Rasmussen: Among voters who strongly approve of Biden’s job performance, 55% say they’ll watch either all or most of Trump’s Senate trial on TV. Only 22% of those who strongly disapprove of Biden’s performance as president expect to watch either all or most of Trump’s trial.

In a rather stunning and head-scratchingly self-serving and hyprocritical moment, Leader McConnell spoke after the Senate acquitted former President Trump and threw him back under the bus while covering his own political ass.
McConnell also suggests that Trump can still be held to account in a court of law:
“President Trump is still liable for everything he did while he’s in office. He didn’t get away with anything yet.”
“We have a criminal justice system in this country. We have civil litigation. And former presidents are not immune from being accountable by either one.”

In Must-Watch Clip, Trump Attorney “Michael van der Veen, Citizen” Destroys Media
Saturday night President Trump’s attorney Michael van der Veen appeared on CBS News and was asked about Sen. Mitch McConnell’s comments after Trump’s acquittal. As Bonchie covered earlier, McConnell said that “President Trump is practically and morally responsible for provoking the events of the day,” and that Trump is “still liable for everything he did during his period in office.”
When he was specifically asked whether he was surprised to hear such a serious rebuke from the leader of the Republican party in the Senate, van der Veen’s expression, tone, and words said it all.

Trump thanked his counsel and then he lit into the Democrats.
It is a sad commentary on our times that one political party in America is given a free pass to denigrate the rule of law, defame law enforcement, cheer mobs, excuse rioters, and transform justice into a tool of political vengeance, and persecute, blacklist, cancel and suppress all people and viewpoints with whom or which they disagree. I always have, and always will, be a champion for the unwavering rule of law, the heroes of law enforcement, and the right of Americans to peacefully and honorably debate the issues of the day without malice and without hate.
This has been yet another phase of the greatest witch hunt in the history of our Country. That any Republicans took this impeachment show seriously is sad. They should have all ignored it for the low-rent sham it was. Trump was a truly great President; history will bear that out in the end. Biden is doing nothing but undoing all the good Trump got started. The same goes for Kevin McCarthy and a slew of other traitors in the House. That McCarthy chose to support Liz Cheney after her thoroughly outrageously disingenuous statement blaming Trump for the January 6 breach of the Capitol is a window into his lack of loyalty.
Like Lindsey Graham in the Senate, McCarthy likes to walk the dotted line, see which way the wind is blowing. Like Graham, he gets it wrong sometimes, like this time. Sure, Graham voted the right way while at the same time pushing the self-serving Nikki Haley on donors. Most conservatives figured out long ago that she does not support their America first values. Now she has proven it by trashing Trump the day before the impeachment vote. How did Graham get this so wrong? Perhaps he has put his finger in the wind so often he can no longer discern which way it is blowing.
Their constant reference to our Constitution is a joke; they have no reverence for our founding document, none at all. Those seven treasonous faux Republicans voted with the pro-violence, anti-law-enforcement crowd. President Trump, as everyone knows well, was and remains a fervent supporter of our police while the left was calling for their defunding if not their dissolution. It is safe to say that the 75 – 80m Trump supporters now have as much contempt for those seven collaborators as they do for the Biden administration as it so diligently works to undo all the good Trump accomplished in four short years. They are all of a piece with the left, one that is elitist at its core without a shred of concern for the American people.

However, he later accused Trump of being responsible for the events at the Capitol on January 6. By doing so, McConnell, rather than indicting Trump, only revealed his own narcissistic duplicity.
Mitch McConnell is speaking for a corrupt institution – the Deep State. What he’s saying is that it’s impossible that the Deep State and its actors across America committed a massive fraud that allowed a stupid, corrupt, senile, and radical old man who never left his basement to prevail in an election against a president who had a 51% approval rating and was able to hold massive rallies during an alleged pandemic. And it’s impossible that corrupt institutions could have changed voting systems to enable tens of thousands of fake ballots to get counted. And it’s impossible that computer voting systems could be hacked to benefit Biden.
Because McConnell’s narcissism makes it impossible for him to concede fault – to concede that the system “punched” Trump first – then any fault must lie with Trump for daring to punch back. In McConnell’s world, Trump should have just sucked up the terrible wrong done to him and to the 75 million (or more) people who voted for him.
When the Deep State that McConnell represents hits you, you don’t hit back. If you hit back, it’s you who are at fault; the system is always innocent.
Through his wife’s family, he has deep financial ties to China – and the biggest beneficiary of Biden’s election is China. Trump’s willingness to exercise his First Amendment speech rights threatened McConnell’s well-being.

