Germany is getting more medieval by the minute
In the latest news the Cities and Municipalities Association is urging local officials to plan for public halls to be used as emergency “warm up spaces” when winter comes. With families needing to find an extra €3,800 to pay the energy bills many people won’t be able to afford electricity or gas.
Welcome to the renewables future where lights are dimmer, there’s no hot water at schools and public swimming pools are closed, but town halls are open so people can survive the night.
Renewables supply nearly half of German power demand in first half 2022.
Germany’s Center for Solar Energy and Hydrogen Research Baden-Württemberg (ZSW) and the Federal Association of Energy and Water Management (BDEW) said on Monday that renewables had covered around 49% of gross domestic electricity consumption over the period.
The claim of “half” is still inflated. If we remove hydroelectricity and biomass, in the last six months all forms of wind and solar power have produced 35% of the electricity (on a random come-and-go basis).
Meanwhile in related news Germany has some of the most expensive electricity in the world at 35c/KWh (USD).
Germany Plans ‘Warm Up Spaces’ in Response to Gas Shortages
Paul Joseph Watson
Cities across Germany are planning to use sports arenas and exhibition halls as ‘warm up spaces’ this winter to help freezing citizens who are unable to afford skyrocketing energy costs.
Bild newspaper reveals how the the nation’s Cities and Municipalities Association has urged local authorities to set aside public spaces to help vulnerable citizens in the colder months.
Germany has already seen its gas supply from Russia significantly restricted as a result of its support for sanctions and the war in Ukraine.
“We are currently preparing for all emergency scenarios for autumn and winter,” Jutta Steinruck, the city mayor of Ludwigshafen told Bild, where the Friedrich-Ebert-Halle arena is about to be converted into a warm up hall.
Meanwhile in Australia the CSIRO has modelled the long term energy costs and concludes that wind and solar are the cheapest and getting cheaper too!.
Next up: Germany calls for newspapers to return to printing paper copies so that people can stuff them in their boots for warmth.
460
maybe they’ll be able to use euro notes for that… those who will still have jobs, anyway.
271
Great idea, perhaps here in Oz, we can continue the world leading stupidity and even expand it by having ‘cool down’ spaces in summer.
280
I thought that’s what big shopping centres were for.
420
I can’t post the link because I am not a subscriber. But from Google:

110
Yes, pensioners in Oz have been doing that for years.
90
“Cool down” spaces at shopping centres might not work well in Germany. When I was living there during the 2003 heat wave, most shopping centres didn’t have any cooling, so inside was very warm.
00
How many Germans are going to dies this winter?
Which German politicians are planning [SNIP]?
[the problem is important the solution is also important. Geoff your point is made with your first sentence. Be careful with the other words please?]ED
51
Perhaps I am giving German politicians too much credit for enacting a plan. I find it hard to believe they are this silly. Running out of methane means collapse of their economy. They have known about their dependence on Russia for many years.
What did they think was going to happen?
81
Classic case of someone else’s problem. They knew what was going to happen, they just ‘hoped’ in wouldn’t happen until after they had lined their pockets. It’s the same logic that drives stock market booms.
Plus good old group think/herd mentality…Everyone else is doing it.
30
They’d have to return to printing both sides of the story to get enough paper in one issue
10
The stupid, it burns
160
Well actually.. the “stupid” seems to cause freezing. ! 😉
240
The CSIRO may still have some legitimate scientists somewhere, but the people who decided that wind and solar are the cheapest and getting cheaper are certainly not of that cadre. I used to be proud to say I have worked at the CSIRO, now, not so much.
as for Germany, at least someone seems to be thinking about winter, even if it’s likely to be too little, too late for some people.
650
‘Meanwhile in Australia the CSIRO has modelled the long term energy costs and concludes that wind and solar are the cheapest and getting cheaper too!.’
CSIRO research process.
1. Assume a market deliberately skewed in favour of renewables by the existence and operational parameters of the AEMO as an unquestioned premise.
2. Disregard the opportunities of nuclear power, coal and natural gas.
3. Disregard the economic, social and human costs of grid failure.
4. Consult Head Honcho for the expected result.
5. Prepare Microsoft Excel spreadsheet, add pre-defined goal, add data, massage data until seeked goal achieved.
6. Add label ‘Science,’ to spreadsheet.
7. Contact ‘Communications Dept,’ to publish result.
8. Buy extra-large coffee.
9. Commiserate with co-worker about the state of modern science.
10. Lace coffee with vodka from hip flask.
11. Trudge back to work.
12. Surf internet.
13. Wait for next ‘science,’ assignment.
14. Watch clock and wait for pension age.
741
Australia could solve all these problems in one simple step: replace the chief scientist with someone who stands up for science.
550
That will not happen until a large country goes cold and people die. Could happen this coming boreal winter.
What Germans are gradually realising is that they cannot make so-called “renewable” stuff with make-believe energy. Making stuff requires real energy.
Unless you are paying a premium for a brand, most of the things we buy today reflect the cost of energy that went into their manufacture, transport and retailing. 1kW of solar panels retails about $1000. That embodied 10t of coal at old prices. Their price will increase now because coal price is going up but not so much in China on average because they mine most of the 4Gt they use in China and Mongolia.
If you had to build a solar panel from the energy it produced, the cost would be closer to $10,000. Then if you had to produce the next generation solar panel from the energy that version produced, the cost would be $100,000. The panels would need to last about 100 years to enable a sustainable energy returned on energy invested.
It is interesting to see how fundamentals are gradually emerging. The mass delusion is breath taking. I can see how Hitler got as far as he did.

