26,000 junkets now in Spain at the UN Climate Change COP 25. Largest delegations? Ivory Coast and Congo

Junketees are on the move

Last week tens of thousands of officials, observers, and hanger-on-erers began their annual migration. To make the journey some 26,700 climate junketees used a form of petroleum and one caught a boat. Currently they are immersed in the seasonal two-week harvest before they migrate back.  Most delegates are collecting dollars, while others provide cash and collect Global Frequent Fashion Points instead.

Ponder that 11,000 athletes took part in the last Olympic Games and that’s only held once every four years. The COP events are the Olympics of government games.

Robert McSweeney of Carbonbrief  analyzes the UN Lists to find out which countries sent the most people. This year the junketee migration largely started in Africa, was headed to Chile, but somehow ended up in Spain. In 2019 the countries saving the world were the Côte d’Ivoire with 348 delegates, and both types of Congo with 293 and 163 delegates each.

This breaks down into: 13,643 people representing specific parties, 9,987 from observer organisations – such as scientists, business groups and various non-governmental organisations – and 3,076 journalists.

Marvel that 3,000 journalists have gone there yet we already know what they will write.

It’s an odd list, but looking at the top ten tells us a lot about the Climate Industry. Follow the money…

Delegates to the UN FCCC COP 25 conference

Click to see the longer list

Commiserations to the Spanish (who are the hosts with 175 delegates) and the Canadians (with 145) and French (124) who are all supporting a large crew. On the longer list, (click to see it), the US is sending 78 (who knows why?), the UK — 48, Australia only 20 (a miracle), and New Zealand just 19. Perplexingly, a country called the European Union is sending more people than France and Germany are.

Last year Guinea sent 406 people. This year, only 159.

Carbonbrief can tell you all the details you didn’t want to know, including the exact percentage of females to males, and which ten nations are sending an equal gender mix:

There are 10 countries that have delegations with a 50-50 split, which are Spain (172 delegates in total), Mozambique (48), Poland (38), the Seychelles (34), Belize (28), Tuvalu (18), Armenia (12), the Bahamas (10), Cuba (8) and Dominica (4).

The world is at stake, but there are a Frequent Fashion Points at play here, and intersectionality “scores”. Though 50:50 sex ratios are not ideal, and the winners are the two countries with all women delegates — get ready:

Two countries have all-female delegations – Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (six delegates) and Syria (one).

If you live in a rich nation, remember your taxes make this possible.

I thought that I’d put this up at the top to show just how difficult debating this issue really is. This is from a very highly subscribed Australian website that includes a lot of people with various levels of technical etc knowledge. It’s truly sad to see that debate is banned:

The purpose of this thread is to discuss the potential consequences of—and potential solutions to climate change. Contributions to the discussion must assume mainstream science. Disputing the science is off-topic;…

Windy Wellington and NZ as a whole have been experiencing windy unsettled weather. The “experts” are out and about saying this “prolonged” spell of wind is unusual. Lots of focusing on east coast temps also. Due to the Fohn winds (NW Flow) The east coasts of NZ have been warm. Although normal, its worse because of climate change you see. No explanation as to why.
And its the hottest Weather ever of course, its just crazy. I mean it nearly hit 20 degrees here today.

Windy Wellington and NZ as a whole have been experiencing windy unsettled weather.

Auckland has been pretty calm and settled. The Cook Strait area has looked a bit bouncy.

In Auckland/Northland we have had a lot of cloud cover last summer, all this year and into this summer, with morning cloud and sometimes clearing around the middle of the day. Wind? Where? Occasional thunder storms bring a bit of it.
Temperatures last summer were cool: we didn’t get the cicadas until the last weekend in January which was declared a heat wave ppffpfpfp.Hmph. Yeah right: for three days! The cicadas didn’t last to the end of the week. Usually, they are out 1-2 weeks before Christmas and `singing’ day and night over late January and through February. So they are still silent although one was heard to be trying to start two days ago when temp touched 27 °C. Today it’s 24°C and cloudy; so it’s still a bit low’

If you think weather has been just crazy then this could be having an effect. If it is, then it’s going to get steadily worse — and cooler.

