Interesting outcome in the Greek elections with the centre right winning a majority vote.
Subsequently read an article claiming that the rise of both the centre right and the far right was a threat to democracy. Makes you wonder ( not really) about what journalists know of history or language.
Demos:– Greek meaning the people..
So what we have is a threat to democracy by the very people that democracy is based on, you know, the general public.
The situation is absolutely laughable. The Greek centre right party wins the majority of the vote, over 40%. It gets this majority because the people, DEMOS, voted for it in the very home of the whole concept of democracy.
It appears that the real threat is letting the bloody plebs have the vote!
Also Sweden. Finland and Italy have installed ‘hard right’ parties. Both Poland and Hungary have reelected governments that the EU bureaucrats don’t like. France looks likely to follow and The Netherlands (if the WOKE try to destroy one of the major industries). And AfD has won a minor victory in Germany.
It seems higher prices, higher taxes, reduced living standards, and blackouts aren’t that popular with the general public.
What are the bookies odds on Dutton?
True. Its weird to live among some of them. They have whipped themselves up to a perpwtually fearful state awaiting the next directive from on high. Meanwhile life goes on for most.
The RAVAN satellite was apparently launched successfully in 2016. I have not heard anything about it. NASA say it will make a contribution to understanding global warming, but as far as I know they have not announced anything.
I probably not know how to interpret the data but David Evans might.
“Four radiometers, two gallium cells, and associated electronics were fit within a 1U payload accommodated on Blue Canyon Technologiesā first complete bus in space. The path to space was anything but linear, and several challenges had to be overcome before and after launch, but the radiometers ultimately showed excellent long-term stability over the course of the mission. Short-term variabilityāat greater than the tenths-of-a-watt/m2 needed for climate accuracyāis a challenge that remains, consistent with insufficient thermal knowledge and control on a 3U CubeSat. Technologies demonstrated by RAVAN have flown on subsequent missions, and RAVAN is an important benchmark for the development of science-grade Earth energy budget instruments on small satellite platforms.
“RAVAN will be launched into a 600 km altitude, 98.8 deg inclination orbit and spacecraft disposal is
accomplished through atmospheric reentry. The spacecraft is estimated to reenter in 7.2 years and is
compliant with the requirement to reenter within 25 years after mission completion or 30 years after
launch.”
Looks like all about the satellite but nothing about the experimental results. They obviously didn’t get results that matched the narrative..
RAVAN was a tiny cube satellite designed to fly for 18 months. It was a basically a complete failure..
It was meant to measure ingoing vs outgoging radiation down to a difference of 0.1% to be able to ‘see’ global warming. In the end it only achieved +/-0.5% on primary and +/-2% on secondary, both of which are basically useless.
It had a memory bus failure which meant it could only download instantenous data when it happened to be in radio range which means 95% of the data was lost.
It was really just a proof of concept to get another decade of funding. Last I heard they are on track to have 6 new cub-stats launching in 2026. Again these have a near zero chance of actually being able to measure global warming. But it will sent themselves up for another decade of funding and another crack around 2035 probably with a constellation of cube sats.
I suppose that means that RAVAN has crashed by now and that the data has not been released.
They (NASA) were attempting to show that the Earth is getting more energy in than goes out, which would be needed if the temperature were continually going up.
The Earth temperature is not going up so it is no surprise that the results are kept quiet.
RAVAN was surprised to measure emissions over a wide range of wavelengths which might have resolved some of the arguments about whether CO2 is a warming gas, or a cooling gas or has absolutely no effect.

Right there, in that statement is the answer to what this quest is about.
Amongst other things, it would be a massive job to identify every source that uses or reflects or sends back degraded energy to the nighttime cool of space.
For example, how much of that inbound UV is used to build and knit together the vegetation, grass, food plants and timber?
This analysis is not real; it’s an expensive joke.
Well one thing that they discovered was that they could not measure any difference. Once again the null hypothesis wins and global warming is a chimera. However they are not giving up because they do science backwards.
It looks as though the black carbon nanotube radiation collectors do not give a spectral analysis of the outgoing radiation.

