“But nothing has shaken the determination of the Biden Administration – and the wind industry – to continue to subsidize and fast-track their permitting despite rising opposition.
One might ask why.
And yet, the answer must be obvious. The windbags have committed to wind at any price (they get others to pay) and cannot back away now without losing their investments in both wind and wind politics.” (CFACT, now).
How much longer before this all comes crashing down?
220
And after it crashes you can be sure of one thing; there won’t be any cleanup.

At least the unused windmills can be put to good use.

Ignorant Leftists (a tautology, I know) tore down a statue in Tasmania.
These are the same imbeciles who proudly wear Che Guevara t-shirts and being utterly ignorant (or not) of the atrocities he committed or who march in support of terrorists.

I am somewhat impressed that the G5 geomagnetic storm caused no power system or other outages. The grid, as unstable as it is due to wind and solar, must have been adequately hardened in various countries. Lessons must have been learned after the storm in 1989 which caused grid outages in the US and Canada.
I haven’t heard “climate change” yet blamed for the geomagnetic storm. Perhaps Leftists were too busy supporting terrorists or tearing down statues.
As a radio amateur I noticed various radio bands were very quiet. An over-energised ionosphere is just as detrimental to radio comms as an under-energised one. However, today, shortwave radio is primarily only used by radio amateurs or for Chinese propaganda. Few critical comms go by shortwave.

What evidence do you have that Over The Horizon Radar is real?
WRE at Edinburgh RAAF base was playing around with it in the ’60s. People have been “playing around” with it since, but I don’t call that “real”.

I have a medical doctor friend, a seemingly rational thinker, but was appalled when he told me he has just had his seventh covid jab despite all the info I have given him. His son is also multiple jabbed and on his second or third sickness with covid.
The more covid “vaccine” jabs you have, the greater harm to you and the more susceptible you are to getting covid (as has been reported here and elsewhere).
250
Hi David,
My sister in laws father is on covid jab number 9. He is 96 years old. Go figure.
80
Dementia?
60
Virtue signalling?
20
After 9 jabs, you would expect someone to think about how effective it is as a vaccine. I expect the better path would be to get repeated doses of Covid because it is now a relatively benign infection.
80
I am still seeing lots of people in the street, shops and public transport wearing obedience masks.
What’s with that?
220
The awareness of airborne infection is much higher and masks are now readily, cheaply available.
The question is whether the people wearing masks have a cold or fear one.
Most of my friends who travel by air after a brutal lockdown get the flu. Which means that people with the flu are traveling regardless. Few seem to care how many they infect. Not their problem. It would be better for everyone if they wore masks.
614
Its more complicated than that- Masks don’t stop it so the best you might get would be a reduction, perhaps. Covid is spread via sewerage aerosols, and a plane is a perfect place to spread that, as is anywhere with recycling aircon.
It would be just as ‘best’ if they had far fewer people on the plane and recycled the air a lot less. Luckily it doesn’t matter as catching covid is no big deal, its just another cold you catch in life until one of them give you pneumonia and kills you.
71
It would be better if people were screened before they boarded the plane. I was in China when there was an outbreak of a nasty flu, bird flu or swine flu. Everyone was temperature scanned and you needed a special document to board. I am distressed by people sitting nearby who are obviously sick and spreading it and unmasked.
210
This my health is your responsibility attitude is a new thing to me, first seen with the mad COVID measures. Where does it end? Once you have us all probed and masked and you find diseases still get past, will we be lining up for x-rays so you can inspect our lungs for tuberculous lesions? Maybe we need psychological profiles too, just in case someone’s on the verge of going postal.
Your sense of safety is *your* responsibility, not mine. Feel free to have all your shots, or dose up on vitamin D or zinc or whatever, and triple-mask if you like. If you’re worried enough, you can even charter a plane all to yourself. Staying home might be a cheaper option.
111
There are no data on masks having any preventative effects and plenty on their lack thereof.
Surgical masks are designed to prevent droplet contamination of surgical wounds by surgeons exhaling the bacterial zoo that lives in their naso-pharynx.
80
Fear and ignorance. Media brainwashing.
The usual…
Anything that can escape a level 4 biolab won’t be stopped by granny’s hand knitted mask. 😆
110
‘What’s with that?’
Seasonal flu.
‘New South Wales health authorities are urging people to protect themselves against influenza, with the latest data indicating an early flu season is imminent.
‘Respiratory surveillance reports published by NSW Health indicate approximately 5,160 people across the state were diagnosed with influenza in April, an increase of more than 20 per cent from the same time last year.’ (ABC)

