” Terrific Canadian anti-vaccine Doctor William Makis published an encouraging new Substack yesterday, along with a summary on Twitter. Dr. Makis, who has been de-credentialed in Canada for his online advocacy during and after the pandemic, is well known for his regular and diligent articles describing sudden deaths and reporting new vaccine studies.

Dr. Makis said he thinks the mRNA-cancer dam is finally breaking open.”

“He reported that just in the last two weeks, six new academic papers have been published linking covid mRNA vaccines to cancer, bringing the running total (by his count) to twenty-six. Here’s his list of the six new papers:”

It would appear that the evidence is becoming overwhelming. My GP and a specialist won’t even discuss Covid, et alone the vaccines!

        Says it all.

It seems lately that every new day brings a story about the discovery of a potential cause for the increase in cancers, and of course it’s never the Jabberwonky. It’s like going to an old-style pantomime where the character on-stage looks EVERYWHERE for the baddie except where he is, despite thousands of audience members yelling “He’s behind you!”

Scientists: “Now where could the cause of all this cancer be? Is it junk food?”

        The public: “It’s the vaccine!”

        “Pardon? Did you say obesity?”

        “It’s the vaccine!”

        “What? It’s bottled water?”

        “It’s the vaccine!!!!”

“Sorry. Did you just shout CLIMATE CHANGE?”

The Left just love their millionaire Champagne Socialists.

Phillip Adams (Australia, Their ABC employee amongst other thibgs) is always going on about how the British should “return” the Elgin Marbles (a legal purchase to save them from almost certain destruction) but he is quite a collector of antiquities himself.

If it were not for the double standards of the Left they would have no standards whatsoever.

Phillip lives on a cattle property specialising in the production of chemical-free beef. He is a collector of antiquities, including Egyptian, Etruscan, Roman, Greek and pre-Columbian sculptures and artefacts.

It’s not about rights and wrongs. It’s about the cash.. Antiquities are worth a fortune now. Like the Benin bronzes which were ‘returned’ and ended up the private property of a local warlord. Who knows what will happen to them? They and the Elgin marbles only exist because of the enlightened action of preservation. The original owners are long gone. Even the cultures are gone. The Mughal jewel Taj Mahal was saved from total neglect by the British Viceroy Lord Curzon.

So the whole ‘return the Elgin marbles’ is a scam. Greece did not exist as a country for most of the last two millenia and the ‘owners’ are long gone. Greece was recreated as a country from the Ottoman lands because of the fascination of the dominant power at the time, Britain. And Lord Elgin paid the Turkish owners. No one cared. The Parthenon was nearly destroyed in a war with Venice when it was used as an ammunition store and exploded. This claim of ownership is fake. But it is a diplomatic issue for the woke playing like all woke issues on an emotion of fake implied, tranferred and historic guilt. Like slavery, even though it was Britain who ended the world wide practice of slavery.

But technology changes and the diplomatic problem can be solved. It is easy enough to 3D laser scan the marble sculptures and make as many exact copies of the Elgin Marbles as you like. Personally I would love to see them reinstalled on the Parthenon. But give the originals to some putative owner and they would likely vanish forever into a private collection.

We saw this with Dinosaur bones. Fortunes were made with precise copies for many museums so everyone could enjoy them. After all they are as rare as dinosaurs. And the owners are the people who found them.

You could do the same with famous paintings, when an original now sell for hundreds of millions. Laser scanning and automatic painting.

It’s getting very difficult to see any of these things practically. My favorite paintings are now always on the move. As I have done, you can go to a city like Chicago or New York or St. Petersburg just to see a painting, jewellery or sculpture and it is travelling, making huge sums. The Faberge Eggs for example. I chased them around the cities and they ended up on display in a small museum in Croatia where a friend saw them by accident. Copies are the solution for everyone.

This solves a major financial problem for historically under funded museums too which are often given great privately owned works of art on strict condition people can see them for free. In principle they cannot charge entrance fees. So who pays? As with the Art Institute on Michigan Avenue in Chicago. Technically you should not have to buy a ticket. So the great paintings go travelling, often as sets. And the place on the wall is blank. Even the gigantic and amazing “Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte” in Chicago has gone missing. I could not believe it. It is a huge painting and the world wants to see it. And it had gone missing. It’s all about the demand and the money.

