He’s dangerous. During his last Australian tour he debated at the National Press Club, and a phenomenal 9% of the polled audience changed their mind in an hour. Fifty university academics (including Lewandowsky) tried to get Monckton banned from speaking at a university. Activists were so scared they intimidated a few venue operators into canceling his speeches at the last minute (but the show always went on bigger and better somewhere else).
Monckton was escorted right out of Doha after speaking the bleeding obvious from the floor, he leapt from a plane in Durban, and he convinced the prof who wanted to execute skeptics to withdraw it with an apology.
GetUp are so afraid Australians might hear more of Monckton and people like him, they panicked and ran a whole ad campaign packed with conspiracy theories at the mere hint that libertarians might like to set up a Fox news equivalent in Australia. The travesty!
It’s an election year, we’re subject to a heatwave of weather propaganda. It’s the perfect time for Christopher Monckton to make an entrance, and right now he’s on a plane on the way. Officially the tour starts in South Australia, on February 2. See the dates and booking information below.
Thanks to Chris D for the info, and for organising it all. — Jo

Is the list of the 50 academics who tried to get Monckton banned from speaking publicly available?
The article at the link given only mentions a few by name.

As the modern academic leftist would put it, “I disagree with what you say, and I will fight to the death to prevent you from saying it”.

Among the leading signatories, Curtin University’s Prof Peter Newman and some of his PhD students. Glad to know that they are so concerned about defending “academic standards”. Because that’s the same Peter Newman who a couple of months ago invited a new-age green activist to give a seminar at his department, in which we heard about the need for “an inclusive spirituality paradigm”… that “humanity must undergo a massive behavioural and consciousness change to harmonize itself with the Cosmos”… that “the Universe has a sacred psychic-spiritual reality”… that this “sacred story” must be taught as the new inclusive, multicultural, universal religion… that indigenous people are the only humans today still in touch with the sacred cosmic spirit… that we must be inspired by South American indigenous shamans and their cleansing and healing ceremonies… that we must return to a “biodynamical astronomical agriculture” in place of modern cultivation techniques… and that we should support her group’s forthcoming protests against mining, fracking, gas, oil, coal, hydro and nuclear power (all things offensive to Gaia) and in favour of social justice, environmental justice, climate justice, spiritual community with Nature, inclusiveness, multiculturalism, sorry days, reconciliation weeks, Aboriginal land rights, climate-change refugees, zero carbon emission, clean energy future, sustainability….
Yep, definitely no decline in academic standards there… Peter Newman and his students lapped it all up.

These are the people who watch Avatar, and think its a documentary.
351
Sadly I believe this to be true. They should not be permitted a vote.
82
Well, considering the extensive debunking and discrediting of the poor lord without a seats many and varied assertions, i’d not be surprised that anyone concerned with academic standards would be concerned.
daH Monkers is a good partisan advocate, skilled oral debater, and a deft showman. Problem is that some people confuse that with making a meaningful contribution to the actual issue of climate change.
To do that he needs to get stuff right more often. As well as winning some of the longer form blog/email type debates that seem to be his less sought after medium. Where he cant rattle and baffle with fast talk, quotes (and misquotes) and people actually have the time to check his sources and context he comes across as a complete dick. Still i’m sure he’ll be honing his set of meaningless sound bytes in the hope of OM attention.
Anyhow I’m sure his worshipping fanbois and goils amongst the perennially grumpy & true disbelievers in Australia will ply him (and that ego for which he must have to pay excess baggage surely??) with sufficient uncritical adulation to make his trip worthwhile. 🙂
431
Quoting potholer54 as proof??? Hilarious!
10
….. He comes across as a complete dick…
Catamon 2013….
Good to see this year is going to be as good as last year…
A Complete Dick!! Bwahahahaaa!!!!
00
Thanks, Robbo.
Some very familiar names in there.
Personally I would never have described myself, or anyone else, as an “academic” while I was still a student, as were many on that list. But perhaps the word is used slightly differently in Australia. As to what, exactly, they were studying, well….