Copied from elsewhere:
And contrary to popular belief, you don’t get sucked down into quicksand. You can get out if you don’t over-exert yourself.
160
That depends on how deep it is. And if it is past knee deep you could be in big trouble. You need to get out immediately, before the sand finishes settling. Once it has settled it can lock you in at less than knee deep.
My experience is only with quicksand in or near water. That Lawrence of Arabia scene is all I know about dry quicksand. We used to get a bit after floods in our river.
One time we had a flood which took our the boundary crossing and two steers got into the neighbour’s. I had to get a horse to get them back. We had two horses. Duke and Paddy. Duke was fast, smooth and stylish, but a bit of a bolter, and terrified of quicksand. Twice he had dumped me in the river after stepping into just a foot or so of quicksand. So I rode old Paddy. Paddy was a bit rough, but would do anything for anybody over the age of 5.
So we had to go down the south bank of the river in one place, then about 200m down the bed of the river to be able to get up the north bank. We were plodding along the river bed in shallow quicksand then flop! Down went Paddy to belly deep in the quicksand. He didn’t move.
I kicked him in the ribs. He didn’t move.
I got off. He didn’t move.
I took the saddle off. He didn’t move.
I took the bridle off. Paddy scrambled out of the quicksand and stayed just out of reach all the way home.
Paddy was almost human!
70
If you ever have to go into quicksand, say to help somebody stuck, stay on top. Get horizontal.
You can stir it with a stick or something and make it settle, after which it may carry your weight OK. But you can be walking on what seems solid enough sand, and the next step may be just like stepping into a hole.
10
There’s a creek near my retreat that looks harmless enough but I found out the hard way years ago it wasn’t.
Quicksand but thankfully not fatally deep, just around knee depth.
The escape method, the one I used, was to fall backwards outstretching my arms to maximise surface area, point my feet down to minimise resistance and slowly pull one leg up out of the sand, then the other. Without knowing that technique I’d have been stuck there until someone came along, which could have been many hours.
70
Thankfully never been in quicksand , but the positive is that it has a density 60% greater than water.
I can float in water: the difficult part would be swimming in quicksand.
30
How many times did Tarzan pull someone out of quicksand?

Quicksand isn’t all that common, but don’t go falling into a grain silo.
80

I commented on someone who wrote that anyone disagreeing with man made CO2 driven Global Warming was funded by the fossil fuel industry.
My question is why would the fossil fuel industry, coal, oil and gas, fund anyone? Their sales are at record levels. The Australian government just made a $9Bn profit unexpectedly from record sales. Fossil fuel sales world wide are at record levels and CO2 output as well.
COP28 was in Dubai and COP29 in Qatar, the centres of oil sales. And 130,000 people flew into Dubai to discuss the industry, often in private jets. These people were not there to discuss shutting down the oil industry.
And China has come from nowhere to half the world’s CO2 and paint themselves as the Greenest country in the world as well as being the biggest manufacture of windmills and solar panels all made with coal, oil and gas.
So again, why would anyone fund a skeptic? The energy industry has never been bigger. Their only enemy is nuclear which insanely is attractive because it has no (toxic) emissions! The disconnect between science and reality has never been greater.
280
In fact if the oil industry was to fund anyone, it would be Greta Thunberg and her friends. That way you can pose as caring people doing your best and on the right side of history and morality and trying to wean society from the terrible fossil fuel to which they are understandably and tragically addicted. And laughing all the way to the bank, which is a thing you do, apparently.
140
I wish Greta and her drones understood some basic chemistry and materials science and realised where nearly everything they use, eat or touch is somehow connected to oil, gas or coal. Without such products they were would be naked, starving and freezing in the dark. But that’s not the plan for them, only their plan for the Proles.
240
That’s why they are so useful. Lemmings leading other lemmings. Ignorance is bliss for some. Why trouble them with facts or education? From the river to the sea? What river? What sea? What does it mean? No one cares. Solidarity! Tomorrow belongs to me!
140
A simple exercise would be to tell them how semiconductors are made and then ask the activist to eschew every semiconductor in order to save the planet. Hypocrisy has become the highest virtue.

