The video will become legendary. An MSMBC host creates great satire accidentally.
There is truly nothing funnier than this MSNBC host ranting about what Elon Musk could do to Twitter, and accidentally giving a perfect description of how Twitter has actually operated for the last five years
— Cabot Phillips (@cabot_phillips) April 26, 2022
So Ari Melber (the host) knew what the Twitter team were doing for years, but he’s only concerned now?
Half of twitter is alive today with people returning to it, while the other half are apoplectic because a billionaire just bought a media outlet.
Cabot Phillips mocks the Influencer meltdowns:
Elon Musk Is Evil! She says, in a video posted to an app controlled by the CCP, on a phone made by slave labor, repeating propaganda from a newspaper owned by Jeff Bezos.
But the EU and UK have both already warned Elon Musk that Twitter must comply with The Digital Services Act:
“Whether on online harassment, the sale of counterfeit products… child pornography, or calls for acts of terrorism… Twitter will have to adapt to our European regulations which do not exist in the United States,” EU commissioner Thierry Breton told AFP.
Interestingly one of the big fans of Elon Musk is Jack Dorsey, co-founder of Twitter:
@jack
The idea and service is all that matters to me, and I will do whatever it takes to protect both. Twitter as a company has always been my sole issue and my biggest regret. It has been owned by Wall Street and the ad model. Taking it back from Wall Street is the correct first step.
In principle, I don’t believe anyone should own or run Twitter. It wants to be a public good at a protocol level, not a company. Solving for the problem of it being a company however, Elon is the singular solution I trust. I trust his mission to extend the light of consciousness.
Hillel Neuer reminds us of the cultural task ahead for the new management:
He tweets:
I fear Elon Musk could undermine the ideological diversity, equity and inclusion at Twitter which currently maintains a careful balance of 98.7% for one side.
Zero self-awareness. Zero Prospective. And he has to believe every word he said because not even a democrat could keep a straight face, for that long, while displaying that level of hypocrisy.

Musk’s Twitter Purchase Fails After 138,000 Board Votes Found Overnight

Leftists threaten to leave a free speech Twitter owned by Musk just as they threatened to leave the US if Trump became president. It never happened, unfortunately.
301
Uh, fortunately, David. We, and the rest of the world don’t want them!
00
It’s a bit hypocritical of Dorsey supporting a free speech Twitter under Musk when Dorsey was personally responsible for banning President Trump and many other sitting politicians and other conservatives simply on the basis of having any political views to the right of Pol Pot.
281
Jack Dorsey is one of the main reasons why twitter is a cesspool.
Getting banned for stating a fact such as only women can get pregnant is insanity.
I haven’t forgotten the Hunter Biden laptop coverup either. That censorship changed the course of the election.
Twitter was part of the swamp. I hope Musk does what he says but he will have a lot of opposition from within the company and from various government and SJW entities.
131
A bigger reason Twitter is a cesspool is it’s location in San Francisco which is a cesspool of far left lunacy. An even bigger reason is that they hire predominately new grads coming from similar cesspools indoctrinating them to blindly accept the nonsense of the lunatic left. Twitter was originally intended to be an open forum, but its employees sent it in a different direction.
131
Perhaps he’ll do what he did with his Tesla factory, shift it out of California to a Red state and re staff it with right leaning, mature individuals. There must be hundreds of tech experts who do not vote Democrat in the US.
90
Let’s not let the perfect be the enemy of the good. If the 10% most extreme on both sides end up hating Mush and Twitter, it will be a wonderful asset to the return of an informed populace able to debate important issues, and Elon will be come even more ridiculously wealthy than he already is;
eyeballs in quantity prefer entertainment to invective; the purveyor of facts who makes his points with humor and grace, and trades barbs with intellectual equals with some respect, will outdraw the harpie insulting the audience by demeaning them; standard CNN/MSNBC/PBS/BBC/ABC fare.
Folks with 7 figure podcast audiences will have similar numbers of twitter followers on an open platform, especially if its the medium where the follow-up discussion takes place. Free speech and quality of service are a consequence of the profit motive; in the same way that for profit service companies often are superior to non-profits. And those conversations will still provide the leads for tomorrows news, there being no reporters out in the field anymore.
71
‘If the 10% most extreme on both sides end up hating Mush and Twitter, it will be a wonderful asset to the return of an informed populace able to debate important issues….”
There is a very significant amount of evidence on Internet social media that the “informed populace etc,” is a myth.
Examples of the myths accepted by this “informed populace’
5G viruses causes Covid-19.