The Weather arrives this weekend and Auckland will get it’s bad weather Sunday arvo/evening. It looks as though it will be heavy. The South Island is a wet disaster with the Rangitata River overflowing and cutting the South Island in half from West Coast to East Coast.

I used to hold out hope that some of theme are honest. But nothing of the sort. From the UN on down the only thing that counts is their own personal power. And the sad thing is they’re doing exactly what we give them incentive to do.

If I can be thankful for anything it’s the fact that they are too incompetent to work together well enough to get the total power they want.

Consensus and pseudo-science have been Siamese-twins, ever since humans discovered observing and rationalizing using logic. Consensus is the quintessence of deep intellectual cowardice, the self-defeating sloth of a weak and incompetent mind. Any attempt to ‘educate’ a person right away fails and becomes a wasted effort if the educated person is individually too spineless, dishonest and corrupt to live up to it.

Consensus occurs where developed minds and honesty are completely absent.

There is a great book written by a doctor called “The Cholesterol Myth”. Essential reading.

At the core of allvthis appears to be an agenda to push people away from eating animalscand onto a vegie diet. The cholesterol nonsense is just one plank of the overall plan. Then drive farmers off the labd by witholding water or no hazard reduction burning and sssocuated Agenda 21 rewilding of farm land …..add in CAGW as the main driver and …. voila!

It’s little wonder the UN is crying poor and asking for financial help. The CoP party has the guests but the bar hasn’t got the booze. The UN hasn’t got any money. I’m going to be mean and hope it’s going to be a dull party this year. One has to wonder if the reason why the delegations are so large is because the partying is probably legendary!

It’s a simple sum: hordes of delegates drink ocean liners of booze which cost mountains of money. And hey! The UN is suddenly poor!
      🙂
Now, this is not quite fact-free speculation. If you fact-check it, you will find that yes, the UN has been crying “Poor” over the last four months and has been openly saying it needs members to pay their dues … preferably before it runs out of money.

Maybe it’s because the world hasn’t yet worked through the global recession (have you heard of it at all?) caused by the 2017 Credit Crunch the Ministers of Finance of the world through The World Wan … Bank and IMF jacked up in Davos … never mind. It will be coming right in the New Year when it takes off at the end of the first quarter.

For some reason — I just can’t put my finger on it — I have no sympathy for the CoP-ers at all.

COP 25: Hysteria meets diplomacy in Madrid (my latest blast)
    https://www.cfact.org/2019/12/05/cop-25-hysteria-meets-diplomacy-in-madrid/

The climate change hysteria movement is expecting bold action at the COP 25 climate summit now on in Madrid. That is not how these protracted international negotiations work. One wonders what the hysterical reaction to inaction will be?

As I have pointed out, the climate alarmism movement is tearing itself into two camps.

They are not yet warring camps but after Madrid they well may be. COP 25 is real negotiations, by real countries, over real issues. The issues are stupid, but still real, because they can lead to really stupid national actions. This I call the moderate camp of alarmists. The hysterics want impossible actions, stuff that cannot happen, which sets them against the moderates.

For example, the hysterics want immediate drastic action to reduce co2 emissions. The nations meeting in Madrid have adopted very mild emission reduction measures, or promises at least. The big issue is whether they will increase their ambitions next year, at COP 26. Nothing is on the table this year. This has to infuriate the hysterics.

The hysterics want emissions to end by 2030 (which is impossible). The COP nations are dickering over maybe setting a goal of net zero emissions (which still allows emissions) by 2050. The hysterics have to hate this.

The biggest issue on the table at COP 25 is what the rules should be for a new emission trading scheme. I call this the sale of indulgences and explain in detail here.

Given that billions of dollars worth of indulgences are at stake for big countries like China and Brazil, this is a huge issue for the moderates. The hysterics damn it as just a way to avoid taking domestic action. In this case they are correct.

