Trump is the only president in history who won’t leave the office richer

The seed for every advert for the Donald Trump Campaign is somewhere in there.

Trump is the only president in history who didn’t need to be President to be rich and famous

… so rich he already had his own plane and may have had to settle for a smaller one to take office.

There is something to be said for electing leaders who are so wealthy they are hard to buy off.

    Good morning Jo,
We truly live in amazing times.
Just the other day I was thinking how my kids and grand-kids will be able to tell their friends/family about Anzac Day 2020. And how their dad (& pop/resp.) was able to hold his own private Dawn Service.
We have a small guest-house, and my son is building his own house at the southern end of my long block, so with our three guests and two grand-kids (total 10 people), and some material from my Aust. Defence Force stamp collection – & a make-shift flag-pole of a dead Xmas palm tree … we were able to have our own intimate service.
So to will they be able to tell their kids/grand-kids about the President that literally saved the world from all the Quasi-Socialist b.s.!
Not only did he create over 5 million jobs pre-covid; not only did he have the balls to take on the socialist media & social media; he didn’t profit from his office like many/most before him!!
By the way, how does an ex-university lecturer/ex-senator/ex-president afford a $15 million luxury home on Martha’s Vineyard?
(Not to mention the fact that this is at sea level & for much of his 8 years in office he was parroting about that same sea level rising!)
I’m pretty confident after seeing a story in AmericanThinker yesterday that he will win in 5 1/2 months.
This is in-spite of all the usual nay-sayers on main-stream.
As usual, keep up the great work Jo.
Warm regards, Reformed Warmist of Logan.

At Logan you should remember Joh Bjelke-Petersen The best premier any state ever had made no wealth for himself.

For twenty years he kept Trump’s Swamp at bay, but they got him in the end. Let’s hope that they don’t get Trump too.

Hillary Clinton famously complained that she and Bill were ‘broke’ when they left office. A mere $400,000 a year and all expenses paid for eight years and they could not break even? Endless sacrifice?

No Presidential candidate is poor. You need tens of millions to get the job and not to work for years before the election and the endless travel and your entire team of dozens of people. So you need to be very rich or to have very rich backers, none of whom are disinterested in the result. And if you have a business, you have to get more than arm’s length away because the potential for compromise is huge. Which is why the Democrats will never stop chasing Donald Trump’s tax returns in the courts, supported by Obama appointee activist judges. The idea that judges are apolitical does not apply in America.

That is presumably why they set up the Clinton foundation to channel the lucrative speaking fees for the following years. And then Hillary’s job as Secretary of State. Who really sets up their own Secretary of State PC server in their home garage? And Huma Abaden decoded her encrypted and often top secret documents and stored them in English on Yahoo? Because Hillary liked to read them printed out when she came home to Huma? The scandals are endless for the Secretary of State. And Huma’s ‘husband’ had them on his laptop, seized by the NY Police and again by the CIA because of the contents.

However what was not mentioned was the cost of fending off the Whitewater scandal or Bill’s endless court actions on assault. You have to assume all the scandals which surrounded Hillary anb Bill were false. Like the Morroccan arms deal which only went ahead only after their donation to the Clinton Foundation. Or the massive sale of American uranium to the Russians. There was so much potential for compromise and blatant selling of favors for cash. Even Australia’s Julie Bishop donated millions to the Clinton Foundation. Biden and son was an even more obvious double teaming of Ukraine and China.

And as Trump says, Obamagate makes Watergate look like a picnic. And Watergate saw over 40 operatives jailed. Obamagate is underway and the number prosecuted could be much bigger.

No one becomes President of the United States for the salary.

Then for some unknown reason, once she became Secretary of State, people all over the world started to pay Bill hundreds of thousands of dollars for a chat. Nothing to see here.

“Who really sets up their own Secretary of State PC server in their home garage?”