One problem with the CSIRO GenCost report is that they don’t appear to have used spreadsheets. If they had, then the assumptions would surely be visible and able to be checked and debated. Instead, I believe that modelling was used, and the many assumptions hidden within the body of the models.
I doubt that the CSIRO will ever release the model code.
280
Hey, this is another problem with the CSIRO. Everything it does, except for any direct defence work, obviously, should be completely in the public domain. There are lot of things I would criticise in the USA, but most of its agencies publish on the internet far more information, reports and studies than our governments do. Even US defence publishes a pile of material for general access!
180
And the CIA publishes country profiles, with the spies there to get it right.
100
Are they right?
20
And, the Gen Cost Report is supposed to be updated each year. So, CSIRO, where is the 2022 Year Report? The last Report was dated June 2021.
50
I believe that it was recently released John. That’s why it’s in the news a lot right now. The early versions were drafts.
00
That would explain the stupid assumptions if they have used models, GIGO.
110
Worse still, for many of the basic calculations, they deferred to another organisation, but didn’t provide any references to where this organisation’s data and calculations could be viewed.
00
The solution is simple. CSIRO must be forced to have its facilities powered only by wind and solar. In Canberra, when the grid is drawing power from NSW to make up the shortfall it must disconnect from the grid. It should, and must, lead by example.
And the same at its other facilities around the country. When the wind isn’t blowing or the sun isn’t shining, it must survive on batteries that saved excess electricity when renewables were generating enough power. Its management must do the same, as must its Minister.
220
Hang about William. The scientists at the CSIRO are important people not like you and me. They have needs that must be met and if that means coal fired electricity then they just have to grin and bear it. You and I on the other hand are plebs and must bear the cost of first rate research designed to find what the government paid for.
160
And here is the resulting CSIRO Report confirming ‘renewables are still the cheapest’ from June 2021 –
https://www.csiro.au/en/news/news-releases/2021/csiro-report-confirms-renewables-still-cheapest-new-build-power-in-australia
Maybe it’s time for everyone to write to the CSIRO Communications Advisor requesting an explanation as to why their Electricity Bill keeps going UP and not DOWN in billing dollars and cents. At the moment, their Report makes no sense (cents) whatsoever.
160
I have just fired off a request for an explanation as to why my power bill isn’t going down as power gets ‘cheaper’.
140
John. I wrote to Mr Kachel, the communications guy. Strangely you cannot copy what you wrote so I took photos instead.
The query is as follows:Dear Nick. If wind and solar are so cheap why is my electricity getting dearer as more wind and solar is added to the grid? I also wonder why subsidies are still being paid to largely foreign owned wind farm and major solar owner/operators if wind and sun are both free. I note this morning at 0900 wind and solar were producing next to nothing and the major share of the supply was from black coal, brown coal and gas.
Did the CSIRO take into account the cost of transmission lines connecting dispersed intermittent suppliers? Did it include the cost of subsidies to the consumer? Did it include the cost to the environment of obtaining the rare earths used in the manufacture of renewable equipment? Did the CSIRO include the cost to the environment of loss of bats and birds, including raptors being killed by turbine blades? Does the calculation include the cost of demolition and recycling of wind turbines, batteries and panels at the end of their ten to fifteen year life? Did the research include the fact that the current coal generators last four times longer and contain a fraction of material compared to renewable installations
producing an equivalent amount of 24/7 power?
I will let you know if and when he replies.
240
John S, that’s a reference to the DRAFT GenCost report, not the recent (final?) Report.
00
‘Meanwhile in Australia the CSIRO has modelled the long term energy costs and concludes that wind and solar are the cheapest and getting cheaper too!.’
The CSIRO are paid up members of the global conspiracy to undermine our standard of living.
I would like to see the numbers that show S&W are cheaper when transmission lines, some sort of storage, firming, gas backup, replacement of generators every two decades, etc, etc is accounted for.
180
This. The cabal have completely captured all institutions and political schemers, except Trump obviously.
160
Actually, the process is even simpler than that:
(1) Choose research topic.
(2) Check what the current Progressive Left position on the matter is.
(3) Design research to support/confirm (2).
90
Choose suggests an act of free will. There is no such thing as free will when your job depends on making the right choice of research topic.
60
I wonder if the CSIRO took into account, when doing the math on cheap renewables, the recently announced requirement for 12 billion dollars worth of new transmission lines to connect the new renewables to the grid. This to be paid for by the customers & not the generators who need these lines to be able to sell their product.
120
I hope they have a mild winter in Europe, it could get very ugly. We comment here in Oz but many of us have no idea what it like to live in serious cold, let alone without reliable and adequate heating.
231
Houses in areas that freeze do not respond well to a lack of central heating. I would love to see a grand design program revisit on the sustainable designs. Particularly those with flat roofs, solar panels and thermal mass type heating. With the last one they would probably be using their house to create permafrost.
Let us hope for a mild short winter. As John L Daly proposed, an ice age may occur without a drop in average temperature, just slightly below freezing minimums and a maximum not warm enough to melt the ice and snow taht lay on the ground.
130
The current phase of glaciation began 500 years ago. That is when the Southern Hemisphere began getting less sunlight and the northern hemisphere more.
The northern hemisphere is currently warming up of average while the southern ocean is cooling:
