Most people watching the impeachment will be Democrats

According to a Rasmussen survey the people who say they will watch the whole impeachment  proceedings are much more likely to be Biden voters.

Rasmussen:  Among voters who strongly approve of Biden’s job performance, 55% say they’ll watch either all or most of Trump’s Senate trial on TV. Only 22% of those who strongly disapprove of Biden’s performance as president expect to watch either all or most of Trump’s trial.

Which is probably a good thing as some of this will be new to them.

McConnell Says Trump “Responsible For Provoking” Attack After Voting To Acquit; Trump Says MAGA “Has Just Begun”

In a rather stunning and head-scratchingly self-serving and hyprocritical moment, Leader McConnell spoke after the Senate acquitted former President Trump and threw him back under the bus while covering his own political ass.

McConnell also suggests that Trump can still be held to account in a court of law:

“President Trump is still liable for everything he did while he’s in office. He didn’t get away with anything yet.”

“We have a criminal justice system in this country. We have civil litigation. And former presidents are not immune from being accountable by either one.”

Was this the concession that Democrats demanded in order for them not to call witnesses? Or is this normal Washington gaslighting and the ongoing effort of establishment GOP to “unify” their party AWAY from Trump?

If the latter, judging by the twitter response, it’s having the exact opposite effect:

      – @LeaderMcConnell Mitch your speak today just made Pres, Trump and the New Republican Party even stronger and has gained momentum and popularity! Thank you for being a Traitor showing the American People just how EVIL and CORRUPT you are, the DEM’s are, and the OLD GOP party!

      – @LeaderMcConnell exemplifies the weakness of the Republicans in the US Senate! Time to clean house of these clowns and get true conservatives who will fight this attempted hostile takeover by radical socialist democrats!

      – @DonaldJTrumpJr
If only McConnell was so righteous as the Democrats trampled Trump and the Republicans while pushing Russia collusion bullshit for 3 years or while Dems incited 10 months of violence, arson, and rioting. Yea then he just sat back and did jack shit.

Update (1605ET): Former President Trump has issued the following statement following his Senate acquittal (emphasis ours):

Meanwhile – Biden wants to ‘Make America California Again?’

The left’s California dream is a nightmare

In the latest example of the disconnect between the elite left and real Americans, a January headline in the Los Angeles Times read: “Make America California Again? That’s Biden’s Plan.”

According to the newspaper, “California is emerging as the de facto policy think tank of the Biden-Harris administration and of a congress soon to be under Democratic control.”

The influence that California has on the elite left in Washington is profound. As the Los Angeles Times wrote, “There is no place the incoming administration is leaning on more heavily for inspiration in setting a progressive policy agenda.”

It is nothing short of delusional to look to California as a model for the United States. How could the California model of progressive, big-government, high-tax politics work for America, when it is not even working for Californians?

Trump Lawyer Van Der Veen: ‘We Demolished Their Case — They Were Like a Dying Animal That We Had Trapped in the Corner’

During an appearance on FNC’s “America’s News HQ” following former President Donald Trump’s impeachment trial acquittal Trump’s defense attorney Michael Van Der Veen reacted to the U.S. Senate’s verdict, describing the events of the day before as being pivotal in his client’s victory.

“Nothing really surprised me,” he said. “What had happened was the day before, we demolished their case, and they were like a dying animal that we had trapped in the corner. And so, this morning, their last gaps were swinging out at us trying to save their case, and it didn’t work. So we were kind of expecting them to pull on something.”

“There was a stipulation the night before,” Van Der Veen continued. “They pulled it out from under the rug at about ten minutes before we walked into the Senate chamber this morning. We’re, you know, we’re trial lawyers. We’re used to taking anything that comes our way. And we shift, pivot, adjust and move forward. And that’s exactly what we did.”

Van Der Veen would not discuss Trump’s reaction but only offered that Trump had “a good day in court.”

“I would assume that that is what he’s doing,” he said. “He had a good day in court today. He was vindicated. He was found not guilty. The political witch hunt that they had that the Democrats had thrown at him was defeated, so he should feel quite pleased.

In Must-Watch Clip, Trump Attorney “Michael van der Veen, Citizen” Destroys Media

Saturday night President Trump’s attorney Michael van der Veen appeared on CBS News and was asked about Sen. Mitch McConnell’s comments after Trump’s acquittal. As Bonchie covered earlier, McConnell said that “President Trump is practically and morally responsible for provoking the events of the day,” and that Trump is “still liable for everything he did during his period in office.”

When he was specifically asked whether he was surprised to hear such a serious rebuke from the leader of the Republican party in the Senate, van der Veen’s expression, tone, and words said it all.

I’m not surprised to hear a politician say anything at all. No.

Crickets. The CBS News anchor, Lana Zak, wasn’t quite sure what to make of the reply. She decided to move forward and attempt to “gotcha” van der Veen, and it doesn’t go well for her at all. This, like Friday’s supercut of Democrats inciting violence, is a must-watch clip for two reasons: one, it’s rare that someone so articulately calls out the media, and two, it’s rare that the media have a guest they’re afraid to just cut off as they speak “their truth.”

