and where is our belove Lib Party at ? Are they going to go woke like the Vic LIbs have done, who now have higher co2 emission targets than the Dictator himself.

Dutton was suggesting a reset of position. I somehow doubt that is possible with the sheep in there. But we shall see. Our local Nat Party member is of very average intelligence, would just tow the line to whatever is going, not an ideas man, put it that way.

Sri Lanka Fell. What Do We Have to Do With It?

“The anti-growth environmental movement deserves much of the blame.”

“The proximate reason for the chaos is that the nation is bankrupt, suffering its worst financial crisis in decades. Millions are struggling to buy food, medicine and fuel. Between June 2021 to June 2022, food prices rose by 80 percent. Last month, annual inflation hit nearly 55 percent. Since the start of the pandemic, half a million people have fallen into poverty.

If you’ve never paid attention to the island country just off India’s southeastern coast, you might think this is just how it goes in developing nations. But the truth is that Sri Lanka had been gradually rebuilding itself—after decades of civil war and authoritarianism—and then this happened. We in the West had a lot to do with it.

The underlying reason for the fall of Sri Lanka is that its leaders—starting with former President Maithripala Sirisena and continuing with his successor, the recently deposed Gotabaya Rajapaksa—fell under the spell of Western green elites peddling organic agriculture and “ESG,” which refers to investments made following supposedly higher Environmental, Social, and Governance criteria. Sri Lanka has a near-perfect ESG score of 98—higher than Sweden (96) and the United States (51).

What does having such a high ESG score mean? In short, it meant that Sri Lanka’s two million farmers were forced to stop using fertilizers and pesticides, laying waste to its critical agricultural sector. (Never mind that Tesla has been booted from the ESG S&P Index, while Exxon Mobil is in the top ten. None of it makes much sense.)

To be sure, there were other factors behind Sri Lanka’s fall. Covid lockdowns and a 2019 bombing hurt tourism—an industry that usually generates between $3 billion and $5 billion a year. Sri Lanka racked up huge foreign debt, with China lending the country billions of dollars as part of its Belt and Road initiative. Transportation costs have rocketed 128 percent since May due to rising oil prices. And overall trends have not helped: Since 2012, growth has been declining.

But the biggest problem was Sri Lanka’s chemical fertilizer ban, which passed last year and was central to the country’s effort to comply with ESG.”

ESG is supposed to be about Sustainability…………….LOL

Yes….and compounded by the fact that Sri Lanka’s main source of tourists was Russia !!
And tourism income is the main source of foreign income.
So , thanks to USA triggering the Ukraine mess, that has totally screwed SLs foreigh trade income !

Another major reason for the fall was they had a fake currency. They pegged it, which only works if you set the peg correctly on the volume of imports and exports. Once they tracked their economy and exports they needed to devalue the currency but didn’t. Worse than that they started printing money to pay government workers, which is why they will almost certainly soon have zimbabwe style hyper inflation.

    Did you know?

In the 18th century, wealthy British estate owners used to hire men to act as ornamental hermits.
These men were paid to dress like Druids, be unshowered, wear tatty clothes, and wander around the grounds acting grumpy.

These days we call them climate activists.😄

In 1908 the New York Times ran an article about a dog in Paris who would push children into the Seine River in order to get treat rewards.

Analogies between this story and modern day health experts are entirely coincidental and unintended.😄

This is a call for some help really.

Everyone now knows that the term ‘baseload’ has been discounted for so long and so many times, that it’s not something that needs to be addressed. So, some of you may wonder why I (seem to) harp on endlessly about Base Load. The description I use (two words) and the description used by everyone who has discounted it are completely different. They use it as an adjective for coal fired power plants and for an ephemeral (well, to them anyway) power consumption that is non existent. I use it as the absolute minimum power consumption ….. on a daily basis, every day ….. since electrical power started to be consumed.