https://1drv.ms/u/s!Aq1iAj8Yo7jNhFzCATi2JCEkwR8t
This is just due to orbital changes.
Despite the NH warming on average, the boreal winters are getting less sunlight, which means that snowfall will increase and eventually accumulate. Once it accumulates it remains highly reflective so the land tends to cool on average despite increasing sunlight.
The South Pole gets the highest daily average sunlight of anywhere on the globe during December at the present time but remains ice because there is no way that 2.000m of ice will melt in a month. The same will occur over an increasing portion of the northern land masses. Once the ice gets thick in a winter, it will gradually accumulate and glaciation just progresses southward. Greenland and Antarctica are current examples of iced over land.
As the ice accumulates, it gets colder due to the lapse rate. A 2,000m high ice mountain will be around 20C cooler than sea level around it. The average surface temperature drops off.
Earth’s orbiotal precession dominates glaciation. The boreal winters have been in a cooling phase since 1500 and the winters will be coldest in 9,500 years from now. That will be the peak of accumulation.
140
Think you mean 2km of ice Rick, unless you are using the European thousands indicator.
10
“I hope they have a mild winter in Europe, it could get very ugly. We comment here in Oz but many of us have no idea what it like to live in serious cold, let alone without reliable and adequate heating.”
I don’t, I hope they have a freezing winter, for the simple reason these climate clowns got voted for by somebody, the sooner it is realised this lunacy isn’t going to work, the sooner we can get back to some sort of sanity.
120
It will take a freezing winter to wake the dummies up. Don’t forget that a majority voted for the madness so should suffer the results of their decisions. Politicians have to suffer the consequences of their decisions and that can only happen at the ballot box. They have to be scared of losing their cushy jobs and bureaucrats must also be part of the great clean out.
90
CSIRO is doing a lot of damage to Australia. It is cheer leading Climate Change and Energy Transition in a highly destructive way.
I used their complaints procedure to advise them that their climate models are not predicting anything like reality and they replied that their ACCESS model was middle of the road. Reality no longer matters. They did say they no longer predict beyond 2100. Their CMIP5 model has the Nino34 region hitting 40C by 2300. No open ocean can sustain more than 30C so it is clear nonsense. This is what their model produced:
http://climexp.knmi.nl/data/icmip5_tas_Amon_CSIRO-Mk3-6-0_rcp85_190-240E_-5-5N_n_su_+++.png
The actual measured temperature has trended down 0.1C in the last 40 years that satellites have been used to assess the surface temperature.
I have found that very few people realise that open oceans cannot sustain more than 30C. Pointing this fact out is the simplest way to explain why catastrophic global warming is a demented fairy tale. Anyone cheer leading this nonsense is in no way a scientist. They are a cultist.
240
I was a mariner for 20 years and noticed the 30C effect without appreciating it. From memory, no Admiralty publication ever listed long term observation of any open ocean surface temp above 29C. On the other hand, the Persian Gulf, which is practically land locked, gets up to 35C in summer. I recall it being miserable at 3am in September. Radiant humidity.
RickWill, is the inability of the open oceans to sustain over 30C due to energy release through evaporation, wind ocean circulation and emission of long wave radiation? Why is 30C the magical number?
110
Something to do with clouds forming above the warm water and filtering out further heating radiation if I remember RickWill’s past remarks correctly; but I do forget his explanation as to why the Persian Gulf behaves differently.
20
Persian Gulf is easy. Practically land locked, with no major flow in or out, the water cannot lose heat via circulation.
00
This single page gives you all you really need to know about Earth’s climate:
https://1drv.ms/u/s!Aq1iAj8Yo7jNhF-huKqOojvwFtXa
Sunlight comes in and some gets reflected. The heat engines, called deep convection, that drive the global circulations literally run out of steam at 30C surface temperature. The surface is the hot end of a heat engine at 303K when full throttle with the cold end at about 230K. Carnot efficiency is 24%. The engine at full bore produces 11W/m^2 of usable work. That is called Convective Available Potential Energy before it does its work. You see lots of CAPE developed over warm water.
https://earth.nullschool.net/#current/wind/surface/level/overlay=cape/orthographic=-276.13,-0.46,388/loc=91.719,7.906
Deep convection gets disrupted near land due to mid-level divergence interfering with the cycle. Persian Gulf is the best example but it is most evident year round off Lae in the Bismark Sea. If you look at temperature plot you will see a few bright red spots around PNG and Indonesia. The land heats quicker than the oceans and draws mid-level moist air to the land – hence very high level of rain in PNG, Malaysia and Indonesia.
The Persian Gulf works differently because the deserts to the north supplies high level dry air from the desert that prevents a Level of Free Convection forming. This means the convecting column over the oceans to the southeast win out in the atmopheric tug-of-war.
Normally 30C base temperature is all she has and that limits anvil tops to about 14km. Over land, the base temperature can be higher and the CAPE can reach very high values capable of producing large hail stones in the powerful updraft.
40
And I stand corrected.
Thank you RickWill!
10
CSIRO is the propaganda tag of choice in Oz and used much like NASA in the USA. They have a reputation in the general public to be uncorrupted and provide a shield for whatever Global nonsense they produce. NASA’s Global warming division has little to do with NASA it is just a branding exercise. Nothing to look at here folks, we don’t need to provide our detailed methodology.
Laugh chuckle fall about.
60
The CSIRO gave up being science based years ago when they sacked that bloke for coming to the wrong conclusion. The CSIRO finds what the government pays it to find. They are so imbued with the global warming bug that their agricultural department stated a decade ago that it need not research the effects of cold since it would never be cold again.