One side of politics talks about the “myth” of the informed populace. It’s the side that believes in voo-doo and witchcraft — like believing their car causes heatwaves and the seas to rise, and jellyfish plagues, and reckless fish.
To convince themselves of how smart they are, they learn a series of “myths” of how stupid other people are. It all feeds the fallacy “I’m right on climate change because a tiny percentage of climate skeptics are wrong on totally different topics”. My team = smart. Them = stupid.
Truth is there are people who believe in crazy things on both sides. The solution is to have a town hall public forum where all ideas and all opinions can be discussed. That’s the point of Elon Musk’s plan for Twitter. And it’s why the Left, with so many crazy “mainstream” fantasies, hates it.
Skeptics, please don’t take the bait here to go off-topic, as Ian may hope you will. The thread is about Twitter and free speech. Arguments that “the public are stupid” are always made by the worst dictators who want an excuse to stop people talking about topics they don’t like the discussion on.
170
Putting the public into “both sides” is not exactly painting a picture of an intelligent populace.
17
Every second person you meet has below-average intelligence.
Just do a quick count around you…
20
That’s the “median”, not the “average”.
20
It is probably unfair to say that the public are stupid but they are very ill-informed and ignorant. You can put a lot of this down to either a biased or incompetent media which the public still consider to be a reliable source of information. I suppose you could argue that they are stupid to believe that. For some such as those who subscribe to the Guardian’s world of make believe, they are reading what they want to read to confirm their virtue signalling.
In terms of incompetent media you only have to look back to the beginning of February and the Telegraph ‘informing’ readers that Putin had a might modern army that could crush all the border states at once. Now they are scrambling back as the reality is that modern equipment is in limited supply and most of the tanks are from the 70s.
You have to laugh at Ian if he still thinks that Covid transferred from animals – even the chinese have given up the pretence on that one!
50
Every link that Ian put forward is from a highly biased source, either far-left, or heavily linked to or funded by big pharma or Bill Gate et al.
Certainly not enough to dispel any of these so-called “myths… but more to reinforce them.
20
– Winston Churchill
10
Tel, I have to wonder how many five-minute conversations Churchill had with the “average voter” during his life time. Born into a life of privilege, never drove a car, waited on all his life, I have to wonder if he even knew an “average voter”.
30
Free speech from Klaus Schwab and similar has seen them clearing stating that they want to microchip everyone.
Using a Bill Gates/Reuters link in no way counters their statements. Think of a fox guarding a hen house.
It so good that their comments have been allowed to be aired. People now know what they intend.
Scripps is also funded by big pharma, so their reliability on vaxxine comments is dubious to say the least.
Some things are not necessarily “conspiracy” just because people actually wanting to do it, say so. 😉
Not saying I believe in these theories… but…
.. it is very important that these sort of links between the wannabe powers are aired to the public, and not hidden behind a wall of censorship.
Let them be aired…
Let the evidence be put…
The more you attempt to block, the more people get suspicious.
20
From “Alliance for Science” website..
20
Today’s conspiracy theories….. often have a tendency to become Tomorrows facts. !
Especially where the far-left are the perpetrators.
20
A perfect example of a hypocrite even if Elon Musk does what that MSNBC host warns about, which hopefully he won’t.
10
Apparently Twitter staf are really miffed but Musk’s purchase of “their” safe spaces.
Many have refused to go back to working at their offices & are demanding special treatment.
I would recommend they wake up to real life. Mr Musk has not become one of the most successful business executives by bending to the whims or preferences of snowflakes.