70
Thanks Robbo. These “academics” all suffer from the same totalitarian approach. When you can’t argue the science try and censor those that disagree with you. they probably support Roxons proposed censorship laws
41
Robbo said …
Should read, “As the modern academic leftist would put it, “I disagree with what you say, and I will fight to
the deathas many other peoples deaths as is necessary, to prevent you from saying it. But if my own hide is at risk – then I will bow low and scrape, snivel and crawl on my belly in utter silence before the greater power…””Now fixed.
140
Not on your list, but here’s an interview with Clive Hamilton, Professor of Public Ethics at the Australian National University and a member of the Climate Change Authority – “principal advisory body to the federal government on climate change policy“. He describes Monckton as “demented” and “loopy” and suggests that he endorses the belief that the Victorian bushfires were the result of God’s wrath, vengeance for state abortions, and that witches have cursed the Australian parliament.
The comments are interesting.
101
Not the sort of language we expect from an advisor to Government, esp. as the Government is little better than a rabble of acadaemics sucking on the national welfare for for salaried unproductives..
60
Or
“We kill all that don’t agree with us(UNFCCC)?”
10
These people are weirdos, that’s a given, but the taint they give to science and scientific endeavour is a delimiting one; they are small people who ignore the real cosmos which can be explored, discovered and understood and seek to replace it with a wretched form of ego-driven, navel-gazing.
I note Sheryl is a professional spiritualist; it conjures up an image of the vomit ghost in Poltergist, for some reason.
10
Those 50 should all get personalised invitations to attend. So that they can rationally counter-argue.
130
The elites money controls the spin, so democracy, backed by the hidden agenda of big money and a dumbed down majority are the obstacles Monckton has to confront.
90
Absolutely Kevin. This is all an excuse for a state directed Dirigiste economy where bureaucrats and their cronies benefit. And the rest of us fund. And fund. And fund.
The dumbed down majority was achieved in part by UNESCO pushing Transformational Outcomes Based Education all over the world in the late 80s and early 90s. Not knowledge but generic skills and a social and emotional focus. Now with Australia’s Core Skills Framework and the Wellbeing focus it’s like having the education sector putting a vacuum on the eardrum to suck out the contents.
Paul Ehrlich called it Newmindedness and it is a vital component of getting both the Dirigisme and the Ecology hype of pending catastrophe to fly.
190
Yes, they all seem to fall for that appeal to novelty, the progressives.
40
How wonderful that Lord Monckton is coming back! He puts a tremendous amount of time and effort into getting the message across and does a wonderful job of it. The man’s a hero.
403
Yes and if I may add….
He wins every debate, hands down!
That’s why the warmists hate him…
I love him 🙂
60
Can we place bets on which of the usual myths he will be repeating?
http://www.skepticalscience.com/Monckton_Myths.htm
670
Lol Nonce.. you know Sks is a purely propaganda site, with ZERO scientific integrity.. yet you keep linking to it. DOH !!!
Nobody here is interested in ANYTHING SkS has to say, and you only make a TOTALLY FOOL of yourself by continuing to do so.
424
For a supposed “skeptic” AngryG55 you are sounding a liitle like a closed minded cultist or something?
Say, are you actually Chris Lilley doing a parody??
117
They threw you out of rehab early, I see. You poor thing.
Why would anyone want to read the addled ravings of the petulant low IQ teenagers that inhabit SkS. !!
A perfect match for your mentality, though. Or won’t they let you back in, and that is why you are so distraught.
51
Myths?
How about;
” All Global Warming advocates and Climate Scientists are well balanced Ethical people seeking only to save the planet”?
KK 🙂
260
That is how most of them started out, but the easily led find it hard to change their ways.
30
Is it difficult being ignorant?
80
Pick one of the Sks myths no and we’ll discuss whether it is true or not; I can’t find one thing said by LM which is refutted by Sks; but I might be missing something so pick one and we’ll discuss it in detail.
161
http://www.skepticalscience.com/Examples-Monckton-contradicting-scientific-sources.html
426
LOL – Great way to confuse them. Which side will they argue for??
328
Hey Nice One,
How about you go to one of the proposed meetings and humiliate Monckton in public with your superior knowledge.
Surely your capable – after all – he’s just some cock-eyed, nut job, conspiracy theorist, anti-science no-nothing deniar… and your a devotee of Skeptical Science.
Wouldn’t that be worth the price of admission?
