Former CDC head says Covid virus origin was biodefense research, maybe in North Carolina

By Jo Nova

It’s just another day in an endless round of blockbuster stories that once would have occupied a news cycle and foreign affairs panels for days…

Robert Redfield, the former head of the Centres for Disease Control (CDC), now says COVID-19 was ‘intentionally engineered as a part of a biodefense program. More radically, it may well have been a US program. He thinks there is a real possibility Covid-19 originated in a lab in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

So the virus that may have killed 20 million people, cost trillions, changed history and wreaked havoc across the world, might have grown from a US experiment. This won’t be a shock to people following this topic on blogs and on X. But to have the former head of the CDC during the pandemic talking about it, takes these claims to a whole new level.

Isn’t it time we talked about bioweapon research?

Right now around the world, some 36,000 scientists are working on bioweapons, and those are the scientists we know about. One year ago, a warehouse in California was discovered by chance to be a clandestine biolab that housed frozen samples of things labelled Dengue, Malaria and Ebola.

As RFK Jnr explained it last year — Anthony Fauci was not only a “director of health”, he was also a director of bioweapons.

Trump’s former CDC director makes bombshell COVID claim that ‘there is a real possibility’ virus was born in North Carolina

By Stephen M Lepore for the Daily Mail

Covid, Coronavirus, Bioweapons.Appearing on the Third Opinion podcast, Redfield flat out stated that COVID-19 was ‘intentionally engineered as a part of a biodefense program.’ However, he calls the United States’ role in the development of the virus ‘substantial.’

He claims that the American government holds responsibility for funding research into the NIH, USAID and the Department of Defense.  He then calls out researcher Dr. Ralph Baric from the University of North Carolina, whom he calls ‘the scientific mastermind’ behind all of this.

‘I think he probably helped create some of the original viral lines, but I can’t prove that. But he was very involved,’ he said.

When pressed on whether the virus was ‘actually developed here’ and that the Chinese may have been wrongfully accused of developing the virus, Redfield doubles down.

‘Well, I don’t know if they were framed, but I think there is a real possibility that the virus’s birthplace was Chapel Hill,’ Redfield said, naming the hometown of the University of North Carolina.

Still no one is held to account for the biggest industrial accident in history:

Trump’s Former CDC Chief Suggests US Origin for COVID: ‘Can’t Prove That’

By Jess Thompson, Newsweek

“When you look at the accountability for China, their accountability is not in the lab work and in the creation of the virus. Their accountability is not following the international health regulations after they realized that they had a problem. And allowing people like me at CDC to come in and to help them within 48 hours like they were obligated to, based on the treaty. But the U.S. role was substantial,” he said.

“One is they funded the research both from NIH [National Institutes of Health], the State Department, USAID, and the Defense Department. All four of those agencies helped fund this research. Secondly, the scientific mastermind behind this research is a guy named Ralph Baric at the University of North Carolina, and he was very involved in this research. I think he probably helped create some of the original viral lines, but I can’t prove that. But he was very involved.”

Newsweek contacted Ralph Baric, the NIH, the State Department and USAID. The latter said they don’t fund “gain-of-function” research. (Though definitions of “gain of function” shrink and expand like elastic bands to fit.) Most officials who disagreed said there was “no evidence” it was man-made. Which is largely true because the CCP destroyed the samples and the digital data, in some cases, before they even admitted anyone was getting sick:

“In August, September [2019], the initial cases of COVID in Wuhan began. Clearly, by the middle of September, there was a significant problem. OK, because—and I can’t remember the exact date. I think it’s in the public domain now, it was classified, but I think it was Sept. 19—but they did three things,” Redfield said.

They changed the leadership of the lab. So it was a dual-use lab. They changed it from civilian to military. So the military was now put in charge of the lab. They did something highly irregular, which is they deleted the research sequences of COVID viruses that they had done years before. So the whole database was deleted.”

If Covid was a US creation in part or full, or US funded programs were involved, this could explain why no one in the highest layers of medical power in the United States pushed for an investigation in Wuhan. And the UN was useless too.

Redfield, at least admitted he personally should have pushed harder for the CDC to be allowed into the lab at Wuhan.

