Many years ago – maybe two decades ago – I attended a lecture on “global warming” at the NSW Museum in Sydney.
The warming theory was in its infancy. I recall asking the “expert” precisely about the effect of clouds in particular. “We don’t know” was the coy answer. A pity they didn’t pursue the obvious.

Ahh, good old Ned Nikolov. The one of few people who actually understand how the earth’s atmosphere actually works. Also, very knowledgeable about diet and was gold standard in his publications of all the mRNA vaccine faults.

Reminds me owning old English cars
71
Gawd they were horrible weren’t they. Owned one. Can’t believe some folks still restore them.
44
They were creatures of their time and place. I think it does take at least a slight masochistic trait to live with one
20
They are pretty simple! No emissions control, simple ignition system, carb and petrol pump. I drove my 66 Rover to work today. It runs great!
20
You have to realise that the problem is not when they are leaking oil but when they stop leaking oil.
10
This English car never leaked oil –

As an owner of an OBC (Old British Car) I can attest to the recycling of oil into the earth so that the natural reservoirs become replenished. Another side benefit is that the chassis and nearby steel parts become rust inhibited (hopefully)!

Slow Tuesday?
Apart from that, I report a difficulty in reading comments on this site. Many comments are of great pertinence and insight but too many use abbreviations which I do not understand. I ask, would writers spell out in full the words they intend rather than use an abbreviation without explanation.
Thanks.

I doubt much will change. Acronyms and abbreviations are usually easily resolved by using the Interwebs.

Our BSA, Broadcasting Standards Association, is pronounced ‘B.S. eh!’ because, literally, it is.

It’s good the BSA has a TLA

A fair request from Lucky. We don’t want to lose people from the conversation due to jargon.
It would be helpful if people ask when they see a term they don’t know. Someone else will know the answer and it acts as a useful reminder of how best to pitch the conversation…

“The vector of development that the internet and society is traveling leads away from extraordinary people sharing unique beliefs, and toward a tyranny of mediocrity. It is a preference for “normal” so strong that it extinguishes excellence; a ruthless allegiance to the average.”
Edward Snowden
90
And yet here we are sharing unique beliefs.
41
But even here there is a lot of groupthink, evidenced by the red thumbs.

>And yet here we are…
We’re bucking the trend

Glenn Greenwald:
In case you think it’s an exaggeration to say that the paramount priority of Western elites is to control the flow of speech and information on the internet, listen to the supremely German authoritarian EU President, Ursula @vonderleyen, say it explicitly and at length:

Wont be missed , apprently he was a pain in the proverbial for the EU long before his weird tirade at Musk. He must have been pretty bad as the place is full of self agrandizing egos.

Frost in the Adelaide hills? In mid-September? Or did BoM pull out the wrong tarot card? Frost in Canberra doesn’t surprise me: who’d want to live there anyway. Meanwhile our Great Coldwave of 2024 continues:
-6 C Queenstown this morning
-15 up at The Remarkables Ski Area
-20 Mt Cook summit (-34 windchill)
Snow forecast to continue another 7 days
(similar to Australia’s high-country)
Alpine road passes CLOSED
‘Yellow Snow’ warnings for North Island mountains
Further north, I’m sweltering on 12 C max. If it wasn’t for that existential heat I’d probably be freezing too. Hooray for carbon!
80
Got to protect from frost summer seedlings like tomatoes until November in Canberra.
As reported by me yesterday – coldest September overnight temperature ever.
50
Yes and the old adage was not to plant tomatoes outdoors in Canbrrrrrrr until after Melbourne Cup Day.
30
‘ … coldest September overnight temperature ever.’
Now you are just being alarmist, its only weather.

“unique beliefs” ?
Like Greta indulges in?
That’s not science which is about understanding, based on step by step development and thorough testing.