The solution is to make and sell copies, so easy with modern technology. This funds the museums and allows many more people to see the works. And it preserves the original!

This solution has been used for centuries, as with Michaelangelo’s David sculpture. People generally visit and admire a copy which stands in the open air, not the original, which is protected. Ghibertis’ doors on the Baptistry in Florence are similarly exact copies to protect the amazing originals. Michaelangelo actually created his own business making copies of famous David. Tourists buy copies all the time. Italians factories will produce exact or scaled copies of the extraordinary Riaci Bronzes, complete with silver eyelashes and lapis lazuli eyes.

The Elgin Marbles are the same. Make precise copies and end this cash grab. It is nothing to do with history and everything to do with greed. And woke insanity, guilt and being played like a fiddle by opportunists. Like the whole carbon scam. China knows this and claims to be an ‘historic victim’ of imperial carbon, despite having output more CO2 in total than any other country. Guilt has always been a weakness of the Christian West. So end your Christian Imperialism and slavery and return the Elgin Marbles to their rightful owners and you will never see them again. They will end up in Saudi in a private museum. And then, who knows?

This whole woke movement of “returning” artifacts to their claimed owners removes them from a state of permanent preservation, respect, care and scientific study in Western institutions to very likely appalling, inappropriate conditions where they will deteriorate or be destroyed and where they may even be corruptly sold.

Had they not been collected by Western scholars over the last few hundred years, they wouldn’t even exist now because the original cultures from which they came did not respect or care for them.

These artifacts are being permanently lost for all humanity.

On the other hand, look how Leftists are now destroying or vandalising Western artifacts such as statues or paintings in an attempt to destroy our Western history and Civilisation, rewriting (altering) books, renaming streets and buildings (and rewriting history).

Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right.

Yes, that too. The destruction of Western Civilization. But for the actors it’s incidental and opportunistic. As with Climate Change, BLM, Reparations, it’s all about the cash. As it was with Hitler, the thief. Politics is a way to unearned riches for the second rate, belief systems just a disguise. And implied guilt just a weakness which can be exploited for cash.

Here in the benighted penal colonies, we have our own “return” enthusiasts.

One of the “big issues” is the London-based Haddon collection of artifacts from the Torres Strait islands.

Haddon was WAY ahead of the curve. He was dealing with a dynamic, living culture and was intrigued by the many totemic ceremonial items, especially the head-wear.

So, contrary to modern rumour, he spoke to the locals about the history and significance of these items. Most of the ones he was allowed to see were in regular use and had been “consecrated’ specifically for that purpose.

So, Mr. Haddon , being fairly switched on, asked if it might be possible for “copies” to be made by the proper local artisans, and then NOT “consecrated”, specifically so that they could be taken away to show the world.

          Deal done.

The original head-dresses are made from available plant and animal material and have a limited “shelf-life” in the tropical environment. When too shabby for display and ceremony, they are “de-consecrated” and destroyed, and NEW ones are brought into service.

The most intriguing one I ever saw had a modern “twist”.

Instead of a symbolic / totemic shark, dugong, turtle, sea-bird, etc., as a “crown-piece”, this one had a quite accurate carving of a WW2 B-25 bomber. During the last great unpleasantness, the islanders became quite familiar with an array of allied (and the odd Japanese) aircraft types.

          A “living” culture.

Video: Dr John Campbell presents a speech by Andrew Bridgen to an empty UK Parliament.

Andrew Bridgen talks about the covid “vaccine” disaster.

Mr Bridgen is one of the few members of UK Parliament with a science degree. Unlike nearly all other politicians and covid-19 vaccine promoters, he even knows how vaccines are made and work, and knows biology, statistics and can read scientific publications.

    Australia also gets a mention.

He was expelled from the Conservative Party in April 2023 for criticising the covid-19 vaccine.

After his speech people in the public gallery cheer and the Speaker threatens to expel them. The people are kept separate from the politicians by glass.

    Highly recommended viewing. (22 mins)

With Goolag’s latest development Skynet is here (or at least the beginnings of it).

It allows for precise tracking of everyone with their phones via a peer to peer network. Apple already have this feature.

This is of interest to people who value their privacy (sadly most don’t).