The original interview was with a Dana Parish — 3rd Opinion podcast released on November 14. Available on X and on Spotify.

Hm. Last time I looked on the map Wuhan and North Carolina were rather far apart. Are they saying that someone made the virus in NC and then put it in a container 12 Monkeys style and brought it to China? Or did they ‘design’ the genetic alterations on a computer in NC and have dupes in Wuhan make it? Neither sounds plausible or practical to me. Does Mr Redfield perchance have a book to sell?

A complete load of Rubbish. Dr. Fauci has “doctored” everything. He even admitted that he misled (lied) to the US Congress about the ‘Game of Function’ at the Wuhan Lab –

In a now-infamous 2021 exchange with Sen. Rand Paul (R–Ky.), Anthony Fauci—the former longtime head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and former chief medical advisor to the president—said that the National Institutes of Health (which oversees NIAID) “has not ever and does not now fund gain-of-function research in the Wuhan Institute of Virology.”

We now know this is not true.

A treasure trove of documents uncovered by congressional investigators and dogged investigative journalists has established that the NIAID was funding gain-of-function research on bat coronaviruses at the Wuhan Lab via a grant to the scandal-plagued nonprofit EcoHealth Alliance (which the Biden administration just debarred from receiving federal funding).

These revelations lead to the inescapable conclusion that Fauci was being misleading at best (and dishonest at worst) about the NIH-funded research at Wuhan. It also has fueled eminently reasonable speculation that that research precipitated a lab leak at Wuhan which caused the COVID-19 pandemic.

There are very legitimate reasons to be studying diseases, even after gain of function has been applied. The need for secrecy is the problem.

Why should a government be spending money on an infectious disease and this study not be published. All information, the initial grant application, the winners of the grants, the progress reports, (submitted annually) and the final report and statements of what happened to all the material created.

Secrecy is the reason that diseases can be MADE and released by accident or other. If the public are aware, then they may be able to make a political decision to promote or stop this work. With secrecy, the public will never know, if that’s the excuse for it, then surely there are several hundred public servants due for immediate dismissal.

It’s not their money, open the books. Let the public know what you are doing under their funding.

This is the key debate of our era Eng_Ian (assuming we don’t nuke ourselves first). If there are an infinite variety of deadly lethal potential viruses, should we try to create each and every one in a laboratory to make vaccines in advance, which take ten years to safety test, and which viruses can evolve around in months? Should we store these dangerous items long term, risking a leak, terrorist attack, or extortion. Should we publish the sequences of RNA or DNA so terrorists in a lab can recreate them? Should we publish the sequences of the antibodies that we hope will save us, which would allow an enemy to create a virus that the antibodies and vaccines won’t work against?

I’m normally a free market, full transparency kind of girl, but I don’t think the gain from these experiments is worth the risk.

There are far better ways to deal with the dangers posed by viruses. I’d rather we build an arsenal of antiviral medicines that we can use at a moments notice. I’d rather we research ways to excise embedded viruses from within our cells. I’d rather we studied how to regenerate our immune systems to prevent the lymphocyte depletion that occurs with age.

What if we could restore elderly immunity to its thirty-something strength? Suddenly the risks are reduced significantly, and as a side effect, lives are enriched, and possibly extended.

The impossible conundrum with allowing people to create a deadly virus and a vaccine for it, is that the inventors have a $100b incentive for the vaccine to get used. It’s just a stupid set of incentives.

Possibly. It may have gotten its start at a pig farm, spread across the US, brought to Europe where it mutated into its much more virulent form and came back to the USA.

The reason it got stuck with the Spanish Flu name was that Spanish newspapers were more likely to report on it. Countries closer to the front lines of WWI didn’t want the other side to know a lot of the soldiers were very sick and out of commission. (Or dead.)

In Australia, prior to the release of Big Pharma’s genetic concoctions, statistics published by the government showed that the virus affected almost exclusively older people, and the average age of persons dying of/with the virus were essentially the same as current life expectancy. I am not sure what the excess deaths statistics showed for the same period. So in terms of what was likely to kill you, one report I read placed Cov19 at No. 38. Hardly the emergency that would necessitate the brutal reaction by our various state government.