A public official who doesn’t want their corruption exposed. It wasn’t for convenience, it was a clear indication of consciousness of guilt that laws would be broken ‘for the greater good’ that non the less needed to be hidden from the public. To bad they trashed the server. I’ll bet any amount of money that it contained incriminating evidence regarding the conspiracy to defraud the America voter by interfering with the smooth transition of power, which otherwise has been a hallmark of American politics. The last time this happened was more of a prank than a crime which was removing all the W’s from the keyboards when George W Bush succeeded Clinton. Let’s see now, who is the most high profile person involved with both?

It is instructive to leave aside both the wealth, and personality, and ask how the American experiment has fared under this administration.
What has happened to and is happened to the institutions of government, what is happening in the private sector, how goes the culture and jurisprudence?

Like the chief executive of any enterprise, the boss makes a few key decisions, sets a tenor, and monitors events, responding to them as necessary.

For three years, the economy went well and some consequential legislation was passed. A large number of judges were appointed.
This year the nation has had to respond to a global pandemic.

When Americans vote this year, however, I think the deciding swing vote will be from a middle class, some ‘soft’ but traditional Republican and some ‘soft’
but traditional Democrat. These voters are rarely available across party lines; they voted for Reagan and against Goldwater in prior landslides.

I think they will, this year, come to a conclusion which party had their best interests in mind in response to the pandemic, and vote in rather large
numbers in that direction. Since the jury is still out on the course of both the virus and the economic recovery, it is also out on the election…strangely
though I don’t know that the campaign will have nearly the impact of events. The events of the first three years may reinforce the decision.

Might be the first election in my lifetime clearly decided by performance instead of promises.

President Kennedy did not take a salary as his family was wealthy. President Truman had to take out a bank loan after he left office. It is only since President Clinton that Presidents have gotten wealthy through their ‘public service’.

No But it did qualify him to be President. Reagan set the agenda and then went for an afternoon sleep.
And why shouldn’t he take a nap? Many White house staff to do all that work. Reagan was known as the Great Communicator. He put the GOP philosophy into words that people understood! That was his strength. Put out the plan and tell the people how it is.

What President Trump is up against is that virtually every media outlet is against him, precisely because of what was mentioned in that amazing video clip, and that media is part of the ‘swamp’, and it’s in their interests that a Democrat gets elected.

One of the things that the media swamp pushed was the popular vote meme, and as you might expect, everyone then latched right onto it full bore.

There are a number of sites which detail the election results in the U.S. The one I prefer is at this link, the Politico site, and this is the actual result from that 2016 presidential election.

It shows the main electoral college ‘bar’ across the top and then under that it shows the result in each of the States. Alongside each candidate’s image is the large number of Electoral College Votes they have won, and then, alongside that in tiny greyscale you need to squint to read it shows the total popular votes each candidate received, so 62 million (plus) for Hillary and 61 million (plus) so yes, Hillary did win the popular vote by 1.5 Million. It was a little higher when the dust finally settled but the numbers below still hold as true. Incidentally, add the two totals together, and it was just a 55% turnout of total eligible voters.

So, the actual result decided on that electoral college was dependent upon mainly Florida and a couple of the other States. Long before that result was actually final they had already factored in the Electoral College votes from California, that full blown Democrat State where it was absolutely certain to go the way of Clinton, hence they added those 55 Electoral College votes in really early on in the latter stages of the vote, while still awaiting those closer States.

Now, California is on the West Coast, the last State to have actual votes counted, even though they already factored in those Electoral College votes.

So, before those actual popular votes came in for California, that popular vote showed that Trump was well ahead by more than three million votes on that popular vote total.

California popular vote gave Hillary 7.3 Million votes, and Trump 3.9 Million votes, (scroll down a little and you can see those results) so, effectively two votes for Hillary for every one for Trump. That lifted Hillary slightly higher than Trump on the overall popular vote.

So, the media says it’s time to change the system so the popular vote wins. Look just at two States, California and New York, both (always, except a couple of outliers across the years) solid Democrat. Total for Hillary in those two States 11.5 Million against total for Trump 6.5 Million.

A Democrat will always win handsomely on the popular vote, just using those two States alone.

So, have a popular vote result, and that effectively hands control of the whole U.S. voting total to those two States alone, and the other 50 States can just talk amongst themselves.