The solution is to use a “de-Googled” Android phone with an OS such as GraphenOS or other freedom- and privacy-oriented open source Android distributions.

    Rob Braxman discusses.

    https://youtu.be/9xPjIfJI5Jk

For those unfamiliar with the fictional Skynet:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skynet_%28Terminator%29?wprov=sfla1

Skynet is a fictional artificial neural network-based conscious group mind and artificial general superintelligence system that serves as the antagonistic force of the Terminator franchise.

In the first film, it is stated that Skynet was created by Cyberdyne Systems for SAC-NORAD. When Skynet gained self-awareness, humans tried to deactivate it, prompting it to retaliate with a countervalue nuclear attack, an event which humankind in (or from) the future refers to as Judgment Day. In this future, John Connor forms a human resistance against Skynet’s machines—which include Terminators—and ultimately leads the resistance to victory. Throughout the film series, Skynet sends various Terminator models back in time to attempt to kill Connor and ensure Skynet’s victory.

In the following video, starting at about 29 mins and up to about 38 mins, claims are made that Vitamin D is not effective in correcting a range of diseases and not supported by observational trials and even that it might make things worse.

I don’t accept that for a moment based on everything I’ve read.

Also see comments on the video.

It sounds like a typical claim that certain effective and safe treatments are ignored or banned in preference to expensive patented drugs.

      David,

Intestesting point Elder Daughter due Kidney stone just advised by Hospital, to stop Vit D Supplement – would think she is not not taking large dose and will ask her how much she takes, as she is one who does not see a lot of sun

Vit D is not included in normal blood tests as is Chloresterol levels not included – my last one was in post op servere burns unit where I got night nurse to incude in daily blood test – level fine and as I have regular blood tests, creatine & calcium levels fine

Doctors are warning patients to be cautious about the amount of vitamin D supplements they take after a man developed kidney damage due to excess dosages.

The 54-year-old man showed increased levels of creatine in his blood, suggestive of kidney damage and malfunction. Upon referral to a kidney specialist and further tests, doctors found the man had been prescribed a high dosage of vitamin D by a naturopath.

The naturopath had advised the man to take eight drops of vitamin D daily. Over a period of more than two years, the man consumed between 8,000 and 12,000 international units (IU) of vitamin D daily.

The recommended daily amount for the average person is between 400 and 1,000 IU.

Due to the high amount of vitamin D the man was taking, he had an excessive amount of calcium in his blood, which led to kidney damage.

“It was surprising to see the degree of kidney function he had lost suddenly almost to the point of requiring dialysis,” Dr. Bourne Auguste, a clinical fellow in home dialysis at Toronto General Hospital and the University of Toronto, told Healthline.

“Vitamin D toxicity had been previously reported in the medical literature but has been exceedingly rare,” he said. “The main surprising element was that this patient was taking as much vitamin D as possible to strengthen the bones but was not aware that there was a risk of toxicity with extremely large doses.

“Kidney failure is not reversible. In this case, this patient is now left with 30 to 35 percent kidney function. Previously before this vitamin D exposure, his function was greater than 70 percent.

“Patients with progressive kidney failure and usually with less than 10 to 15 percent function usually need dialysis to clear toxins from the body. This patient has an extremely high risk of needing dialysis at some point in his life.

His kidney failure resulted from the high calcium levels in the blood, with calcium depositing in various parts of the kidney causing damage,” Auguste explained.

Taking that story at face value … the guy took 20x the normal healthy dose of Vitamin D and only showed symptoms after two years. Let’s try a simple thought experiment with water for example … typical healthy consumption of water is approx 1L to 2L per day, right? How long would you survive drinking 20L to 40L of water each day, huh? Probably wouldn’t make it through two weeks.

Clearly Vitamin D is less toxic than water.

Now, as for the article and the man with kidney problems … if you read closely you will note that he was from a family where kidney disease is common and also he had high blood pressure for years … two risk factors that probably put him in a worse position than most people. Not that I recommend taking 20x more than the healthy dose of any vitamin but looks to me that it was more than just the vitamin D in this particular case.

      G’day David,
      I agree with you.

It’s hard to be specific when there are no references given, either about the nature of the “supplements”, or of the “trials”.