Here in Australia, that Base Load, the minimum daily power consumption averages out at 18,000MW each and every day, a little lower in Spring and Autumn (by around 1000MW absolute tops) and higher in Summer and Winter (by around 1500MW) and I have seen that minimum as high as 23,000MW. That 18,000MW is THREE QUARTERS of the ‘average’ daily power consumption. Now, even I know that you cannot use the term ….. average, when it comes to power consumption, because everything about it is an ABSOLUTE. It just has to be there, but averages are indicative.

    EIGHTEEN THOUSAND MEGAWATTS.

So, this is at 4AM every morning so no solar from either of the two sources of that. The four renewables deliver 4200MW of that 18,000MW. However, the Hydro part is 1900MW, and of that 60% of it is to keep just Tasmania going, because that’s all they have in that State. So, in actual fact, the four renewables part of that is now just 3000MW, so here we now have a gap between the four renewables and the absolute of that Minimum of 15,000MW.

So, you can already see the problem there.

I hear talk of ‘distributed’ power. I’m pretty sure it’s just a distraction, because when I ask those using that term what they mean by it, the answer is waffle, and I understand that. They don’t know, well, anything really, about power generation, and of more importance, how and when it is consumed, so they latch onto a term that they think makes them seem like they know something. My response might be along the lines of 18,000MW, distribute that!

Okay, then so where does all that power get consumed if everyone is tucked up tight in bed then? That’s a lot of power. Not that it matters, because according to greens Labor et al and all their oh so ardent supporters, it doesn’t even exist in the first place. But it’s there all right.

There are the usual 24 hour consumers you might think of, but perhaps the largest consumption of all is HVAC in every single tall building you see in every city across the nation, and perhaps far and away the largest of those would be the State Capitals. (HVAC is Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) And just look at any image of the Sydney skyline for an idea on how many tall buildings there are, and here, HVAC is in any building taller than three levels.

This HVAC consumes 40% of the building’s total power consumption, and that is in operation for 24 hours of every single day. You cannot turn it off, because Ventilation is the largest part of that HVAC (35% of it) and without ventilation running ALL the time, the building would be unusable, as it’s the only source of breathable air into the building.

Okay, here’s where I need some assistance please.

I contacted AEMO with a detailed request for information about HVAC with respect to Capital cities, and after a wait of around ten days, they got back to me and said they couldn’t help me as to actual numbers in the way of power consumption, and said it might be the province of each State to provide that data, but that even they would be hard pressed to give that sort of information. Why I wanted the information was that I was going to construct a Post about it, HVAC, with respect to that Base Load, as no one anywhere, seems to be considering it.

I’ve used every parameter known to man in search engine entry phrases, but I cannot seem to find much information at all, so perhaps with more eyes on it, someone might be able to find something for me.

    Okay, consider this then.

See that 18,000MW Base Load figure for all the AEMO coverage area.

Well, perhaps 3500MW of it is just being consumed in the Sydney area alone, and 3000MW in each of Melbourne and Brisbane.

    Distribute that!

    Tony.

      Hi TonyfromOz.
A very good question. Here in UK our base load is typically 20GW.
In Australia the 18GW is near ours.
The environment, infrastructure and population are quite different so accounting for contributions to Base Load in each case must be different but overlapping in some respects. Teasing the detail out is tricky.

My first thoughts are – Cities and High Rise HVAC – present in UK and AUS.
Secondly Aus has alluminium smelters I believe UK none I know of. How much KWhrs do they need to keep going day and night?
Next is environment generally requiring more AirCon in Aus I reckon because you have more need and more kit than UK. And much UK heating is direct from Gas and less electric. Water provision/management/distribution and Pumped Hydro may both be more in OZ than UK ( where we are surposed to get a lot of rain!)

Population figures (not to hand) but UK must have more folk than Oz so that must reduce demands to offset increases.

A few thoughts from the UK.

      Nick.

My friend lives in Houston and when the blackouts occurred in Texas a few years ago, he sent me a night photo of a fully lit empty high rise central Houston, surrounded by completely blacked out suburbs. I guess that’s what you mean. They kept the lights and heaters on in the city despite people freezing to death in their homes.

