In Biden’s trip to Paris for the 80th anniversary of D Day I was amazed to see his gait, his arm movements and of course to see and hear his speech. He is so wooden, stumbling, staggering, robotic, lost you wonder how he continues. Does he even know where he is? And what he says is comparable, unnatural, faltering, illogical and he disintegrates into mumbling. Any hint of free speech is a shambles. He must have an earplug telling him what to say, but he has real trouble understanding the speaker. And everyone pretends he is fine?
How can anyone watch video of this very old man and think he is not age decrepit in every respect? Is he on drugs just for walking? It is impossible to believe he will stagger through a November election without falling apart. And the Hunter laptop was real all along. Everything the American public was told about it was wrong. Biden is a crook in Ukraine and China. The Big Guy. And of course he knew it was wrong when Blinken organized 50 intelligence officers to denounce it as Russian disinformation. And Clinton’s dossier was fake. Amazingly Russia is always the excuse. As in Trump’s fake impeachments.
I find it very difficult to believe the Democrat party leaders and voters think Biden will even make it to the election with a scrap of credibility. Will he physically fall apart if his son is jailed? What is going on? We could see President Harris before the end of the year. There must be a PLAN B. Joe Biden would get lost in a restroom. Weekend at Bidens is comic tragic and very wrong. What is going on?
300
I have watched films of Franklin D. Roosevelt in his last days at the Yalta Conference. His BP was 220 and he was near death but traveled from the US, an arduous journey and his speech and manner and logic were good. He brought his daughter and he hid his polio as always. But he was an effective leader of the free world and dealt directly with the increasingly arrogant Stalin. When he died he was 63! Biden will be 82 this November.
And no one attacks Trump on his age. He is sharp, fit and wins at golf. And out in public mingling. He can handle himself in a court room and buying milkshakes in a restaurant. He has taken incredible punishment and is staggeringly resilient and absolutely determined. He can climb stairs, speak off the cuff and walk without assistance. A very high achiever.
Biden has never had a job outside politics. And as a backbencher Senator his salary was $140,000 a year. How did everyone in his family get to be millionaires? Why was Chinese cash wired to his grandaughter? No one seems to know or care.
I am particularly concerned about the audio from the investigation by Mr Robert Hur who said he would not prosecute Biden because Biden would never be convicted because he is too old and frail mentally. This is the US President?
The world has the public interview transcript but the Democrats are have stopped the release of the audio using executive privilege. How can the transcript be public but the audio privileged? You can only conclude that the transcript does not match the audio? And given the previous coverups, who would be surprised?
And the seized illegal records are State Secrets from when Biden was only a senator, not just when he had privileged access as VP under Obama or President. Unlike President Trump who was never a career politician, Biden should not have had these records in the first place. How can this not be criminal activity at the highest level, he and his son and his son’s friends selling State secrets? And how can be be too aged to be competent enough to be prosecuted and he is running for President again?
What is going on? The whole world is wondering. With WWIII a possibility in Ukraine, Weekend at Biden’s is no joke.

Watch him at Point Du Hoc in France. The D-Day 80th ceremony. Any video really. There are plenty on Youtube.
He is trying not to lose his balance when he is walking. Stiff and ramrod straight. It’s quite unnatural. Normal people with fast balance can be quite sloppy, unbalanced but continuously correct their centre of gravity as learned while a child. Smooth like a ballet dancer not stiff like a robot. Like someone just learning to ice skate.

It reminds me of America in Vietnam or Iraq or Korea or Afghanistan. Infinite nuclear power but very limited in a conventional war. This is a proxy war by all the usual suspects against Russia. And of course the pretence that what is happening is not a civil war, which it is.
In Afghanistan it was the evil Russians expanding not just trying to stop the flow of heroin into Russia. But when they went home the Americans did exactly the same thing but they were allegedly the good guys saving the Afghans from the Russians. And their training of Osama Bin Laden was amazingly a replay of their training of the Vietnamese resurgent against the French imperialists, one Ho Chin Minh.
It’s amazing how yesterday’s Freedom fighter ends up tomorrow’s enemy. And you had the same thing with Kosovo and Serbia, a Russian satellite. Except this time America was on the side of the muslims breakaway state.
And the man making the decisions is the same Blinken who organized the fake Russian disinformation letter to save Biden’s campaign.
The Biden Presidency is run by Washington. Biden has no say.

