UN climate science now at “Gates of Hell” level

Antonio Guterres,

By Jo Nova

The UN is morphing into the New World Eco-Cathedral and the first commandment is “Give Us Your Money”

Antonio Guterres opened the Working Group Chapter on Fire and Brimstone and dug deep:

[AP News] “Humanity has opened the gates to hell,” U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres said Wednesday, opening a special climate ambition summit with yet another plea for action. “ Horrendous heat is having horrendous effects. Distraught farmers watching crops carried away by floods. Sweltering temperatures spawning disease. And thousands fleeing in fear as historic fires rage.”

In a reversion to the medieval era of microbiology, apparently heat itself spawns disease from the ether. We know heat is the devil itself, the source of all evil, as the IPCC has not found one single good thing that might happen with more hotness.

No one is even pretending this is science anymore, are they?

Once equilibrium climate sensitivity is at the Gates of Hell level, where can it go next? Magma level? And is that better or worse?

United Nations Command LogoThe developed world was put in the naughty corner, and not allowed to speak, so they didn’t turn up, or perhaps it was the other way around.

Those [major emitting] nations remained silent. They weren’t allowed to speak because, organizers said, they had no new actions to take.

Heads of state from China, the United States, India, Russia, the United Kingdom and France all skipped the summit.

The 32 national leaders who did qualify represent only 11% of the world’s carbon dioxide pollution.

Guterres was apparently performing for a different crowd — whipping up the poor brethren nations to ask God for money, or failing that, the European Commission, or John Kerry which is nearly the same thing.

Guterres called on “major emitters — who have benefited most from fossil fuels — to make extra efforts to cut emissions, and on wealthy countries to support emerging economies to do so.” They were silent.

There’s some ceremonial ritual at work here, where rich nations are banned from talking then blamed for not saying anything.

Ultimately, the main point of the summit was to feed from the trough:

He called on wealthy nations to fulfill their $100 billion pledges to help poorer countries deal with climate change. The United States is one of the countries that hasn’t done so. The U.N. chief also pushed for countries to spend even more than they’ve promised and put in money to a “loss and damage” fund agreed upon last year that are sort of payments to help nations harmed by extreme weather from global warming.

There was a call to the promised land:

Africa “can leapfrog into a fully green industrial paradigm,’’ Kenyan President William Ruto said. “Yet we cannot and must not do this on our own.”

Little does the Kenyan President know that if Kenya gets there, to the green industrial paradigm, they will be on their own, because no one else has made it. The promised land doesn’t exist. The Green Industrial Paradigm is a the place where modern economies go to die.

The UN head honcho has to say that because they need to keep the scam going to milk as much cash as they can – it would be interesting to see their bank balances.

The vast majority of fires are due to arson. now I wonder who’s doing these activist greenie things.
Still waiting to find out what sentences have been handed down to guilty arsonists of the past 5 / 10 years. Did they ever face a court, was anybody held to account, were there any jail sentences. I doubt it!!

Yeah, questions like that were bothering me since about 2005 when I first read “State of Fear” by Michael Crichton. Eco-terrorism was a novel concept then, terrifyingly real though. It’s 2023 and his insight is becoming more and more real. There are nutcases, there are true believers in the cause, there are mercenaries. All of them can be easily recruited and paid their 30 pieces of silver (or modern equivalent), and they wouldn’t care who pays what price on the receiving end.

Fires that are not a problem can quickly become a problem with a change in the weather.

I am fearing that the day may be near when all fires are prohibited.

But, given the right conditions a single dry thunderstorm might light 50 fires.

In earlier times a lot of our fires started on roadsides. Almost certainly from cigarette butts thrown out of a moving vehicle. Not exactly arson, but negligent nevertheless.

After a run of above average seasons. The country is now in a drier part of the cycle.

I’d be concerned if it DIDN’T burn.

No fires mean no fuel load, and to not have fuel load after a run of good seasons means the country is in very bad shape.

Good grief, do these dangerous elites know nothing of history, of dire droughts, of monumental floods, of years without summer after volcanic eruptions, of the Irish famine caused by the cold, etc, etc???? I think they totally live in bubble of power madness and pagan earth worship religion. You would think the planet has always been a steady as she goes, benign and mild place. It’s not, never has been, nor will be even if they spent every bit of money on the planet to change it, they cannot. What I plainly see in many places they are destroying the place to “save” it including here in Australia.

