauge !
A buggered BOM weather site !

Maybe Bill you should have left the “ed” off?

Ummmmm ?
Past, present & future tenses !
The BOM weather site at Mt Barker
Is stuffed.

Stuffed -just like the CCTV in the late Jeffrey Edelstein’s high security gaol cell in the Democratically controlled New York gaol.

Epstein’s maybe?
CDC say, people with dirt on the Clinton’s have 843% greater risk of suicide.
Sorry to hear Jeffery Epstein passed away ….next Friday. @Hillary Clinton Aug 6.

re Mt Barker
Jo is right – there is a Mt Barker in SA (in the Adelaide Hills).
Jo is wrong – there is a Mt Barker in WA -(small town north of Albany).
Yonniestone,
Yep my ERROR – Epstein it is.
Another of the couple of dozen who have had the Clinton Flu.
You look at each one of the deaths (accidents, suicides, heart attacks) individually and the logical response is “it’s just a conspiracy theory”. But when it is repeated 24 times to people who had the wood on the Clintons!!!!!
60
Bill in oz is the Mount Barker in WA or SA.
50
Stephen, SA. 🙂

And Mt. Barker (S.A. version) wasn’t actually freezing last Friday, it got UP to 7℃ by 3 p.m. Mind you the wind and the drizzle combined to make it feel cold. I can remember minus 7℃ in Sweden which was more pleasant, must be getting old.
40
It was cold at 3.30 Graeme
When we exited the cafe which was closing up.
Good to catch up with you again

Thanks Jo
Been away dancing Argentine Tango
In Adelaide.
Great milonga !

The BOM probably built a shelter over the rain gauge to protect the BBQ pit.

I got so sick of the rubbish Adelaide weather I fled the country.
Now in London. 20 degrees. Warmer!!!
So to all my South Aussie buddies? Sorry I am not really sorry! 🙂

Well Muddy, enjoy the Uk warm’er weather
Of their Summer !
But let us all know
How the battle against the Grrenists
Is progressing there.

Saw a XR sticker while riding the tube today. Assume it was made from 100% bio degradable materials of course.
Interestingly parts of central London are labelled zero emissions zones. I assume all part of Khan’s London.
Got to admit, I love London. It is grotty, confusing and a borderline police state (bus lanes are camera enforced), but then you get the sheer majesty of some of the buildings and the pragmatic attitude to sitting outside a pub drinking at 6 pm on a Sunday. Also room temp ale and beer battered cod served with mushy peas.
But also, yeah, it’s Green from the neck up. Remember, London likes the EU.

NSW Mid North Coast, Barrington Tops, Great Dividing Range: Sunday afternoon forecast maximum 2C with snow showers.

In VIC just outdide Melbourne. People causing traffic chaos today parking on the highway to go tobogganing at the Dom Dom picnic ground on the Black Spur Rd above Healesville. Saves a $50 entry fee at Lake Mountain I guess.
First time we have seen snow down that low.
120
Amazing isn’t it, snow, ice, mud, cold tyres and someone thinks its a good idea to park partially on a road or highway.
Same thing this morning on Mt Bunninyong (Ballarat) narrow two lane road going into a single one way up and down, cars parked half on the road causing bottlenecks and self managed traffic control to pass.
I’ve been going up here most weekends for 15 years and have never seen so much damage to the road verge, mud the whole way.
101
Our daughter took a photo of people tobogganing on Dom Dom Saddle today. I took some of snow on Mt Cathedral and there was plenty too on the Black Range and the Blue Range. I didn’t manage to get to Marysville as I too tied up with other things but friends had wonderful pictures of the heavy snow there. We still have a photo, taken by a local, of our old shed on Marysville in the snow, taken years ago (sometime in the 90s). We are just below snow level and had quite a lot of sleet yesterday. The wind was biting but all the sloshing mud was unfrozen! Welly boot time.
50
I can remember it snowing on the 8th August 1993 at that spot as I had to drive with a small furniture trailer over there to move some stuff into our first little house in Marysville. The photo today from DD showed much more that actually settled! Brrr…

Any. Hence of a new cold record anywhere out of this for this time of year?

The BOM will make sure there isn’t.

So everyone will be watching Attenborough on 2 tonight.Got to get the facts!

heard on the radio this morning that people were travelling to Stanthorpe in the hope of seeing snow, but it failed to materialise this morning. people were hoping they might get some tonight:
11 Aug: BrisbaneTimes: Increasing chance of snow with Stanthorpe set to freeze at minus 5
By Tony Moore
The residents of Queensland’s wintriest town have been primed for a second freezing August night dreaming of the possibility of snow.
On Sunday afternoon, forecasters were predicting a 20 per cent chance of snow in Stanthorpe as rain combined with freezing temperatures pushed down by the polar blast from Victoria…
The Bureau of Meteorology expected any Monday morning snow in Stanthorpe to fall before dawn when the temperature could be as low as minus 5 degrees.
It predicted “areas of severe morning frost” for Stanthorpe and the Granite Belt, with slight (20 per cent) chance of a shower over the Granite Belt well before dawn, possibly falling as snow or sleet above 1000 metres”.
Weather bureau forecaster Kimba Wong said on Sunday evening the extra moisture in the atmosphere made it more likely it would snow just before midnight on Sunday and into Monday morning.
“It would be heading towards midnight and possibly a little bit after midnight as well,” Ms Wong said.
“It had been a little bit too dry for snow on Saturday night but it is looking a little bit more moist coming into Sunday night.
“There is the possibility we could see snow, or some sleet around the southern parts of the Granite Belt. It would probably be south of Stanthorpe, not in Stanthorpe itself.
“It is certainly cold enough. It just depends if there is enough moisture in the air.”
Ms Wong said the final temperature depended on the wind.
“We are expecting minus five but if the wind picks up it could be a little bit warmer than that.”
Earlier in the week, the bureau predicted 5 per cent chance of snow for the region…
Stanthorpe should warm to 18 degrees on Monday before again sinking below zero. It could be minus 3 on Tuesday morning.
***But Ms Wong said there had been no snow in Queensland during winter 2019 “as yet…