Z speaks too soon. Kharkiv will soon be surrounded. What then Z and when will you hold an Election. It has been 5 years now and well beyond time.
Democracy? You are having a larf’. The UKR is now a failed State.
100
Kharkiv was famous in the Russian/NAZI battles. Lost before Stalingrad, taken after Stalingrad, lost again in Manstein’s great ambush, retaken again. I doubt there was much left. Russian casualties then were immense. Even in the final battle in Berlin, the Russians lost 300,000. The numbers are still staggering. Two million civilians in Leningrad alone.
And the German tanks are back in Kiev as liberators? Unbelievable. Next it will be the French and English back in the Crimea. Doesn’t anyone have a sense of Deja Vu? And the cry is still stop the Russians?
No one dares mention Russia’s long border with China/Mongolia. The Russians have been the bad guys since 1700. Never the Americans, French, British or Germans.
90
Does anyone remember that the French invaded Mexico in 1862-1867? The Americans were far too busy with their civil war. Or the French/British Crimean war 1855-1856? There were wars throughout Europe and so many fled to the US and Australia. So much for peace keeping and the farce of freedom fighters.

The Russians are applying pressure everywhere. I doubt there will be the grand breakthrough in WW2 style. In the age of high tech surveilance and drones the character of war between near peers has changed. The only breakthrough will be diplomatic and that seems a way off still, or possibly the Ukraines inability to maintain troop levels unless the NATO cavalry arrives.

Died Suddenly
BBC TV doctor Michael Mosely joins the list of those who Died Suddenly!
He was 67 years old, and apparently perfectly healthy.
He went for a walk on his own. CCTV footage which has not yet been released apparently shows him sinking to the ground and he never got up. It sounds a lot like a cardiac arrest.
Media reports are blaming the hot Sun, yet he had an umbrella for shade and a water bottle in his rucksack.
151
One report said he left because he was not feeling well. He didn’t make it far, despite the reports and was only a few hundred metres from where he was last seen. He was in plain sight the whole time.
101
TdeF — if you look at the map, he made it a long way. They probably didn’t find him because they were looking at the start of his journey, not a side trip a long way from where he started. I read somewhere the CCTV in Agia Marina (where his body was) captured him 2.1/4 hours after he departed. He was supposed to be going to Symi (the town) but diverted off or got lost to Agia Marina. Possibly his plan was to catch the ferry at the Marina to get back to his wife at the accommodation in Symi (maybe). Was that where they were staying? The island is pretty small. The amazing thing is that they couldn’t find him for days when there was no ground cover. News reports said his children walked and looked 80 feet away on one of their passes. (Though it was almost certainly too late by they time they flew in anyhow).
Map https://x.com/isik5/status/1799792276035526787/photo/1
When they say “near where he was last seen” they must be referring to the Agia Marina CCTV which I don’t think anyone discovered until after his body was found.
But if the CCTV at Agia Marina shows him slowly collapsing that would explain why it hasn’t been played 20 times on the news.

It appears to me that Mosley made an error that would appear unlikely for a medic (though plenty of doctors smoke like a chimney so … ) – he embarked on a longish walk in very high 40C+ temps with just a “small” bottle of water. He wasn’t, as far as I know, particularly athletic (though slim and apparently healthy) and of course he was in his late 60s. My theory is that he could have been insufficiently hydrated even before he set off, being British (I still have to force myself to drink enough water in summer – old habits etc) and so the combination of exertion, heat, sun and insufficient water may have led to delirium initially, which would explain why he went off course and set off into difficult terrain. He then inexplicably climbed a large, steep hill, probably again due to delirium. Sadly, this eventually led to a collapse and unconsciousness in full sun where his problems only got worse, leading to a heart attack.

Mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun
“Mad Dogs and Englishmen” is a song written by Noël Coward and first performed in The Third Little Show at the Music Box Theatre, New York, on 1 June 1931, by Beatrice Lillie. The following year it was used in the revue Words and Music and also released in a “studio version”. It then became a signature feature in Coward’s cabaret act.
00
Someone will piece it together. Peter is right, it looks like a heart condition but he misdiagnosed, thought it was the food, indigestion or just the heat when he really needed a stretcher, not a walk. The walk and the heat took out his last reserves. Poor sod. Idyllic location but not a great place to be if you are sick. I was in Mykinos at a restaurant when a diner went backwards in his chair. Only the owner had any sense. Everyone else just stood around like seagulls.
60
And the irony in this world of Nett Zonked is that people holiday to searing hot places with no shade or vegetation. When was that a holiday? And why are people terrified of a few degrees C? At what time of the year would that not be welcome in Scotland?
40
Maybe. Many unknowns and lots of speculation. Curiously he was found on the seaward side (right side as seen from the boat) of the Agia Marina cove. By the direct route from Pedi he would have approached from the left side.
He seems to have been descending a fairly steep and rocky slope, not on a path.
He would also have had a good view of the bay during his walk so it should have been hard to get disorientated. Indeed if he meant to walk to Symi it would have been obvious that he had made a wrong turn well before he left Pedi.
So I conclude he meant to walk where he went but no one knows what was in his mind.

I know what you mean with the BBC, but I can’t agree.
As in many places, the extreme left political culture is bad. Not the people. It’s a herd mentality, enforced by your peers. The lemming syndrome.
The core problem is that like the ABC, CBC, their BBC is public service income guaranteed. So they are not subject to the normal corrective forces of sheer unpopularity but keep demanding and getting more cash. Or they will attack their minders. Like a Gaza of the air.
The people at the Washington Post are feeling the heat too, even though Jeff Bezos is handing over $75Million in cash a year to keep them in jobs. Their readership has halved.
40
That really is a leap Peter.
Apparently he had one small bottle of water.
He walked a longer and much steeper route than he intended when he set off.
In 40C, from being used to 14-18C, he could easily have collapsed from the heat. Once down, the rocky ground temperature would have been 50C+, no chance of recovery.
I’d blame his faddy diet before the vaccine, but most likely he was just a victim of his own bad judgement in the heat.

It sounds similar to what I experienced in Cyprus in 1967 when I had to attend a ‘works outing’ to the beach by Z-craft from Famagusta to Figtree Bay (very quiet in those days). Despite staying in shade and taking a means of staying in shade on the beach I ended up becoming quite ill. Luckily a friend recognised the symptoms and treated accordingly.
We also had an excessively hot night in Cyprus in 1976 or 77 (forget which!) , no AC of course.
Climate Change….ha ha ha! Just a couple of horrid hot days for the latter and perfectly normal hot summer days for Cyprus for the former.
Guess who loathes sitting on a hot beach and always has done.

Yes, the miscalculation of individuals when it comes to weather conditions. “…’heat exhaustion’ after ‘sitting down and losing consciousness’…”
Back in the mid 80’s in Wainuiomata – over the hill from Wellington NZ – on a cold wintry Saturday afternoon three fit young males went for a run with one getting ahead of the other two on the path back to their car. The stragglers were found still together having died of exposure/hyperthermia while the third was found seated and with one shoe off. Apparently, according to the search team that found him, he had gotten a stone in his shoe as he ran and sat down, took his shoe off to get it out and never got up.
We know the outcome what we will probably never know is the accuracy of the report that he felt unwell and that is why he left to make his own way back to the hotel. What were his symptoms?

Hyperthermia: Abnormally high body temperature. This may be caused as part of treatment, by an infection, or by exposure to heat.’

I decided to forgo ‘flu shots some years ago, pre-Covid. I previously had them yearly on the advice of my cardiologist but came to believe they were unnecessary so long as I followed a good diet. So this news isn’t a biggie for me, though of course I share your scepticism.
On that note, early last year I had a Whooping Cough booster because we had a new granddaughter. All went well but I noticed only a few days ago that the shot they gave me was a triple combo of pertussis, tetanus and something else (can’t recall). This was NOT discussed with me, which of course means I did not give my consent. There is obviously a risk that this behaviour could, in future, mean that people may get jabbed with mRNA without knowing.
I will not of course allow this to happen again and will stress to any doctor when having any jab that I must be told EXACTLY what’s in that syringe.

If you have leant one thing in the last four years it would be, do your own looking/thinking.