The “renewables” obviously include hydroelectricity.
A minor quibble but how much is pumped storage? Otherwise they should count the water as used once, like coal, oil and gas.
120
Looking at the Ontario Map above by cadger for Ontario at 87g Carbon Intensity (gCO₂eq/kWh) renewables must include Nuclear
vs Germany 453g Carbon Intensity (gCO₂eq/kWh)
vs Russia 328g Carbon Intensity (gCO₂eq/kWh)
vs Queensland (Australia) 720g Carbon Intensity (gCO₂eq/kWh)

I regularly ask Leftists:
Without coal, gas, nuclear and real hydro power (noting that places like Kaliforniastan are dismantling all four, others are “only” dismantling the first two or three);
How are non-Elites meant to keep warm with an energy grid based on wind and solar?
I have never received a serious answer.
It is an admission that they know S&W doesn’t work for its claimed purpose of replacing legitimate generation. (And we also know it doesn’t work due to the failed experiments of Flinders and King Islands in Australia).
Not only that, it is working EXACTLY AS INTENDED because it’s true purpose is not to replace legitimate power sources but TO DESTROY WESTERN CIVILISATION.
In Australia, except in Alpine areas where hardly anyone lives, people are merely cold and miserable without power as it doesn’t tend to go sub 0C/32F, but in northern Europe, northern US and Canada, people actually freeze to death if they can’t keep warm.
Of course, it’s not just the ability to keep warm that is destroyed, it’s the economy in general. Because our whole civilisation is based on the availability of affordable, reliable energy which is not provided by S&W.
410
I’m hoping this climate lunacy here locally comes to a head in this three year term of the encumbent idiots now in Government. If the grid goes down and we experience State wide, or even city wide blackouts, that may make a few people sit up and think….or more correctly, a lot of people sit up and think and demand that we abandon the industrial grade stupidity. Germany trying to freeze its people to death may also help change a few minds as we wtch what happens over there next Winter.
Anyone with a functioning brain knows renewables cannot work…your example of King Island is a prime example. If they cannot work there on such a small scale, covering Australia with wind turbines and solar panels is simply utter madness.
370
Glenn, I’m afraid that if there is a major Australian grid calamity, the answer given will be that we simply “don’t have enough” solar, wind and Big Batteries.
We have no one in a position of significant power or influence who are knowledgeable enough or brave enough to say otherwise, including the shameful “engineering” profession who haven’t said a word against the unreliables madness in all these years
320
A bit harsh re the functioning brain I think. Most people don’t have any sort of tertiary STEM education (I suspect this is especially so in our political class) The average IQ (being generous) is around 100. People have been subjected to relentless propaganda and many think the various State Governments actually tell the truth. Combine with compulsory voting and we are were we are. Many will be genuinely surprised and angry when both the lies and the truth works its way out. Even then they may be able to obfuscate and spin it, Covid style.