I believe Mr Musk will also apply a long standing business practice known as FIFO. First In First Out when applied to turning tangible stock as quickly as possible.
The second application is used to motivate belligerent & disruptive staff.
In this case FIFO is interpreted as Fit In Or F Off. Very effective business practice!
251
I believe Elon has guaranteed existing jobs for six months.
50
Darn, I was hoping Parag would be marched out of his office, forthwith.
That’s Parag Agrawal CEO — remember? — the immigrant who scorns America’s constitutional protection of the right to free speech.
91
G’day David,
Today’s SMH has an article under the heading:
” Why does Musk want Twitter? And what would he do with it? ”
That includes this as it final paragraph:
” While Twitter’s board has accepted Musk’s proposal, and the deal is expected to close this year, it’s not a sure thing yet. Shareholders still need to vote to accept the proposal, and it will be subject to regulators in the US and around the world. ”
Perhaps that gives the 6 months?
Cheers
Dave B
10
I bet it was Musk who demanded they lock up the algorithm during their negotiations! He would have been well aware of the number of self indulgent snowflakes it Twitter and the risk they posed.
Musks’ biggest problem now is how to weed them out as most are too narcissistic to understand what freedom of speech actually means let alone work towards creating and protecting it!!
200
A test of Elon Musk’s integrity will be to see his reaction to people discussing the issues with Tesla cars catching on fire and the increasing environmental hazards in the manufacture and disposal of batteries uses in EVs.
171
Boom-boom!
90
I don’t think it will be a problem. Teslas are primarily sold to Leftist Elites and they will be unconcerned by such problems and continue to buy the product. And Elon will continue to laugh all the way to the bank. Normal people don’t buy such virtue signaling accessories.
152
The “recode” bar-chart is astounding. I’m not surprised by the leaning, but if it were a tree, it would pull the roots from the ground and fall over.
170
Apparently Elon is rightfully worried that the existing Leftist employees of Twitter will sabotage the operation such as deleting files, not handing over passwords or even burning down offices and server centres.
It’s said he has employed security guards to try and protect from the more obvious forms of sabotage.
Also, as I mentioned yesterday Elon will have to disconnect from Google Cloud Services and any other infrastructure controlled by Leftist Elites.
Elon is a long range thinker. Consider that an uncensored Twitter feed (unecumbered by Google services) might be a perfect way to sell his Starlink satellite Internet. Apart from Twitter, he could offer other Internet services uncensored by Leftist Elites. This could very well be what it takes to cause Starlink to be made popular. The “killer application” as they say.
110
Wonder where Fox Would fit on that chart.
Interesting that tech outfits lean democratic,
but the problem with the chart is that the number of donations is not listed, just the total, so it could be just one donation from the CEO, using it as a tax deduction
[Precisely why the Clinton Foundation is headquartered in Canada, so they must only report aggregate totals, not names and amounts as required by US Law.- LVA]
11
Totally agree,
The problem remains about the blue team funding or owning most of the media
11
Lol, still trying to pretend that Twitter is not overwhelmingly far-left in ideology.
Find a different canoe.. one that actually floats. !
10
Elon Musk is the richest man in the world with an estimated worth of US$264 billion. Jeff Bezoz is the second richest with US$171 billion and the richest of the Leftist Elites.
Musk paid US$44 billion for Twitter.
Even if the Elites totally sabotage Twitter and render it valueless he would still be the richest man by a substantial margin.
110
He has plans for Twitter, he said he did not care about the economics of it. I’m sure it nas something to do with going to Mars in his lifetime, but no one knows what those plans are.
30
Ben Garrison on Twitter

