The headline says it all
https://slaynews.com/news/wef-demands-limits-car-ownership-general-public/
171
Will the ‘general public’ social rating appear on Australia’s new digital ID?
Perhaps a post graduate diploma will allow a person to become part of the ‘specific public’.
Although I’m guessing for ordinary people, ‘general public’ would be applied only to those not already specified by DEI.
180
Gosh, all these “far right tin foil hat wearer conspiracy theories” that are all turning out to be true now.
450
The article says:
That’s code for “it doesn’t apply to Elites”.
If it were not for the double standards of the Left they would have no standards whatsoever.
400
Let’s hear it for limits on private jet ownership for elites.
140
There are already limits. All they want to do is move the boundaries further than we want to.
The jets are a different market.
00
..and the next step is post-Uber. This is their final solution.
“The WEF continued by laying out a plan where car ownership is banned and people must “request access” to a government-owned vehicle.”
Thought-crime too… Having made you as sick as possible, they will bribe you with better healthcare for control.
“Most people will be willing to give up their privacy in exchange for much better healthcare, based on 24-hour monitoring of what’s happening inside their bodies.”
“Very soon, people will walk around with biometric sensors—on, or even inside their bodies—and will allow Google, or Facebook, or the Chinese government, or whoever, to constantly monitor what’s happening inside [their] body.”
Harari continues by explaining that the technology could be used by dictatorship to root out those with private ill feelings or “bad emotion[s]” toward the government.”
I swear slaynews is making this up! WEF couldn’t be such cardboard cutout villains.
150
Now that we know that digital cash is needed to fight climate change I am sure we can all get on board.