I live near a large area of natural forest. I’ll bet all my neighbours along with me are eyeing it off for fallen timber to fuel our brand new very costly wood burning heaters. Ah the smell of burning wood will once more permeate our air. Back to pollution, respiratory illness, watering eyes…the great wonder of having medieval energy sources, we get medieval living conditions.
211
X2.. every word you said!
Actually, I’d like to see air-injection with a pair of oxygen sensors in the chimney and an after-burn setup to get every bit of energy out of the smoke. Even if it ran off a 12V car battery when the power was off. There must be lots of ways to improve the wood fire with modern tech, I ran one with a venturi and a pilot light on gas supply one time to clean up the smoke.
20
Our great grands would have run the chimney pipe nearly horizontal for the length of the building then out the roof or sidewall. Much more efficient with extracting heat from wood. Much more effort in keeping the chimney clean.

The only way this country will become an ‘energy superpower’, is to cut the stupid pretence and start allowing and encouraging private enterprise to ramp up gas and coal production. And stop subsidising any so-called energy production of a random, unpredictable, unstable, inefficient, costly, environmentally destructive and pointless nature. I’m thinking of the children.
70
If the German grid goes down, the “warm up centres” won’t be of much use either will they?
Here’s an idea:
Why don’t the people go down to an open pit coal mine such as the largest in Germany, the Hambach with an area of 43.8 sq km (as of 2017), get some coal for personal use, take it home and burn it? It’s a matter of life and death, I’m sure nobody will mind.
And guess who owns the mine?
RWE AG.
They are also the world’s number two in offshore wind power and Europe’s third largest in “renewables”.
160
I’ve often wondered why coal mines do not have a home supply unit. Buy a tonne of coal every winter. It burns well and gets very hot. And help out the trees into the bargain. WIN WIN.