THAT is why the media wants change to the popular vote, so their Democrat ‘friends’ can win every time.

Okay then, last thing now, scroll down and look at the result for District of Columbia. (Washington DC, seat of Government) Hillary 92.8% of the vote, and Trump 4.1%. Twenty three to one in favour of Hillary. The Swamp votes for itself every time.

Keep that Politico site bookmarked for November. It’s the best site for results I have seen, updated every ten seconds or so, it seems. Just brilliant. And individual results are on that second menu bar from the top, just under the red Politico Header.

    Tony.

The US presidential vote is somewhat like the World Series of Baseball (not world, I know).
      Consider the 1960s series.
The Yankees scored 55 runs, the most runs scored by any one team in World Series history, and more than twice as many as the Pirates, who scored 27.
The Pirates became the World Champions.
Games and elections have rules. If participating, one should know the rules.

The funny thing about NY and CA is that there are pockets of conservatives. Once you get out of NYC, most of the state is red (Republican):

      https://www.politico.com/2016-election/results/map/president/new-york/

Check out the map. Up state NY is completely different to NYC. Up Staters hate NYC because they drain (the relatively high) state taxes into their projects. Up Staters tend to be Republican as well, which is another reason for the divide.

There is also quite a bit of a divide in CA, but not as stark as NY:

      https://www.politico.com/2016-election/results/map/president/california/

It’s the inner city types that tend to be the bluest.

If you look at a county map of California, by far the majority of counties voted for Trump. Clinton won all the big cities though and thus won the State. A lot of California country areas are supporting Trump, but he will never win the State, I fear.

I don’t think it has ever been more up there for everyone to see-that Democrat States are disastrously-governed on all counts…costing lives and livelihoods….especially California and New York…so if voters behave rationally…and that’s a huge ‘if’…that realization might help Trump.

It would seem almost impossible to shift New York and/or California…but maybe some of the more intelligent smaller states are a chance.

A Democrat win would be a huge danger to the whole world IMO….and to us especially.

The world was a much less dangerous place last time the nutcases won …and even then they were a bit more rational than this lot….before woke.

I would suggest the only person standing against the tide of the non science called Climate Change is President Trump. Boris is a Green. Merkel is Green. Macron is Green. And Morrison may as well be. The only one to stand up to the hand puppet they call Greta was Trump. And the only ones to stand up to President Xi are Trump and Morrison. As China takes absolute control of Hong Kong and openly threatens Taiwan and quietly backs North Korea, we only have Trump to defend us against two nuclear missile armed countries. You can forget our diesel submarines.

And the Democrats prevent any alliance or constructive conversation between the US and Russia, so we have no one else. China under President for life Xi may turn out to be the aggressor it has never been, even under Mao. Especially if Xi’s position is threatened.

The Communist and big business alliance we call the Greens is dominant everywhere. No borders, windmills, world government by the UN and the failure of WHO to warn the world about the pandemic is just a sign of what happens when you politicise science and medicine. The UN also wants to rule the world, with American money.

We need Donald Trump. America needs Donald Trump. And the people trying to tear him down are the same Extreme socialist/Green/big business alliance which utterly dominates the Democrats. Fake news, fake science, fake medicine, fake electricity. Even Michael Moore can see it and he is as Left as they come.

          Bill…

There’s almost no science that’s not corrupted by politics now…that’s the whole problem….the Left even announced that in the era of CAGW science has morphed into ‘post-normal science’…which is in reality Social Science…where ‘scientists must recognise the social limits of their truth-seeking’…and bring their own values and prejudices to it.

The advent of Social Science changed everything…so we now have the two most vital disciplines…science and law…corrupted by the Left’s penchant for subjectivity…we saw it in the two judges who pretty much said they decided a recent case according to the vibe and the Bolt case where the judge decided on his own ‘reading between the lines’.

We used to trust scientists completely… but now…especially in the climate field we can’t trust them at face value at all…the whole field is built on lies and new lies are propagated daily to prop up the original ones.