Roberts, Jr.) is required to preside over impeachment trials involving only sitting presidents, and so the current impeachment trial of Trump does not require the chief justice to preside over it. That’s funny. It means the trial is illegal anyway since Trump is not the sitting President of the US, and the Constitution is clear the impeachment process involves the sitting POTUS, not any President. It means Trump has to be re-instated as the POTUS and Biden pulled out before the impeachment trial can proceed.
Also, the Constitution requires a two-thirds vote of the Senate impeach the POTUS, and the penalty for an impeached official upon conviction is removal from office. So, are we to see even more Republicans turn against Trump? Are they willing to sacrifice their careers that much? Not very likely. Or as one has already suggested they dispense with that part of the Constitution too and rely on a new rule, such as a majority cote is required to impeach? Now that ought to get people angry enough to stop putting up with all this nonsense once and for all.
Also, how does one carry out the punishment of removing said person from office when Trump is no longer in office? It would be like a trial convicting a person of exceeding the speed limit in the past when they did have a drivers licence but now that person no longer holds a drivers licence nor drives a car due to being too old and incapacitated in an age care facility. So, why bother? Of course, we know the real reason for the impeachment. To prevent Trump ever becoming POTUS again.
So, Trump must know all this and is perhaps just playing along hoping it will fail anyway due to the requirement of two-thirds vote of the Senate. It also could mean Trump wants the trial to go ahead and fail to re-enforce the fact that the Democrats are the bad guys and thus make it even easier for him to try and win the next Presidential election under a new party. He never did like the Republican Party anyway since so many hated him, and still do.

The example they cite is of William W. Belknap who resigned (and his resignation was accepted by then President Grant, in 1876) to avoid an impeachment.

But thats just the point. Trump is legally the sitting President, being as he was subjected to a coup, or a colour revolution. None of us has a crystal ball … the degree to which Trumpism continues after Trump – well – no-one can really say where that will go. I think it’s reasonable to surmise that his brand has been badly damaged by the storming of the US Capitol – perhaps not among the 40-45% MAGA, but he needs a fair bit more than that.

Were Senate Democrats ‘rolled’ by impeachment managers on call for witnesses?
Some Senate Democrats Friday said that they did not support subpoenaing witnesses and extending former President Donald Trump’s impeachment trial beyond Saturday, yet all 50 Democrats voted in favor of Rep. Jamie Raskin’s surprise call to summon a GOP witness and her notes regarding a call between Trump and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy.
The Senate trial will now continue indefinitely instead of wrapping up Saturday with an acquittal.
A source familiar with a 9 a.m. conference call between Senate Democrats and House Democratic impeachment managers said Majority Leader Chuck Schumer “argued hard against witnesses.”
Schumer’s spokesman denied the claim.
“That’s not true,” spokesman Justin Goodman told the Washington Examiner. Goodman pointed to interviews and public statements by the New York Democrat expressing support for witnesses if managers wanted to call them.
Raskin, a Maryland Democrat and the lead impeachment manager, opened the impeachment trial on Saturday by asking senators to vote to subpoena Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, a Republican from Washington state who disclosed a conversation between Trump and McCarthy that took place during the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol.
The vote to call witnesses passed 55-45 and included five Republicans.
The vote threw the trial into chaos, and rather than concluding Saturday, it could go on indefinitely. Senate Democratic leaders had hoped to wrap up the trial quickly in order to move key Democratic agenda items, including a major coronavirus relief package.