180
Monckton has a history of making stuff up and sounding credible at the time.
Thankfully only idiots are convinced by some guy speaking crap instead of referring to the peer-reviewed science.
03
Hey Mattb,
How about you go to one of the proposed meetings and humiliate Monckton in public with your superior knowledge.
Wouldn’t that be worth the price of admission?
110
Pretty much every day here I try to put you guys on the right course with honest discource and I think sound assessment of the facts. The audience will be just like here so even if I “won” the debate the howling baying pack will hardly be in a mood to listen, god forbid acknowledge the great pagan god of anti AGW Monkton of Brenchley. I mean look even Cohers is trying to suggest Monckton has not been caught with his pants down time and time again. What’s in it for me?
312
Hi Mattb,
You would get to stand up for what you believe in.
40
Mattb – What facts? CAGW is a theory, not a fact. So what facts are we talking about?
50
Alright matty, you appear to be suffering from the same cognitive complaint as no; I said pick ONE and we’ll discuss it; you’re still throwing the usual Sks kitchen sink full of dirty dishes.
190
Monckton says:
Surey says: No
http://arctic.atmos.uiuc.edu/cryosphere/IMAGES/global.daily.ice.area.withtrend.jpg
214
Buzz off no;
Slight over all loss with the margins of error.
Check.
Check.
Check.
You’re an idiot.
Well matty?
102
Except cohenite, that graph has no “margin of error” on it so you made a baseless claim.
05
Nice little thing,
You are always, and I mean ALWAYS quoting others.
Don’t you have an original thought in your head?
The University of SkS sure has a lot to answer for!
Just in case there is a slim thread left to reality,
here is some advice;
break free, you can do it
Be independent.
Good Luck.
KK 🙂
31
So cohenite, you failed to show how Monckton was right? You got a 13 month average confused with “Error Margin”.
Monckton is full of crap and you swallow it, and defend it regardless of the truth. That’s pathetic behaviour.
03
Not really cohers… it is a sinmple page that demonstrates that Monckton makes things up and misrepresents scientific authors, giving audiences a false impression: Here’s one:
Monckton: “But the solar physicists, you might take Scafetta and West, say in 2008, they attribute 69% of all the recent global warming to the sun. Most solar physicists agree. The International Astronomical Union in 2004 held a symposium on it. They concluded that that was the case. They said we’re now going to get global cooling because the sun’s turned itself off for a bit.”
Minnesota 2009
THe Truth: “I can assure you there is not such a formal position endorsed by the IAU. Let alone any claim from IAU that suggests that global warming (defined as the heating trend observed on Earth during the last mid 20th century) can be explained by solar variability.”
Valentin Martinez Pillet, President of the International Astronomical Union
315
This is another good one:
MOnckton: “Arctic sea-ice extent is just fine: steady for a decade” (citing IARC-JAXA)
Minnesota 2009
Reality: “The NSIDC group tracks sea ice variations over a longer timeframe (back to 1979), and they point out that a striking feature of recent years is the relative absence of older, thicker (multiyear) sea ice. This finding provides a physical basis for the extreme summer losses of the recent years.”
Dr. John Walsh, IARC Chief Scientist
314
Ok; I’m not sure which Scafetta and West paper LM is talking about but their 2009 paper finds a 65% attribution to a composite solar effect on temperature. I can’t find their 2008 paper so we’ll give him the benefit of the doubt.
As for the symposium agreeing with this; I don’t have a copy of the 2004 symposium’s notes; did they say there was a solar turn-down; I imagine they could have because that is the case. LM has an alarming [at least to AGW advocates] tendency to read scientific papers and find that they contradict AGW and very often someone up the food-chain has to come out and restate the official position. His position on the famous Pinker paper and reduced TSI due to cloud variation is a case in point where he was basically correct despite making a slight error about cloud radiative properties; and mistaking Pinker for a man!
Anyway that is enough on LM; quid pro quo; your turn; find us a prediction by the cheif climate commissioner, professor Flannery, which has been vindicated; hell, find us anything which makes sense.
So, I don’t think that is a valid point either because, sans the symposium notes, maybe the gathering did conclude a decline in solar effect with an implicit consequence for temperatures.
64
I’ve somehow reversed my last 2 paragraphs but the point is plain.