If a blog doesn’t acknowledge that climate science….education and Australian security in general and many other issues have become politicized…and largely captured by the Left…I simply don’t trust that blog…because it’s not facing reality.

If you can’t see that a Trump win in November vs a win for Biden and AOC’s Green New Deal which would gut America…would see the US joining the Paris madness..the US along with Australia and all the democracies forced to transfer technology to the Communist Chinese dictatorship because it’s a poor little ‘developing’ nation under the UNIPCC criteria…all of the democracies forced to pay billions every year to the Global Socialists for wealth redistribution to the Socialist failed states run by kleptocrats with Swiss bank accounts…to allow them to ‘leapfrog'[ their term] over the democracies…if you don’t see that hard-wired connection between science and politics…then you are not being real.

          Evidence Please:

You obviously watch CNN FAKE NEWS or one of the other US HATE networks…fakery the mechanism of which CNN whistleblowers themselves outed a few times so that even the most gullible don’t have to work it out for themselves..or maybe you watch the censored ‘news’ from the US that we get on SKY DAYTIME and ABC…from which they have studiously extracted everything but CNN Trump hatred.

The savagery of Left wing television journalists’ evisceration of Trump for the Socialist cause is an assault on democracy the like of which has never been seen on television news programs in the history of television.

That you claim not to recognise the vicious dishonesty of CNN…displays a perception problem …or just plain old LW mindless bias.

The mob rule we see on the streets of America now is a direct result of the Left’s relentless barrage of lies and propaganda flogged to a generation-or two of Americans in the schools…universities and on television…and here in Australia we have our own version of that Long March of the LEFT.

No other POTUS has ever been subjected to the relentless attack that Trump has endured from the day he was elected and before …with laws broken in the process by many in the Deep State….with malice.

Biden and the Democrats promise full-on Socialism…open borders…open slather for the corruption they’re noted for and for China’s theft of IP from the West….and misappropriation of the South China Sea…and possibly Taiwan and Hong Kong…overall the massive weakening of the US and the democratic world that was begun by Obama and Hillary.

If America’s crippled…China will fill the vacuum.

Nothing could be more dangerous for Australia…..IMO…so I agree with TdeF 100%.

It was in WW1 and WW2. The creation of a United Nations to act as a forum to stop another world war has been reversed. It is now the oppressor planning the collapse of democracies. The same with the Common Market, an echo of the amazing Hanseatic League which made Europe rich but the European Council and now the European Union are undemocratic socialist states imposing their laws across Europe. Like China and the UN, the EU promoted the open borders which have been responsible for so much misery and so many deaths this year. They even presume to lecture the Americans on closing their own borders to the pandemic.

In WW2 we learned we could not rely on Britain for our defence. General McArthur was based in the Park opposite, fighting a rear defence and prepared to concede a Japanese invasion of Queensland. It it wasn’t for the Americans we would be speaking Japanese and the British would be speaking German, like the Russians.

We cheered the election of Donald Trump and we have watched aghast at the attempts to bring him down, even neglecting the running of the country. The Democrats were busy impeaching Trump even while he was having emergency meetings about how to handle the pandemic.

We Australians have an extreme self interest in US politics and the survival of Donald Trump against the destruction of US borders and military power. And it is not because he is a conservative but because he is the only one in recent history who cares at all. Obama came to Australia and told us plainly we were destroying the Great Barrier Reef with our coal based electricity. Total rubbish, as confirmed by reef Physicist Peter Ridd who was fired just for telling the truth.

It’s all tied together. Truth, Defence, freedom, the UN, EU, WHO, IMF, the Koch brothers, Green energy, windmills, solar panels and the whole socialist communist scam.

And China is openly fomenting all the trouble with its new found riches and openly stolen technology, which is why even Britain now is revising its view on Huawei 5G. After losing 1,000 people a day in most European countries, everyone is viewing China differently and only Donald Trump and our Morrison stood up to President Xi. The recent threat to withhold medical supplies made in China even by US companies should have been a clarion call. It was past immoral, a sign that no threat is off the table.