There are other huge issues of wealth transfer either on the table in Madrid, or hoping to get there, or standing beside the table, or something (the metaphor is getting away from me).

The developing countries want to see some evidence that the promised $100 billion a year in bribes from the developed countries will actually begin next year (it will not). The promises for emission reduction by the developing countries are predicated on that big money coming. The hysterics could care less about who pays for what. Funding is not part of their grand plans, like the Green New Deal.

Then there is the lumbering giant slowly approaching the Madrid table, the giant whose stage name is Loss and Damage. The giant’s real name is Compensation. This is the idea that the developed countries should compensate the developing ones for all the future damages due to human caused climate change. In practice this probably means pretty much all bad weather, all sea level rise, etc. The official estimate here is $400 billion a year but that could easily grow. I am not making this up.

Th last time the giant was on the table, it was exiled to a study-like limbo. But that study has now ended, so the biggest issue of all may find its way back to the table. What happens then is anybody’s guess.

But the hysterics have no need for the giant Compensation. Their avowed program is to quickly end human caused climate change, so the issue of future loss and damage simply does not arise for them.

There are more big differences, but these are enough to show the yawning policy gap between the two camps. The COP 25 negotiations and the hysterical climate emergency movement are about as far apart as two camps can get.

How the hysterics react to COP 25’s inaction remains to be seen. It could be quite a show. Stay tuned to CFACT for the blow by blow.

        bemused:
I very much doubt that they can keep this scare going much longer. If it weren’t for the ABC and its subsiduary hangers-on the dam of disapproval would have burst. People are fed up with rising electricity bills when they were promised “cheaper renewables”. Then the State (and Federal) bureaucracies have been increasingly funded by taxes without any benefit to the ordinary citizen.
The threat to vote elsewhere recently to the Deputy PM and head of the Nationals by desperate farmers will cause a few politicians to focus on survival, and lead to some agitation about getting value for money from the bureaucrats. The recent announcement of amalgamations by the P.M. doesn’t cut numbers, but is a step towards reductions in the Canberra establishment. After all if you want to save money why not get rid of the Clean Energy lot. How many Commissions, Authorities, co-ordinating committees etc. do we really need?
And if you wanted to save lots of money what about the Canberra Education staffing? Years of money being poured in and the results have been so bad that the “public service” doesn’t want the results published. Who needs them?
To paraphrase a former P.M. “never stand between P.M. desperate for votes and a reduction in red tape”.

What I’m seeing with this hysterics vs moderates scenario is a distraction from the main enemy, the UN/IPCC.

The essential in any war is to know the enemy. By creating an extremist fringe the main army of our enemy can pose as our saviour. If we deal with the responsible officers they’ll protect us from the mad fringe they actually created.

Our real long term enemy is the centre and main body of the climatariat. They are the people offering compromise, moderation, toleration and even an openness to skeptical opinions. They may go so far as to hold a few skeptical opinions. These are the people with the real clout and who can go the distance for the new collectivism.

Beware of the reasonable enemy who offers protection and a slower, less painful conquest. That’s the real enemy, that’s been the only enemy all along. When we living tiny and eating bugs, it will be too late to realise it.

Ever since we started having the bush fires this season the hysteria over them have reached new heights with some blaming them on man-made climate change. Watching the news today one would have thought the whole of Australia is burning. I would not be surprised if someone brings this up at the conference in Spain.

I say let the fires burn as it’s natural and necessary. We should only focus on preventing loss of life, not trying hopelessly to stop the large bush fires. Bush fires on a wide scale as we know not only have occurred throughout history but will continue to take place and are in fact necessary. Otherwise, if they are prevented from proceeding to their natural conclusion one day we will have a real fire-storm that might lead to a loss of life in the many hundreds if not thousands.

My thoughts as well. Unless a forest area is actively managed, preventing a fire this year or next just means it will be more intense when it does eventually burn.

Property needs to be separated from forests.