Tucker Carlson Gives His Perspective on Musk Successfully Purchasing Twitter Platform
There is an angle to this move which looms. If the doomsday predictions of Twitter’s Thursday anticipated first quarter financial earnings are correct, it is entirely possible that Musk is about to take a massive financial hit.
Some, including myself, who understand the financial black hole that Twitter’s business model represents, have suspicions that Twitter may be hung around Musk’s neck like a millstone as he’s thrown into the deep state sea of social media. It will be interesting to see how quickly Musk responds to those Q1 financials. [NOTE: I foresee be a small user fee in the future]
40
I have no doubt that Musk has already seen those Q1 results as part of his due diligence process.
60
I hope Elon releases lots of interesting relevations he and his new team discover at Twitter.

BREAKING: Project Veritas Releases Leaked Audio of Twitter Meeting Following Elon Musk’s Purchase
The audio is only about a minute long, but Project Veritas Founder James O’Keefe has promised that there is more to come.
According to a report from Politico, Twitter’s top lawyer Vijaya Gadde cried during the meeting “as she expressed concerns about how the company could change.”
“Gadde, who has worked at Twitter since 2011, is the key executive charged with overseeing Twitter’s trust and safety, legal and public policy functions. She is seen internally as Twitter’s ‘authority’ and the executive tasked with handling sensitive issues like harassment and dangerous speech,” the report explained.
60
Twitter lawyer who censored Biden Laptop story cries during Musk takeover meeting
Gadde holds one of the most controversial positions at Twitter: Her teams decide how to moderate content. That’s made her a target of right-wing criticism, particularly when Twitter blocked the distribution of a New York Post article about President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, in 2020. She faced a renewed wave of criticism after multiple reports confirmed she was behind the decision to ban Trump from Twitter.
Monday was an emotional day at Twitter — even for its executives.
Shortly after billionaire Elon Musk bought the powerful social media platform, top Twitter lawyer Vijaya Gadde called a virtual meeting with the policy and legal teams she oversees to discuss what the new ownership could mean for them.
Gadde cried during the meeting as she expressed concerns about how the company could change, according to three people familiar with the meeting. She acknowledged that there are significant uncertainties about what the company will look like under Musk’s leadership.

Elon Musk slams Twitter’s top lawyer who sobbed after he bought social media network and blasts her for ‘incredibly inappropriate’ censorship of Hunter Biden laptop story
– Vijaya Gadde, the 48-year-old chief legal officer and general counsel of Twitter, called a virtual meeting with the policy and legal teams she oversees on Monday
– Gadde wanted to update her team on the implications of Elon Musk’s $44 billion takeover of the company, and ended up breaking down in tears, Politico said
– Gadde ‘expressed concerns about how the company could change,’ Politico reported, under Musk’s leadership, in which free speech is championed
– Having joined Twitter in 2011, she has been central in crafting the company’s positions on banning hate speech versus allowing free debate
– Gadde was instrumental in the decision to ban Donald Trump from the platform in January 2020 on charges of inciting violence

Meanwhile – Reports: Netflix Employee Morale Plummets as Stock Sinks and Subscribers Flee
Netflix is experiencing a crisis in employee morale following the steamer’s report last week that it lost 200,000 subscribers during the first quarter and expects to lose a stunning 2 million more in the months ahead.
The gloomy financial outlook has sent Netflix shares in a downward spiral, further alienating employees who receive compensation in the form of stock options.
Shares of Netflix have dropped 43 percent since the company reported first quarter earnings last week and are down more than 66 percent so far this year.
Netflix’s financial outlook is so grim that billionaire hedge fund investor Bill Ackman recently dumped his fund’s 3.1 million Netflix shares at a loss estimated at more than $400 million.

Update: In the short time since I posted the Rotten Tomatoes link they seem to have deleted it even though it still comes up in a Google search.
21
The ratings were probably so low RT decided to “homogenise” the results to improve them (just like Australia’s BoM adjusts the weather records).
After all, who would possibly hate a series about a “pregnant man”.

Leftism doesn’t sell.
That’s why they force censorship (e.g. all social media (Musk excepted) and legacy media) or force you to buy their defective products, (e.g. solar, wind, covid “vaccines”).

An uncensored Internet might be delivered by Elon’s Starlink which will eventually comprise of 42,000 miniature satellites, which many consider to be a problem.
Here is some remarkable footage, which I believe is real, of two Starlink “satellite trains” viewed from earth with the sun striking the solar panels at exactly the right angle.

Reminds me of the orbital rings described in Dan Simmons book Ilium.