Other possibility is it has a backup diesel generator. You need to keep a load on these to stop the pistons glazing over. Since the computers might have been off perhaps it was though prudent to turn the lights on, this is what we did at a winery where I worked at when running the diesel genset.

It’s not just HVAC, but hot water. The amount of energy it takes to hear hot water is very high. A 400L hot water tank can take 16kwhours. There are 11 million homes. I would say hot water alone is probably on the order of 8GW at any particular moment at night.

CRISPR Fried Chicken: Genetically Engineered Hens Made to Kill Their Male Chicks

Each year, more than 6 billion male chicks are killed worldwide, up to 300 million of them in the U.S., as part of the industrialized egg industry

A team of Israeli scientists have filed a concept patent that involves genetically engineering hens to pass on a lethality, or killer, gene to male embryos, which would eliminate them before they hatch

Once the eggs are laid, blue light would then be used to activate the lethality gene and kill all of the male embryos in-ovo, or in the egg

This will likely be presented as a more “humane” approach, but it comes with significant risks, including to the hen, because the lethality gene is likely to produce highly toxic protein that could make the hen sick.

Because males cannot produce eggs, and don’t grow enough meat to make them useful for human consumption (as opposed to broiler chickens, bred to grow unnaturally large), they would cost more to raise than they would be “worth.” With complete disregard for life, egg producers therefore “cull” the males, or kill them off, shortly after birth, sending them to be used as pet feed, livestock feed or simply filler for landfills.

Its all misplaced moralism. The human mind questioning the morality of its own existence. And this makes it do stupid unnecessary things to solve the moral dilemma and in the process of solving it creating another.

But if they find that act so immoral, why not lobby to raise the males for some sub par product like stock cubes or whatever ? Maybe in can be done to some level of economy, I dont know, but if they care sp much then why not ?

Or if they want to be moralistic, what is the moral difference in killing the organism young than at 6 months or whatever it is ? It’s all the same end. So is it worth doing anything at all ?

Perhaps the only remaining option is to lobby governments for banning meats and breeding bugs.

Japan builds power plant using fermented gas fuel from cow dung.

This cow manure plant eliminates 13,500 tons of emissions, which is equivalent to reducing the operation of 2900 cars a year.

Anaergia, a global company dedicated to providing clean energy solutions using organic waste, will build a biogas plant using cow manure to produce renewable electricity. This factory will be built in Kasoka, Okayama, Japan, with the investor being Japanese company Toyo Energy Solution.

This cow manure plant is expected to help remove about 13,500 tons of CO2 emissions from manure and fossil fuels, equivalent to reducing the operation of 2,900 cars a year.

‘Waste, such as faeces, sewage biosolids, and leftovers, account for two-thirds of all emissions of methane, a greenhouse gas 85 times more dangerous than carbon dioxide. Stopping those emissions must be seen as a central strategy in limiting global warming,’ said Andrew Benedek, President and CEO of Anaergia. “The new bioenergy plant will not only help Japan reduce methane emissions from manure, but also help reduce the need for liquefied natural gas (LNG) in electricity generation. We hope to build more factories in Japan with our partner Toyo Energy Solution Co., Ltd. to help this country meet its carbon reduction targets’

250 tons of anaerobic cow manure per day from farms in Okayama Perfecture will be used as fermentation gas, helping to operate a system of cogeneration generators (combined thermal power, abbreviated CHP). Once fuel is introduced into the system, it will generate about 1.2 megawatts of renewable clean electricity. This amount of electricity is enough to serve about 2,200 households each year.

The nonsense about methane ss a greenhoise gashss groen from 21 in about 2008 to 85 (your figure). In actual fact CH4 absorbs no radiation from the Earths surface. When burnt one mole CH4 gives one mole CO2 and 2 moles of water vapour H2O. Water vapour absorbs at lesst 10 times (maybe 20 times) the radiation compared to CO2, hence the 21 times. However, methane doed not burn in the atmosphere and neither CO2 or H2O (or any gas) can radiate back to the surface from the 2nd law of thermodynamics.

        21 times ‘worse’ in 2007.
And John Tindall measured methane as absorbing 4.8 times Infrared than CO2 back in 1860/1.