Anger at over tourism is becoming quite a big thing in Europe at the moment
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13417601/Map-reveals-anti-tourism-protests-rules-looking-holidaymakers-spreading-Europe-favourite-holiday-hotspot-affected.html
Venice has just imposed a tax on Day visitors. Tourism generally seems to have surged since the pandemi* Everywhere is so crowded. I don’t know if Oz has particular hot spots?
All made worse by hundreds of thousands extra people migrating putting pressure on roads and infrastructure
120
It is generally cheaper to holiday overseas for those living downunder given the high cost of living under a Communist Goverment.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13432231/Queensland-magnetic-island-tourism-deserted.html
220
That is a huge decline in numbers visiting magnetic island. Perhaps people think its no longer worth paying out money to go somewhere that has relatively few things to keep tourists interested
110
Cold beer, palm trees, beautiful walks, reef right to the white sand beaches. Could be the reality of the slide into a socialist utopia is beginning to bight into disposable income.
130
all things you can get almost anywhere in warmer climates , maybe the reef is a point of difference but do the bulk of people care if its there or not?
I know a couple of people that holiday in Vietnam or Thailand purely on a bang for buck basis
60
I think that is the key, Broadie. We have been going to Port Douglas almost every year for about 30 years. Usually at this time of the year it is bustling, but not packed. This year the cyclone at Christmas just about brought things to a halt for about five weeks, but it has not recovered. The excellent apartment block where we stay has been practically empty since and when we were up there last week only seven out of twenty seven apartments were occupied. In the late afternoon the streets were practically empty and the shop owners were standing in the shop doors looking dejected. Restaurants, too, did not need bookings.
There is no doubt that disposable income in the usual holiday cohort has decreased to the point that holidays are out.
90
Peter.
Port Douglas has seen this before. The same thing happened in the late 1800’s. Come to think of it history repeated itself in an ant’s nest in the back yard (twice?) last week.
I am beginning to believe this is evolutionary and not revolutionary.
You read history and you learn how Palm Island was a tourist resort before the war, a Catalina base during the war and then to receive the people from the mission in Mission Beach after a cyclone destroyed the accommodation there.
The point is that Magnetic Island is better off as a slow tourist trap than a welfare trap like the Palm Islanders are having to suffer at each others hands.
20
They want to restrict legitimate tourism which brings money but they don’t want to restrict open border illegal immigration bringing to Europe some of the world’s most aggressive, uneducated, unsophisticated, anti-women, anti-Western and violent people?
430
“Anger at over tourism is becoming quite a big thing in Europe at the moment.”
Conspiracy Theorists might imagine a contradiction here.
But if one follows Science, it makes perfect sense.
Tourists cause Climate Change.
Migrants are victims of Climate Change.
Easy peasy.
210
Who done it?
The Israelis?
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13435325/Iranian-president-Ebrahim-Raisi-involved-helicopter-hard-landing-incident.html
100
No, I suspect the extreme bad weather, the mountains, the fog and the bravado of the crew who didn’t want to admit it wasn’t safe to fly.
210
CLIMATE CHANGE CAUSED IT!! Or maybe it was that Trump fella again! He is rightly fond of knocking off a few over zealous mullah & military nut jobs from time to time!
90
Light planes are bad. Helicopters are far worse. Sometimes the only solution but they don’t glide very well. And this is a country which shot down a Ukranian civilian jet! What is safe in their airspace? The reports somehow also forget his record as the appalling ‘butcher of Tehran’. Iran is still an occupied country suffering an Arabic military and theocratic extremist and totally oppressive government. Now everyone is supposed to pray for him? It’s like praying for Pol Pot.
290
They do.
And as a mark of respect for Pol Pot the Left have rebranded his Year Zero to Net Zero and continued what he started.
The objective is the same:
170
He learned his stuff at the Sorbonne in Paris. Especially the wacky concept that cities were the enemy of the people. So he destroyed them and anyone with an education. Historically the greatest killer of his own people in history. And a post modernist.
90
CNN has reported that were also Chinese state officials on board the helicopter as well with the Iranians during some type of top secret foreign visit…..CNN reported the names of the Chinese officials identified thus far are Sum Ting Wong, Wi Tu Lo, and Bang Ding Ow. Chinese state news has announced a period of mourning for those involved and Chinese flags are flying at half mast.
111
I thought their minister for disasters, Ho Lee Phuk, was also reported on board ?
120
Helicopters glide, rather steeply but they glide. You just have to nail the flare on landing. Not the easiest thing to do at night, in cloud, into a forest. I realize it was just a short hop but it is an odd choice of transport for a State leader in those conditions , I guess they thought normal exec jet transit might be an exposure.
40
Way back in BC we had Mirages. I heard this description in discussion when we lost one when te fire went out –
“Those things have te glide angle of a brick dunny with the door open”.
And, IIRC, helicopters are similar
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autorotation
30
Couldn’t happen to a nicer bloke.
160
The Oz did not allow comments on their article on the crash. Probably knew this would be a constant comment.
50
Yeah, nothing better than celebrating the death of a foreign leader. Us Westerners are really showing those backwards, donkey herders what Christian values are all about.
66
How do random comments of westerners represent Christianity? Dont really see what religion has to do with it.
20
Can we give medals to hillsides and fog for services to humanity?

If Raisi Is Dead: Implications for the Islamic Republic of Iran
by Shay Khatiri
Middle East Forum Observer – May 19, 2024
How Would Presidential Succession Occur?
Raisi’s demise, if confirmed, would not be the first death of a sitting Iranian president, In 1981, the Mojahedin-e Khalq of Iran assassinated President Mohammad-Ali Rajai. The Islamic Republic’s constitution simply states that when a president dies, a new president “would be chosen.” In 1981, authorities called a new election but, in 1989, an amended constitution gave the Supreme Leader, currently Ali Khamenei, further power to decide. Under the current constitution, there is no mandate for a new election.
If the president is dead or unable to perform his duties for longer than two months, the first vice president, the speaker of the parliament, and the chief justice, with the consent of the Supreme Leader, form a council to choose the succession mechanism.
In effect, this means Khamenei will decide. The Supreme Leader directly appoints the chief justice without parliamentary consent.
Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Eje’i, the current chief justice, is a loyal foot soldier of Khamenei. The same is true of Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf, former Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) general and former mayor of Tehran, who survived many rounds of Khamenei’s purges. The first vice president, Mohammad Mokhber, has been a low-profile figure who will certainly consent to the Supreme Leader’s will
Still, other conspiracies could emerge.
Many Iranians saw Raisi’s presidency as an audition to succeed the 85-year-old cancer-stricken Khamenei as Supreme Leader, but Khamenei’s son Mojtaba also coveted the top position. The factional rivalry has simmered just below the surface. Raisi has long been the IRGC’s darling, but many in the clergy favor Mojtaba. This is why the powerful Qom seminary hired Mojtaba, who lacks scholarly credentials, to be a lecturer. By embracing Khamenei’s son, the seminary sought to signal its support for Raisi’s rival.