Even Congressional Speaker Nancy Pelosi went to China town in her electorate of San Francisco to prove there was no danger at all from the virus and that President Trump was Xenophobic in closing the borders. And Presidential Candidate Biden still insists China is not an economic or military threat to anyone and that again Trump is an extreme Xenophobe. And Anti Semitic. Really?

It’s all the same story. With all the same players. Global Warming, open borders, fake news, fake Green energy, fake democracy, fake science. That is the theme in Jo’s posts.

At least Trump is a fighter instead of being part and parcel of the intentional denuding of the citizenry.

The thing about President Trump is that he says ….. well, whatever he wants to say.

He says ….. HIS mind about what he thinks about climate change, Paris, renewable power, and that this whole global warming thing.

ALL of the other World leaders tiptoe around it, and say ….. what they think that the public wants to hear them say about it, the populist opinion, what they think will garner them the most votes at the next election, because after all, that’s the ONLY thing they want, to be re-elected.

            Think about it.

They are actually IN POWER. If they were to really want to do the right thing, like to actually BELIEVE what they are told by the Scientists (the ones that they tell us that they place so much faith in) about climate change, that it is caused by the emissions of CO2, that it is leading to an outright Worldwide catastrophe, then they ….. HAVE THAT POWER to believe , and to just close down those coal fired power plants and to STOP those emissions, to ban internal combustion vehicles, and to implement measures to STOP those CO2 emissions.

            Do they believe?

Well, have they closed down those plants, banned IC vehicles, stopped those emissions?

No, not one of them, anywhere.

            You see, they know.

They’re told ….. flat out, that they CANNOT do that. It would be absolute political su1c1de. Instead, their advisors tell them they can ….. ‘SAY’ those things, but never actually do them.

Tell them what they want to hear. Bread and circuses!

Trump couldn’t care what they think of him. He’ll say whatever he wants to say.

THAT is what infuriates the media.

And speaking of Peter Ridd, here is the latest update:

          TODAY by Peter Ridd, Organizer

The Federal court appeal hearing is over and the lawyers have done their work. We now wait, possibly for some months, for the three judges to make the decision. In essence the appeal was about defining the limits of academic freedom, and what a university scientist can say, and how he or she might be allowed to say it. For example, was I allowed to say that due to systemic lack of quality assurance, scientific results from Great Barrier Reef science institutions was untrustworthy? JCU said I was not even if I believed it to be true. I am certainly not ashamed of anything I said, how I said it, or of my motivation

Irrespective of the outcome of the appeal, I can now focus on other matters.

First, I will work tirelessly to raise the problem of hopeless quality assurance of the science of the GBR, including the effect of climate change on the reef. I am hoping that the Senate Inquiry will come out of Covid hibernation soon. I will also be pushing AIMS to release their missing 15 years of coral growth data, and JCU to release its buried report on possible fraud at its coral reef centre. It is shameful the contempt with which these institutions treat the people of the region.

Second, I will work with those agricultural organisations that show a determination to fight, which is sadly far from all of them, to demonstrate that the recent unfair regulations on Queensland farmers are based on shoddy science.

Third: I will work to encourage governments at both state and federal level to force universities to behave like genuine universities and not the glossy public relations companies that they have become. Governments must mandate the introduction of genuine and enforceable guidelines on academic freedom such as those outlined in the Commonwealth governments (unimplemented) review by ex-High Court judge, Robert French.

          Thanks again for your support

It’s a bit bizarre and absurd of you to try and read my mind and tell folks here what my purpose it.
          NOT SCIENTIFIC AT ALL.

Now, this discussion raises real issues about the purpose of the blog.
My understanding has been for the past 2 years that it was about exploring and discussing scientific issues and how they impact society.
          Eg Global warming ‘science’
The BOM’s ‘sciency’ way of propagandising about rising temperatures
The JCU’s sciency way of propagandising about the Great Barrier Reef being utterly destroyed
The bizarre ‘science’ of ‘renewable’ ruinable power generation
The bizarre ‘sciencey’ of managing our bushlands so that major catastrophic fires are guaranteed.
          Etc. Etc.

Real science is why we are ( or have been ) a great civilisation.
Making sure that our civilisation continues to have great and productive science seems a great purpose to me.