But it sounds like their investigations into vitamin D have been rather shallow while they focus on osteoporosis.

No mention of K2. No mention of cofactors. No numbers for the amount of D given in the trial with adverse reactions. What supplement was given? Was it just D3, or was it multiples of D + Ca?
The scathing reference to the manufacturers of the supplements suggests that more expensive formulations than straight D3 were used.

In summary, they’ve raised my hackles without presenting any evidence to support their position. And nothing to refute the work of Dr Mercola in his work of 2020.

      Cheers, Dave

For those wondering, “furries” are not a joke. They are people who identify as animals. At least they don’t (mostly) mutilate and sterilise themselves like those that identify as the opposite sex.

Singer goes viral after putting litter boxes in ‘species-neutral’ bathrooms on tour

Gender neutral bathrooms aren’t an entirely new concept, but ‘species inclusive’ is rarely seen.

And this is exactly what one singer has promoted this week.

The singer has gone viral on TikTok after revealing they would be putting litter boxes in restrooms while performing their tour across the US, for those who identify as animals instead of humans.

Posting on the video sharing platform, @dorianelectraofficial explained they would be adding the litter trays for fans who identify as animals and don’t want to use standard toilets.

In the video, Dorian takes a pen and crosses out a sign that reads ‘all gender bathroom’ instead changing it to ‘all species bathroom

“You guys spoke and I listened,” said Dorian. “I’m making all the bathrooms at my concerts not only gender neutral but species neutral.

“I will be providing litter boxes in the bathrooms for all animal-identifying concert-goers on my tour. Now that’s inclusivity in action.”

Dorian even added that they would be cleaning the litter trays themselves.

“As an independent artist it’s really important for me to take accountability for all hygienic goings on on my tour so I will personally be involved in cleaning them,” they said.

A lovely propaganda piece from the ABC… ‘Far-Left’ is normal for them, so everything else is ‘Far-Right’! A typical non-event being blown up and propagandised by the people who are about to get kicked out in the next elections.

“Dr Crimston says: “Our research shows that as we get closer and closer to an election, tensions are indeed likely to increase as people consider what life might be like in Germany after the election. “We know that heightened polarisation in these contexts does indeed predict quite extreme responses..”

So Europe at the moment is all unicorns and rainbows, nothing to see in France or Sweden or the UK with their rioting and raping by Muslims, but it will get worse if the Far-Right get into power and kick the criminals out.

In case you wonder just how much more morally depraved the Left are prepared to become, this is Peter Singer’s viewpoint on bestiality, which the marketing people of the Left have rebranded as zoophillia. He is also a member of the Australian Greens, presumably their moral philosopher.

He is Australian and currently a Professor of Bioethics in the University Center for Human Values at Princeton University.

    Here are his actual words:

    9 Nov 2023

Imagine that you are an animal locked up all of your life in a factory farm stall too narrow for you to even turn around, let alone walk a single step, so that you have nothing to do all day except stand up and lie down on a floor consisting of bare metal slats. Then you are crammed into a truck and driven for many hours to a place where you will be slaughtered. This is what happens to millions of pigs in the US today, and the lives of billions of other factory-farmed animals are no better.

Now imagine that you are an animal living with a person who cares for you and loves you in all the ways that most people love their companion animals, but in addition, this person sometimes has sexual contact with you, making sure that the contact does not hurt you, and leaving you free to move away if you don’t like it. You live out your natural lifespan like this, and when you get old and terminally ill and are in distress, the person who cares for you, full of sadness, takes you gently to a veterinarian who puts you to sleep.

Which animal would you rather be?

In Vicdanistan, land tax is out of control. I just received a land tax bill for nearly three times the previous bill. No wonder people are no longer investing in residential property, or if they do, the rents are huge. And many investors are selling up.

Most of my friends who own residential investment properties in Melbourne have either sold them or are in the process of selling.

Probably other investors will buy these properties but the rents charged will be much higher to reflect the extra taxes and also the high risk of the new tenancy regulations which make it much harder to remove non-paying or feral tenants. Only high risk accepting investors would want to buy.