How ‘the Left™’ Lost the EU Elections
50
The damage done to the United States and the West by the Biden Maladministration is so severe, that I am not sure it’s fully fixable even if there is a free and fair election and Trump is re-elected.
He will have to choose his VP VERY carefully to ensure his replacement for 2028-2032 is not a Swamp Creature like Pence. And that person will also have to choose their VP VERY carefully. And so on until the Swamp and Deep State is eliminated.
170
We already know of course that ‘real’ conservative governments aren’t allowed to behave like conservatives due to sabotage and obstruction from the leftist-controlled ‘permanent bureaucracies’ (the civil service/public service/Deep State). We saw this here in Australia after Abbott was elected, Boris Johnson suffered similar resistance in the UK and of course Trump was obstructed at every turn.
Even the not-very-conservative governments of Rishi Sunak in the UK and Morrison here had to fight every step of the way and it is this, coupled with relentlessly negative reporting in the MSM that leads them ever leftwards simply in order to survive and get anything done.
130
The Biden administration has little to do with Biden.
He is just the best branding mascot they have at the moment.
The ‘damage’ as we perceive it, is simply the intentional outcome desired by the social and cultural elitist intelligentsia that has arisen in most of the West … (they’re doing great) … and the American faction of that social group that runs the US.
I don’t think it will allow itself to be ‘led’ by anything other than an avatar of its’ own choosing.
Using their media apparatchiks, they will construct a US ‘election’ narrative.
That narrative will be bought by about the same percentage of the population that still believes there was a ‘Pandemic’.
Trump will be dealt with in some fashion.

Storage costs too much.
Windless nights make net zero impossible
By David Wojick
https://www.cfact.org/2024/06/10/windless-nights-make-net-zero-impossible/
The beginning: “It is very simple. The cost of storing electricity is so huge it makes getting through a single windless night under a net zero wind, solar and storage plan economically impossible. This is especially true of cold nights where blackouts can be deadly. I recently made a legislative proposal to Pennsylvania along these lines so let’s use them as our example, keeping in mind that this is true everywhere.
Pennsylvania peaks at around 30,000 MW so let’s consider a windless night with a constant need of just 20,000 MW. There should be lots of these especially in winter. Cold snaps are typically due to windless high pressure systems of arctic air with lots of overnight radiative cooling. In the world of solar “nights” are 16 hours or more long since solar systems just generate a lot of energy for 8 hours a day. It is likely less in a Pennsylvania winter where it is dark at 4 pm.
So to get through the night we need to have stored at least 20,000 MW times 16 hours or 320,000 MWh of juice. For simplicity we ignore all sorts of technical details that would make this number bigger, like input-output losses. The present capital cost of grid scale batteries is around $600,000 per MWh. Again this ignores all sorts of technical factors that make that number bigger, like buildings, transmission, etc.
Simple arithmetic says this works out to an incredible $192 billion dollars just for the batteries. Clearly this is economically impossible. In round numbers two hundred billion dollars just to get through the night!wind and solar plus batteries simply does not work. Even if the cost magically dropped 90% it would still be an impossible $20 billion just to buy the batteries.
This is so simple one wonders why none of the utilities, public utility commissions, independent system operators and reliability agencies ever thought of it. Or maybe they did and decided not to mention it.”
More in the article including the legislative proposal.
Net zero is impossible. Spread the word.
191
Clean energy is a perjorative expression created to push the idea that coal and oil are dirty so carbon dioxide is also dirty. Carbon dioxide is invisible, clean, essential for life.
“The key to a decarbonized future lies in producing vast amounts of new electricity from sources that emit little to none of the gases, such as wind, solar and hydropower, and then transforming as much of our lives and our industries as possible to run off those sources.
This is just an attempt to cancel Carbon Dioxide. It’s what the left do.
So what do we do on a windless night in a country without hydro? Nothing.
The Greens say dams don’t make water. Which is absurd because the water only needs to be stored, not made.
But batteries don’t make electricity.
Nett zero is not a solution to anything. It’s duck and cover.
Meanwhile the rest of the world has no intention of doing anything so transparently inane.
But tread carefully because China is using our coal to make our windmills, solar panels and electric cars. And paying us money which we use to buy their stuff. Foxy Loxy is laughing.
The sheer stupidity of nett zero is breathtaking. And the Europeans are refusing to walk into the showers.

Even though we’re over 80% *renewable* anyway, with only one (1) coal-fired plant left – which has saved our butts on so many cold, calm, chilly nights despite rumours of *boiling* and *heatwaves* – she, a 20-something who’s never had a real job in her life, ie. university > politricks, claims ‘coal is a killer’ and we need more (toxic) solar windmill batteries to charge our e-bikes and *save the planet* or sumpfink.
So young, so naïve, so dangerous.