Methane was 14 times ‘worse’ in the (from memory) 1990 IPCC script. But one of the ‘scare stories’ is that methane depletes the ozone layer as it reacts with it.

And, IF methane is really 85 times worse than CO2, a simple calculation shows that the increase in methane since WW2 would be responsible for nearly 50% of (claimed) Global Warming©.

Chemistry breakthrough offers unprecedented control over atomic bonds.

In what’s being hailed as an important first for chemistry, an international team of scientists has developed a new technology that can selectively rearrange atomic bonds within a single molecule. The breakthrough allows for an unprecedented level of control over chemical bonds within these structures, and could open up some exciting possibilities in what’s known as molecular machinery.

The research focuses on molecules known as structural isomers, which have the same atomic composition but different arrangement of bonds between those atoms. By using the tip of a scanning probe microscope to apply different voltage pulses, the team showed that they could selectively rearrange the chemical bonds. A molecule with a 10-membered carbon ring in the middle was able to converted into a molecule with a four- and eight-member ring, for example, or a molecule with two six-member rings in the center.

These reactions were also reversible, meaning the team could break and form the different bonds at will, and essentially switch between molecular structures in a controlled manner. This form of “selective chemistry” is described as unprecedented by the team.

My first thought is that it only looks off to people old enough to remember a time before mass medical neurosis, (the real ‘pandemic’) set, or was set into the population.
The first variant was climate neurosis.
Those old enough to remember culture prior to the 80s may have some immunity to climate hysteria.
Or old enough to remember the last 5 or 6 things that were going to ‘kill us all’ and didn’t.
GLOBAL EMERGENCY is the new modus operandi.

Plus, you are forgetting that open debauchery without age limitation is now considered a ‘human right’ by those in leadership of the WEF and the advertising departments of virtually every major international cooperation.

The human rights of free expression and self-defense, of course must be extinguished.

The variant, which was not identified, was discovered as part of the state’s effort to track wastewater samples to detect the virus’ spread. It has not been seen in other parts of the state.

“Health officials do not believe this variant is spreading in the community,” a DHS spokesperson wrote in a statement about discovery, adding that it currently poses a low risk to the community. The agency pledged to provide immediate updates if that changes.

    Not spreading or a risk.
    Just like Monkeypox wasn’t.

Looks like the Dengue is growing too with India reporting the increase in the more serious DENG2 strain.

The theory from those who wish to destroy modern society is that agriculture caused slavery, and access to cheap reliable electricity caused inequality.

I remember riding my 5-speed shiny Malvern Star bicycle to the Melbourne CBD to attend huge anti-nuclear rallies in the late 1970s as a teen. I had a Solar Not Nuclear sticker on my bike. Of course I knew nothing about energy politics then. I was no activist. It was simply something to do. What seemed like hundreds of stern-faced police lined these protests. There was lots of marching, waving of placards, shouting of slogans. It was probably indirectly organized by the Communist Party or the Club of Rome or similar.

Over 40 years later, the environMENTALists are still on the streets.

They seem to have a plan.

Claim: Offering a Premium for Reliable Energy Would Hinder the Green Transition

    Essay by Eric Worrall

Greens have claimed Aussie entrepreneurs are reluctant to invest in battery storage, because they are not sure of the timeline for shutting down coal.

Obviously it is ridiculous to expect renewable operators to deliver energy when people actually need it. But it is funny that even with the government in their corner, battery backup investors are so frightened of the possibility of a coal plant being switched on, they refuse to enter the market until they have a firm timetable for getting rid of coal.

The alleged number of severe side effects of the Corona vaccinations have been a bone of contention in politics and society for months. Data from the Paul Ehrlich Institute (PEI) have been available since the beginning of the vaccination campaign. Recently, however, even the Federal Ministry of Health (BMG) spread misleading information – and had to row back.

Claim: “One in 5,000 people is affected by a severe side effect after a COVID-19 vaccination,” wrote the BMG on 20 July 2022 in a tweet that has since been deleted.
The ministry of Health Minister Karl Lauterbach (SPD) commits two mistakes in the original tweet, which caused plenty of reactions in social media: It does not make it concretely clear that it is only about suspicious reports. It also confuses patients with the number of vaccinations.