I visited Queensland towards the end of 2019 and contracted an upper respiratory virus. It had an unusual presentation – high fever, slight dry cough and shortness of breath at rest. So much so that I thought I’d developed severe bronchopneumonia. I was probably the sickest I have ever been. Cleared up in 7days. Later when the Covid pandemic presented I tried to get antibody tests but was denied them.

I worked as a GP for a number of years before specialising in intensive care and anaesthesia. I have seen and treated innumerable patients with respiratory diseases.

Why would America collude with China to develop bioweapons? By definition they are for use in warfare, and the accepted wisdom today is that the next ‘big one’ will feature America on one side and China on the other. So why did the US scientists (allegedly) share the research with a Chinese lab? It would be like the US jointly developing hypersonic missile tech with China.

That said, it appears that this research might have been, to some extent at least, hidden from the US government, so maybe the people driving it weren’t necessarily putting their respective governments first? If that is the case, who really WAS leading it, and why?

For the sake of accuracy, it wasn’t the virus that ‘cost trillions, changed history and wreaked havoc across the world’. It was bureaucrats, politicians and journalists who did that, and this ubiquitous blaming of a virus only protects them from the consequences of their malfeasance. The origin of the so-called covid virus is irrelevant. The covid pandemic was simply an illusion created by the use of a not fit for purpose PCR test. The creator of the PCR test Kary Mullis stated that with PCR, you can find almost anything in anybody as well stating the PCR test doesn’t tell you what you ended up with made you sick. The illusion of a pandemic was created by deceptively registering any death with a positive PCR result as a covid death regardless of the actual cause of death.

For example, if someone with late-stage terminal cancer returned a positive covid test, then in many instances, upon death, that person’s death would be registered as a covid death rather than death due to cancer which was real reason the person died.

Statistical analysis shows that the mean age at death for covid was not statistically different for the mean age at death for all-cause mortality.

Maybe not keep regular lifestyle routines, mix it up a little. Keep an eye out for dark colored vans parked in the street. This could be the old limited hangout trick and we should probably pay more attention to what he didn’t say. It might be irrelevant anyway because I get the sense the “ people” want to move on from COVID. Just in our country we can’t even get a Royal Commission into the COVID bollocks. Why I decided ( right from the start ) not to allow myself to be injected with the Covid vaccine :
First off I decided to do some due diligence , something it seems that most people didn’t do .
Already suspicious because the usual 7 years of safety and efficacy trials appeared to have not been done as the “vaccine” seems to have been developed from when the virus was discovered in a matter of months . Also obvious lies about Hydroxychloroquine rang alarm bells .
An internet search discovered 2 articles on Moderna :
    https://www.statnews.com/2016/09/13/moderna-therapeutics-biotech-mrna/
    and:
    https://www.statnews.com/2017/01/10/moderna-trouble-mrna/
Back then it was a lot easier to find things like this than now . The internet is full of crap now .
Safety issues with the lipid nanoparticles seemed very real and I have seen no proof that these problems have been solved ( even now ) .
Since then more details have been filled in by various articles by Robert Malone and others to confirm my initial decision .
Note the date on these articles . I have these links saved in a folder labeled “ The bastards knew “ .
Now I think RFK Jr is the perfect box of laxetts to put through all the “ Health Officials “ who lied so much and caused so much harm . I am part way through his book . He knows what went on , or much of it anyway !
The origins of the Covid19 virus is one question , larger questions remain about the response by authorities .

Agree with all of that. Husband and I were all ready to be vaccinated until a poor lady known to our family died immediately after being vaccinated with AZ. She was one of the only ones, I guess because it was early in the pandemic, to be acknowledged as having died as a result of vaccination. This sent us into a spin to get up-to-date with understanding the history of research re corona viruses. It wasn’t long before we discovered the work being done by Dr. Robert Malone, Steve Kirsch, Bret Weinstein and then so many distinguished epidemiologists etc who eventually signed The Great Barrington Declaration. There was no way, then, that we would consent to mRNA vaccination.