21
I don’t think the accusation is he misrepresents Scaffetta and West.
35
ANd the point is I can almost guarentee he will repeat this IAU claim, despite the fact they’ve told him he was wrong. He could have been mistaken or misinterpreted the 1st time around, but it is pretty clear he cannot continue to make that claim.
45
Can you? We’ll see.
Flannery?
22
So, cohers lost his challenge then? What is it cohers, your saying, ok Monkers is full of it but Flannery is too! LoL!
17
You couldn’t defend Monckton so instead you try to derail the argument. Typical.
16
That is a surreal interpretation Catamon; I showd LM was consistent with Scafetta and West; the remaining issue of whether the IAU supported Scafetta and West needs to be resolved; that is different, as I explained, from a subsequent renunciation of a possible symposium finding by an AGW stooge like Pillet.
You get hold of the 2004 symposium presentations and any signed off document and we’ll check it out.
And no, I’ve already proved you’re an idiot; but go ahead pick another one of Sks’s charges against LM and we’ll have a look at it; but first tell us one sensible thing Flannery has said, bearing in mind Flannery gets paid vast amounts of money by our government while LM get’s nothing.
10
Cohers, you really did frack this bit up when you got flustered and started on Flannery. Stick to the argument you started.
Anyhow, on myths, i’m betting he runs the whole Global Warming has stopped line and probably the sea ice is fine one. daH poor Monkerboy wont be able to help himself.
00
The rules of the ‘argument’ aren’t yours Catamon; no’s example was garbage and the point about matty’s was as I explained above; you resolve it by getting the symposium notes; until then the LM view will prevail.
Matty’s other example about Arctic sea ice I didn’t bother about since no’s one dealt with a comparison between Arctic and the Antarctic. But lets look at the Arctic sea ice extent myth; everyone accepts that the satellite information began in 1979, the highest sea-ice extent in the 20thC; but it didn’t as Figure 7.20 from TAR shows.
So, just prior to 1979 the Artic sea-ice extent was less than it was last year, supposedly its lowest extent; isn’t that strange.
LM does this because he is a basically honest man; the people against him are, IMO, basically dishonest.
But keep dredging up your examples boys, from your lying sources.
20
Sorry cohers, how could i have forgotten. Everybody is a liar except the initiates of the true dis-belivers and there is no truth but that recieved from the “proper” approved skeptic sources. I’ll keep that context in mind from now on. 🙂
02
You do that Catamon.
10
Skeptical Crap is associated with Lewandowsky right?
So anyone clicking on a SKS link is potentially part of his next “study”. Tracking IP addresses, compiling lists, maybe that is what Nice One really wants.
Same with “it’s not Nova” (which Nice One is prone to linking)
I won’t increase their traffic, I won’t be a part of their data collection. Click their links at your own peril.
Tell Lewandowsky to fu*k off.
91
I forgot to add Maxi-pads’ links to “polaranimal”.
It is truly a worthless site anyway.
50
You have good reason to be paranoid. We are watching you. From behind the couch.
219
Paranoid? Now comprehension is not your strong suit but please tell me what you’ve been able to understand so far?
40
Is it true that you wear adult diapers ? I thought that you were still in nappies ?
10
You’re on the couch is my bet.
20
So if he’s wrong, you and those at SkS now have a golden opportunity to go and correct him! Good Luck.
40
Popcorn time……..
You watch as the CAGW collatorators and sympathisers do all they can to stop anyone hearing him.
Watch all the ad homs come out, which Lord Monckton just laughs at.
He scares the climate crap out of them! Hilarious 🙂
181
If you rely on Monckton for your AGW/CC science, you only exemplify the fallacy and desperation of your arguments!
442
Sillyfilly,
A true or false prophet is judged by the outcome of their predictions.
The Jan 1970 Popular Mechanics had this article–
171
You rely on John Cook the cartoonist. What’s the difference?
100
This John Cook?