Trump Delivers a Very Trumpian Response to Acquittal, Dem House Managers Left in Tears

Trump thanked his counsel and then he lit into the Democrats.

It is a sad commentary on our times that one political party in America is given a free pass to denigrate the rule of law, defame law enforcement, cheer mobs, excuse rioters, and transform justice into a tool of political vengeance, and persecute, blacklist, cancel and suppress all people and viewpoints with whom or which they disagree. I always have, and always will, be a champion for the unwavering rule of law, the heroes of law enforcement, and the right of Americans to peacefully and honorably debate the issues of the day without malice and without hate.

This has been yet another phase of the greatest witch hunt in the history of our Country. No president has ever gone through anything like it, and it continues because our opponents cannot forget the almost 75 million people, the highest number ever for a sitting president, who voted for us just a few short months ago.

I also want to convey my gratitude to the millions of decent, hardworking, law-abiding, God-and-Country loving citizens who have bravely supported these important principles in these very difficult and challenging times.

Our historic, patriotic and beautiful movement to Make America Great Again has only just begun. In the months ahead I have much to share with you, and I look forward to continuing our incredible journey together to achieve American greatness for all of our people. There has never been anything like it!

We have so much work ahead of us, and soon we will emerge with a vision for a bright, radiant, and limitless American future.

Together there is nothing we cannot accomplish.

We remain one People, one family, and one glorious nation under God, and it’s our responsibility to preserve this magnificent inheritance for our children and for generations of Americans to come.

May God bless all of you, and may God forever bless the United States of America.

The thing that will, of course, give Democrats most pause is our “movement to Make America Great Again has only just begun.” He drops hints of more plans to come and “continuing our incredible journey together.” He didn’t announce he was running again in 2024, that might have given them a coronary on top of everything else they lost today.

But SDNY (The Southern District of New York) is trending on Twitter because liberals on social media are now trying to pin their hopes on federal prosecutions there, or in Georgia or possibly on incitement in a federal case in D.C. They haven’t learned yet: the cases they have tried have all failed because they don’t have the evidence to support them when it’s all a political effort. They just need to take the L and move on. But they wouldn’t because they’re worried, always, about their own power.

        Seven turncoats

That any Republicans took this impeachment show seriously is sad. They should have all ignored it for the low-rent sham it was. Trump was a truly great President; history will bear that out in the end. Biden is doing nothing but undoing all the good Trump got started. Like the rest of the left, Biden hates Trump more than he loves America. He will see it destroyed in order to blame the former president. But it won’t work. The more damage he does, the more the American people miss Trump.

Even though he voted to acquit Trump, the now-we-know-how-odious-he-is Mitch McConnell proceeded to malign him on the floor of the Senate. He too is a turncoat of the worst kind. He paddles along pretending to be on the side of right when all the time he, like Bill Barr, is working to sabotage the most-revered President since Reagan. McConnell knows he was only re-elected on Trump’s coattails but he shows not a bit of gratitude.

The same goes for Kevin McCarthy and a slew of other traitors in the House. That McCarthy chose to support Liz Cheney after her thoroughly outrageously disingenuous statement blaming Trump for the January 6 breach of the Capitol is a window into his lack of loyalty.

Like Lindsey Graham in the Senate, McCarthy likes to walk the dotted line, see which way the wind is blowing. Like Graham, he gets it wrong sometimes, like this time. Sure, Graham voted the right way while at the same time pushing the self-serving Nikki Haley on donors. Most conservatives figured out long ago that she does not support their America first values. Now she has proven it by trashing Trump the day before the impeachment vote. How did Graham get this so wrong? Perhaps he has put his finger in the wind so often he can no longer discern which way it is blowing.

Their constant reference to our Constitution is a joke; they have no reverence for our founding document, none at all. Those seven treasonous faux Republicans voted with the pro-violence, anti-law-enforcement crowd. President Trump, as everyone knows well, was and remains a fervent supporter of our police while the left was calling for their defunding if not their dissolution. It is safe to say that the 75 – 80m Trump supporters now have as much contempt for those seven collaborators as they do for the Biden administration as it so diligently works to undo all the good Trump accomplished in four short years. They are all of a piece with the left, one that is elitist at its core without a shred of concern for the American people.

With Trump’s abortive impeachment, Sen. McConnell goes full narcissist

However, he later accused Trump of being responsible for the events at the Capitol on January 6. By doing so, McConnell, rather than indicting Trump, only revealed his own narcissistic duplicity.

Mitch McConnell is speaking for a corrupt institution – the Deep State. What he’s saying is that it’s impossible that the Deep State and its actors across America committed a massive fraud that allowed a stupid, corrupt, senile, and radical old man who never left his basement to prevail in an election against a president who had a 51% approval rating and was able to hold massive rallies during an alleged pandemic. And it’s impossible that corrupt institutions could have changed voting systems to enable tens of thousands of fake ballots to get counted. And it’s impossible that computer voting systems could be hacked to benefit Biden.