Subsequently, we have met and become friends with some noted opponents of the vaccines within the medical profession (all retired, of course!) who further explained the problems. So you are right, Delcon, as with most things in life – you can listen to the “experts”, but must do as much personal research as you can. This is called critical thinking – and it is rapidly becoming a rare endeavour in our society!

For me, it was just the name ‘mRNA’ vaccine. It sounded like ‘DNA’ and so I thought it was going to alter recipients’ DNA, which seemed dodgy. I then spent a little time trying to find out the meaning and literally opened a Pandora’s Box of questions and thought, “What the heck is all THIS?” I decided to wait and see how the early adopters fared and didn’t like what I was seeing. When vaccine mandates became a thing, that sealed the deal for me. Whenever a salesman says I must buy RIGHT NOW, I walk away.

Great story Vicki- I think a lot us could detail the awakening moment regarding COVID and especially the vaccines. I’ve been on Twitter/X now for 12 years and follow some very knowledgeable honest contributors. Early on in 2020 I learnt specifically about Gain of Function and then mRNA technology. Neither of which I knew a thing about. The quite amazing thing was that information on GoF and the faulty mRNA technology was quite easy to find. It was all reported in scientific journals and also general media. Plus, Jo’s blog has also been a valuable resource of info. But then those same contributors that I followed were censored, banned, kicked off (then Twitter) or shadow banned. Didn’t matter, by that stage I had enough scepticism to call BS on all things COVID and I knew the last place to get reliable information was (i) government (ii) MSM.

Anyone had a good look at the contracts for the vaccines the Aus Govt signed?

Not the Public/Voters, as those contracts are secret and in confidence, blah, blah, blah – They are the ones who paid for it all with Taxpayer/Borrowed money. None of their Business after all. /Sarc.

Australian company CSL offered vaccines for around $500 million but the Morrison government accepted Moderna’s $2 billion bid. On the other hand, India rejected the offer of mRNA vaccines being donated by Moderna and Pfizer because a legal waiver would need to be signed to procure the donated shots.

It’s starting to look as though Fauci makes Heydrich and Mengele look like humanitarians.

I think it is important to recognise that Medicine does not equal Science – what separates the two is ethics, that you cannot truly experiment on humans, controlling all variables. So medicine is more about mathematics and statistics than truly Science.

To see the ‘ethics’ of medicine so twisted – that the trial had to be unblinded because it would be ‘immoral to not protect the control group from COVID’. From that twisted logic, you end up at vaccine mandates.

“What is medical research, why is it being done, and what is the market failure government needs to address with funding?” – I reckon we need to ask these more fundamental questions before we toss around jargon like ‘gain of function’

    Mike Reed,
Well as a high school biology teacher and having taught the kids about vaccines our immune response in terms of cytokines T cells ,B cells antigens and antibodies I was astounded that a brand new
technique in vaccination was to be tried out on the population and it was mRNA as the delivery method . I went – in my mind-this has never been done before in the history of medicine and what might be the consequences
of turning my body into a factory to make the spike protein well boy did my red flags go up and I explained to anybody that would listen (with diagrams too) that one almost certain outcome was clotting in small blood vessels -capillaries technically called thrombocytopenia. And what has followed would be the consequences of this technology ie pericarditis and the big killer Myocarditis ,I have personally seen the sudden death syndrome in sadly a few people who I have known that were friends .Then the term “negative efficacy ” turns up that means actually causing the down regulation of your immune system technically it would turn
off the P53 gene toll like receptors the very things that interrupt cancers and their spreading throughout the body. So our government through the TGA and APRHA ridiculed and threatened deregistration of any medicos
who called out this fraud. I think the says it all.
    Cheers Mike Reed

    Prediction:
In a distant future, providing truthful history survives the UN, Wikipeed, Googly, and LietoUTube …
or the US Democrats do not succeed in Christmas gifting the world with MAD to stop MAGA and save PRIDE …
The Great Pandemic will be viewed not as a medical or contagion event …
    but as a POLITICAL event.

We will see a continuing narrative confusion drone attacks designed to keep everyone distracted by the ‘science’ debate.
Deflecting from the real political event.
Same as it ever was with the Climate debate.
And the wealth continues to transfer.
Until the taxpayer well is finally dry.