      David,

I am giving it a miss in NSW and selling up – NSW Office of State Revenue Land Tax 2024 – $24,000 – 13.48% increase over 2023, Building Inusrance 34.8% increase, and unlike Commercial Leases, where the Tenant is responsible for all Outgoings including Land Tax, under NSW Residential leases not so -thus NSW Tenant has now idea how much the NSW Govt is causing their rents to increase

All units VIC now Land Tax

      $100,000 to $300,000 $975
      $300,000 to $600,000 $1350 plus 0.3 per cent of amount above $300,000
      $600,000 to $1,000,000 $2250 plus 0.6 per cent of amount above $600,000
      $1,000,000 to $1,800,000 $4650 plus 0.9 per cent of amount above $1,000,000
      $1,800,000 to $3,000,000 $11,850 plus 1.65 per cent of amount above $1,800,000
$3,000,000 and over $31,650 plus 2.65 per cent of amount above $3,000,000

Wife has good investment in QLD and good return, but tenant laws making not worth the effort and QLD Land Tax bit of a mystery

as I understand in QLD, the property is given a Land Value by QLD Govt Land Valuer and it is then the responsibility of the Property Body Corporate to issue land value for each property, based on their lot apportions – my wife has not received said notice from Body Corp, though I note Mackay Council based it’s rates on the QLD Govt Full Land Value for each Unit – so times 8 on my wife’s prperty, a good take

In NSW you can easily find UCV (used in Land Tax Valuation) for each Unit/Townhouse and Councils usually charge a minimum rate on Units

Yes, but the Russians fight with shovels because they have no guns and they steal washing machines to get electronic circuits for their missiles…

Why Transgenderism is just the latest woke fad.

As Ben Affleck’s daughter comes out as ‘Fin’, why are so many A-list celebrities’ children trans and non-binary?

Their daughter, christened Seraphina Rose, now goes by Fin and uses the pronoun ‘they’.

The upper echelons of Tinseltown are packed with the proud parents of trans, non-binary and gender-fluid offspring – a fact that these A-list mums and dads, suspending their usual fierce protection of their privacy, are often happy to talk about.

Indeed, the extended Affleck clan already has Fin’s step-sibling Emme, 16, the non-binary child of Jennifer Lopez – who is now Ben’s wife – from her marriage to singer Marc Anthony.

Govt twists real journalism into an excuse to rob companies to pay fake journalists!

“Furious Assistant Treasurer Stephen Jones will force social media companies to answer to the federal government after the spread of misinformation had turned a “horrific week into something diabolical”. The minister in charge of high-stakes negotiations with Meta says falsehoods and graphic imagery shared about the Sydney stabbings proved the need for real news on social media platforms, strengthening his resolve to force the US tech giant to fund local journalism.”

“NSW Premier Chris Minns on Tuesday savaged the “shocking” failure to remove videos of the stabbing incidents and backed proposed federal laws to punish the hosting of misinformation, which he said spread “like wildfire” after the stabbing of a western Sydney priest on Monday night… “Without journalism, God help us.””

Lol!! Social media carried video of the truth, what actually happened, and that pisses the Govt off as they can’t lie about it now. As for ‘misinformation, the Govt itself is the greatest spreader of that! There’s no free market in news anymore.

Europe is revolting against the tyranny of electric cars

The rest of Europe, Remainers like to tell us, is forging ahead into a glorious green future while Brexit Britain is stalling, the government backsliding one by one on its net zero commitments.

It is hard to square that narrative with what’s really going on across the channel. In March, according to data from the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association, registrations of new electric vehicles plummeted by 11.3 per cent.

In Germany – the grown up country that’s supposed to show childish Britain how it’s done – the drop was even more precipitous at 28.9 per cent.

Apparently it’s not just Britain where motorists have gone distinctly cool on electric cars. The electric vehicle industry appears to going the same way as one of its own products when the battery charge lowers: it’s slowing rapidly to a crawl.

And it’s plain to me that the reasons in Europe are the same as they are here: electric cars are too expensive to buy, and too fussy to recharge.

They have a niche as local runabouts for people with their own off-street recharging facilities, but little appeal otherwise.