Because McConnell’s narcissism makes it impossible for him to concede fault – to concede that the system “punched” Trump first – then any fault must lie with Trump for daring to punch back. In McConnell’s world, Trump should have just sucked up the terrible wrong done to him and to the 75 million (or more) people who voted for him.

When the Deep State that McConnell represents hits you, you don’t hit back. If you hit back, it’s you who are at fault; the system is always innocent.

Through his wife’s family, he has deep financial ties to China – and the biggest beneficiary of Biden’s election is China. Trump’s willingness to exercise his First Amendment speech rights threatened McConnell’s well-being.

According to Fact Check, the chief justice of the US (currently John G. Roberts, Jr.) is required to preside over impeachment trials involving only sitting presidents, and so the current impeachment trial of Trump does not require the chief justice to preside over it. That’s funny. It means the trial is illegal anyway since Trump is not the sitting President of the US, and the Constitution is clear the impeachment process involves the sitting POTUS, not any President. It means Trump has to be re-instated as the POTUS and Biden pulled out before the impeachment trial can proceed.

Also, the Constitution requires a two-thirds vote of the Senate impeach the POTUS, and the penalty for an impeached official upon conviction is removal from office. So, are we to see even more Republicans turn against Trump? Are they willing to sacrifice their careers that much? Not very likely. Or as one has already suggested they dispense with that part of the Constitution too and rely on a new rule, such as a majority cote is required to impeach? Now that ought to get people angry enough to stop putting up with all this nonsense once and for all.

Also, how does one carry out the punishment of removing said person from office when Trump is no longer in office? It would be like a trial convicting a person of exceeding the speed limit in the past when they did have a drivers licence but now that person no longer holds a drivers licence nor drives a car due to being too old and incapacitated in an age care facility. So, why bother? Of course, we know the real reason for the impeachment. To prevent Trump ever becoming POTUS again.

So, Trump must know all this and is perhaps just playing along hoping it will fail anyway due to the requirement of two-thirds vote of the Senate. It also could mean Trump wants the trial to go ahead and fail to re-enforce the fact that the Democrats are the bad guys and thus make it even easier for him to try and win the next Presidential election under a new party. He never did like the Republican Party anyway since so many hated him, and still do.

The canard (or narrative i.e. story) is that they can impeach, because to do otherwise would allow people to simply resign rather than face an impeachment.

The example they cite is of William W. Belknap who resigned (and his resignation was accepted by then President Grant, in 1876) to avoid an impeachment.

However, it is a poorly applied precedent as Belknap’s term did not naturally expire & in any event Belknap was acquitted because of the Senate’s lack of jurisdiction.

Expect the Democrats to pursue court based action to salve their collective butt-hurt once the shampeachment is over…

“The example they cite is of William W. Belknap who resigned (and his resignation was accepted by then President Grant, in 1876) to avoid an impeachment.”

I think a more recent case would be Richard Nixon who resigned to avoid being impeached. At the time, I don’t remember the Democrats being upset by that outcome though they did not like the fact that Gerald Ford later pardoned him.

But thats just the point. Trump is legally the sitting President, being as he was subjected to a coup, or a colour revolution. What must be understood here is the coup participants have to live in two worlds, at the same time. The media created reality and the real reality. Ultimately the media created reality will prevail in the history books one supposes. Thats the way it goes. But the Senators cannot know that at this point. A lot of them must be pinching themselves that they have gotten this far.

And if the rule of law continues in the US (!?) he cannot be charged with the same offence again.

A Senate majority (including seven Republicans) voted in favour of impeachment but a 2/3 majority was required. Despite Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell voting to acquit Donald Trump, he has just given a speech saying:
“There’s no question, none, that President Trump is practically, and morally, responsible for provoking the events of the day,”

As Van der Veen said in defence, it was astonishing the visceral hatred people (Dems) had for Trump.
Personally, if Obama had to suffer the blatant hatred that Trump took (and I know Obama did get race-hate) the whole thing would have disappeared under racism laws. Trump didn’t have that advantage.

“My Entire Family, My Law Firm, My Home Is Under Siege Right Now” – Trump Attorney Van Der Veen Chokes Up Talking about Vicious Assaults by Democrats (VIDEO)

Trump impeachment attorney Michael van der Veen joined FOX News following the successful acquittal of his client President Donald Trump in the sham Senate Impeachment Trial.

During the discussion FOX News host Griff Jenkins asked him about the reports that his home was attacked.

Democrats painted “Traitor” on the outside of Van Der Veen’s home in Chester County.

More – Lawyer says his home, family ‘under siege’ as retaliation for representing Trump in trial

Michael van der Veen, one of the lawyers who defended former President Donald Trump successfully in the Senate impeachment trial, said after the verdict Saturday that his family, home and law practice are “under siege” due to his representation of Mr. Trump.

“My home was attacked. I’d rather not go into it because it would encourage other people to do it more, but you know, I’ve had nearly 100 death threats,” he told reporters. “My home was attacked last night — windows broken, spray paint, really bad words spray-painted everywhere.”

Among the vandalism, someone spray-painted the word “traitor” on the driveway of his Philadelphia home.