I take great comfort in the increasingly strident calls to action because it indicates fewer nations and even fewer people are listening. When we are told we are burning but know we are not then the great scam loses its agency. Tell someone that they are hungry when they have just eaten their fill and even the most delusional will wonder about your sanity rather than their own. It has taken 30 years but the wheels are falling off the global warming fraud as the great unwashed realise that to accept the premise will be to make them much poorer. Now they are seeing that saving the planet is also destroying many of those things they hold dear. Chris Bowen appears to be the last dinosaur to go extinct. I predict that will happen before Christmas and after the Voice goes down. Albo will have to admit that the people are already angry and that Bowen is making it worse.

Well Aussies would have been at the gates of hell if we had changed to TOXIC, UNRELIABLE and EXPENSIVE W & S in 2000 as I tried to explain yesterday.
But even if we use Bowen’s full 387 billion $ BS and FRAUD for Nuclear and the full cost jumped to about 1 trillion $ by 2120 we’d still save at least 52.5 TRILLION $ and have a pristine environment on the land and offshore as well.
AND RELIABLE, CLEAN, and VERY CHEAP ENERGY from 2000 to 2120.
    Here’s what I wrote yesterday.

“Another quick exercise using Nuclear Energy and starting at the year 2000 and the cost of 0.194 Trillion $.
    A change over at 2060 could cost 0.3 T $ and last until 2120.
So that’s about 0.494 T $ until 2120 and only proper maintenance required over that 120 years.
I ask who wouldn’t want to save at least 53.5 T dollars and have cheap, reliable and clean energy for that long period of time?”

    240

    • #
      Neville

Of course the combined W & S capacity factor would be just 30% and the battery backup would cost many TRILLIONS of $ EXTRA over that 120 years.
Happily this lunacy would have been abandoned within a few years and written off, but Australia would have been be a much poorer country because of their stupid, TOXIC W & S experiment.

Just to try and follow the gates of hell BS as it applies to Kenya since 1950.
In 1950 population just 5.7 million and life expectancy 41 years, but today a population of 55 million and life expectancy of 67.5 years.
Of course infant/child mortality has seen a vast improvement since 1950 and more people have moved to urban living.
Why have we seen such incredible Human flourishing over the last 73 years in Kenya, Africa and the World?
And how can the UN yap their BS and FRAUD and get away with it for decades?

Interesting to compare Kenya to global population and global life expectancy since 1950.
In 1950 our global life expectancy was 46 years and population about 2.5 billion. But today our global life expectancy is 73 years and our population has increased to 8 + billion.
This period after 1950 is unique and Human flourishing has soared over the last 73 years and it’s difficult to find “the gates of hell” in the numbers.

For many Australian citizens the realisation of the depth of Australia’s position is a long way off.

    It’s been a slow, progressive, well guided slide into a massive swampland of human tragedy that attests to one inescapable conclusion;

    – those we assumed were our Leaders were in fact our
    Masters and Gaolers.

In Australia the 5 years of high school was extended to 6.

The wonderful TAFE system in NSW was virtually destroyed so that real workers had poorer grounding in their jobs.

Universities were portrayed as a new height of activity for most school leavers.

Unemployment benefits and living supplements became so good that it was a difficult decision to decide whether to actually get a job, or stay put.

All the above was designed to make our slide into industrial and societal irrelevance almost invisible.

Australia, the land of de-industrialisation , de-education, hidden national government debt and above all; political deceit par excellance.

Well, the COVID19 carp put an end to the blindness: so many people had their life’s work, efforts and families smashed by government deceit.

    People who have been abused by politics, beaten down and discouraged should be angry and are left with only one future pathway;

Arise Australia…….. Clean out the Schwamp!!

Part of my career involved working with start-ups and small companies which grew over time. An observation I made early on was that, when a business decided it needed a dedicated ‘HR’ department, problems and workload related to staff matters actually increased. The admin burden associated with HR also went up exponentially. Likewise when in-house IT, legal and OHS departments came into being.

This is the thing with bureaucracy. Whatever its supposed purpose, it almost immediately morphs into a self-serving machine that eventually becomes the tail wagging the dog. It will actually get in the way of doing business and serving the needs of clients. It will, if allowed, grow and grow, even adding layers of additional bureaucracy within its own, internal operations.