In a world where men can get pregnant, this is impossibly complicated.

But the question is how?
20
Try getting through five weeks in Germany in winter as was the case in 2017 when a dunkelflaute event lasted for 5 weeks and solar energy was next to zero.
20
And, David, you know, I am sure, that even if the magic money tree allowed the purchase of these batteries – $200,000 million – let that sink in, just for one state – they still need to be charged.
Batteries do not ‘create’ power or energy.
They store energy.
Energy produced elsewhere … whether by wind, oil, solar, biomass, gas, geothermal, tidal, nuclear, coal, wood, waves, or little Greenie watermelons pedalling like fury on bikes linked to micro-generators …
Without the necessary generation, able to recharge every day, batteries are expensive bits of ‘Modern ART’.
And all this is so supremely unnecessary – CO2 is plant food, not pollution.
Although the watermelons scream otherwise.

Michael Moseley was just another Norman Swan (who hasn’t practiced for 40 years), MM for 30. His shows were like all things on TV, adverts, for his books, other health products or agendas, dutifully purchased by SBS. For example he pushed the Mediterranean diet big time. Meanwhile, in the Med 63% of Greeks over the age of 18 are overweight or obese.
A facility I worked in purchased the diet and gave it free to all the patients. They hardly touched it, preferring fast food. That little gig cost taxpayers thousands.
81
The “Mediterranean Diet” is a fantasy foisted upon us by Lon Chaney’s nephew, the maniacal Ancel Keys. Ancel liked to spend the winter in Piopi in the Greek isles and to justify this he invented a diet. Just before he kicked the bucket Ancel partially recanted his diet heart hypothesis but no one was listening.
50
Ancel Keys has a lot to answer for in terms of our modern diet and science mistruths. I learnt a little about him when I did a deep dive into the whole cholesterol/ statins pseudoscience years ago. It seemed like after he invented the “K Ration” for the US Army during WW2 he could do no wrong. Except he did a lot of wrong in some of the initial studies linking cholesterol to adverse heart health. But, I expect you know all that. Had no idea his nephew was a promoter of the Med Diet. The true Med Diet comes from those Greek Islands where due to necessity you have to eat what’s local and exercise a lot. Its really just a subsistence lifestyle. But like everything, has been blown right out of proportion for the benefit of some in the diet industry. Big Diet.
50
Wow! 63% of Greeks are overweight and your implication is that the Med. diet doesn’t work.
Ok – let’s also mention 92% of Greeks don’t understand nutrition, only 35% know exercise recommendations, only 25% consume the RDI of fruit and veg, 68% don’t exercise at all, and then there’s the regional socio-economic factors where junk food is cheaper than quality food. These are modern problems not historic, like most countries.
Of course vested interests like the sugar industry, which I’ve covered before, have driven consumer choices and “research” demonising fats for 50 years too. Butter IS better for you than margarine, olive oil way better than seed oils.
As for Mosley – he’s produced some great documentaries, with “Blood and guts, a history of surgery” top viewing.
More of a loss to the world than the likes of Fauci will ever be.
50
Mosley convinced thousands of people to get off their couch and do something to improve their health and most of his work did not help Big Pharma make profits. He pushed the bounds on a few sacred cows in the medical world.
The world would be a better place if there were more like him. Even if he was foolishly naive about vaccines.
60
…and went off the rails like Brian Cox who found God & singing, or David Attenborough who found “the left”…
Charisma and passion sells, politics destroys.
20
Who did Brian Cox ever help? The man has sucked out millions in funding and at best has inspired some people to join “establishment science”. He misleads the public about what science really is, and contributes to the net decline of science and our civilization.
Moseley opened the door for thousands to take control of their own health and get off the medical Pharma treadmill of “syndrome X” medications — insulin, painkillers, heart, cancer, and all the other stuff that goes with obesity. Most of his message was “look after yourself”.
He undid some of that good with his vax endorsement. How much? No idea how often he promoted it. But most of his years were spent telling people things the medical establishment could have but didn’t say.
60
“Not practicing for 30 years”,..might just mean that someone with a medical background has much more time for research on current science than an overworked GP with a backlog of patients with backache !
If you are familiar with MMs work you will know that he specialised in testing medical theories and practices, diets, drugs etc, as well as alternatives to pharmacutical solutions.
The Mediterranean diet is fundamentally basic unprocessed foods, and has been accepted by most dieticians as being beneficial compared to modern western processed foods.
I suspect that 63% of greeks eat more processed foods now than historically (pre McDonalds !)
31
Was a big fan of MM mainly because of his presentation style. But was very unimpressed with his diet studies where one group would do one thing and then the other group the opposite. Mostly because it was dressed up as “science”, but at least somewhat entertaining. Like a lot in media he lost points with his attitude on COVID and in particular COVID vaccines. But then I think a lot in the media were just useful idiots, completely believing what the pharmaceutical companies were providing in terms of information. But just a quick Google search away, would have revealed how the biggest corporate fraudsters in history were in fact the same companies involved in the development of those vaccines.(sorry, short term injectable gene manipulation therapy) After all the recalled, failed and dangerous pharmaceuticals like Vioxx etc you would have thought doctors should have known better.
20
Seems like wall to wall anectdotes based on not much re the med diet. I’d be more intrested in longevity and health than someones opinion about weight.
Just to add another anectdote. My wife and I were enjoying a pizza at a rooftop restaurant across from a ferry terminal in summertime France. There was much banter and laughter coming from street level, so we had a look over the handrail. There sat four 60ish males, eating pizza and drinking red wine, smoking cigars and cigarettes, with their shirts open exposing their brown bellys to the sun. My wife figured the public health enforcers could rappel from helicopters at any minute to take them away.