Would have commented earlier, but had to go have a nap after feasting on all of that juicy schadenfreude.
70
That bar chart looks damning, but what does it really say? E.g. it could be a small number of large contributors in each company. Drilling down, it appears that this is the base article. It dates to October 2018. Not exactly up to the minute, is it? And when you drill down from there to their data source you get to the (perhaps appropriately named) enigma.com, who are still in the data business, but the old links no longer work. I don’t see a source of comparable new data there at the moment.
Is it really policy in the US that if you contribute more than $200 to a political party you have to disclose who your employer is, and in a verifiable way? Or can you just say “Yeah, I work for Twitter”, much as you might say “Yeah, my name is Frank.N.Stein”.
It’s a good idea to be sceptical about our own side too, but I do hope Musk does what he promises as far as freeing up speech for Twitter users.
100
Thanks. You saved me a lot of time and effort and you’ve denied a lot of red thumbs
18
…and did you look further down at the company doantions via PACs. Most companies split money 50/50 but not twitter and ironically Tesla. Here’s the rub. Twitter gives most* to republicans and tesla almost all to Democrats.
*most.. the amounts are actually very small especially in comparison to the employee numbers, I’d argue they are not statistically useful but at least illustrate that there is not a bias in the direction expected from twitter vs Musk.
17
I did, but did you not notice the total sums involved? E.g. Twitter gave the Democrats 46% of $9000, but their employees apparently gave the Democrats 98.7% of $228,000. Still pretty one-sided.
81
“the amounts are actually very small especially in comparison to the employee numbers, I’d argue they are not statistically useful but at least illustrate that there is not a bias in the direction expected from twitter vs Musk.”
110
leads me to think it is a single donation, by the CEO, for tax purposes
31
OK, so lets say there are a lot of secret conservatives at Twitter. If that’s the case, isn’t it still kinda telling that conservatives have to hide their political preferences?
Or maybe the ten year program of political bullying and a lack of respect means gradually people who vote “the other way” just find a better job to move to?
Where’s the evidence that Twitter employees are not left biased?
61
Are you saying they hide their preference by giving money to the Democrats?
14
try to follow..
secretive –> imaginary..
12
I’m not sure that’s very well “illustrated” at all. Dodgy as it is, it’s not nearly as dodgy as the Aussie polls. 1000 people — more or less — the ones who don’t hang up, the ones who give their more or less honest answers to the pollsters. 1000 people in a country of 25,000,000. And on this basis political leaders have been toppled.
Oh, wait a minute. I’ve been a bit slow on the uptake, haven’t I? Now I see what you mean about statistically useful. In sed parlance:
s/statisic/politic/g
, and it makes perfect sense.30
Agree… even I was not convinced by my arm waving. Something is missing as I’m sure Amazon et al are spending much more than those amounts for both parties to buy favour
13
Seriously, trying to play down the fact that a vast majority of twitter employees are very left or far left.
Very funny attempt at pointless distraction.
91
If one, and only one of the social media companies is different and out of lockstep with the blue cheks, it is fair to expect a result similar to what one sees with one, and only one out of step cable service. Roughly speaking, half the audience in one place. and the other half split among the rest. As to the fears of criticism of Tesla, it’s market position and obvious leadership can withstand a lot; its buyers are a niche probably immune to twitter flames, and what better way for Musk to prove his bona fides to a world where the left’s smear merchants are already cranked up to bring him down. Staff issues may well be overdrawn; the man is a proven leader and it is likely that outside of a few bad apples the workers are sheep; a few staff meetings with a messianic leader and they’ll be on board with the big M’s vision: that’s what leadership is. How do you think a CEO moves a company with 50,000 employees- Think of a GE before and after Jack Welch.

“Apoplexy!: MSNBC host warns that Musk could use Twitter to silence candidates and influence elections.”
Oh no, they suspect that Musk might do what they’ve been doing for years.
70
I’m no computer nerd, so I don’t know if this is possible. The USA left is in absolute meltdown mode at the moment. It seems anything to stop Musk could be possible. Is there a ‘doomsday’ software device that could be placed in the Twitter coding that could be activated to destroy the entirety of the coding underlying Twitter if the left see they can’t stop Musk.
10

” Twitter will have to adapt to our European regulations which do not exist in the United States,” EU commissioner Thierry Breton told AFP.”
Musk- “Where the hell is Europe and who are they? oh, you mean West Russia!”
This is the guy who blitzed the vast Govt Dept called NASA and left them as dust below his chariot wheels, all against the greatest odds the mainstream politicians and corporations could throw at him. He built the most amazing company that performed feats never even dreamed of before, as anyone who has seen a pair of boosters drop out of space and land side by side can testify.
Twitter will be in for a massive shakeup, it will be great to see!
20
If Elon Musk succeeds in making twitter less partisan it will probably still be a sewer . Commenting on twitter does not require logic ,
honesty or truth . Its format does not encourage nuance or explanation . I have not been using it as it has tended to be a pile – on from low information individuals . Time will tell .