NASA has also produced an interesting short video showing how the atmospheric carbon dioxide concentration changes during a year at:

Washington| Climate change is a greater threat to the Pacific than Chinese military aggression, said Defence Minister Richard Marles, although engagement with island nations in the region was central to deterring Chinese expansion.
Speaking at the Washington-based Centre for Strategic and International Studies think tank, the deputy prime minister said both the US and Australia needed to lift their game in the Pacific or risk “catastrophic failure”.
He said Australia had “dropped the ball in the Pacific”, but there were opportunities to lift the game by partnering with island nations, especially on climate change.
“Climate change is absolutely the biggest issue which faces the peoples of the Pacific. It’s an existential issue, and it is felt viscerally within the Pacific,” Mr Marles said.
“The Pacific has been clear in saying that geopolitical competition is of lesser concern to them than the threat of rising sea levels.
“Australia respects and understands this position,” he said.
Flanked by Australian Defence Force chief Angus Campbell and Australian ambassador to the US Arthur Sinodinos, Mr Marles said Australia was “back at the table in terms of global leadership, around action on climate change”.
“We are back in terms of our global advocacy. We have a responsibility to help the Pacific tell its story as countries on the front line of climate change,” he said.

Dear God he’s embarrassing!!

What is needed is for the UN to impose a massive CO2 tax on China, supported by Fiji, Australia, New Zealand and the Solomons. And double on Chinese munitions. They will think twice about invading countries with a really punitive taxation disincentive.

Albanese to promise ‘new era’ on clean energy supply
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese will call on Indo-Pacific leaders to use soaring investments in renewables to diversify and secure critical supply chains, shoring up development of clean energy in the region while protecting against geostrategic risks such as Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ahead of a visit to Fiji for talks with the leaders of Pacific nations, Mr Albanese will call for new regional co-operation on clean technology manufacturing and secure supply, in an effort to deal with climate change and build economic prosperity.
He will tell the Sydney Energy Forum on Tuesday that the Indo-Pacific region is the leading target for private investment in clean energy around the world, accounting for nearly 80 per cent of global spending in 2021.
Mr Albanese will say if the world is to reach net-zero emissions by 2050, spending on clean energy must increase by more than threefold.
“If we empower businesses, scientists, engineers, workers, and the private sector to work together across our region, we can unleash investment and innovation in clean energy at a scale we have never seen before,” he will say.
The event is co-hosted by the Australian government and International Energy Agency. Mr Albanese will say Australia needs to better utilise its supply of rare earths and critical minerals such as aluminium, lithium, copper, cobalt and nickel.

David, I often wonder why bayside councils in Melbourne keep installing bike lanes. The MAMILs invariably prefer to ride on the main road. And what a sense of self-entitlement that particular group enjoys.

Germany is now a real time experiment in how ‘cheap’ and ‘efficient/reliable’ these ‘Renewables’ are in Building the ‘Build Back Better’ Electricity Grid. Or, is that ‘Build a lot Worse’ than the ‘old fashioned’ Electricity Grid run by Engineers who know how an Electricity Grid really works.
What a great lesson for Albo and Bowen and for them to go on a proper fact finding mission to Germany to see what is going wrong. BIG TIME!!

Make them go in the European winter and have them billeted with ordinary working class families.
70
Heh Leftoids!
I am STILL waiting for an example of where this “incredibly cheap” wind and solar has resulted in lower consumer electricity prices.
Every genuine example I know of follows Maddison’s Law:
As more wind and solar subsidy farms are installed, consumer electricity prices also increase in proportion*.
* Note, I am not yet sure if the relationship is linear (in proportion) or exponential as No one yet can genuinely claim 100% wind and solar.
210
Me too David. That is all I am waiting for. Cheaper electricity because of all the W&S. Then I will believe them and switch sides. Simple. Not too much to ask really.
160
If you ever do get an answer you can ask one for me. Pick any location on the globe and any date within the past 200 years. Tell us what the climate was then and what it is now.
40
Their argument is that failing coal and gas generators are driving the price up and causing unreliability in the grid. An each way bet of course since who caused the unreliability by handicapping FF generation investment?
20
Don’t hold your breath.
Weird the way we have these commentators who will jump in at a moment’s notice to offer sad self-affirming one upmanship on some issue that doesn’t matter all that much, but generally fail to meet any real challenge.