Lots of writers have documented all of this. Debbie Lerman at Brownstone.org and Paula Jardine at conservativewoman.com.uk, in particular. It all goes back to 2000, to Fauci’s “bug to drug” paper and then his installation as our biowarfare czar. Wuhan was cleverly set up as the patsy. I actually think now that it was a gigantic political intervention that allowed the Dems to rig the 2020 election with lockdowns, lockboxes, and mail-in voting. Biden, a man who was already showing signs of dementia, somehow got 10 million more votes that Kamala Harris. And I don’t know if anyone remembers, but Biden actually made a slip at one point and said that there was an army of fraudsters out there working for him.

This 2008 paper with Ralph Baric’s name on it is worth a read:

Synthetic recombinant bat SARS-like coronavirus is infectious in cultured cells and in mice

… Here, we report the design, synthesis, and recovery of the largest synthetic replicating life form, a 29.7-kb bat severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS)-like coronavirus (Bat-SCoV), a likely progenitor to the SARS-CoV epidemic. …

The evidence of a crime has been clear enough to allow a prosecution from the very early months of covid. What follows: the conspiracy cover up, is arguably as bad a crime as the original.

https://drmcfillin.substack.com/p/the-billion-dollar-brain-myth Since 2000, American taxpayers have bankrolled over $40 billion in NIMH’s futile quest to reduce human suffering to faulty genes and brain circuits. While hardworking families watched their tax dollars vanish into laboratories searching for genetic markers and neural pathways, suicide rates soared, youth mental health collapsed, and communities lost crucial resources for actual healing.

Visit NIMH’s website and witness the grotesque spectacle of career academics and government bureaucrats parading their scientific theatrics – billions poured into impressive-sounding projects that produce nothing of value. While mental health outcomes plummet, these bureaucrats, comfortably ensconced in their laboratories, congratulate themselves on studying rat brains and genetic markers. “Neural circuit mapping,” “genomic research,” “domain criteria studies” – each grant masquerades as progress while Americans suffer.

From my perspective the whole COVID-19 saga was about ignorance (from beginning to even now) and didn’t that show in so called expert opinions e.g. lock downs, shutting schools, isolating healthy people after unproven ‘contact with the infection’ under a test regime which appeared to be run by a bunch of amateurs using well known unreliable testing methods poorly. All the things WHO had listed as ‘Do Not Do!’ were done and several times over.

The WHO’s advice about infectious ‘flu was as appropriate in 2019 as it is now with one of the most important pieces of advice being not closing schools or locking down and so what went so wrong there with the supposed COVID-19 experts and who the hell appointed them at senior political level.

We paid for and still pay for professional experts in academia and what do we get if it isn’t a bunch of well heeled amateur incompetents (especially when it comes to a seasonal flu pandemic needing well known special mitigation measures i.e. NOT lock downs) because they constantly insisted that they and only they knew what was right to do. Sweden and others used their local experts’ brains and got better value for money. Pity leaders elsewhere were not up to a bit of personal responsibility when a consensus umbrella would stop them from any possibility of getting wet (did they give a damn or is the easy way out a natural consensus favourite?).

Is it any wonder we are up to our necks in brown stuff and nowhere good to go when it comes to climate science.

    Are you sitting comfortably?

This story has not appeared, so far as I can see, on the BBC.

That must be the shock of the decade, at least.
But ‘Auntie’ does follow the – er – guidance it is issued with.
Persecute the shade of Al Fayed [billionaire, now dead, but who seems to have been a monster of sexual offence against young women] – but not a virus killing millions …
The BBC’s silence on Jimmy Saville – a similar predator, but, perhaps, of even younger people of both sexes – might be explained by him being a BBC ‘Star’.
And utter silence on the implosion of Electric Vehicles, and the whole watermelon fantasy about ‘Green power’

Yet still boosting hydrogen; energy storage through compressed air, little dams in Scotland, flywheels, and Car-to-grid EVs … and saying nothing about the real challenges keeping the lights on – let alone running a modern society, with steel concrete, plastics and fertiliser – into 2025.
Even without the Return of the Dunkelflaute.