Talking of cars. Was getting my Mitsubishi Triton free carwash yesterday at the dealer. While there popped in to see the new Triton model. Impressive. BUTTTTT!! Some models have face recognition. There’s a little pod that sits behind the steering wheel on the column and if it detects the driver not looking at the road, it sets off an alarm. Whisky Tango Foxtrot – another annoying safety feature that none of us requested. Also, the diesel models have an AdBlue system. Under the fuel cap are too openings – one for diesel, another for the AdBlue additive. The AdBlue is actually fed into the exhaust stream to denature NOX’s. It’s a 17L reservoir that should last you between service top ups. All part of the new European emissions standards.

Many Euro built diesels (VW, MB, etc) have used AdBlu for several years (my 2018 Holden Commodore diesel wagon used it !) , together with many big trucks.
Its not a big deal, and since you use less than your washer fluid,..very cheap, !
But if you run out of it, it will stop the car !

Wizz Airlines to use human poo for fuel

Wizz Air is making waves with its recent announcement that up to 10% of its flights could be powered by sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) derived from human waste by 2030. In an innovative approach to tackling the dual challenges of waste management and sustainable air travel, the Hungarian budget airline is joining forces with UK-based Firefly to transform sewage sludge into a biofuel that could see passengers flying on planes powered by an unusual source—human feces.

    https://trendydigests.com/2024/04/16/wizz-airs-green-leap-human-waste-biofuel-for-flights-set-to-soar-by-2028/

Seems more appropriate for Boeing. 😆

Bio fuels produce the same amount of CO2 as fuels derived from crude oil when being combusted and most likely generate more CO2 in their more complex manufacturing process – so why are these more “environmentally friendly”?

      More likely just green propaganda

Also, no-one talking about how many emissions to produce the green fuel in the first place. Carbon accounting – the dodgiest accounting ever. Makes those “bottom of the harbour” schemes from years ago seem honest.

‘Zombie projects’ warning as mammoth federal green scheme comes in for questioning
“A multi-billion-dollar plan by the federal government to spur renewable energy investment needed to meet the country’s green power targets could create “zombie” projects that never get built, an analyst has warned.”
“Under the scheme, which the government unveiled in November, taxpayers are set to underwrite a wave of new green energy projects via a series of tenders over coming years.”
While the government has declined to reveal how much the scheme is expected to cost, estimates have suggested the bill could run to $67 billion.

That’s the first thing that Australians should vote out, any politicians who allows subsidies for anything! If your business can’t survive in a free market it just not viable. Meanwhile everything subsidised is just rubbish as people are forced to buy it and manufacturers don’t need to make a quality product.

NZ in the 1950s-60s, what bloody expensive useless shambles it was. Then Muldoon came in and kept the standard of living artificially low by expanding tariffs, import licencing and subsidies until the country was moribund. The change when the free-marketeers of Roger Douglas and the gang of three got power was amazing, and the country accelerated until once again the dead hand of Labor this time, destroyed the economy.

Politicians will always go for robbing Peter to pay Paul, and the voters are too stupid to see where they are being robbed. Give me a good solid dictatorship or monarchy over democracy every time!

I think if its tariffs or subsidies, the lesser evil is tariffs. At least tariffs were paid by the importing company. Subsidies are just money ripped off taxpayers to make politicians feel good. Trump preferred tariffs in battling China. Damn Chines love tariffs- they use them as political weapons.

Lunacy of The Australian Labor Party & the Federal Govt Bureaucrats destroying Australia with their Idiotic Net Zero Policies

Chalmers says ‘big’ investment in subsidy plan won’t push up inflation

Washington | Treasurer Jim Chalmers has said the government is considering “substantial” investments in the proposed Future Made in Australia green subsidy policy, which critics say risks entrenching subsidy-dependent industries.

Speaking on the sidelines of IMF and World Bank meetings in Washington overnight, Dr Chalmers said the investments being considered for the new industrial policy were “big”, but would not add to inflation pressures.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced last week he would introduce the act into parliament following America’s IRA and similar schemes adopted by the European Union, along with Korea, Japan, Canada and other nations to compete in the energy transition, which China largely dominates.

China exports most of the world’s solar panels, thanks to its huge state-backed enterprises, economies of scale and cheaper labour.

Australia’s Productivity Commission head and others have said the Labor government’s act risks entrenching local subsidy-dependent industries and would come at a cost to the economy.