“This is the most significant reality of the world picture now: the wishes of the manager class are going in one direction while the actual dynamics of economy and politics go in the opposite direction. The managers wish for their management of systems to become as centralized and top-down as possible; but the very systems they manage are breaking down and seeking to reorganize at smaller scale, distributed locally. Very interesting stuff.
“3 million years ago, the heliosphere may have collapsed. A new paper just published in Nature Astronomy argues that a dense cloud of gas hit the Solar System, compressing the heliosphere to a fraction of its usual size.
“Earth suddenly was outside the protective bubble,” says Merav Opher of Boston University, the paper’s lead author. “Earth and all the planets were exposed to massive amounts of hydrogen, increased radiation, and interstellar dust.”
Researchers have long wondered if something happened to Earth 2 to 3 million years ago. Deep-sea sediments, Antarctic snow, and lunar samples from that time period all contain extraterrestrial radioactive isotopes (iron-60 and plutonium-244). The peak is quite striking. “
40
Would our astronomers “see” this sort of thing coming?
Where are the doomsday articles?
Should I read more from prepper sites?
10
Yeah, for sure. an increase in iron-60 and plutonium-244 showing up in rainwater and measured using gamma spectroscopy as just one of many methods available to…..scientists, astronomers, nerds, interested people, backyarders, DIYers, and so on. The art of identifying radioactive isotopes is well developed and available to all these days.
I was in a gamma spectroscopy club and many members including me were picking up berylium 7 in our readings at times during 2012 is due to the increased solar activity at the time. We were mainly not looking for that but were instead many of us looking for Cesium 134 from the fukuhsima disaster…It was raining cesium 134 especially Japan back then. Cesium 134/137 is water soluble which is cool and noes not bio accumulate than k goodness. The world of interested people was highly active on this area back then.

What gear were you using?
About 1968 I did some pioneering work with high resolution LN2 cooled Lithium doped Silicone for the range 5 to 120 keV or so, which includes the K and L fluorescent X-rays, a few usefully, plus some work with gammas from uranium and thorium isotopes. Any similarity?

Wow that is pretty cool Geoff.
Purchased my one inch NaI scintillation detector from Ebay manufactured by Bicron and used a sound-card, photo-multiplier tube driver, and free software authored by Marek Dolleiser, PRA via Steven Sesselmann’s ‘Gamma Spectacular’ https://www.gammaspectacular.com/
Marek and Steven often collaborated on the the new and useful features of PRA although there are other free softwares on Stevens meticulous website.
It would have been interesting to bin the respective energy levels back in the day without PC’s and sound cards 🙂

EnvirO,
Above should be Silicon not Silicone. Si(Li).
With NaI gamma detection, I was helping Ranger One with ore sorting. At the start I was asked to optimise use of radioactivity and chemistry for best ore assays. Best was delayed neutron activation analysis by AAEC Lucas Heights Moata reactor.
With other NaI, we flew an Aussie Nomad aircraft for vast kilometres over a quarter of Iran around 1977-8 under the Shah. Terrain clearance was a taxing 80 metres. It did the job well, but always the resolution of NaI(Tl) has been a problem. We did not have too much problem with computers, loggers, A/D converters. Some of us needed to program in machine language on PDP8 vintage gear, but I long ago lost the little skill I learned.