“Just stop oil” streakers have invaded the pitch at Lords.
Broad from the Media centre end. Although there is a hold up. Two streakers have run on. With orange powder paint. It’s a Just Stop Oil protest. One has been tackled to the ground. He didn’t get near a player. Jonny Bairstow literally picked up the other protester and carried him off the ground. Bairstow has left the ground to change as his whites have been soiled. The ground staff are out on the ground to clean up the paint residue. Broad and Warner are having a chat.
Question?
Why did Bairstow stop at that?
Should he have continued and carried the whole Woke Aussie team out of the ground, skirts, smoking ceremonies and all?
I did notice that there was a fairly intense and robust discussion of Davidās post including some of the luminaries.
Will Janoskaās argument is similar to mine concerning the environmental lapse rate. It is about 6.5C/km due to the change of state of water which combined with atmospheric overturning in the troposphere conducts heat upward, from where it is radiated away to space from the cloud tops and by the radiative gases.
I have not yet have had time to read Davidās post again carefully.
The big issue in thermodynamics is to clearly define the boundaries of the situation and it isn’t being done.
Too often the debate, if we can call it that, descends into an analysis of things that are controlled by factors that are ignored.
The main example is the transmission of energy between atoms in the atmosphere, certainly under certain conditions various mechanisms operated, but in the reality of the air they don’t exhibit that mode of “sharing.
That’s just one there’s more.

Just stop tractors and trucks and ships and planes and cars
Just stop termites
Just top breathing

It was also notable in the last Test and this one that in the middle of a British summer, there is no problem.
It seems only summer is the problem with oil, gas, coal and wood. But I am sure even they would like a warmer winter.
Lovely weather for protesting though. Saving the planet and all that, if they can only get Smith out.
North Korea is really winning then, since they seem to have stopped almost everything already, and in some cases that includes breathing. Can we send the Just Stop Oil people over there?
Debris from doomed Titan sub – including nose with porthole for Titanic Five to view wreck
Debris from the Titan submersible that imploded on the bottom of the Atlantic as it tried to reach the wreckage of the Titanic has been hauled ashore.
The huge chunks of metal, including the nose with the porthole the five men would have used to see the Titanic, were unloaded from the Horizon Arctic ship at the Canadian Coast Guard pier in St John’s, Newfoundland, Canada, this morning.
They were quickly covered in large tarpaulins before being lifted by cranes on to trucks that took them away for assessment. The pieces included a large, white section of curved metal. Another object was full of cables and other mechanical parts.
Some of the sections which were pulled up appear to be parts of the sub’s external cover and its landing frame, which were reportedly among the first bits of Titan debris which were discovered.
IV therapy craze has Americans pumping vitamins into their veins: Results are ‘pretty dramatic’
While IV drip therapy has gained popularity as a trendy hangover cure and health trend, the practice of fueling the body with essential vitamins faster than an ingestible can has been around for decades.
IV clinic owners Dr. Pauline Jose (PH Drip Lab in California) and Dr. Christopher Neary (Prime IV, which has franchises around the country) shared with Fox News Digital the types of vitamin cocktails theyāve been serving up of late.
Dr. Jose, based in California, revealed that about 50% of the national population is deficient in some type of vitamin, which means there’s been a major demand in the supplement industry.

Suncor Energy cyberattack impacts Petro-Canada gas stations
Petro-Canada gas stations across Canada are impacted by technical problems preventing customers from paying with credit card or rewards points as its parent company, Suncor Energy, discloses they suffered a cyberattack.
Suncor Energy is the 48th-largest public company in the world, and one of Canada’s largest synthetic crude producers, having an annual revenue of $31 billion.
The company says it has taken measures to mitigate the attack and informed the authorities of the situation. At the same time, it expects transactions with customers and suppliers to be negatively impacted until the incident is resolved.