I suffered the consequences of over-bureaucratic systems in one large, government-funded organisation. Getting ANYTHING done was a soul-destroying experience requiring superhuman persistence and endurance. Those people couldn’t care less about the ‘customers’, only enforcement of company rules and regulations. Far from being a ‘goal oriented’ organisation, it was top-to-bottom a ‘process driven’ body. Being from a private sector background and having worked for many years in small, agile and innovative businesses, I slowly had the life force sucked out of me. The stress of having responsibility but no authority was incredibly stressful. Coincidentally, that’s when I suffered my heart attack …

The UN and its ilk are huge, self-serving bureaucracies and as such exist only to ensure their own survival and expand their own influence.

No one is even pretending this is science anymore, are they?

They are pretending that it is science but it is paganism masquerading as science. It’s a regressive step back in time to the pagan ritual of worshiping Gaia as the ancestral mother of the Earth. Ironically, according to the mythology, one of Gaia’s consorts was Uranus. As your website proclaims, Jo, “A perfectly good civilisation is going to waste…”.

Guterres – fossil fuel subsidies “reached an incredible $7 trillion in 2022”

That would be from the IMF report:

IMF Fossil Fuel Subsidies Data: 2023 Update
    https://www.imf.org/en/Publications/WP/Issues/2023/08/22/IMF-Fossil-Fuel-Subsidies-Data-2023-Update-537281

Subjective analysis, at best, but the odd gem:

Globally, total fossil fuel subsidies amounted to $7 trillion in 2022, equivalent to nearly 7.1 percent of global GDP. Explicit subsidies (undercharging for supply costs) account for 18 percent of the total while implicit subsidies (undercharging for environmental costs and forgone consumption taxes) account for 82 percent

    And,

By region, East Asia and the Pacific accounts for nearly half of the global subsidy. By country, in absolute terms China remains the biggest subsidizer of fuels, followed by the US, Russia, EU, and India.

    And,

Differences between efficient prices and retail prices for fossil fuels are large and pervasive across fuels”

    And,

Underpricing for local air pollution and global warming account for nearly 60 percent of global fossil fuel subsidies

“Explicit” and “implicit” subsidies, both of which are the author’s opinion.

“We need to remove all these illegal assault climates on the street!”

“I am already totally over this climate assault thing. That’s so five minutes ago. Let’s just go ahead to the finale and have the climate Armageddon.”

“Gotta hand it to these guys, they really know how to keep a 50+ year old grift going!” [Except Hochul wants to stop it “once and for all”]

Oh dear! Every time I look at this thread I get a nasty turn seeing that pic at the head. It happened too whenever that pic of Pachauri showed up. Have a heart Jo!

Yes Annie but you have to admit that the former IPCC chief Pachauri showed a lot of respect for young women? SARC.
Apparently a very hands on sort of bloke.

It’s time for push back, and one of the great things on our side is this blog.
Small “ping” to help it continue.

Can we stop calling it “climate science”?

Any specific area of science that has to have “science” added as a suffix has to be questionable and done for credibility reasons, unless it refers to a broad area like Earth Sciences which includes Geology and Meteorology.

The main branches of science, according to some classifications, are:

    Physics.
    Chemistry.
    Earth science.
    Space science.
    Biochemistry.
    Microbiology.
    Botany.
    Zoology.

I still can’t get over how gormless he looked standing in the sea in the Maldives. Of course, they have been constructing undersea airports to bring in the tourists ever since!

Quite simple. They know the El Nino is in, so now is the time for the massive propaganda effort and its emotive hyperbole.

It has always been about feeding from the trough, since Maurice Strong realised the potential of using environmental issues to achieve socialist goals. IPCC official Ottmar Edenhofer, speaking in November 2010, advised that: “…one has to free oneself from the illusion that international climate policy is environmental policy. Instead, climate change policy is about how we redistribute de facto the world’s wealth…”

If the UN Secretary General is correct and humanity really is knocking on the “gates of hell”, I hope he has a copy of The Devil’s Dictionary of Climate Change close to the pulpit.

Still available on Amazon for the cost of a good coffee.

Please see my graph correcting the Keeling Curve, which is a scientific fraud for several reasons. 1. The Keeling Curve has a base of 310 instead of 0. This dramatically increases the slope of the Scary Graph. 2. It omits THE dominant greenhouse gas, which is water vapor, ~40 times as concentrated in our atmosphere as carbon dioxide. 3. The Scary Graph pretends that all carbon dioxide increases are attributable to humans. In fact less than 4% are. 4. Finally the IR absorption spectrum of water vapor shows that it absorbs far more sunlight than does carbon dioxide, even before considering the 40-fold higher concentration in our atmosphere.