In Australia you would pump the LNG into tankers, ship it to Singapore and sell it back to Australians at a huge markup less a discount. Jolly good fun selling people their own stuff at a profit.
The Australian government did this forever when Australia had all its own petrol until very recently and our caring government used oil parity pricing at Singapore prices and trousered the difference. For our own good, of course.
And when our prices went through the roof in the 1970s, people were so angry with OPEC who were to blame. Smoke and mirrors. Just like our current government ripping into electricity prices with hidden carbon credits and invisible cashable green credits to windmill owners and then sending people $300 to help with their electricity bills.
You can fool some of the people all of the time. And the press never notice. Amazingly some of the politicians have no idea how much our electricity and gas prices are inflated by their own laws.
260
Like most of Australia’s energy disasters, world parity oil pricing came from the pretend conservative Liberal faction of the Uniparty, see link below.
-Liberals banned nuclear power TWICE.
-Allowed windmills to connect to grid.
-Signed Paris Accord.
-Support the ban on fracking in Victoria.
-Initiated Snowy Hydro 2.
-Sold much of our gas supply to the Chicomms at world’s cheapest prices on a bizarre 30 year contract with no provision for inflation or market price.
-Continue to support the anthropogenic global warming fraud to this day, that’s the only reason Dutton pretends to support nuclear power, knowing that the practical reality is that no power station will ever be built. And even if it was, how would pricing work? It wouldn’t be allowed to undercut expensive wind and solar.
I’m sure there are many other disasters I haven’t mentioned as well.
Labor are no doubt extremely bad, but Liberals only very slightly less so. There is no discernable significant difference.

Their ABC’s (Australia) war against the 20th and 21st century continues.
A couple of days ago I heard them talking about how “nanoplastics” supposedly cause cancer. No mention about how their comrades in China and in Asian countries are responsible for a vast majority of ocean-borne plastics, not Western countries who appropriately dispose of rubbish.
I think this is a rebranding of “microplastics”. They have to keep changing the marketing terms to maintain the terror.
I also heard some drone on ABC on the Philip Adams show talking about how Donald Trump supposedly said he wanted to establish a dictatorship.
It’s just endless lies. I don’t normally listen to Their ABC, these are just random times I’ve heard it playing in the background.
180
Micro plastics and nano plastics are well defined and have been for some time.
Why would a discussion about the medical implications of internalised plastics have to spend time discussing plastic usage in Asia?

But in some other countries, activists use recycling (regardless of whether or not there is an environmental benefit in that particular instance) as another in a long list of ways in which laborious and costly requirements can be forced on the community as ‘punishment’ for the perceived evils of consumerism. And it is not unheard of for such ‘recycled’ waste to be shipped around the world and eventually end up in the hands of fraudsters who simply dump the waste into rivers, from where it makes its way to the oceans.
90
Austria, Belgium, Finland, Germany, Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden and I believe Japan also use high temperature incinerators to dispose of their rubbish. When looking at pictures of the Little Mermaid in Copenhagen, the huge plant in the background is their incinerator. Worth reading “Save the oceans, stop recycling plastics” by Mikko Paunio, who makes a very good case for burning everything, including treated sewage, with the resulting small amount of non-toxic ash that can safely be consigned to landfill. The only reason the concept can be opposed is that it generates CO2.
60
Over 50 yrs ago, when i lived in the UK, there were dedicated rubbish incinerators there also
But i guess the green movement has shut them down now

I am sitting here having my breakfast eggs and was thinking that in keeping with the Left’s policies of destroying everything that is good, nutritious, inexpensive and pleasurable, I fully expect them to increase their war against eggs. This Green Hydrogen is never going to work.
To obtain the Hydrogen, it takes more energy to release the Hydrogen than the Hydrogen can provide powering machines. That is economic/accounting madness. However, the Profits of Doom/Elites – people like Twiglet, will get loads and loads of Taxpayer/Borrowed money.
And the cost of the ‘Electrickery’ here in OZ has led to Twiglet moving operations to Arizona, USA, where the electricity is cheaper. Still won’t work though. He will come back here to use that Feral Budget 2024 money of course