Australia’s Communist Goverment gives $ Billions to Iron Ore Billionaire to make “green” Iron/steel

The next “Climate Change” scam after EVs have proven to be a great failure.

All these billions of subsidies being harvested for “green” hydrogen and yet no idea how its going to be used.
In the form of liquid hydrogen or ammonia it is exceptionally dangerous as a transport fuel.
Sadly, 99% of our politicians failed primary school (US=grade school) science and other subjects.
The only purpose of “green” hydrogen is to harvest subsidies for billionaires.

40
I think you are wrong there David,..
.. there are many ideas on how to use green hydrogen, .(.and indeed many current important uses for hydrogen ),..but what there is no idea of is how to make “Green hydrogen” practically and economically.
However, many of those ideas of uses for green hydrogen,.. transport fuel, enerrgy storage, ammonia, domestic fuel, steel production, etc etc…..are not yet developed or economically viable.

I cannot believe, although I must, that so many intelligent people are so seriously deluded into thinking that CO2 needs to be virtually eliminated. The wasted resources to achieve what they intend is so destructive of the natural world yet the gas they want to limit is so beneficial. Madness. Whom the gods would destroy, they first make mad.
251
Back in the day, even school children were taught about the importance of the carbon cycle.
220
And basic biology and chemistry. We are carbon lifeforms!
As Dr. Patrick Moore, one of the founders of Greenpeace, wrote in his book, he only knew one member of Greenpeace who had any chemistry, a German. The others banned the element Chlorine. As in sea salt. Also the essential chemical in the saline which runs everything in humans. But also PVC for plastic piping. He is now of the opinion Greenpeace is a deadly enemy of mankind. Run by communists and lawyers.
Like Adam Bandt and Anthony Albanese. Give generously.

How Green is Green? Is it about the environment or just a communist post modern attack on society. Take the Greens in Scotland.
“Scottish Greens expel 13 members for declaring that ‘sex is a biological reality’”
Greens are anti humanity. Women don’t exist. What has that to do with plants and trees and photosynthesis? Voting Green or Teal displays a lack of intelligence. Adam Bandt had no interest in the planet. Green is a way to success and power and money. It’s a total confidence trick and he would be the first to admit it. But it works! Henny Penny/Climate indulgences/Hell fire. It’s just near medieval ignorance. Even tree worship and child sacrifice. Druidic.
All Green, all chlorophyll is a long change hydrocarbon and the basis of oil, coal and gas. But compassion is driving the total elimination of women from society while asking them to vote for their own non existence. And anti Semitism and the total destruction of Israel. People supporting Oct 7 as fair and just? Just like Lebanon, Syria, Iraq. Presented as racist compassion and fairness. And to drive ridiculous battery cars. You have to ask if Greta Thunberg is representative of a lot of the Green voters. A sandwich short of a picnic.

The Australian Government wants to introduce age verification laws to access “adult content”, however that is interpreted and it may even mean free-speech oriented blogs like this, on the Internet, supposedly to stop minors accessing it.
Firstly, I think this should be a job of parental responsibility and filtering software which parents can buy for children.
Secondly, I think think this is only an excuse for the true objective.
Simultaneously with this the Government has already introduced Digital ID for Australians, we have the Government trying to introduce censorship legislation (originally introduced by the fake conservative Liberal Party when they were in Government) and we have the e Safety Kommissar monitoring the Internet for any criticism of her.
I think the purpose of the proposed laws is to attach your verified digital ID against all your Internet writings so then you can be classified as a “thought criminal” requiring special treatment or a fully compliant useful idiot.
The thinking community need to be very concerned about this.
220
In what circumstances do you use a digital ID . Is it compulsory for anything?
30
Supposedly voluntary at first just like covid “vaccines” but that will rapidly become compulsory.
120
I don’t know about a mark, but I think I am noticing a beast.
50
The e Safety Kommisar seems better suited to a WEF / UN role where global control can be talked about with less embarrassment. It does rather seem to be the pinnacle they aspire to.
80
It’s truly scary that we have people like that in Australia effectively writing Government censorship policy for them.
50
Australia’s descent into totalitarianism is now increasing at an exponentially faster rate.
There is little time left to save it.
And I’m not sure a majority of people have any interest in saving what we once had.
Also consider Jordan Peterson’s comments (short):

Yes.
This is not news and has been known since 1942.