Meanwhile – Business bankruptcies are at a 25-year high and that’s very bad news

In total 1131 businesses went bust in the month, which was the largest number since ASIC started collecting these statistics in 1999.

It also runs counter to claims that corporate defaults are benign.

Globally, the number of rated corporate defaults in 2024 is the highest observed since the dark days of the global financial crisis in 2009 according to credit rating agency Standard & Poor’s. In Europe, defaults are the worst since 2008.

One of this column’s central theses has been that this default cycle would be the most severe since the GFC globally and the 1991 recession in Australia.

But this time around it will mainly affect unregulated non-bank lenders and private credit portfolios due the fact that regulators have forced most sub-prime borrowers out of the banking system into the arms of non-banks after the last crisis.

Australian manufacturing poster child Tritium fails days after Qenos

A Nasdaq-listed electric vehicle fast-charger company hailed first as a Queensland success story and then as a justification for government subsidies is the second major Australian manufacturer to collapse this week.

Tritium, founded in 2001 and worth about $2 billion when it went public at the peak of the market for loss-making technology companies in early 2022, went into administration on Friday.

Tritium’s demise comes just days after Australia’s largest plastics producer, Qenos, was placed into administration, and as an industry chief warns that rising east coast gas prices will continue to threaten a range of domestic manufacturing across the country.

“Quite clearly we have got a lack of political will in some jurisdictions to exploit gas to service the local market,” Australian Industry Group chief executive Innes Willox said.

“Because of the constrictions on the domestic market, there’s now a much greater potential reliance on imported gas to get us through, and that’s probably the next big step we’re looking at.

“Then you’re going to get international pricing playing into the local market – that’s obviously going to impact prices across the board.”

Mr Willox said major manufacturers of bricks, cement, glass and paper would all be vulnerable to ongoing gas price increases, as well as chemical and fertiliser producers.

In a speech in Queensland this week outlining his government’s big-spending Future Made in Australia plan to support domestic manufacturing, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese pointed specifically to the nation’s gas sector as a key pillar underpinning the energy transition and creation of local jobs.

Mr Albanese’s multibillion-dollar local manufacturing policy was criticised this week by inaugural Productivity Commission chairman Gary Banks, who said the plan was a “fool’s errand”, prompting the prime minister to accuse him of being a “flat-Earther”.

Anyone up with the fine details of the Jewish religion??

    ——————————-

According to a Jewish prophecy, the Jews cannot establish their Holy Temple at the Temple Mount, where the Al-Aqsa compound is established, unless they sacrifice an unblemished red heifer.

Since at least the early 1960’s, Israel—Zionists have been searching for a rare red heifer that meets exacting standards (as specified in the Torah and the Old Testament Book of Numbers Chpt 19) to fulfill this prophecy. It’s extremely rare for a heifer to be born that meets the requirement. The heifer must be in it’s 3rd year… have no more than 2 hairs on it’s body (including eyelashes, tail and ears) that aren’t red, have no blemishes, no marks, no branding, never had a rope or yoke on it’s neck, never been covered with a cloth, never been ridden or bore any burden… .

In 2021, a rancher in Texas called Jewish officials. He had five red heifers born that each were unblemished. People flew in to look at the heifers and verify their purity. The heifers were bought and flown to Jerusalem. Israel could have built the temple long ago, but couldn’t ever use it unless it had been “purified”… The plans currently are to sacrifice the Red Heifer on the first day of Passover Weekend (Friday April 26th). ..It has to be done on the Mount of Olives, on the Western slope facing toward Jerusalem and the Temple Mount. .. then the next step is to purify the site for the New 3rd Temple to be built…

Everyone on both sides already knows about all of this. People in East Jerusalem (and others) will naturally want to disrupt any such sacrifice ceremony, preventing it from happening. It will be interesting to find out how this will turn out. .. Also, the ceremony is about as subtle as a marching band…

We’ll see what Passover Week brings. This ceremony hasn’t been done in the last 2,000 years. There have been only 9 red heifers sacrificed from the time of Moses up until Jesus’s birth, each time to “purify” the land. There is a prophecy about the 10th red heifer.

This doesn’t portend the smoothing out of relations and calming tensions in the Middle East. If anything, it may start bringing up fears of reclaiming the Temple Mount.
    ——————————

I suppose we will find out tomorrow..