My energy retailer for cheaper electricity (AGL) just sent me a challenge!
They are willing to give me $5 credit to use if I draw less than 450wH from 6:30-7:30pm tonight.
Easy Peasy. My account is $700 in credit already lol.
I will bring forward my microwave/pressure cooker use I have planned.
(oh and the 3KwH battery means my total 24 hr grid consumption is about 450wH)
I wonder if I will get dropped as I am nearly off grid-
BTW The battery is way of compensating for my export and also a hedge against future
drop in feed in tariffs. The company that installed it wanted me to install 5KWH but
I am miserly (remember AHPRA gave me the gift of early retirement!). I note that
the battery will allow grid use for a largish load for minutes rather than ramp up the
output. A 3rd party company that is dedicated to closing coal powered power stations wants
to control my battery- I reckon that is a racket and I won’t have a bar of it!

Just in case you still possess a tiny, lingering belief that leftists can be reasoned with, this is what Joy Reid, a black presenter on America’s MSNBC, said about the gunmen involved in the attempted assassinations of Trump:
“Both of whom are white, American, Trump-supporting men with guns.
I kid you not.
100
Wow… I’m with you Steve. No one uses “whom” any more.

‘A new study provides a fresh look at the circular, self-contradictory reasoning that proponents of the anthropogenic global warming (AGW) narrative routinely employ.
‘The authors acknowledge that the Central and East Pacific region has been cooling since 1970, and that climate models failed to simulate this cooling. The modeling failure stems from the assumption that rising greenhouse gas emissions lead to warming, not over four decades of cooling.’ (Notrickszone)

What do you think, fellow bloggers, will I be legally prosecuted if I openly expressed my opinion of Victorian ex-DPP Kerri Judd, now a Supreme Court Judge.
It is a serious question – are laypeople allowed to criticise judges?

If you want to criticise any Govt official you’d better go to Russia, in the West Govt criticism will get you locked up.
Still, we will all meet in person as cell-mates in the near future! Maybe they have a retirement home with bars for elderly political prisoners…

Caitlin Johnstone, on elections and ‘democracy’
“Elections are rigged in this way by a fairly small group of plutocrats and empire managers, not just in the United States but throughout the western world. They rig our entire political system in their favor, and then have the gall to tell us we all need to freak out because some Russians made some Facebook memes near an election season…
That’s why you see candidates arguing not about WHETHER wars should happen, but WHICH wars should happen, and HOW they should occur. It’s why you see them accusing one another of being too weak and dovish on foreign policy instead of attacking each other as reckless warmongers…”

This is getting absurd, frankly. That Harris creature is completely clueless and the fact that she is the Democrats’ candidate for president simply beggars belief. I can only assume that she expects people will vote for her based simply on how lovely and caring she is (in her own head), plus of course she’s female and apparently black (and getting blacker).
Does the have a plan though? Well I think she does, sort of. Her plan is to sit behind that big desk in the White House telling her people to do whatever it is they do, plus fly around the world in Airforce One attending lavish banquets and being photographed with world leaders. That’s it. That’s her plan.
As a consequence of having no clue, no plan and no ideas, we just keep getting ever more embarrassing ‘interviews’. And millions of Americans will vote for this:

Weird games Govts play-
“North Korea recently sent garbage balloons to South Korea once again . Several thousand have been sent since May , and the 20th anniversary launch took place recently. Everything happens according to the standard scheme: North Korea sends “gifts”, and the South waits for them to fall on their own to then remove the waste. They refuse to shoot down such air targets on principle due to fear of damaging the infrastructure.
Pyongyang is well aware of this and does not plan to reduce the scale of such raids….And although public discontent with the South Korean authorities’ approach is growing, the government is not yet planning to take serious measures to combat the problem. It also does not plan to reduce the scale of anti-DPRK propaganda broadcast across the border, which is the formal reason for the launches of balloons from garbage dumps. ”

Deep Intel on Israel’s Use of Exploding Pagers Against Hezbollah (video)
If a small microcontroller was connected to monitor the display for a specific pattern of signals and was connected to the detonator that would be a simple way to do it. As such all that would be required is to add the additional circuitry. It’s something that anyone with basic electronics skills could have done.