Tragically, most Australians have participated in surrendering their freedoms and won’t get what’s lost back. Nor will they get back the remaining freedoms we are systematically being relieved of.
John Adams recognised this:
Excerpt from letter from John Adams (2nd US President) to Abigail Adams, 7 July 1775
150
And yet I can not convince any of my friends, relations or acquaintances to stop using the bloody plastic and go back to cash. The rather pathetic responses given show just how easy its going to be to enforce whatever the government wants.
1/ Old people, Its so much easier than cash and I cant get robbed (Ha Ha they clearly think that they are too smart to get scammed)
2/ Young people, “you are a dinosaur, get with the times”. Cant convince them that every purchase is tracked, information on sold. My money is “MINE” how I spend it is my business.
The only success has been with my grand daughters. Now why or how I cannot explain but interstingly they both drive manual cars, can handle a 4 wheel drive with the best, know how to throw a fly at a trout, can trap a rabbit or light a fire in pouring rain. The hope of the world rests on people like these, and, oh how government must hate the fact that there a still a few “oldies” around to influence those young’uns to resist big brother.
140
If its any comfort Sambar, my little part time job exposes me to the general public (for better or worse) and cash transactions are staying at about 35% of the business. I dont see a “type” too much in cash users , they can be young/old, city/country, rich/not so rich. Probably the leaders are the tradies. I am surprised when one of them pays by card rather than peeling off a 50 or a 100.
70
I’m sure there are quite a few people locally who retain a thinking brain. I use cash quite a lot and I get the feeling that there are increasing numbers doing that.
81
Agreed, Annie. My four adult children are all wide awake and use cash wherever possible. I can also go to God knowing that they are protecting and educating my grandchildren. I have been surprised on the occasions when they have discussed the life choices of their peer group (35 – 40 y.o.) Rest assured, many, many young people have had the scales drop from their eyes, and can see exactly what, and who, is coming for them. I am impressed and encouraged by what I see here in the Yarra valley and ranges, despite Victoria (Melbourne in particular) teetering on the precipice of Communistic mind control.
By the way, I am currently in the old country visiting my family, and the sentiment is alive, despite the best efforts of the globalists.
Cheers, Gary S., proud English, Scottish and Scandinavian man from Corieltauvi country, later Anglo Saxon kingdom of Lindsey, later Danelaw.

I am currently in the East Sussex town of Battle, and yesterday I walked amongst the sheep (real ones) on the Hastings battlefield. There is nothing quite like the atmosphere and actual spine tingling experience of walking on such hallowed ground where brave men stood against aggressive overlords. Although it proved to be a failed campaign, the sentiment here is all-pervading and much celebrated almost a thousand years removed.

May is a wonderful time to be in England; have a great time!
We planned a visit to Spain and England this month but had to abandon our plans. We would have been visiting Winchester and Portsmouth if it had happened. There’s so much amazing history in England! Other favourite places are Salisbury Cathedral (including one of the copies of the Magna Carta) and Worcester Cathedral (and greeting King John whose tomb is in the Quire).

From that –
“To Sara Stricker, a plant pathologist, it was another sign of anti-grass zealotry gone awry. In spring 2023, she launched a campaign criticizing No Mow May, saying the movement was misguided and delivered little on its intended value. But, she said, people don’t typically want to digest the science behind such a thing: “They just want the quick hashtag and a little sign with a cute little icon in it that makes them feel good.”

“Grid Planning to Meet NY Climate Act Goals”
One conclusion –
“The other New York problem that I suspect is common elsewhere is that the politicians who enacted these net-zero laws were more concerned with the optics of aspirational timelines and not the feasibility of those schedules. A question about longer planning processes planning and deployment timing made the point that the NYISO resource adequacy process that identifies specific need for transmission development, the New York’s de-regulated market process to propose, bid, and choose the development, and the project planning, permitting, and construction plan development which all need to be completed before construction can begin takes a lot of time. Reading between the lines all the speakers are highly skeptical that the artificial deadlines of the Climate Act can be achieved.
One final point not addressed in the webinar but certainly affecting the viability of New York’s energy transition goal is the decarbonization of heating and transportation. That is going to require a complete rewiring of the distribution network.”