11 Aug: news.com.au: Commuters warned not to drive as snow and 90km winds continue lash south east Australia
It’s snowing in Queensland as the dangerous polar low that swept through Victoria and NSW travels further north. This picture says it all.
by Imogen Reid; with AAP
Queensland has proved it’s not immune to the polar blast pummeling the south east of Australia, as icy gusts could deliver snow to some parts of the state.
Overnight temperatures dropped up to nine degrees below average as the chances of Queensland’s second snow storm of the year increase as frost fell over large parts of the region.
“It definitely is cold and Queensland will have another night of cold air mass,” senior meteorologist at the weather bureau Grace Legge said.
“They could see frost through large areas, possibly even as high as the Atherton Tablelands tonight and tomorrow morning,”
“There’s even a slight risk they could see a dusting of snow in the southern parts there, depending on whether any showers do form.”…
QUEENSLAND
Queensland shivered its way through last night as a final icy blast saw temperatures fall well below average in many parts of the state…
The sunshine state is expected to see it’s ***second snowfall of the year, after a rare weather event left Queenslanders shivering in the Southern Downs as snow flurries hit Eukey and Stanthorpe in June.

11 Aug: StanthorpeBorderPost: BOM admit Warwick temperature colder than official reading
by Gerard Walsh
THERE is still a possiblity of snow in the higher areas on the Granite Belt and around Tenterfield.
Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Kimba Wong said the temperature at Applethorpe was down to 1.6 degress on Sunday morning.
“It was minus 1.4 degrees at Dalby and four degrees in Warwick,” she said.
“It probably felt colder in Warwick due to the windshield. Frosts are possible under four degrees if the wind drops off.”
“There is the possibility of snow around midnight Sunday in higher areas of the Granite Belt like around Girraween National Park,” she said.
“Showers are forecast and are more likely as sleet or snow.”
The chances of snow on Sunday night are greater in areas above 1000m.

Well gee what do you know-we live in Leura in the blue mountains ,very near Katoomba and in 28 years we’ve never experienced so much snow two days in a row it looked
like a snow bound European village in winter. And I had to keep saying to this is the “clear and present danger” of global warming.Remember this catch phrase had to
be retired when not much global warming was happening and then substituted with the more nebulous and more “serious ” Climate Change-where every weather event
is evidence for for humans being guilty for this whole “new catastrophe”.So this crazy illogical process (and lack of plain common sense) now reigns supreme just like-
a few years ago when we would read in the MSM that just about everything causes cancer!!! Okay now its all like a Monty skit where logic dictates that if she is a witch then she floats however if she sinks she is also a witch. It all very much looks like -a lets cover all bases approach to new age science.
Cheers Mike Reed

CSIRO, 2005:
“Like those who rely on the Great Barrier Reef, the Australian ski industry sees itself as a frontline victim of global warming.
A 2003 CSIRO report, part-funded by the ski industry, found that the resorts could lose a quarter of their snow in 15 years, and half by 2050.
“[Global warming] is happening,” says Fairley.
“It is a live issue, not something that may happen in 10 or 20 or 100 years.
It is with us now, as we stand in the lift queue.
The CSIRO report written by Kevin Hennessy, principal research scientist in the climate impacts group, and his colleagues, has underpinned policy for the Victorian Alpine Resorts Strategy 2020 and the Kosciuszko National Park strategy, 2004.”

The first snow I ever saw was on that little range between Bathurst & Orange in 1951. There was about an inch or so, & hundreds had driven from both towns to see the rare phenomena.
So 68 years of global warming means the SES have to rescue motorists from the much deeper snow today.
How can there still be people foolish enough to still believe this garbage.

Got stuck in Blayney early morning because of snow, probably around 1980ish !

Why do we criticize our BoM?
“The winter climate outlook, issued 30 May 2019, suggests a drier than average winter is likely for much of eastern and parts of southern Australia.
Daytime temperatures during winter are very likely to be warmer than average.
With more cloud-free days and nights expected, there is an increased risk of frost in susceptible areas.
Below average winter rainfall is likely for much of eastern Australia, southeastern SA, and WA’s southern coast.”
60
Same here in adelaide hills couldnt be more wrong if they tried Ive had 16 inches since May 1st when the forcast was for dry winter, yet if I go onto BOM site the official record is about half that, just rains at my place or maybe the neighbour is pissing in my gauge.