But debating or enumerating the great merits of President Trump ?
          Ummmm ?

If we look at the Big Green coalition, which includes many scientists in the swamps and in academia as the medieval religion it is, then Trump’s battle against this unholy marriage between church and state is vitally important to the future of science.

      Bill,

All science is at risk in the US election this November. Trump and the Republicans listen to science and makes logical judgments based on what that science is actually saying, or not, which in the case of the China virus was changing day by day. Biden and his comrades (Democrats no longer applies) claim to listen to the science, and perhaps they do, which is why they always seem to want what the science ends up precluding and as a result must come up with preposterous rationalizations that many accept on political faith alone because they’re otherwise clueless about the actual science.

It’s the looting that’s coordinated with the rioting that’s coordinated with the protesting. It’s sad how many useful idiot protesters there were providing cover for the rioting and looting, even to the extent of surrounding those throwing bricks and molotov cocktails to sheild them from being apprehended by the police, emboldening others with criminal intent. Of course, so much of this is on video and social media, many will eventually be found and prosecuted, especially those bragging on social media about what they got away with. But then again, criminals as a group are not very smart …

There’s little doubt to me that the hardships of the China virus response combined with race baiting has amplified this situation which is no longer about a black man caught in a criminal act who then accidentally died through the use of unnecessary excessive force by a white cop. Sure, this cop was a bad guy, few on either side disagree and he deserves to spend time in jail, but so do the anarchists precipitating the riots and the arsonists and looters taking advantage of the chaos. Every day, criminals use violently excessive force with the express intent to k ill, for example, the FBI agent who was shot in SF last night, yet nobody’s up in arms about that.

The Cruise ship model emphasises hiring as many crew as possible
From poorer countries. who are willing to work for low pay.
And that of course means with health standards where TB is still endemic.

There is a major policy awaiting the Commonwealth government when the international borders are re-opened :
Whether to allow the cruise industry to re-start again in Australia,
And if so, under what conditions ?

The best argument for Trump to get re-elected is because he has now WITHDRAWN funding from the World Health Organisation. The sight of Tedros makes me ill.

That is the best thing he has done this year amongst some dopey other things. Including his now removed tweet “when the looting starts, the shooting starts”. Not the best way to calm a race riot.

Tension between US and China is at a low ebb. I wonder which way Dan will go with his BRI initiative? China has a large number of small countries (and Victoria) beholding to them. Is it enough to offset the angst over the virus the world did not need and could have easily avoided if China cared for anyone but themselves?

Hard to avoid buying stuff made in China but it will be my little protest whenever I have the choice. China needs to know that they are loathed worldwide for their complete lack of care.

The letter to Tedros suspending contributions is dated May 18 and gives thirty days notice before making the halt permanent; that the notice has been truncated suggests Tedros’s gang had no interest in the “major substantive improvements” adverted to in the last paragraph.

    Establishment science is a Swamp

I have to agree with that statement. Yet Trump appears to be the only world leader following that theme. The latest news on the WHO is very relevant to all that. Needless to say our PM doesn’t have the courage to follow Trump and stop funding the WHO. Instead he’s still proudly telling us how we should continue to reduce our emissions. OK, PM Morrison. If you are really serious about reducing our emissions to be a good world citizen, whatever that means today, then let’s go nuclear. Otherwise, PM you are a phoney like most other politicians.

The South China Morning Post is based in Hong Kong. Usually it provides a reasonable view of the USA.
But I guess given the circumstances which Hong Kong people find themselves in, they do have to give some voice to the CCP just over the non existent border. Here is an interesting example of that taking place. My guess is that Trump is not on Yonden Lhatoo’s best friends list.

How rich was Trump? And how rich is he now? If we cannot answer those questions, it is impossible to say that Trump won’t leave the office any richer. There are certainly ways to use your position as US president to enrich yourself besides earning a salary.

If his tax returns were published, these questions would be easier to answer. The real headline is that Donald Trump is the first US presidential candidate since 1976 not to publish his tax returns (despite promising to).