The Paul Ehrlich Institute, which is responsible for monitoring vaccines in Germany, among other things, states in its latest safety report: In the entire period between the start of the vaccination campaign on 27 December 2020 and 31 March 2022, the reporting rate for serious reactions for all Corona vaccines combined was 0.2 reports per 1,000 vaccine doses.

Since many people in Germany have been vaccinated against the corona virus several times, the figure cannot be converted one-to-one to patients, as the BMG has done.

According to the PEI, an average of 5,000 vaccinations were reported to have possibly caused a serious side effect. The emphasis here is on “possibly”. Because these are only suspicious reports. According to the Institute, the recorded reactions are “often temporally, but not necessarily causally related to a vaccination”. Not every reaction is actually a side effect.

The PEI compares the suspicious reports with the statistical expectation in people without vaccination. If there is a significantly higher rate for a symptom, the institute assumes a risk signal. For example, the number of reports of sinus or cerebral vein thrombosis after vaccination with the Astrazeneca vaccine was higher than the expected value.
For months, opponents of vaccination have repeatedly tried to imply that very many people became seriously ill or died after a Covid vaccination by deliberately misinterpreting the official figures of the PEI or the European Medicines Agency (EMA), which is responsible at the EU level. But even the EMA only reports suspicions, no proven side effects.

According to the PEI, out of more than 178 million doses administered by the end of March, there were 116 reported deaths with a probable or possible causal link to the vaccination.

“Serious adverse reactions”, according to the Medicines Act, are adverse reactions that, among other things, are fatal or life-threatening, require hospitalisation or result in permanent disability.

    “The EU’s Green Experiment”

The GWPF has just released a new report, written by John Constable describing the economic impact of their green policies, and it isn’t pretty. Some highlights:

EU electricity prices to households are 80% above the rest of the G20, and EU industrial prices are 30% above the G20, natural gas prices to households are double the G20.
The high prices are likely responsible for a reduction in electricity consumption. This is not good since the quality of life is closely correlated to energy consumption. Energy consumption is also the main determinant of health and environmental quality.
Carbon dioxide abatement costs are many times higher than even the high-end estimates of the social cost of carbon, suggesting that the economic harm of the EU’s carbon mitigation policies is higher than the possible (or projected, if you prefer) cost of global warming.
Employment in European wind and solar industries has fallen since 2008, subsidies failed to add jobs in Europe, as the equipment is now purchased from China. The only area of renewable job growth is in biofuels, basically cutting down trees and making ethanol from food. Biofuels are also responsible for a lot of Europe’s toxic air pollution.
Has the EU learned anything from their failure and the suffering that they have imposed on their people? Nope, instead they appear to be doubling down on their bad policies.”

Otherwise why is it that NONE of this Climate Hysteria NONSENSE existed before the IPCC was set up by the UN.?

All in all it is a matter of the resurgence of Communism seeking the Global Levers of Power through the control of energy.

Sakurajima volcano (Kyushu, Japan): alert status raised from 3 to highest 5, large bombs up to 2.5 km from crater, evacuation ordered.

The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) raised the volcanic alert level from 3 (restriction on proximity to the volcano) to the highest 5 (evacuation from the danger zone), which is an unusual advance, as an above-average eruption occurred at 20:05 local time today. People had been already evacuated from the danger zone.
The intense explosion took place from the Minamidake Crater, showering the crater with incandescent lava bombs, of which a certain amount have been ejected up to distance of 2.5 km east of the crater (see an attached video below). An ash plume reached only 5,200 ft (1,500 m) altitude.
In addition, instruments registered the eruption precursor in the form of slight inflation of the edifice at about 19:00 local time today.
The warning bulletin states that ballistic impacts of volcanic bombs could affect a residential area of about 3 km distance from the main crater.

A significant uptick has been occurring worldwide for the past month.😉

Valid point Jo. The initial post deliberately does not touch any subjects that will have the posting identities removed (again) from youtube, twitter etc.