We all need to work out how we are going to engage in free speech as Australia sinks further into totalitarianism.

Kim, David, everyone who sent emails. Thank you.
I have a twitter account I have used in the past as a way to get out messages if I can’t use the site.
@JoanneNova But that was no help this time unfortunately as this hit while I was asleep. I’m working out a plan now to cover that if it happens again.
We’re not sure why the site got into trouble, but I have forwarded some of the screenshots on to help unpack it. Will report if we get a good answer. Hopefully the web manager can figure it out and also fix the android comment box issue.
I have both a Telegram and Signal account but rarely use either. (I can’t keep up with my own emails, let alone others!) It would be smart at least to have them with some contacts as a backup.

The Collapse
The USA is in a state of massive collapse – classic The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire. Everyone owes $1,000,000 government debt and pays $3,250PA interest on it. Plus massive private and business debt. USA society is massively divided and is breaking down. The middle class has been under attack for many years.
Large parts of the World are totally pssd off with the USA – hence BRICS. The USA acts like spoilt little brats. The fact that they haven’t been put over moma’s knee and been given a good walloping means that they are now spoilt big brats. Something that the big boys – the grownups – in BRICS are in the process of rectifying. How big a walloping and in what form it will be is the question.
Trump needs to do a massive build down – he needs to manage the collapse big time. That includes massively pulling back the military. And it includes massively downsizing government and making it much more efficient.
As far as the effects on us individually are concerned – We need to be part of the solution – not the problem. We need to devise strategies to handle and manage the effects for each of us individually.
Albo is definitely part of the problem. Likewise the left in general. Albo is an avid occupant of that state of mind. Their strategies – the USA – the Deep State – are all about their scrambling to personally survive irrespective of the cost both short term and long term, Albo, and the left, avidly lap that up. That’s why they raided the treasury, pile on the totalitarianism etc.
And what about Dutton? Does he have strategies to deal with it? does he even understand what’s going on? I hope so.

The 80%+ of Aussies who will sign up for a digital ID with no more than a muttering will keep voting them into power too.

Pull down Covid-era signs, scientists tell Government
Scientists and MPs have demanded that all remaining Covid warning signs are removed because they serve only to remind the public of the “futility and madness” of restrictions.
Pandemic scientists and MPs have called for a national campaign to remove the remaining posters, stickers and loudspeaker announcements from GP surgeries, train stations and supermarkets.
Prof Karol Sikora, the oncologist, and Prof Sunetra Gupta, of Oxford University, said there was no need for them to still be in use.
More than two dozen MPs and peers have backed the idea, including senior Tories Sir Iain Duncan Smith, Sir Graham Brady and Sir John Redwood.
Covid warning signs remain widespread, from adhesive stickers on train and Tube station platforms to perspex screens covering card readers on London buses. Transport for London said it had removed the “vast majority of pandemic-related signage” and was in the process of removing the rest.
At some GP and dentists’ surgeries, posters, floor markings and automated announcements remain in use advising patients to wear face coverings and queue in a socially distanced manner.
Lidl, the discount supermarket chain, also continues to broadcast announcements asking shoppers to abide by now non-existent “government guidance” to keep one another “safe”. It said human error was responsible.
In Parliament, a coronavirus-era “wash your hands for 20 seconds” sign was only this week removed from a lavatory.

A museum for them sounds a good idea so people in the future can marvel at the voodoo-style medical madness, and say “Oh, they never really did that, did they?”
Not unlike medieval torture exhibits.

We look in dismay, sadness, or surprise at draconian laws in other countries, and have no doubt heard people say “that couldn’t possibly happen in Australia”.
Oh yes it could.

For those with an interest in how warfare is conducted these days, this is a doco on how the Russians took the Avdeevka slagheap without any casualties. Last year saw the start of the heavy use of drones, and this has become a textbook operation on how to demoralise and panic your enemy every time they go to the toilet.
Its at the bottom of this week’s Simplicius roundup.

Already this operation is out of date, the use of drones and anti-drone weaponry has changed noticeably.