Mr. van der Veen said he is “not a controversial guy.”

“I’m not politically minded, so to speak,” he said. “I’m a trial lawyer and I represent people’s interests in court. That’s what I do. I love doing it. And I’m disappointed that [vandalism] is the result of just me doing my job.”

He touted the acquittal as a major victory, but said it is time for the country to heal.

“I really wish this country would come into the middle,” Mr. van der Veen told Fox News.

He said of the former president, “The political witch hunt that the Democrats had thrown at him was defeated, so he should feel quite pleased.”

Trump has just been “acquitted” by the Senate … no surprises there. Still the vote was 57-43 – so no glory for Donald Trump, and a divided Republican Party.

I expect the Democrats have scored some Brownie Points – but now the best thing they can do is forget about Trump, let the Republicans tear themselves apart over Trumpism, and let the DOJ go quietly about investigating the Trump years – which they will. And then get on with their legislative agenda while they have the numbers – it might only last two years.

“the best thing they can do is forget about Trump”…They won’t, they dare not, and they can’t. The Democrat fear of Trump and the willingness to do anything including inciting and supporting the months of city riots in the US to get rid of him (read Time magazine’s gloat on the planned riots were the election count to have shown Trump winning))can’t stop, because the reasons for their fears remain while Trump remains.

None of us has a crystal ball … the degree to which Trumpism continues after Trump – well – no-one can really say where that will go. I think it’s reasonable to surmise that his brand has been badly damaged by the storming of the US Capitol – perhaps not among the 40-45% MAGA, but he needs a fair bit more than that.

Some experienced commentators feel that Trump fervour might fade pretty quickly, now that he playing maitre d’ at Mar-a-Lago, and presumably a lot of golf. It also depends a lot on the legal travails he might well face fairly soon.

The “Brave DemoCraps” Voted for Witnesses then Voted Against Witnesses

Were Senate Democrats ‘rolled’ by impeachment managers on call for witnesses?

Some Senate Democrats Friday said that they did not support subpoenaing witnesses and extending former President Donald Trump’s impeachment trial beyond Saturday, yet all 50 Democrats voted in favor of Rep. Jamie Raskin’s surprise call to summon a GOP witness and her notes regarding a call between Trump and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy.

The Senate trial will now continue indefinitely instead of wrapping up Saturday with an acquittal.

A source familiar with a 9 a.m. conference call between Senate Democrats and House Democratic impeachment managers said Majority Leader Chuck Schumer “argued hard against witnesses.”
      Schumer’s spokesman denied the claim.

“That’s not true,” spokesman Justin Goodman told the Washington Examiner. Goodman pointed to interviews and public statements by the New York Democrat expressing support for witnesses if managers wanted to call them.

Raskin, a Maryland Democrat and the lead impeachment manager, opened the impeachment trial on Saturday by asking senators to vote to subpoena Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, a Republican from Washington state who disclosed a conversation between Trump and McCarthy that took place during the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol.

The vote to call witnesses passed 55-45 and included five Republicans.

The vote threw the trial into chaos, and rather than concluding Saturday, it could go on indefinitely. Senate Democratic leaders had hoped to wrap up the trial quickly in order to move key Democratic agenda items, including a major coronavirus relief package.

Republicans say that they want Trump’s defense lawyers to call their own witnesses, which will drag out the trial even further, perhaps for months.

      Then

‘What are they afraid of?’ Senate Dems were against witnesses before they were for them, but now they’re against them again

The Senate impeachment trial started the day with no witnesses, but then there was a 55-45 vote in favor of calling witnesses, with five Republicans joining the “yes” votes. But at some point the Democrats must have recognized a backfire factor developing, because now we’re back to no witnesses and a trial that will likely conclude with Trump’s acquittal later this afternoon:

I strongly suspect that by having witnesses cross examined, it would quickly turn into a platform to expose more of the Dem’s evil doings, and how Trump has been mis-portrayed, including opening up the door for a examination of the election fraud.

Yesterday, Trump’s legal team so thoroughly demolished the impeachment manager’s case they likely quickly had second thoughts.

Schumer blindsided by Democrat impeachment managers

He didn’t want to call witnesses in the trial

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer was outfoxed by the House impeachment managers on Saturday as they moved to allow witnesses in the impeachment trial for former president Donald Trump.

Many Senate Democrats signaled this week that they did not think that witnesses were necessary to convict Trump. The introduction of witnesses would also extend the length of the trial, providing poor optics of Democratic priorities in the middle of a pandemic and economic crisis. However, impeachment managers are seeking the testimony of those with potential insight into Trump’s mindset and conversations around the time of the Capitol riot, such as Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler and Sen. Tommy Tuberville. The Senate voted 55-45 to allow witnesses on Saturday morning, with Democrats who previously spoke out against the idea voting in favor.

Sen. Ted Cruz tweeted that Schumer was ‘blindsided’ by the House Democrats calling for witnesses at this stage, revealing that they had previously agreed to no witnesses.

‘Dems had agreed to know [sic] witnesses, then House Managers changed their mind this morning,’ Cruz claimed. ‘Schumer blindsided. Pandemonium.’