Interesting.
The Homo lineage was developing at about that time, roughly.
Per Wiki-thingy [that even I can edit] the ‘earliest sign of genus Homo‘ was about 2.75-2.8 million years ago.
I don’t know the error bars on either the 3 or the 2.75-2.8 million figures.
I wonder if this – heliosphere collapse – could have had any effects on Earth, and if those suggested effects, if found, may have affected the evolution of our ancestors.
Whilst I imagine that – with imagination – a putative connection can be found [especially if there may be grant money available], but establishing its likelihood may keep a lot of palaeontologists in post for many years.
Perhaps we speak no more of this, therefore!

Would you like tyres with your salad?
Scientists have found in leafy vegetables traces of several chemicals used to prevent the aging and corrosion of car tyres.
Through normal wear and tear, tyres cast off countless tiny bits of rubber, which linger in the atmosphere or are washed down sewage drains and into waterways. In the air, these particles can affect the formation of clouds. In the water, they leach compounds that have been shown to be toxic to wildlife.
New research adds to the growing evidence that car tyres are a considerable source of pollution. For the study, scientists tested leafy vegetables that had been grown in Switzerland, Spain, and Italy and sold in Swiss supermarkets. They also tested vegetables harvested directly from farmland in Israel.
Tire ingredients were found in 11 of 15 samples gathered from Swiss supermarkets and nine of 13 samples collected from Israeli fields. Among the chemicals discovered was 6PPD, an additive used to prevent cracking, which can transform into a compound that has proved deadly to coho salmon. The findings were published in Frontiers in Environmental Science.
Scientists say that farmers may be introducing tyre additives by irrigating crops with treated wastewater or by using sewage sludge as fertilizer. It is also likely that airborne particles are settling on the soil. Tire chemicals are taken up by crops and, eventually, consumed by people.
https://e360.yale.edu/digest/tire-chemicals-vegetables-study
Interestingly too, Tesla has some wheel camber and caster figures that accelerate tyre wear even more compared to ICE vehicles.
20
Generally, camber and caster settings do not affect tyre wear significantly.
The dominant suspension setting in tyre wear is toe adjustment which can be a problem on any vehicle with independant rear suspension, and even more so on those vehicles with adjustable ride height ( air suspension) such as the Tesla S and X
Fortunately Toe settings are easily checked and adjusted by any competent mechanic.
By far the biggest factor in tyre wear generally is the driving style ,..fast, agressive accelleration or braking and cornering can destroy tyres in a few thousand kms, compared to the 50-100,000 km a gentle driver might get from the same vehicle/ tyre combination !
50
And a major motivation is the acceleration, comparable to a super car at a fraction of the price. And all four wheels often, which means there is little point doubling life by swapping back and front.
20
Or a real supercar, the Bugatti Veyron. Tyres $42,000 each. (That’s $A64,000 + GST)
20
The problem with camber is the inside tread wear it promotes is counteracted by adding more toe-in to keep the wear even across the tyre. Every boy racer with a degree of negative camber is used to tyres that last 20,000km.
Meanwhile, exactly the same things happen to microplastics of course, so if we don’t want rubber and plastic inside our cells, we’ll have to give them both up! Its starting to look like the industrial revolution was a mistake.
10
Whilst certainly micro-plastics are new, isn’t it the case that small, tiny, microparticles have always blown about the place, and – obviously – ended up in the diets of animals, including our ancestors [at least, once they left tropical rain-forests, which quite possibly reduced the radius of action of the dust particles].
Much of the time, you ate whatever you could get, as you didn’t know where your next meal was coming from.
And that probably applied to the ancestors of tigers and tenrecs, squirrels, servals and sheep, as well as Australopithecus.
The question – I suggest – is whether the ‘new’ particles, like micro-plastics, tyre detritus etc., are significantly different in their effects.