” the creeping normalisation of views branding Australia and its allies as imperialists, using whataboutism to deflect moral arguments against tyrants, and undermining confidence in our core institutions and values. Previously limited to academic cul-de-sacs and dark online spaces, the view that the West is to blame for the majority of global ills, that brutal dictators are misunderstood, and that mainstream media is culpable in pacifying the public is now increasingly common.
Truth upsetting the paid shills in the SMH, although he is not above criticising the people publishing him-
“a Sydney Morning Herald interview with Oliver Stone uncritically allowed him to falsely claim that the US had staged a coup in Ukraine in 2014; that the Ukrainian government had murdered thousands of ethnic Russian separatists; and that allegations of Russian war crimes were being spearheaded by elites in Washington DC.”
I’m surprised this site didn’t get a headline…
” so-called “world freedom” rallies across Australia. These have amplified the types of nativist, anti-Western and anti-authority themes strongly correlated to Russian messaging. They include the “no” campaign in the Voice referendum, disinformation about AUKUS and Australia’s alliance with the US, and the anti-vaccination movement.”
…and a quick link blaming Russia for the bioweapons labs America had in Ukraine-
“But like biological warfare researchers, Russia’s info-warriors know that the narratives they seek to promote work best when the target does the spreading for you.”
“Matthew Sussex is Visiting Fellow at the Strategic & Defence Studies Centre at Australian National University.”

Just a General Comment:
Having a large and wealthy middle class is vital. It produces a large and wealthy internal economy. The USA built itself up with the middle class – it meant that it could take a chance on many projects including tech projects and do them without making a loss – the market was large enough to support them. It then used that strength to become a world power. When it exported those jobs – that economy – to China – with Globalisation it got itself into its current situation where it can’t get out of a massive economic decline – it’s got no underlying human capital and wealth.
China is in a similar but different situation. It built itself up massively, with massive Western help, but it did not build up its middle class massively. Its economy is now crashing massively and its got nothing to fall back on – no large internal economy. The largest and most significant factor in this is the roll that the CCP – Communism – has played in destroying the economy and the culture. One of the large factors is their paranoia – they would be very afraid of having a strong middle class – that’s why they are trying to take the country back to the dark old days.
51
Xi is in a bubble where he dictates on economic matters, doesn’t have a clue.
China’s middle class was growing rapidly, but is now radically shrinking and its all his handiwork.
He is visiting Putin to discuss trade and war, Xi is terrified that the West will apply sanctions on China for complicity.
33
Isn’t the middle class exactly the Trump base?
The Western elite call it ‘populism’.
And marshalling their considerable forces against it.
Maybe even a Pandemic.

Peru officially classifies trans people as ‘mentally ill’
The Peruvian government has officially categorised trans and intersex people as “mentally ill”.
The health ministry said the decree was the only way Peru’s public health services could “guarantee full coverage of medical attention for mental health”.
The move has prompted a fierce backlash in a society where gender and LGBT rights have been under sustained assault in recent years and where there are high levels of homophobic, transphobic and gender violence.
In one recent move, lawmakers banned references to gender equality from school textbooks. That has had a devastating effect on classes intended to prevent domestic assault and femicides.

Talon International Inc., an apparel fastener and trim manufacturer in Woodland Hills, claims to have built the original zipper in 1893. So when the company was invited to design an art installation for the opening gala at LA Fashion Week, Chief Executive Larry Dyne wanted to create a piece that paid homage to Talon’s history while leaving a lasting impression on the fashion-conscious crowd.
After four weeks of painstaking work, the company invited professional inspection service Bureau Veritas to measure the final product. At 3.1 miles, Talon’s zipper had broken the existing world record by more than a mile. “Once we overcame the technical challenges, it was just a matter of getting it done slowly,” Dyne said. The patience paid off on March 16, when Dyne and other Talon executives unzipped history before a crowd of celebrities and fashionistas at the W Hotel in Hollywood.

Belgium launches national digital identity wallet
Belgium has become one of the first countries to launch a digital identity wallet after the publication of the European Union’s eIDAS 2.0, the regulation setting standards for national electronic identification systems.
The digital identity, named MyGov.be, went live on Tuesday with the Belgium Federal Government promising that the digital identity will provide a smoother experience with administrative work.
MyGov.be is optional to use, raising questions on whether the government will achieve significant uptake. According to a 2023 survey by Deloitte, 71 percent of Belgians do not want a digital ID on their phone. Another 79 percent say do not want a mobile driver’s license (mDL) while half refuse to fully digitize their IDs.
The national digital wallet was envisioned as an alternative to the popular itsme app, a digital identity app owned by a consortium of local telecom companies and banks that has 3.5 million registered users in Belgium. Residents can register for MyGov.be using an identity card, the eID system, or itsme.