EncroChat takedown led to 6,500 arrests and $979 million seized
Europol announced today that the takedown of the EncroChat encrypted mobile communications platform has led to the arrest of over 6,600 people and the seizure of $979 million in illicit funds.
EncroChat phones ran a special, hardened version of Android that promised users unbreakable encryption, anonymity, and no traceability.
The service also provided message self-destruction features, panic device wipe, tamper-proofing booting, and a brute force resistant FIPS 140-2 certified hardware cryptographic engine.
These features were valued by criminals who wanted to communicate securely, so tens of thousands paid ā¬1,500 ($1,635) for a six-month subscription with global coverage and 24/7 support.
In 2020, a large-scale European law enforcement operation quietly infiltrated the EncroChat platform and was able to analyze millions of messages shared between its users after breaking the encryption algorithm.
Since then, police units in France and the Netherlands working in coordination with their peers in other countries have arrested 6,558 individuals, users of EncroChat, including 197 high-value targets.
This was made possible thanks to the analysis of 115 million conversations between roughly 60,000 users of the platform.
Utilizing this data, the police managed to locate and seize 270 tons of drugs, 971 vehicles, 271 properties, 923 weapons, 68 explosives, 40 planes, and 83 boats.
Additionally, law enforcement agents sized ā¬740 million ($807 million) in cash and froze another ā¬154 million ($168 million).

Three Typhoon Jets Landed Next to Thermometer When Britainās āRecordā Temperature of 40.3Ā°C Was Recorded
At least three Typhoon fighter jets were landing at RAF Coningsby around the time when the brief U.K. temperature record was declared at 15:12 on July 19th last year from a measuring device situated halfway down the runway. Following a Freedom of Information request, the Daily Sceptic has obtained portions of the log books of four pilots flying from the base that afternoon, casting considerable doubt on the record that made headlines around the world.
At 15:10, the temperature suddenly jumped by 0.6Ā°C to hit the 40.3Ā°C record at 15.12. Within 60 seconds, the record temperature dropped back by 0.6Ā°C. At the time, the Met Office claimed that verifying the record had been a ārigorous processā and that all data was accurate.

It is about 6.5C/km due to the change of state of water which combined with atmospheric overturning in the troposphere conducts heat upward, from where it is radiated away to space from the cloud tops and by the radiative gases.
I have not yet have had time to read Davidās post again carefully.

Hi Peter,
The big issue in thermodynamics is to clearly define the boundaries of the situation and it isn’t being done.

Sadly, Will Janoschka is no longer with us.

Seeing the nutty behaviour of the Just Stop Oil protesters, you have to wonder after yesterday’s graph if they have the other shirts printed already.
Just stop Gas
Just stop Coal
Just stop Wood
and don’t forget
Just stop Nuclear. (Even though the new story is that nuclear is emissions free? Which is a really strange statement.)
then
Just stop Dams (hydro)
Just stop animals sheep and cattle and pigs and goats but cats and dogs are fine as long as they are vegetarians.
Just stop tractors and trucks and ships and planes and cars
Just stop termites
Just top breathing
*Except for China and India and Indonesia and Nigeria and Pakistan and Asia and South America and Africa and Russia and all the Stans and Korea

Days late now, but the NAB banking issue hit all major banks simultaneously but not the smaller ones.
Why wasn’t that reported?

When you take something orally, it’s not always absorbed 100%,” she said. “When you do it either intramuscularly or intravenously, through the vein, it’s absorbed almost 100%.”
“What we’re doing is allowing high, targeted levels of nutrients to be delivered into the cells of the body without interference or issues with the digestive system,” he said.

And minor flood watch for our area. Oh what to do? Believe the BoM and keep the big lake up the road at near capacity ( currently about 98% ) in case the weather suddenly warms and dries or try and make capacity in case the weather stays wet and cold.
Time for that old tautology, caught on the horns of a dilemma

Daughter reports about 8 inches of rain in home area! Yuk…tempted to stay in Dubai (42.5C yesterday afternoon, didn’t check any other time). The big lake near us is far too full for the time of year.

Stay there Annie. Regardless of what the BoM predict I can tell you first hand, cold and wet. More rain expected over the next few days with one day next week expected to ābe warm and dryā. The low paddocks are all water logged and all billabongs are full to overflowing. On the bright side it will once again be a bumper season for ducks!

Mulling over the revelation from a few days ago, that P Fitzroy has made 4400 contributions to this site. I reckon that’s a big win for feelings over facts. He’s been exposed to all the arguments, and it hasn’t moved him. Abuse can be yelled, and rational arguments just won’t cut it. It’s easy to clutch other alternate studies to the bosom.
What else can be said, except let’s see how reality pans out.
I’m leaning a bit philosophical – we can have every dream become reality, every thing just perfect, but it is never the end, things will go on………. Changing.
“There is a season”. And entropy has a heavy finger on the scales.