A senior Republican Senate aide confirmed to The Spectator that Schumer did not want witnesses, but was outmaneuvered by the impeachment managers. Schumer was warned to include that there would be no witnesses in the trial’s organizing resolution, but he instead left the question open. When the House managers informed Schumer on Friday night that they wanted witnesses and Schumer tried to say no, the managers told Schumer they would move ahead anyway.

‘Schumer and Senate Dems got totally rolled this morning. Now they don’t know what to do,’ the aide told The Spectator.

I guess you didn’t invest the time watching the Defence case, Tilba. The Dems were owned! That’s why they switched to demanding witnesses – which they soon did a J-turn on when Van dear Veen demanded Pelosi testify.

The Democrats shot themselves in the foot.

Firstly they tried something that was blatantly unconstitutional and yet they bleat on about the Constitution. Then they blatantly present evidence that is shown to be altered (altered tweet images, edited videos etc).

But most importantly the charade allowed footage of incidences that the MSM had deliberately not shown at the time or they had manipulated and these would have been seen for the first time by many Democrat voters. It probably would not affect the “rusted on” democrats (to use that great Aussie term) but it would have got some thinking about what has been going on —those 30% of democrats who have indicated they would vote for a Trump party if he decided to form a new party.

BTW. Now the Trump lawyers are being harrassed / intimidated with violence/graffiti at the homes and offices. Lets see if Pelosi and Schumer call the dogs off.

In my opinion the Democrats did not shoot themselves in the foot.

Democrats kept the Capitol riots in the news for as long as possible. That was their goal (besides blaming Trump).

This was a HUGE political success. The Democrats ended Trump’s political career, in my opinion … with the help of COVID and the nearly one-sided mass media attacking Trump for five years.

It was Trump who shot himself in the foot by holding a rally AFTER the election was decided on December 16, 2020.

Trump incited some people by claiming he won the election without sufficient proof. The riot had already started before people heard Trump call for a peaceful protest, and then walked the 1.5 to 2 miles to the Capitol building. Protests were obviously planned in advance — some people came with tools to break in. Some leftists entered the Capitol too.

Those details matter to us because we seek the truth.

For the Democrats, the image of the rioting after a Trump rally is all they care about, not the details. They will talk about the riot for years. Never mind the death and destruction from the many BLM and Antifa riots in 2020. They were “peaceful protests” !

Ha ha ha. No all the barricades and reinforcement is the coup plotters stopping a counter-coup by raising the price of a General bringing his troops in …… raising that price too high. Thats not going to happen anytime soon. Those with guilty minds are being hyper-vigilante. Yes I don’t see much chance of a counter-coup also. There will be no counter-coup anytime soon. But I don’t have a guilty mind. If I was at the centre of Washington, and I had just been in team coup, I would have a cold sweat all over me and I’d want to turn the whole place into a fortress.

      [SNIP]

The idea that they needed to reinforce Washington in order to keep out civilian protestors is impossible. Washington is an imperial city. No-one can invade the capital building. They have to be invited in. They WERE invited in. Try getting into the inner sanctum of the CCP if you don’t believe me. See how far you get. The Bundestag was occupied not long ago but that was another false flag/camera opportunity, and maybe even a rehearsal for the stage play in Washington.

Not everyone who watches the ABC does so on the basis that everything someone says on the television is the truth.

I would like to think everyone is critical of any media they watch – all commercial mainstream media, and also more extreme channels left and right.

Media don’t “lie” as such – they don’t create fake interviews or quote people falsely, for example, nor present rumour as fact – but what they decide to cover, and how they colour what they cover, and most importantly what they do not cover, determine their editorial (and political) position.

The ABC is a broad church … everyone from latte-sipping vegans in Fitzroy through to the most redneck (literally) farmers in remote rural areas – they love their ABC. And as a subset, SBS.

Australia would be much poorer (socially, politically, culturally) without the two national networks. If anyone has any doubt, go to the US for a while and experience how execrable TV and radio are.

So, you’d expect a “broad church” to offer a variety of opinions. Here’s a challenge for you, Tilba. See if you can find the following:
            1. An ABC article or interview providing a skeptics view on climate change
            2. An ABC article or interview that is positive about anything Trump did in the past 4 years
            3. An ABC article that admits that ‘Russia Collusion’ dossier was found to be fake.
            4. An ABC prime time presenter who has right wing views.
You’d expect all of the above from a real “broad church”.
Oh yes, do tell us about these ‘red neck’ farmers who are supposedly a part of this broad church. You just made that up didn’t you. You don’t know a single one.

Yeah I can see how the ABC would still have a valuable role in the countryside. I remember when they were still reasonably sane. Now they are as much of a disinformation format as CNN or NBC. They were leftist slanted but honest back in the day. Now I know where you are coming from I see I have taken the completely wrong attitude towards you. You are even older than I am. And you have lived in rural areas where people are still sane. You can’t extrapolate this sense of how people are to places like Washington, New York, Sydney, the urban ABC, the University system, or the American court system. A good proportion of the West has gone nutty and this information may have passed you by. I may be going too far if I were to say that no girl brought up on indoor plumbing was ever any good. But you’ve got to understand that you really are out of touch. Its not like back during the Carter and Reagan era where people were pretty sane. Where Reagan could go have a few beers with Tip O’Neil and these two opposing Irishmen could work a lot of things out, with each having an honest view of what was good for the American people. Thats the world you might still be living in. But its degenerated into something much closer to the worst days of Byzantium.