Germany is getting more medieval by the minute. This is what the WEF is planning for us all. Heading for a society based on a feudal structure with a toiling peasant base barely surviving on the basics whilst their NWO overlords live the high life sustained by life’s luxuries. Time to snap out of it folks. Wake up and wrestle your God given freedom back while you can.
160
“Meanwhile in Australia the CSIRO has modelled the long term energy costs and concludes that wind and solar are the cheapest and getting cheaper too!”
I have modeled the long term cost of federal government and found it could be reduced to zero simply by eliminating all staff. The functions absolutely necessary could be performed by intermittent bureaucrats provided on loan by the states. No consideration need be given to whether or not required folks would be available when needed as the wide distribution of states and vast numbers of available folks mean all needs would certainly be covered.
And models are always right.

Love it, or we could outsource them to China or Bangladesh.

Sky News’ Chris Kenny nails the Albo and MSM loonies when they tell lies about their so called Climate change and what fantasies they will introduce to fix future floods and droughts etc.
This recent 8 minute video is brilliant and what a pity this couldn’t be shown to schoolkids across Australia instead of the brainwashing and lunacy they now have to endure every week of every year.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese says his government is finding a “long-term solution” to increased flooding by changing Australia’s position on climate change.
“Australia has always been subject of floods, of bushfires, but we know that the science told us that if we continued to not take action globally on climate change then these extreme weather events would be more often and more intense,” he said.
“And what we’re seeing, unfortunately, is that play out.”
Well, Albo. Guess what. Floods and Bushfires in past years have been much worse.
The January 1939 Bushfires in Victoria is just one example where 75% of the State was effected to some extent (by fire, smoke, etc.). 71 people died when the population was far less than what it is now.
There were also major bushfires in the 1800s.
The Hawkesbury River has flooded at much higher levels in the past. The river at Windsor reached a peak height of 19.68 metres in 1867. The highest on record since 1799.
So, where is this ‘science’ that you talk about? The ‘science’ from Tim Flatulence and others of his ilk? The UN?
We really do need some proper science with all of this. And we need it now to nip this Climate Change Alarmism in the bud once and for all. Will we get it? NO!

Australia is following Germany down the ruinable path of renewables.
In the last 12 months, on average across the AEMO grid, solar 13.4%, wind 12.1%, hydro 7.9%.
But what happens when solar and wind double their intermittent output?
60
Twice zero is still zero.
50
Amazing that we now have the Marles idiot telling us that their climate change lunacy is now a greater threat to the Pacific than China.
How or WHY do we elect these fantasists just so they can waste billions $ down the drain FOREVER and wreck our electricity grids as part of their plan?
110
He’s absolutely right: “Their climate change lunacy is a bigger threat than China”. Please note the difference than actual climate change and “their climate change lunacy”. The ideologues driving this garbage is THE BIGGEST THREAT to society in these times, but the average punter is too stupid to see it. They have created a corrupt leadership elite in most developing countries who will sell out anything to get their hands on more handout money from so-called rich countries, a corrupt leadership elite in most “rich” or “developed” countries who will influence investment through legislation in the direction where their personal “investments” sit (do you hear me, Malcolm?), and a subservient burocrat-class that will provide the “right” data in exchange for their job security.
30
Here in Canada, we’re on that same death spiral to the Green Utopia, with the Trudeau government hell-bent on shutting down fossil fuel usage ASAP. On the other hand, as should be instantly obvious to anyone smarter than the average Irish Setter (which apparently does not include anyone in that administration), most of Canada’s vast land mass is, unfortunately, essentially uninhabitable by human beings without the use of fossil fuels, which does rather make one wonder about our government’s motives.

Texas Authorities Urgently Beg Residents to Turn Off Air Conditioning Because There is No Wind to Power the Windmills
July 11, 2022 – Sundance
This is not The Onion or any form of spoof. This is real life, and it is happening today.
Amid a heatwave throughout most of Texas, The Electric Reliability Council of Texas, or ERCOT, is urgently asking Texas residents to conserve electricity because “it has projected a shortage in energy reserves Monday “with no market solution available.” Voluntary conservation is needed between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Monday.”

“Cities across Germany are planning to use sports arenas and exhibition halls as ‘warm up spaces’ this winter to help freezing citizen”.
Rhetorical question: Who will be paying to heat these spaces with high ceilings and bad insulation (meaning they require lots of money/heat to warm up)?
Indeed the citizens. So people will indirectly pay for this heating.
40
In parts of Europe they use waste steam heat from power stations for communal heating. Effectively it’s free.