Yeah I can see how the ABC would still have a valuable role in the countryside. I remember when they were still reasonably sane. Now they are as much of a disinformation format as CNN or NBC. The countryside? Remote and Rural Australia is in general very difficult to describe as “countryside” – it is not like the sculptured green fields of Buckinghamshire, or even the rolling hills of sheep country around Goulburn.
It is hard, harsh, punishing, hot, dusty, dry, flat, and mostly empty – and did I mention hot? People out there have to be really really tough, perhaps a bit insane, and deeply committed to not aspiring to the life that cities can provide.
They are a very different breed. I was not like that – I was a city slicker who had to learn a lot of stuff fairly quickly, and it was hugely absorbing.
The ABC has (or had) a very special and important role in the lives of these people (especially the women, I reckon) – and not just for weather reports and livestock or grain prices.
ABC Regional stations are hugely important as community resources – being able to deliver a great deal in remote environments where commercial TV and Radio simply could not survive financially – and I think that has become even worse over the last two decades as online services have reached the bush.
Anyway – I’m not here to defend the ABC or SBS – I love them both very much, and thank goodness I live in a society and culture that is willing to support such long-standing institutions.
If you think they’re hotbeds of lefty activism, I think that is a misreading of how they function, where they draw staff from, and what their role is. I think a lot of people mistake their “balance” and neutrality for leftism.
Having said that – to get a job at the ABC you have to be intelligent, well-educated and broad-minded … and such people tend to have centre-left and lefty views.

The Deep State seldom does anything for one reason only. Just as if you need some butter, you will wind up getting a bunch of other things while you are at the shop. And in fact the Deep State needs to bury all their motives under the disguise that blowing smoke can bring. Some folks say that where there is smoke there is fire. But Bobby said that where there is smoke there is some fellow operating the smoke machine.
The first time the impeachment was about doubling down on a process by which the corrupt Democrats had to project all their corruption and faults onto Trump. So they said that Trump was a puppet of the Russians, whereas we know that various Democrats had profiteered in fissionable materials to the Russians, had wet their beak in the Ukraine after conducting a terrorist based colour revolution there, and that they were also sucking on the teat of the CCP. If Trump had a notion to get in on the act, and claim some of the revenue for himself, the reality is that he was a latecomer to town, and therefore pretty clean. His business opportunities were limited since he had showed up in town with an anti-CCP agenda. So he hadn’t been corrupted or at least not in the same ways and by the same people as the Democrats.
The next thing is whether you have pushed two of the three hypotheses to do with the virus aside. Or even if you have been more patient than me, and are still holding the three major hypotheses in parallel … It remains the case that its pretty good to have a massive media distraction when you are conducting biowarfare terrorist attacks. People who criticise THE PRESIDENTS (here I use capitals advisedly) performance with regards to the virus ….. I want you to put yourself in his place. Because he had to put up with this extreme legal jeopardy, and recover mentally and morale-wise from this insane hate campaign .. Thats a good way to wrong-foot the President from the problems to hand. But even so he seemed to broadly make pretty good decisions and he got it right with HCQ and a lot of other things.
So it makes me think that the American system can work. But only if it really is the American system and not some American Pravda Banskster-Paradise.

Now that Trump has been acquitted, the next order of business is for the actual POTUS Biden to be impeached due to the stolen election.

The reason I say that is Section 3 of the 14th Amendment says no-one can hold office if they’ve engaged in “insurrection or rebellion” against the United States. It can be argued with much evidence the Democrats lead by Biden did just that. So, an impeachment trial against Biden would be in order, certainly more so than the failed witch hunt perpetrated by the Democrats against Trump.