Yeah I can see how the ABC would still have a valuable role in the countryside.

The countryside? Remote and Rural Australia is in general very difficult to describe as “countryside” – it is not like the sculptured green fields of Buckinghamshire, or even the rolling hills of sheep country around Goulburn.

It is hard, harsh, punishing, hot, dusty, dry, flat, and mostly empty – and did I mention hot? People out there have to be really really tough, perhaps a bit insane, and deeply committed to not aspiring to the life that cities can provide.

They are a very different breed. I was not like that – I was a city slicker who had to learn a lot of stuff fairly quickly, and it was hugely absorbing.

The ABC has (or had) a very special and important role in the lives of these people (especially the women, I reckon) – and not just for weather reports and livestock or grain prices.

ABC Regional stations are hugely important as community resources – being able to deliver a great deal in remote environments where commercial TV and Radio simply could not survive financially – and I think that has become even worse over the last two decades as online services have reached the bush.

Anyway – I’m not here to defend the ABC or SBS – I love them both very much, and thank goodness I live in a society and culture that is willing to support such long-standing institutions.

If you think they’re hotbeds of lefty activism, I think that is a misreading of how they function, where they draw staff from, and what their role is. I think a lot of people mistake their “balance” and neutrality for leftism.

Having said that – to get a job at the ABC you have to be intelligent, well-educated and broad-minded … and such people tend to have centre-left and lefty views.

8 years ago – multiple remote communities over 30 years – FNQ, NT, WA, NSW, QLD, SA, VIC

I remember Doug Anthony Deputy PM and Leader National Party, walking through Toomelah Misson late 70s in NSW with Senator Neville Bonner, with TV crew in tow (one of my classmates was born in Boomi)

Neville Bonner said to Doug “look at this Raw sewage running down the street”

Doug replied “Neville – there are 20 young men standing over there doing nothing – why don’t they dig a Septic Tank and trenches rather than stand around doing nothing?”

Toomelah Station is an Aboriginal Australian community in the far north of inland New South Wales, Australia within the Boggabilla locality in Moree Plains Shire. The mission was established in the 1930s

2011 staying in Fitzroy Crossing in Barb Wire Camping Compound – 4WD testing Landrover Defender 110 – a 18 Month Old Baby Boy had been r*ped and the Police had been called to the house and they were unable to find a sober adult in the household, let alone anyone related to the Baby Boy.

I had a young Christian Guy working for me and when he got married, he took 18 months leave to work in a remote community in the Kimberleys with his new wife – He came back very disillusioned.

How is it then that this centrist (get it right!) remains deeply sceptical that the election was fraudulent – given the absence of any evidence that could satisfy even Republican states and Republican judges?

It seems to me it is the Trumpists who are far more willing to believe the latest piece of rumour or gossip from the outer planets of the solar system.

I particularly liked the one about the firefight between the DoD and the Cia in Frankfurt, over a Dominion server. LOL that really was tinfoil hat territory, but it was repeated over and over as “fact”. Just one among many.

It may come as a complete shock to you, but a very significant percentage of media personnel (whom I used to teach) are committed to reporting the “truth” in an objective and balanced way.

Do a story on the ABC (or any respectable network) that is biased or obviously one-sided, and you will receive a dressing down. If you present rumour and hearsay as established fact, you can be demoted or dismissed.

But watch Fox News (among others) – to see how it should not be done – they don’t even try to disguise their hatred and contempt for anything to the left of Genghis Khan … it’s unwatchable.

Many Americans would be seeing the whole of Trumps speeches for the first time as the trial was live streamed by the networks hoping for a conviction no doubt. The defence was masterful showing the Democrat prosecution to be using edited replays and leaving context out of Trumps statements. It would come as a shock for some to be hearing what he actually said rather than what CNN said he said.

MY take is that Trump came out looking strong and vindicated. The Democrats came out looking like petulant juveniles full of hate seeking revenge for being shown up as non achievers and two time losers. The traitorous Republicans just signed their political death warrants and that will include good old Mitch as number eight. “The Democrats went straight to closing arguments because they have no case and they wanted to protect Nancy Pelosi.”

I think the Democrats were surprised when Mr. Trump’s lawyers asked to depose around 100 witnesses which would have dragged out the process, potentially compromised a lot of Democrats (including Nancy Pelosi) and, in the end, very likely accomplish nothing. It is just another indication that the second impeachment was rushed and not well thought out (much like the first impeachment).

Maybe its just me , but nearly all the people I talk to seem to be aware of the true situation in the USA and are also wondering when the adults are going to take over . The democrats are acting like a bunch of scared and spiteful children . They continue to paint themselves into a corner and will throw a tantrum and blame everyone else when they get to the consequences. The only problem is that the coming disaster will affect everyone in the USA and possibly the world . Maybe the preppers have it right….