Or more commonly heating is provided by other sources ie gas or coal furnaces, not electricity

CSIRO would fail Accounting 101. There is nothing cheap about renewable energy. It’s like me saying we’ll make the Vic Highway Patrol the most effective in the world by buying them 500 Lamborghini Aventadors as pursuit cars. And who pays?
Speaking of the Vicstapo PR geniuses, I decided to take my Outback for a quick spin yesterday since it hadn’t moved for 3 weeks. Down the coastal highway the first thing I passed was a huge roadside billboard stating in black and white THE POLICE WILL CATCH YOU. ANYWHERE. ANYTIME. ANYONE.
Er, don’t I have to commit a crime of some sort first? Or is thinking bad thoughts about Daniel Andrews enough to get me a 20 year jail term in Victoria?

BTW here’s the OWI DATA version of countries co2 emissions and I’ve selected Australia, Canada, the EU, USA and China. I hope this link works.
But why do Aussies always cop a belting, when Canada always gets off scot free?
BTW the USA today has the same emissions as 1973 and the EU the same emissions as 1964 and China co2 emissions are SOARING into the stratosphere.

Steam heating from communal boilers is not reliant on electricity. Germans are rich. They can afford to import some coal.

Meanwhile – Watch: NYC Releases PSA on Potential Nuclear Attack
On Monday, the NYC EMD released a minute-and-a-half long public service announcement bracing the city’s residents about what to do in the event that “the big one has hit.” Although the three-step PSA offers very little helpful information on what to do in the event of a nuclear fall out, even recommending that citizens keep their potentially radioactively contaminated clothing in a bag in their homes as opposed to throwing them outside, NYC EMD has assured that the risk of such an attack is low despite the release of the instructional video. “While the likelihood of a nuclear weapon incident occurring in/near New York City is very low, it is important New Yorkers know the steps to stay safe,” said city officials in an official press release.
The three-step process that NYC EMD advises is as follows: get inside, stay inside, and stay tuned.
40
..just part of the process of ‘normalising’ a nuclear war with Russia.

In Australia you can expect to soon start being conditioned to the idea that it’s “selfish” for non-Elites to expect to be warm or cool in their own homes.
In the southern fiefdom of Vicdanistan it won’t happen until after the November election when Comrade Dictator Dan will again be re-elected, however.

You will be locked down and have to wear masks again after November as well..

Maybe the Germans will have to invade somewhere to obtain resources? What was it called before the war? Lebensraum?

“will have to invade somewhere to obtain resources?”
Ukraine? 😉

I know Putin speaks German but that doesn’t mean he IS a German. Although I can picture him commanding a Waffen-KGB Panzer battalion in a peaked cap and a Stalin trenchcoat singing old Soviet war songs proclaiming Ukraine is MYkraine.

You’ll be encouraged (SARC) to hear that VP Kamala Harris will be a virtual attendee at today’s UNRELIABLE’s Energy forum in Sydney.
That should add some intellectual (?) muscle, but don’t hold your breath.
Their ABC have been yapping about this BS and fra-d all morning and their long list of speakers should bore everyone I’m sure.
The CSIRO chief scientist and Aussie Ex chief scientist Dr Finkel will be speakers.
I would love to be able to show that 1 minute video from Dr Finkel when he truthfully answered in the Senate that Aussies couldn’t make a difference. Even if we reduced our emissions to ZERO.
They could then quickly close down this idiocy and they could all go home and save Aussies tens of billions of dollars and cause no more damage to our electricity grid.

Germany has a total energy consumption of about 12.000 PJ. Renewables, which are solar, wind, bio and hydro, make up about 2000 PJ or 16% of the total energy consumption.
BUT! Germany uses only 2000 PJ in electrical energy, of which around 40% are renewables.
The article in question only states that for a short period of time, renewables made up half of electricity production which again is only 16% of total energy consumption.
20
We need an electricity market where generators have to actually make long term commitments to provide an agreed supply of electricity when needed at predefined rates and capacity. This would force intermittent generators to fill in their own gaps in generation or pay penalties if they can’t, rather than forcing everyone else to compensate for them. The current market mechanism does not value energy reliability, even though every single consumer values it greatly.
50
What you are talking about is referred to as a Capacity Market Mechanism. Many countries do exactly this. And in Australia the Energy Security Board has recommended this approach be taken. We can only hope.
