The Party of Tolerance created the toxic hate-fest of Trump voters with righteous indignation, degradation and humiliation. Everyone got the message.

One US leader is the obvious choice for border control, but it’s not even on the agenda.
There may be a silent Covid vote too.
I never reveal my voting intentions or actual vote to those who are running surveys or campaigning for a candidate.
I simply remind them of our right to a secret ballot and everyone seems to respect that and stop bugging me.

Same here Mike and just to expand on that if I may. In Australia (and doubtless elsewhere) the older generations were brought up on the advice to never talk publicly about politics or religion. I suspect there is still a strong contingent who adhere to that advice. Unsolicited phone calls from people asking how much was your last electricity bill or are you the home owner are seen by many as an invasion of privacy. Probably very similar to when asked about voting intentions.
Upon attending a polling place, many people will accept how to vote cards from all parties or none at all. Obviously unwilling to signal their intentions publicly.
IMO polling is not much more than an educated guess.

Some years back I remember reading about a UK politician who had correctly warned on the Nazis, Stalin and the Iron Curtain. The interviewer seemed amazed and asked him how he had done it. He said “all I did was listen to what they were saying and take note of what they were doing”. Here we are in the same situation. If one applies the same logic with the Democrats we see the crime waves and lawlessness as the defund the police caravan is starting, we see the censorship of Big Tech, we see a mad desire to destroy the fossil fuel industry with no substitute and various other warning signs.
The Democrats cannot be compared to past administrations. In circles like University staff, there are officially few or zero Republicans. People learn to say they vote Democrat, if they want their jobs. There are other professions like the law where you have to keep quiet. The intimidation is real. You have to speak in whispers in some areas because the adverse reaction if you support Trump is real. There are 50 discrete battles to be won. So to claim a standard deviation in normal distribution of a single random variable of 3.162% as absolute accuracy is as fake as Climate Change. And the idea of the ‘silent’ voter has merit, along with the idea that polling is rubbish, even the results may be fake. Homogenized.

When I worked within the Australian government-funded research sector, the very same situation existed. I did not feel that my job would be under direct threat because I held conservative views, but for sure you could very quickly become a social leper and shunned, which in turn would make advancement unlikely.
Also, whereas I and other conservatives would be reticent to enter political discussions, my colleagues of a leftist persuasion clearly felt no such inhibitions and would frequently throw politics into the mix – usually using climate change or, while he was PM, by exhibiting symptoms of Abbott Derangement Syndrome.

I’m seriously looking forward to the talking heads on the ABC and SBS back-pedalling like mad as the “Blue Wave” fails to materialise and, all things going fairly, Trump wins.
BTW, the ABC just reported on an investigation into mail in vote fraud for the Moreland council elections (an inner Melbourne council). If it can happen here, imagine the prospects in the US election.

When I was younger Richmond (in Melbourne) had a reputation as the place where the dead rose and voted (to the benefit of one Labour Federal MHR).
Australia’s satisfaction with its current voting system is over rated. The safeguards have been steadily removed by both parties, and very soon we will all be expected to vote over the internet, but then I still think the best system was a ink stamp on the back of the hand of the voter. (Dye faded after a few days). I am sure someone would try to get around that but it is difficult to counterfeit hands.

In the same vein, this pro-Trump message is from 2016 and from the arch-lefty Michael Moore no less, but it resonates even more strongly now that folks have had time to see what Trump has achieved despite the enemies arrayed against him.