A real concern is the compactness of modern housing developments. Large houses are squeezed together. There is high risk of fire spread from one house to the next. Fire fighting in compact developments with limited access will be challenging.

AUDIO: 3m2s: 5 Dec: ABC: Power companies looking to pay customers to cut their energy use
    By Stephen Long on AM
It may only be the start of summer, but blackouts are already on the minds of power companies and governments.
You may have heard on yesterday’s program that the Australian Energy Market Operator is preparing for a hot summer that will put our electricity grid under pressure, with power prices set to soar on days of peak demand.
But what if you could help the network by cutting consumption, and get paid for it?
That’s already happening in Queensland, and a similar scheme could soon be rolled out nationwide.

AUDIO: 5m39s: 4 Dec: ABC: AEMO warns hot summer weather could see blackouts in Victoria
    By Sabra Lane on AM
Given the hot weather and bushfires we’ve seen in recent weeks, the Australian Energy Market Operator, or AEMO thinks that could be a taste of what’s to come this summer.
It says the national energy grid could be under threat of power blackouts from extreme weather, bushfires and storms.
The agency’s just published its summer readiness plan, and it’s drawn up contingency plans to direct networks to cut power to customers if there’s not enough electricity to go around, warning that the risk is highest in Victoria.

5 Dec: ABC: Power companies will soon be paying you to cut your energy use
      By Stephen Long
Late morning, as the temperature rises, Peter Casey reaches for the remote and turns on the air conditioning at his home in suburban Brisbane.
The units installed on the walls of his apartment look the same as any other air conditioners, but there is a difference.
      They’re fitted with “PeakSmart” technology…

Demand management keeps the lights on and bills down
PeakSmart air conditioners are installed in about 100,000 households…
“Without demand management we wouldn’t be able to keep customers connected” (Peter Price, an executive general manager at Energy Queensland)…

Big energy users are also involved, including Stadiums Queensland, which operates a series of sports and entertainment venues including Lang Park, home of the Brisbane Broncos NRL team, and the home grounds of the North Queensland Cowboys and the Gold Coast Titans…

Soon the rest of the nation will get a taste of what the Sunshine State has pioneered, but in an even more sophisticated form.

    20 Australians seems excessive.
    1. We don’t make anything so we have nothing to sell.
    2. We are payees not recipients. The people who want our cash are all there.

The EU is there because it’s their show. Unelected bureaucrats flogging worthless carbon indulgences.

The Americans are there to make sure some American actor does not forge Donald Trump’s signature.

So you wonder who they are? Former Liberal leader John Hewson who didn’t understand the GST but loves the Solar Panel handouts?
Kevin Rudd who speaks Chinese badly and asking about the Chinese pink batt market? Malcolm Turnbull looking for fame and feeling unloved, on behalf of Goldmann Sachs Australia?

And which overpaid, over there public servants enjoying first class travel to Spain? At least Julie Bishop is not there, but you have to wonder? At least she doesn’t have our cheque book with a lazy $400 million to pay for dinner.

Julia Gillard perhaps, looking for that UN job and getting blue? Perhaps ex NZ Prime Minister and Carbon taxer, Helen Clarke who was rewarded with the big UN 3rd position. You cannot say the UN doesn’t look after its friends.

The champagne must be flowing like a river, despite the snow on the Sierras, snow which was never going to happen again. Perhaps a bit skiing to celebrate Global Warming?

A comment on delegations. There are many international gatherings where the biggest and most lavishly appointed delegations come from countries rife with corruption. The delegations are just an extension of that.

I have mentioned this before, but all this junketeering goes way way back.

I started this blogging thing back in early 2008, and my original concentration was on the original Kyoto Protocol, and the spur was Kevin Rudd signing Oz up to finally ratify it, that all important second and final signature. I thought that Series was going to be small, but it morphed out to more than 50 separate Posts, and started me off in what I do now.

Looking at that original Kyoto document was an eye opener, and while information about it was large in 2008, all the information added across the years saw all that morph away from one website into a number of really humungous websites of information.