I noticed after the first impeachment of Mr. Trump ended in acquittal the Democrats said the impeachment was a permanent stain on Mr. Trump’s reputation that he would always have to live with but they didn’t seem to think that Mr. Clinton’s impeachment was a problem for Mr. Clinton’s reputation.

Trump has been awarded two Congressional medals of honour. Twice stood up to and was victorious over the enemies of the US people and constitution.

Apparently Trump’s lawyer said he too wanted the right to call 100 witnesses , including Nancy Pelosi and the Governor of Washington. Both responsible for security and both had the knowledge that trouble was to be expected . The pipe bombs were found the previous evening. Trump had already offered 10,000 troops but neither Pelosi nor the Governor liked the “optics”.

In his interview with FOX , Trump’s lawyer confirmed his house had be damaged and graffitied, his family , his business, employees and colleagues had been attacked. But he refused to give details.

So this is the second time in two years they have wasted at least two weeks of the entire political system to once again destroy Donald Trump. Why? Is this to please the public, which makes no sense, or to please the masters of the Universe to whom they are now beholden?

It shows how much the Democrat party fears Donald Trump and are desperate to please their friends in Silicon Valley and the CIA,FBI and the swamp in Washington and the military industial lobbyists. Peace is very bad for business. Newfound energy independence is worse. And not a single new war in four years! Unbelievable.

And Donald Trump was the #1 world enemy of Climate Change and a return to the steady destruction of American energy independence. It was why Biden’s economically disastrous first move was to shut down the XL pipeline which was far preferable on just environmental grounds as the old pipeline is still working, even if it leaks.

Now Hollywood wants Biden to shut down all the working pipelines. It’s all about pleasing your friends and their friends in China as they chase the China Yuan. From Wu Flu to Chinese entertainment consumers to smart phones in the world’s biggest market for phones, Silicon Valley and Hollywood want more Chinese money and Trump threatened that. As long as no one tells Bette Middler and Barbra Streisand what is really going on. They believe those Uighur muslims are really in a sort of Disneyland for dissidents. The Germans had the same idea once but no one believed it.

And the country which generates half the world’s CO2 is exempt from doing anything about it because they are a third world country while their space probe enters orbit around Mars. How many other countries are rich enough to do this? France? Germany? Australia? Fiji?

While China is adding each year more coal fired power stations than Australia has in total, we are still buying Chinese windmills and solar panels and sending carbon cash to encourage them not to build more coal fired power plants. And at least Donald Trump is not there to point out the lunacy of taxing Americans and Australians and forcing them to buy even more Chinese windmills and solar panels, destroying the profitability of our own coal plants. And this while refusing to pay for the coal they bought, to teach us a lesson.

The people who would see the planet as slaves need to teach Australia a lesson. They have just shown America how to run a successful election. It starts with a virus.

The Socialist Democrats are doing what the globalist puppet masters encourage them to do, DJT is their number one political enemy threatening their new world order plans.

We had a glimpse of what is going on when Christopher Monckton warned Australians to protect our PM Abbott, and he did the same for the Canadian and New Zealand conservative centre-right leaders at the time. He fully understands what is taking place, the inevitability of gradualness and elimination of roadblocks.

“So this is the second time in two years they have wasted at least two weeks of the time of the entire system to attempt to personally destroy Donald Trump. Why? ”

The Deep State seldom does anything for one reason only. Just as if you need some butter, you will wind up getting a bunch of other things while you are at the shop. And in fact the Deep State needs to bury all their motives under the disguise that blowing smoke can bring. Some folks say that where there is smoke there is fire. But Bobby said that where there is smoke there is some fellow operating the smoke machine.

The first time the impeachment was about doubling down on a process by which the corrupt Democrats had to project all their corruption and faults onto Trump. So they said that Trump was a puppet of the Russians, whereas we know that various Democrats had profiteered in fissionable materials to the Russians, had wet their beak in the Ukraine after conducting a terrorist based colour revolution there, and that they were also sucking on the teat of the CCP. If Trump had a notion to get in on the act, and claim some of the revenue for himself, the reality is that he was a latecomer to town, and therefore pretty clean. His business opportunities were limited since he had showed up in town with an anti-CCP agenda. So he hadn’t been corrupted or at least not in the same ways and by the same people as the Democrats.

The next thing is whether you have pushed two of the three hypotheses to do with the virus aside. Or even if you have been more patient than me, and are still holding the three major hypotheses in parallel … It remains the case that its pretty good to have a massive media distraction when you are conducting biowarfare terrorist attacks. People who criticise THE PRESIDENTS (here I use capitals advisedly) performance with regards to the virus ….. I want you to put yourself in his place. Because he had to put up with this extreme legal jeopardy, and recover mentally and morale-wise from this insane hate campaign .. Thats a good way to wrong-foot the President from the problems to hand. But even so he seemed to broadly make pretty good decisions and he got it right with HCQ and a lot of other things.