‘Iamjohncullen’ does not do anything other than report the John Hopkins and CDC data in a graphic format. These are placed in a historical context with the supporting narrative provided by the actors involved.

From the CDC database reporting ’cause of death’ he separates the pneumonia & influenza (P&I) deaths from the Covid only and compares this to the all cause mortality. Influenza is the big winner from their own recording system. These deaths occurred in the USA in a proportion that dwarfed the supposed Wuhan source. As an aside he finds the way the influenza deaths have been detached from the reporting system by inserting an equation that effectively reduces the ‘reported’ level of influenza deaths by two thirds.

Another data set presented is at the request of an Australian viewer who asks Cullen to investigate Australian data. Cullen finds a government database and graphically presents that the reported Covid deaths are in those over 60 YO and in contradiction to the proportion of the population who are women, the deaths are occurring principally in men.

I recommend you take the time to contact this person and have him present his data. I have not seen any better at this craft and I compare him to those I mentioned in my earlier post (correction for John L Daly). He was the person who claims to have constructed the reporting system having worked for Oracle ( Maps daddy. Cullen came to my attention with the obvious question as to why Fauci was not on a plane to Vietnam to find out why they were not recording any Covid deaths. He also identified the worldwide drop in the reporting of Influenza in weeks 11 to 14 of 2020 (with the exception of Cambodia) and believes it was his observation reported to Laura Ingram (Fox) which prompted Fauci in an interview on Fox into stating the Covid measures were responsible for eradicating influenza even when the CDC data showed a massive increase in influenza deaths during that period.

I could probably record the subscriber portion with the Authors permission and do it at 4X (risking copyright infringements from the Chipmunks).

This hypothesis merges with my experience, the conclusions mesh with historical references.

        Regards.

I wrote about the exaggeration of Flu deaths in the US which has been going on for years (they call it the estimated “burden” of influenza). https://joannenova.com.au/2020/05/beware-the-famous-flu-death-tally-is-highly-adjusted-and-coronavirus-is-still-10-times-worse/

Unlike Covid, almost no one with the flu got tested, so the estimate was always a wildly modelled guess and usually roped in other respiratory causes (possibly because it was easier to sell Flu vaxxes that way.)

Cullen would probably do well to read a basic textbook or two. Statistics without understanding mechanisms is only so useful.

Influenza did drop all over the West (See my post “Influenza cases are 85% down across 17 countriesMay 2020) but it was just textbook microbiology that I explained at the time. Influenza Ro was 1.4. Covid was 3 – 5. Obviously, anything that reduced the spread of covid would defacto reduce the spread of influenza, and even faster. It’s just maths. There weren’t as many restrictions in the US, and certainly few borders stopped the flow of viruses across states.

          10

          • #
            Broadie

Cullen gets ‘ornery’ with those who deny the existence, variants and transmission of the corona viruses. This narrative of his simply accounts for where the deaths occurred, when and what from on a reporting system predating and running concurrently to the pandemic and the measures employed to ‘flatten the curve’ and stop transmission.

Unlike Covid, almost no one with the flu got tested, so the estimate was always a wildly modelled guess and usually roped in other respiratory causes (possibly because it was easier to sell Flu vaxxes that way.)

The University of Washington Virology department has continued reporting the testing for Covid among those reporting flu like symptoms. The average has gradually risen as the variants follow the normal selection process as expected. And yes the common cold type virus is common compared to the seasonal flu. Despite that, we went front line unmasked through 2020 with a community busy shopping flat out at Bunnings, Woolies, Coles etc and with residents and family returning from all parts of the globe. We have since gone through the last 2 years with masking and isolation and with all levels of vaccinated and unvaccinated testing positive for the Covid, some are symptomatic and many were terrified but they do not die. This is in contrast to the here today gone tomorrow of some of those receiving an injection.

I find the narrative fits what I have read on your blog rather than the the Covid Pandemic missive delivered with the aid of someone on a podium with an assistant diligently attempting to sign off to one side.