“Skeptical Science is a climate alarmist website created by a self-employed cartoonist, John Cook. It is moderated by zealots who ruthlessly censor any and all form of dissent from their alarmist position. This way they can pretend to win arguments, when in reality they have all been refuted. The abuse and censorship does not pertain to simply any dissenting commentator there but to highly credentialed and respected climate scientists as well; Dr. Pielke Sr. has unsuccessfully attempted to engage in discussions there only to be childishly taunted and censored while Dr. Michaels has been dishonestly quoted and smeared. The irony of the site’s oxymoronic name “Skeptical Science” is that the site is not skeptical of even the most extreme alarmist positions.
John Cook is now desperately trying to cover up his background that he was employed as a cartoonist for over a decade with no prior employment history in academia or climate science.”
http://www.populartechnology.net/2012/03/truth-about-skeptical-science.html
Not sure about unemployed. Thought he was employed as Chief Propagandist for climate change alarmism at the University of Queensland?
30
I don’t need to rely on Lord Monckton for science. I actually disagree with him on several issues.
What I do rely on him for is to REALLY GET UNDER THE SKIN of moronic CAGW sympathisers.. Love it !!! 🙂
190
You prefer that instead of sensible debate.
018
Monkton, eminent and educated vs cook the cartoonist … no choice … Monckton has chewed up and spat out the priests of CAGW regularly; it’s like a sport to us.
Of Doric columns and climate change
112
NO ONE will stand to him in a sensible debate.. They DARE NOT !!
61
So, in lieu of any CAGW collaborator or sympathiser stepping up to the mark..
I’ll take him annoying the climate crap out of them instead. 🙂
60
A time for everything and
Everything in its place.
Sometimes a change of pace is useful, it jolts the gullible out of the dream.
KK 🙂
20
Yeah they have. don’t you remember the time when Monckton got Pinkers gender and calculation wrong?
http://youtu.be/MPRJttcuI3s?t=39s
313
or mass debate?
20
Sensible debate?
When SkS delete any points made by site visitors that they don’t like (even with published references) and dismiss whatever they choose as a ‘gish gallop’?
That’s why I can’t be bothered with them anymore.
Sensible debate at SkS isn’t possible.
70
Listen Nice One – Just you go to the SKS website, pretending to be a warmist. Just see what happens to you.
The word “debate” is not something you or anybody else who loves that pathetic website understands.
20
As ignorant as one another obviously. Neither of you rely on science!!!
121
Aaah
Yes
The relentless ASSERTION!
KK 🙂
70
Weee, the sillies of this world, are keepers of”The Science”.
Other people cant count or measure.
KK
70
You and Nonce.. yep , ignorant as each other. Pseudo-science sympathisers.
60
Hey Sillyfilly,
How about you go to one of the proposed meetings and humiliate Monckton in public with your superior knowledge.
You could quote Skeptical Science too him and really show him up.
Surely your capable – after all the empirical evidence and reason are on the side of CAGW – arn’t they?
Wouldn’t that be worth the price of admission?
100
The truth always hurts the alarmists and they cannot debate with Monckton because he knows the truth.
160
No AngryG55. EVERYONE should hear him, and then they should go an check his sources, and then ask for a refund on their tickets when they realise what a fool he is.
Will be interesting if he comes up with new material though. If he tries the old stuff that has been oft debunked he’l look a even sillier than usual.
15
Well, of you go and pay the entrance fee at your nearest meeting.
You KNOW you want to hear him speak.
you might even be brave enough to ask some sort of moronic question !! NOT !
10
And why would i meet him on his preferred format? I’ll no doubt find his presentations and dissections of such on you tube for free.
What Monkers should do is publish his presentation and references before hand so that any one who wants to waste the time on him can check through them. Then he might start to get some credibility out side of the perennially grumpy and outraged minority.
00
deep up the fight, Monckton. Smart Meters are just one aspect of the CAGW alarmism that infuriates me:
24 Jan: Chicago Tribune: Melissa Jenco: Two meter opponents arrested in Naperville: ‘A society of violating one another’
Two vocal opponents of Naperville’s initiative to install wireless electric meters on homes were arrested after interfering with the installation process, according to city officials…
Naperville has installed smart meters on 57,000 homes and is about 99 percent through with the process. Officials have said the project will make the electric system more reliable and efficient and reduce costs.