Scientists Begin Injecting mRNA into Cows to Protect Humans Against Bird Flu
U.S. scientists from the departments of Agriculture, and Center for Disease Control, have begun trials of mRNA spike protein injections into cattle to protect both humans and cows against Bird Flu.
It is unclear how the scientists now trialing the cow-vaccine developed it, seemingly out of nowhere, in a matter of days, prompting some commentators to suggest that it would be simply impossible to have created the vaccine in a matter of days and that they must have had it ready to go.
If successful, all Dairy and Meat producing herds will receive the mRNA technology according to the researchers. This is the first time that mRNA proteins will be used on animals. It effectively introduces the spike protein into the food chain, and, under US law, food producers won’t have to tell you if their cows received the jab. All beef, cheese and milk products could potentially become contaminated.

Vaxx ready to roll ahead of time, just like Covid Fakevax ™…
And of course bird flu in humans would be a VERY convenient excuse for all that would otherwise be attributed, justly, to Fakevax ™.
One way or another they’re going to get you to take their potion.😉
Eating Beef and Chicken During the Bird Flu Outbreak: What to Know
On Monday, the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced it had collected 30 samples of ground beef sold at grocery stores for testing in states where outbreaks of bird flu in dairy cows had occurred. On Wednesday, they announced all the samples tested were negative for the H5N1 bird flu virus.
They remain confident that the meat supply is safe and does not pose a risk to humans.
The FDA has also tested samples of additional products to ensure safety. These included sour cream, cottage cheese, retail powdered infant formula, and powdered milk products marketed as toddler formula.
On Tuesday, they announcedTrusted Source that all samples had also tested negative for the virus.
Can humans get bird flu from beef, chicken, milk, or eggs?
You’re not likely to contract bird flu from eating beef or chicken, according to Dan Gallagher, a Registered Dietitian with Aegle Nutrition.
“The chances of getting sick from eating chicken or beef, even with the bird flu outbreak, are still incredibly low,” he noted.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has a Food Safety and Inspection Service inspection program to ensure that sick animals do not enter the food supply.
Gallagher said, “If you’re worried about potential infection, make sure you’re cooking your meat thoroughly and you’ll have no problems.”
Additionally, May said that when it comes to eggs, you should be fine if you cook them completely and do not leave them runny.
“The virus is highly vulnerable to heat, and standard cooking temperatures are more than sufficient to kill it off entirely,” she said.
As far as milk and dairy products, pasteurization will kill any bird flu virus that might be present.
https://www.healthline.com/health-news/bird-flu-beef-chicken-safe#Can-humans-get-bird-flu-from-beef,-chicken,-milk,-or-eggs?
How Pasteurization Kills Bird Flu Virus in Milk
Experts have continued to emphasize the lack of any evidence or reason to believe that viable bird flu virus will get through pasteurization. On May 1, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) released a statement reassuring the public that “preliminary testing did not detect any live, infectious virus” in fluid milk, cottage cheese, and sour cream. The tests “show that pasteurization is effective in inactivating HPAI.”
Unlike sterilization, pasteurization does not eliminate every microbe a product may contain. Its primary purpose, instead, is to ensure that pathogens are destroyed with a 99.999% reduction. Pasteurization does this by heating products to a certain temperature for a certain time, the specifics of which are based on the biology of pathogen in question and the characteristics of the food or beverage being heated.
Generally, though, “anything can be inactivated by temperature, it’s just a matter of how high and how long,” says David Swayne, a Georgia-based poultry veterinarian who specializes in avian influenza, and the former director of the U.S. Department of Agriculture Southeast Poultry Research Laboratory.
H5N1 is an enveloped virus, meaning that it has a lipid-based outer wrapping that protects its genetic material and other essential components. Heat delivered through pasteurization dissipates this envelope and destroys some of the essential proteins in the virus’s structure.
“The envelope just starts to melt away,” says Erwin Duizer, a virologist at the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment in the Netherlands. “And if the envelope from a virus is basically gone, then the virus is not infectious anymore.”
https://www.thinkglobalhealth.org/article/how-pasteurization-kills-bird-flu-virus-milk
Cook meat thoroughly, core temp 75C minimum, cook eggs properly – no runniness, stick to pasteurised products.
Follow simple steps and the risk is zero, as any real govt health expert SHOULD know, so fear mongering nonsense is just that.