I hate the way the State and their big players force ownership of something onto us by making it compulsory to use. This stupid label of ‘my’ is as cringe-worthy as everyone copying Apple’s ‘i’. Mygov is not something I would ever want, and I certainly would never consider any Govt ‘mine’. The same with Telstra, I definitely don’t want ‘myTelstra’ anything, but there seems to be no choice.
Part of the lexicon from 1984 on how to make it impossible to think treasonous thoughts..

“From the River to the Sea” and then a march on Rome.

ISIS had (has?) a magazine named “Rumiyah,” apparently Arabic for “Rome.”
The name Rumiyah (Rome) was a reference to a hadith in which Muhammed said that Muslims would conquer both Constantinople and Rome in that order.
Each issue opens with a quote attributed to Abu Hamza al-Muhajir: “O muwahhidin, rejoice, for by Allah, we will not rest from our jihad except beneath the olive trees of Rumiyah (Rome).
The first Arab raid against Rome took place in 846. Muslim raiders plundered the outskirts of the city of Rome, sacking the basilicas of Old St Peter’s and St Paul’s-Outside-the-Walls, but were prevented from entering the city itself by the Aurelian Walls.

Well that’s nice . The experiment had a control group, as well as the group who declined the “vaccine”.
Should be a clear cut result on lethality then.

Transparent bamboo: A fireproof and waterproof alternative to glass
Glass might soon have some competition from an unlikely rival – bamboo. Scientists in China have turned regular old bamboo into a transparent material that’s also resistant to fire and water, and suppresses smoke.
Silica glass, made from sand, is still the go-to building material when you need something transparent but strong, like windows. But it’s not particularly sustainable, and can be heavy and brittle.
The bamboo is transparent, with a light transmittance of 71.6%, flame retardant, water-repellent, and blocked smoke and carbon monoxide. Mechanically, it boasts a bending modulus of 7.6 GPa and a tensile modulus of 6.7 GPa.
Not only could this transparent bamboo be used as a building material, but when used as a substrate for perovskite solar cells, it acted like a light management layer. That boosted the cells’ power conversion efficiency by 15.29%.

Sony’s new super-microsurgery robot stitches up a corn kernel
Sony has shown off its new surgical robot doing some super-precise work sewing up a tiny slit in a corn kernel. It’s the first machine of its kind that auto-switches between its different tools, and has successfully been tested in animal surgery.
It’s designed to help in the field of super-microsurgery, a highly specialized field in which surgeons operate on extremely small blood vessels and nerves, with diameters well under 1 mm (0.04 in).
In essence, this can completely remove the prerequisite that super-microsurgeons need to be freaks of nature, physically gifted humans with extraordinary control over fine hand and finger co-ordination. A good surgical robot would allow a much wider range of people to do this infinitesimally tiny work using bigger motions and far more wobbly hands.

…and the one from The Empire- Via Mr Blinken.
“Elections will take place in Ukraine when all Ukrainians can vote, all of them. So long as Russia holds territories, there will not be an election, even if there is a long term ceasefire or peace.”
Sounds like they’ve invested too much in their lapdog, who runs out of legitimacy this month, and while he has banned elections he is no longer President Zelensky after that.
Well, Putin had elections & won, so who’s the dictator these days?

…and the BBC’s latest series of Doctor Who has got the lowest viewing figures in the show’s history (and that goes back to 1963)…
Select the most likely cause:
a) Global boiling
b) The Daleks rigged the results
c) The gay woke black Doctor
Can anyone guess and help the BBC understand? 😆

ZH just picked the story up:
Long considered a family show, parents are turning away from Doctor Who because they don’t want their children constantly exposed to gender propaganda. Not surprisingly, the show’s audience numbers have imploded by roughly 50% compared to the previous two seasons. The mainstream entertainment media blamed “warm weather” in the UK for the ratings disaster, but numerous representatives from the production openly attacked fans for their opposition to its woke direction and told them not to watch.
As Ncuti Gatwa told Variety when discussing fan criticism:
“Don’t watch. Turn off the TV. Go and touch grass, please, for God’s sake…As the world darkens – and I do think the world is darkening around queer rights – there is a joy and a celebration, and there’s a community…”
It would seem the audience took Gatwa’s advice to heart. They aren’t watching and his show is now facing an embarrassing collapse into obscurity.