So it makes me think that the American system can work. But only if it really is the American system and not some American Pravda Banskster-Paradise.

The reason I say that is Section 3 of the 14th Amendment says no-one can hold office if they’ve engaged in “insurrection or rebellion” against the United States. It can be argued with much evidence the Democrats lead by Biden did just that. So, an impeachment trial against Biden would be in order, certainly more so than the failed witch hunt perpetrated by the Democrats against Trump.

Sometimes I think statements of this sort leave the enquiry in limbo. Like for example if six months ago, someone said “I think that Fauci has some questions to answer for?” Is that not an attempt to deep six some of the data in order to prejudice one hypothesis over another?

We need to have an hypothesis to explain the data. Not excluding the data to do with the behaviour of Pence. No data to be arbitrarily excluded. I see the Pence behaviour as quite normal and according to Hoyles: If we contend a Byzantine environment where assassination is inhaled and exhaled and they all breath the same air. Where the kind of cabin fever that we feel in Othello is the norm.

We just can’t push the Pence behaviour aside. Or that job that some dumb leftist lost for making a casual remark about Pence. The first time the deep state had stuck up for a Christian conservative on Twitter and they went and took it all the way by relieving a formerly immune left doofus of his employment revenue.

All data is relevant. Even the data where someone tries to show a poisoning plot that Pence isn’t happy about, but that he knows about just the same.

Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah person x has something to answer for. To me thats dumping the data in the rubbish bin. To me we are all pretty much the same. If someone bribes me forget it about it. If they threaten me and bribe me and threaten those I care about……. Successful purchase. Sorry but I’m getting old.

    A complication to consider:

President-in-Exile Trump really is the legally elected President if the fraudulent votes are discounted….

So, as baseless as the false claims against him for impeachment are, he might really be impeachable….

On the other hand, he is not actually recognised as the legal President so it won’t matter anyway…

    80

    • #
      TdeF

He is not the President, not an officer of the government. Whether he should be still the President or not. That will have to be established in a Court of Law and that is unlikely. Whether the election was stolen is now a moot point. Biden is the new President.

Yes, history will show it was stolen and that Obama was born in Kenya, but that does not matter any more than whether Hitler was Austrian and Stalin was Georgian. And Man of Steel was not his real name. That is a comic book character. And you can be quite sure that all evidence of the theft of the election will have been comprehensively destroyed. There were thousands of witnesses but it’s all over.

Removing someone from office in retrospect is part of the ongoing hatred of Trump and using the entire of Congress and the Senate to try to do it is borderline insane hatred. And this is the second time in just two years. You would think the government of the United States had more important work to do, but perhaps not.

And still Bette Middler is not happy. Nor Cher nor Barbra Streisand. You have to wonder why these near geriatric singers get front page opinions on politics, but that’s the entertainment business. In a world of its own. The biggest worry Biden has is transgender athletes rights and respect for transgender soldiers who are the backbone of the military apparently.

Typical leftist ignoramus who haven’t got a clue about taxation laws and business.

I remember the late Kerry Packer fronting a Federal Senate Committee hearing questioning his personal tax record, they alleged that based on the taxable income of the businesses in his portfolio he was not paying enough income tax. The Senators even got mixed up about what is revenue and what is taxable profit.

Mr Packer embarrassed them with his responses including reminding the Senators that tax minimisation is legal (as compared to tax avoidance) and his income is always correctly assessed, in other words the income he chooses to pay himself from dividends paid into his family trust from businesses the trust has invested in.

President Trump would be in a similar position, maybe asset rich but cash poor for the purpose of personal income tax liability.

He does seem okay. He may be a little bit TOO effective because he’s getting the killer vaccine out there too well. But the thing is he’s not extraordinary. He’s not necessarily going to show up in Washington with the idea that this is enemy occupied territory. The rumour is that Florida actually runs fair elections? What a novel idea?? That would be something amazing if true. I think that the idea is to support third parties until and unless you get someone who is at war with the status quo. This is no time to be harsh on welfare spending. But you’ve got to have someone who wants to close down government departments, kick out any Israeli interlopers, re-establish a reserve asset ratio, trash the Federal Reserve and replace it with a currency board. If you are not wanting to get rid of these Federal Reserve blood-suckers you aren’t being serious.

When the President In Exile first arrived in Washington he’d be boasting about the stock market and talking about tax cuts. I would tweet back that only sissies talk about tax cuts. Real men get rid of government departments by the bakers dozen. He never replied of course. He was able to revive the economy on re-regulation, with a view to less regulations and less onerous regulations. Thats a fantastic achievement. Not even Reagan could manage that. Also the President-In-Exile managed to create a lot of jobs just by ringing up CEO’s and subjecting them to moral suasion. Really impressive. But in the end you need to be able to slim down the government to defence, transfer payments, and infrastructure. We don’t need everyone and their Momma having a high-paying job in the public service doing jobs outside those three broad tasks. So for me the President-In-Exile was like a martial arts expert beating up six people with one of his arms behind his back. Impressive to watch but not powerfully effective for the longer run.