Now, while large at that time, in 2008, there was one small phrase which stood right out (for me anyway) and even then it was ‘swamped’ by all the other information, so it was relatively easy to miss. This one small phrase explains just WHY all these tiny Nations send large delegations to these conferences.

That phrase is this, just ten short words in brackets following other text:

(Developed Countries which pay for all costs of developing Countries)

I mentioned it in some of those earlier Posts in that original Series, but I gave it a second and more in depth Post of its own, after the first mention in a Post in mid 2008. That second Post was in the lead up to the Cancun conference, the next conference after, (so, one year later) than the Copenhagen conference.

If any of you have the inclination to read it, I have enclosed the link below, and be aware that this was written in November of 2009, so a couple of the news articles I have linked to in that Post have now disappeared down the memory hole of ‘Page not found 404’.

This is why those small Countries send such large delegations, cashing in on the largesse of the UN, and wanting to be sure they are at the sharp end of ‘divvying’ up all that lovely Climate cash.

The UN and Climate Change – Ten Fateful Words

Now, keep in mind that the original document for that Kyoto Protocol came from 1997, so 22 years ago now, and they have one of these Climate conferences each and every year. Kyoto was the third, and the first was in Berlin (say, who would have thought) two years earlier in 1995. (two conferences in 2001, so that’s why this one is COP25)

Also keep in mind here that according to that original Kyoto document, the (now) largest emitter on Earth, China, is one of those Developing Countries eligible for all that climate cash.

    Tony.

Population of Ivory Coast Côte d’Ivoire – Developing Country – 25 Million – 384 delegates with a couple of elected representatives my guess.

Population of Australia – Developed Country – 25 Million – 20 delegates with one Elected representative.

This will get me MODERATEd for sure.

One morning a blind bunny was hopping down the bunny trail
and tripped over a large snake and fell, kerplop right on his
      twitchy little nose.
‘Oh, please excuse me,’ said the bunny.
‘I didn’t mean to trip over you, but I’m blind and can’t see.’
‘That’s perfectly all right,’ replied the snake. ‘To be sure, it was my fault.
I didn’t mean to trip you, but I’m blind too, and didn’t see you coming.
By the way, what kind of animal are you?’

‘Well, I really don’t know,’ said the bunny. ‘I’m blind, and I’ve never seen
myself. Maybe you could examine me and find out.’
So, the snake felt the bunny all over, and he said, ‘Well, you’re soft,
and cuddly, and you have long silky ears, and a little fluffy tail and
a dear twitchy little nose. You must be a bunny rabbit!’
      The bunny said,
‘I can’t thank you enough. But by the way, what kind of animal are you?’
The snake replied that he didn’t know either, and the bunny agreed to
examine him, and when the bunny was finished, the snake asked,
‘Well, what kind of an animal am I?’
The bunny had felt the snake all over, and he replied,
‘You’re cold, you’re slippery, and you have no balls …
      You must be a POLITICIAN’

You are a person of adequate means and intellect. You know, in some part of your brain, that this has to happen. Because BATTERY. But you go ahead anyway.

Let me harp here: the problem is not a kid with an eating disorder from a narcissist mummy or a Soros rent-a-crowd rioting for climate. The problem is the statist corporations and the corporatised states and the slave media, all working together to persuade, condition and, if needed, bully.

Think about it. You get to keep your traffic, they just double the frustration. And you’ll thank them. Just like you get to keep your burger on a spongy roll, gobbled down in haste. The corporation will give you bugs or some sort of bean protein for the patty, but apart from that there’ll be no change to upset. Everything will look and function just like before…only with queues and bugs. And you’ll thank them. If the power stays on while you’re waiting to charge and while your Beyond Meat Burger is sizzling…oh, how grateful you will be.

And the UN will be your shield and persuade those Burkina Faso delegates they can only have half of the millions they want. Don’t forget to say thank you.