Sometimes I think statements of this sort leave the enquiry in limbo. Like for example if six months ago, someone said “I think that Fauci has some questions to answer for?” Is that not an attempt to deep six some of the data in order to prejudice one hypothesis over another?
We need to have an hypothesis to explain the data. Not excluding the data to do with the behaviour of Pence. No data to be arbitrarily excluded. I see the Pence behaviour as quite normal and according to Hoyles: If we contend a Byzantine environment where assassination is inhaled and exhaled and they all breath the same air. Where the kind of cabin fever that we feel in Othello is the norm.
We just can’t push the Pence behaviour aside. Or that job that some dumb leftist lost for making a casual remark about Pence. The first time the deep state had stuck up for a Christian conservative on Twitter and they went and took it all the way by relieving a formerly immune left doofus of his employment revenue.
All data is relevant. Even the data where someone tries to show a poisoning plot that Pence isn’t happy about, but that he knows about just the same.

A complication to consider:
President-in-Exile Trump really is the legally elected President if the fraudulent votes are discounted….
So, as baseless as the false claims against him for impeachment are, he might really be impeachable….
On the other hand, he is not actually recognised as the legal President so it won’t matter anyway…

He is not the President, not an officer of the government. Whether he should be still the President or not. That will have to be established in a Court of Law and that is unlikely. Whether the election was stolen is now a moot point. Biden is the new President.
Yes, history will show it was stolen and that Obama was born in Kenya, but that does not matter any more than whether Hitler was Austrian and Stalin was Georgian. And Man of Steel was not his real name. That is a comic book character. And you can be quite sure that all evidence of the theft of the election will have been comprehensively destroyed. There were thousands of witnesses but it’s all over.
Removing someone from office in retrospect is part of the ongoing hatred of Trump and using the entire of Congress and the Senate to try to do it is borderline insane hatred. And this is the second time in just two years. You would think the government of the United States had more important work to do, but perhaps not.
And still Bette Middler is not happy. Nor Cher nor Barbra Streisand. You have to wonder why these near geriatric singers get front page opinions on politics, but that’s the entertainment business. In a world of its own. The biggest worry Biden has is transgender athletes rights and respect for transgender soldiers who are the backbone of the military apparently.

I remember the late Kerry Packer fronting a Federal Senate Committee hearing questioning his personal tax record, they alleged that based on the taxable income of the businesses in his portfolio he was not paying enough income tax. The Senators even got mixed up about what is revenue and what is taxable profit.
Mr Packer embarrassed them with his responses including reminding the Senators that tax minimisation is legal (as compared to tax avoidance) and his income is always correctly assessed, in other words the income he chooses to pay himself from dividends paid into his family trust from businesses the trust has invested in.
President Trump would be in a similar position, maybe asset rich but cash poor for the purpose of personal income tax liability.

He does seem okay. He may be a little bit TOO effective because he’s getting the killer vaccine out there too well. But the thing is he’s not extraordinary. He’s not necessarily going to show up in Washington with the idea that this is enemy occupied territory. The rumour is that Florida actually runs fair elections? What a novel idea?? That would be something amazing if true. I think that the idea is to support third parties until and unless you get someone who is at war with the status quo. This is no time to be harsh on welfare spending. But you’ve got to have someone who wants to close down government departments, kick out any Israeli interlopers, re-establish a reserve asset ratio, trash the Federal Reserve and replace it with a currency board. If you are not wanting to get rid of these Federal Reserve blood-suckers you aren’t being serious.
When the President In Exile first arrived in Washington he’d be boasting about the stock market and talking about tax cuts. I would tweet back that only sissies talk about tax cuts. Real men get rid of government departments by the bakers dozen. He never replied of course. He was able to revive the economy on re-regulation, with a view to less regulations and less onerous regulations. Thats a fantastic achievement. Not even Reagan could manage that. Also the President-In-Exile managed to create a lot of jobs just by ringing up CEO’s and subjecting them to moral suasion. Really impressive. But in the end you need to be able to slim down the government to defence, transfer payments, and infrastructure. We don’t need everyone and their Momma having a high-paying job in the public service doing jobs outside those three broad tasks. So for me the President-In-Exile was like a martial arts expert beating up six people with one of his arms behind his back. Impressive to watch but not powerfully effective for the longer run.