“The Woke Gobbledygook That Passes for Erudition in Medical Journals”
“Our most august medical journals are in danger of becoming more woke ideological-advocacy publications than disseminators of learned scientific studies. This is particularly true of the New England Journal of Medicine, which regularly publishes progressive gibberish pushing “equity” that is often nearly impossible to understand.”

What a lot of solar activity. After learning here of aurora, i was certain to be watching saturday night, 11th May…after confirming the eight or so solar CME’s (Coronal Mass Ejections) were trully back to back and in the process of forming a ‘cannibal CME’.
The way i understand it is that the cannibal CME is formed when the 2 or more, this time eight CME’s, eat each other as it were, and go on to form a more powerful consolidated storm front in terms of aurora intensity. Something like that.
Anyway, spent most of saturday messaging family, friends and so on to give them a heads up. Fortunately the ‘heads up’ process was already well underway here with Jo’s observations friday 10th…by sunday it seemed everyone was posting photo’s everywhere…what a treat. Never imagined i my lifetime would see aurora in Moe Gippsland Victoria. Lucky Tasmanians.
I guess i was caught off guard even though i regularly daily check http://www.spaceweather.com
Here is another solar update from a youtuber i have been following for the past decade.

Another 2 or 3 X class flares unleashed in the last 36 hours. Depending on whether they are aimed at Earth, and how fast they are going they may arrive anything from 15 hours to 4 or 5 days after release…
Best sites to watch I think are Glendale App, and spaceweatherlive discussion forums. Sadly we don’t get a lot of warning that the charged particles are about to arrive, sometime 30 -90 minutes after the first wave hits the Discover Satelite.
20
Yes the time of arrival to the earth can vary considerably. An incredible amount of activity at present, and quite intense considering how quiet and spotless the sun can be during the 11 year cycle.
The new flares you mention, particularly the X flare is the biggest thus far produced from the sunspot region assigned the name AR3664. Almost an X9 category.
https://spaceweather.com/archive.php?view=1&day=16&month=05&year=2024 says …

Please give me warning if you know one is arriving here…
BTW people can sign up (as I did years ago ) to an aurora notification service which is connected to our BOM. They send out emails which warn that auroras may happen. Until last weekend they only ever said “potentially visible at high Latitudes after dark”. But there was one on Friday or Sat which said even possibly visible at low latitudes…
10
The huge system (3664?) released one of the biggest X class flares just as it disappeared past the solar horizon. It will need a couple of weeks as it rotates on the far side of the sun before it appears again on the “sunrise” edge. But it could give us real trouble a few weeks from now. Or it might have dissipated…

Boeing launch delayed yet again! Calling Mr Musk…
“Following years of delays, major budget overruns, and considerable technical issues, the spacecraft’s first crewed test mission still hasn’t launched. And now, the launch had to be delayed yet again after teams found a small helium leak in the spacecraft’s service module, CNN reports — which means its latest expected launch date of May 17 will be pushed back yet again.
“The teams now are targeting a launch date of no earlier than 4:43 pm EDT on Tuesday, May 21, to complete additional testing,” Boeing wrote in a statement.”

“Most of us view it as tyrannical or indefensible when a government seizes someone’s assets without arresting them or even charging them with a crime. But thanks to a law that went into effect in April, that’s the new reality facing cryptocurrency owners in the United Kingdom.
In simple terms, the change means that the authorities can seize crypto from those suspected of criminal activity. The authorities will also have the power to seize physical items related to crypto investigations, such as flash drives and written passwords, and to “destroy” a crypto asset if returning it to circulation is not considered to be conducive to the public good.”

According to the Russians here, and so some Ukie soldiers complaining over social media, the fortifications North of Kharkiv were just not there. They arrived as reinforcements with just foxholes in the tree lines.
The millions of dollars for building them had been diverted by corrupt officials, with 10% for ‘The Big Guy’ of course!
“Bohuslavets said the Ukrainian Kharkiv Regional Military Administration (Kharkiv OVA) paid out funds to fictitious companies during the construction and fortification of the Kharkiv region. BBC reports that a regional Ukrainian commander in Kharkiv has said that the first line of defense was missing in a massive “betrayal” in the northern region of the country. Denys Yaroslavskyi, a commander in the region in charge of the Ukrainian Special Reconnaissance Unit, told the outlet, “There was no first line of defence. We saw it. The Russians just walked in. They just walked in, without any mined fields.”