I think it’s reaching the point where any pretence of facts is gone, as Andrew Bolt noted in his own battles against the media, the ABC specifically. The question is whether anyone believes this nonsense and I doubt anyone visiting COP25 believes a word of it, except perhaps Greta. Which is exploitation but everyone knows that too.

Consider the Trump Impeachment. Does anyone in the Democrat party who all voted except one for impeachment believe Trump has done anything wrong or there is any evidence of high crimes and misdemeanours in his telephone call to the Ukraine? No.

As Donald Trump has said from the first day, it is all fake news. Man made Global Warming, impeachment. We are living in an age where the press are so actively writing the news, what actually happened is almost irrelevant. In Victoria we have put a Catholic Cardinal in jail with no evidence or witnesses at all on the basis of an outrageously unlikely story. In the US the Congress which just censured China for the treatment of the Uigurs and the Hong Kong people cares nothing at all about Chinese CO2? The Uigurs and the Hong Kong people are worthy causes but what about the whole planet? The planned Chinese increase in CO2 exceeds the entire EU output, but nothing is said? It tells you they don’t believe a word of it.

So apart from opportunism, virtue signalling, grandstanding and political opportunism, the news is all fake, manipulated, selected, invented. Apparently people care more about Tesla’s truck than Kim Jong Un’s nuclear missiles or Iran’s nuclear bombs. And COP25 is obviously nothing more than business meetings by all the very rich carbon dealers in private jets and first class travel and minister’s salaries and expense accounts who are running the world UN/EU CO2 scam. What else could it be? In the internet age, it’s a total contradiction.

It’s not the big plenum meeting with flags flying. 25,000 people are there for the private meetings behind closed doors, the handshakes, the trading, the things which cannot be written or sent on email or in public. The carbon scam.

Would that 25,000 people met to decide what to do about Ukraine or North Korea or Iran or Iraq? They leave that stuff to the diplomats and the military. COP25 is all about the carbon cash.

And what to do if the temperature drops, as is certain and is already obvious across Europe and the US and even in Bangladesh where the government was handing out blankets in the tropics. The carbon traders will need an explanation soon, of course one which blames ‘carbon dioxide’. The stuff used in photosynthesis and from which all living things are made.

Totally of subject, or is it, the daily bizarre media, hunting a story, it like a record stuck in a grove.

Little need for acknowledging authorship, that is all contained in the link below.

But ,one-very sick puppy, what else could you say!

And I expect the RSPCA are onto it as we speak, will they obtain government grant, to track down the original owner?

    ***one bright spot:

5 Dec: ClimateChangeNews: Cop25 Bulletin: A rare press conference
By Chloé Farand, Karl Mathiesen and Jocelyn Timperley
In a rare press conference hosted by the government of China, a panel of experts (which didn’t include any government officials) dodged questions about whether Beijing would enhance its climate plan next year…

***No no ECO… For the first time, ECO, the daily newsletter published by Climate Action Network (Can) and which is read by diplomats, journos and observers alike is not being distributed inside the conference venue.
Can claims UN Climate Change “banned” the publication on the basis Cop25 was a paperless event. Campaigners have been distributed the paper outside the conference centre but were moved on by security on Wednesday morning.

Tasneem Essop, Can’s executive director, called the decision “unprecedented” and the excuse “nonsensical” and said it was “ironic that polluters seem to have a bigger influence in these talks than the people”…

Jo, so many absurd revelations have blossomed forth from the climate establishment junk science factory that the details eventually blur together into one giant indistinct insanity and we can easily forget that new announcements actually have precedents. You have already made the connection between the Ivory Coast and U.N. climate cash many years ago, but perhaps a little reminder is helpful.

Anyone wanting know what the connection is between COP25 and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation will be suprised to learn the missing link is chocolate, and the countries with the cocoa have claimed chocolate is threatened.

Australia’s delegates include 15 from Marise Payne’s Dept Foreign Affairs and Trade, and 5 from Angus Taylors, Department of Environment and Energy. This would have to cost Australia no less than the $250,000. Money which surely could have been saved or spent on something worthwhile.
