The Canadian people are becoming increasingly sympathetic to the Truckers views on the pandemic with every passing day and less impressed with Trudeau. He looks weak and out of step. As a desperate face-saving manouver — hypothetically (and pathetically) he could remove the mandates but disguise it with chest beating “action” — hoping he looks strong rather than defeated. That’s what Doug Ford, Premier of Ontario has just done. Ford announced he will end the mandates. So the Truckers won, but he will effectively punish them all the way home to make sure they don’t do it again, and it doesn’t look like they won.
In the same spiteful small spirit, even though the Ambassador Bridge is apparently reopened, Trudeau is rumoured to be ready to invoke the Emergencies Act — something designed to be used when lives are endangered, or the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Canada is threatened.

In an IPSOS poll, 46% now say the Truckers frustrations are legitimate and they are worthy of sympathy. Among the under 34 year olds that figure is an amazing 61%.
The ground was being pulled out from underneath Trudeau, and often by the younger demographic, his voters, who now see a faster way to get their freedom back than waiting for their fourth shot.
Ontario will stop up Vaccine Mandates on March 1:
TORONTO — Ontario is ending its vaccine certificate system on March 1, when capacity limits will lift as well, Premier Doug Ford announced Monday — although Ford said masking requirements will remain for now.
Amazingly Ontario’s top doctor has just realized “We have the level of protection we need”.

So there. You’ll never work as a Truck driver ever again! As Ezra Levant points out, even murderers don’t lose their ability to earn a living “forever”.
Meanwhile the police are now reduced to sabotaging excavators “to keep the peace”
Near the Alberta border protest, three excavators were parked on private land, with permission and within view of the highway at Coutts. The RCMP asked them to move their equipment out of sight of the highway, which the drivers obligingly did. The police didn’t mention that the reason they were moved “out of sight” was so they could vandalize them without an audience.
The police say they damaged the equipment because it might have been used in the blockade.

Who is going to report a sniffle? My daughter-in-law was reasonably certain she had covid because her 4yo tested positive, 1yo tested positive and my son tested positive. She did three RATs without a positive so had a PCR test and that was positive. The only reason she did the PCR was so she could get time off work to take some of the childminding load off my son because the kids were not permitted in school or day care while infectious. I do not know if the grandsons’ or my son’s cases were reported.
How accurate is the reported data on flu. Have you had the flu without it being reported? I certainly have.
So how accurate is the reported data on omicron. The reported cases for omicron in the USA peaked at three times the peak of the first wave. If there are 800k reported daily cases then I expect the ability to get anywhere near the actual number of cases is unrealistic. The case data is now pointless.

You could argue, but you would be wrong. I watched substantial footage of Freedom protests via independent news feeds. The majority of people were very peaceful and respectful of police. I did however see lots of footage of police, pepper spraying protestors, knocking down protestors. Also some very horrible footage of protestors body slammed by police for no apparent reason. There was also video of police firing rubber bullets at retreating peaceful protestors. There was 1 single incident of a can of drink thrown at a MSM reporter probably by a disgruntled CFMEU member. There was no riots- there were peaceful protests.

There are a couple of thresholds for calling something a riot.
First the authorities need to declare a riot. Second the riot act must be read to the rioters.
I have seen no suggestion that either of the thresholds was passed in Victoria.

In the newspaper article he stated he had 3 to 4 days of tough going but not life threatening. Assuming it was omicron, older vaccinated people I know who have had it have had very mild symptoms.
My 1yo old grandson in the UK has probably had the worst omicron experience that I am personally aware of. He had fluctuating fever over 5 days. His 4yo older brother, who brought the virus into the household, had sniffles for a couple of days. Their vaccinated mother did not test positive with using RAT but did with PCR. All are now clear.

I’ve had a breathing problem for about 10 years which the medical knowledge we are supposed to trust didn’t solve. Had to uncurl several times to get breaths while pulling a sock on. Even a major inspection in a big city hospital, where I passed on heart, lungs and head. I did learn that I didn’t have a lot of things though!
Via a couple of realist blogs (including this one) I started on Vit D and then followed with Vit C and zinc. About 2 years ago I did a shopping run to our local centre (which had bulk tourists) from my usual property isolation and a couple of days later came down with running nose, sore throat and heightened breathing problems. Got tested negative for the Peking Pox due to family about to crossing borders etc.
And broke out the supply of IVM sheep drench.
The result was an end to the breathing problems – from having 4 to 5 spells while unloading 40 bags of a pallet of supplement to taking none. And from having to put the water bottle down to get a breath after about 5 mouthfuls to being able to take about 12.
Several recurrences have been treated the same way.
And anyone talking up the “dangers” of that product didn’t read the MDS – it can be argued that the biggest danger is from the water you are told to drink in case of ingestion or to wash off any spills.
In agricultural chemical use we are supposed to rotate products to minimise build up of resistance. Animal products based in IVM have virtually been removed from the market, So I don’t thank the TGA for removing one of not many that we had to choose from.

Vote of no confidence should lead to resignation of the government and then somebody who can command a majority on the floor of the house pays a visit to the GG. The simplified version in Australia’s case was that Fraser was able to command a majority on the floor of the house on the promise he would go to the GG and call an election. The slightly more complicated version is that Whitlam tried to race Fraser to Government House to sack the GG before Fraser could get there to call the election.
And that brief history shows some of the wrinkles in sacking a government which does not want to be sacked. Of course if the government survives the vote of no confidence it is carry on up the Khyber.