However, the Naperville Smart Meter Awareness group has expressed concerns over whether the wireless meters will affect health, security and privacy. The group has a federal lawsuit pending against the city…
The city, which has repeatedly declared the wireless meters to be safe, offers a non-wireless alternative meter to residents with concerns. There is a $68.35 initial fee for a non-wireless meter plus a $24.75 monthly fee for manually reading it. Stahl said residents who want a non-wireless meter should not have to pay for it, and said she represents other homeowners who were not able to continue to refuse the wireless meter installation…
Krieger defended the city moving forward with installation of the meters despite the objections from some homeowners.
“The city has always had and maintains the right to access our equipment, and today we were simply exercising that right,” he said.
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/suburbs/naperville/chi-naperville-smart-meter-arrest-20130123,0,6519967.story
was reminded of this:
18 Oct 2012: New Scientist: Jim Giles: Wireless meters tell snoopers when you are not home
CRIMINALS no longer need to stake out a home or a business to monitor the inhabitants’ comings and goings. Now they can simply pick up wireless signals broadcast by the building’s utility meters.
In the US, analogue meters that measure water, gas and electricity consumption are being replaced by automated meter reading (AMR) technology. Nearly a third of the country’s meters – more than 40 million – have already been changed. The new time-saving devices broadcast readings by radio every 30 seconds for utility company employees to read as they walk or drive around with a receiver. But they are not the only ones who can tune in, says Ishtiaq Rouf at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, and his colleagues…
“I consider it an embarrassment that this kind of technology is deployed with no protection whatsoever,” says Klaus Kursawe, a security researcher at Radboud University Nijmegen in the Netherlands, who was not involved in the work. “It is well known by now how to properly and economically secure communication for such a device.”
The security flaws could be a gift to technically adept criminals. Broadcasts can be read 300 metres away and the research team was able to monitor almost 500 meters simultaneously. Because energy usage often drops to near zero when a house is empty, the readings could be used to identify which owners are at work or on holiday…
http://www.newscientist.com/article/mg21628875.300-wireless-meters-tell-snoopers-when-you-are-not-home.html
50
Harcher (NSW) has stated that smart meters will only be an option, not a mandate.
Well done sir. !
50
Just happened to read this —
30
btw does anyone know if these are Smart Meters? the local paper this week was once again “pushing” people go to this website to sign up for this offer to save on power bills, yet the website says the program finished mid-2012:
ClimateSmartHome: What was the ClimateSmart Home Service?
The program ran from 2009 until mid-2012, and was specifically designed to help Queensland households save money, energy and the environment…
•Supply and installation of a wireless power monitor which helped householders to identify where they were wasting power in the home
•Supply and installation of four stand-by power eliminators with remote control…
Products installed:
(includes)
•336,196 wireless power monitors
•70,544 stand-by power eliminators

Pat, there was a big push from councils writing in conditions to develop approvals requiring “smart meters” … not kosher, but anyway we found “smart meters” that did little other than act as data loggers.
10
I have a 3 phase smart meter installed. Whilst it helps me identify what power I use when I was able to move things to off peak without the need of a smart meter. I saved $400 on my quarterly power bill by moving some power hungry appliances to off peak. Unfortunately I live on a property. Every time I put the tap on, flush the toilets the power comes on. The bio-septic unit pump has to run 24/7. So I have limited things left I can move to off peak now.
20
Bit OT though related: The University of New South Wales bars Dutch MP Geert Wilders from speaking. UNSW student Frederik Hak wrote an open letter to the university. Quote:
Here is the entire letter. (Via blog GeenStijl).
See also “Free speech dogged by politics of difference“.
140
Unfortunately UNSW gets a LOT of government money for the CAGW fraud.
Accarnsi and NCCARF (Or something like that, might have the initials wrong)) are both housed there and have a lot of influence on university policy.
Also a few of the real looney CAGW collatorators are among the so-called scientists on staff in those 2 section.
80
Does this mean that Universities churn out educated idiots?
40
is there any doubt? …and not just NSW
60
In some departments, undoubtedly.
Got to be careful, I went there many decades ago.
Sad to see the place deteriorate so much that groups like NCCARF have so much influence. 🙁
40
Educashun has a lot to answer for.
40
Ah! more opinionated scientific nobodies about to infest our shores. Who subsidises these fools?
029
The ALP government subsidises nearly all of the MANY currently here. They infest the Government coffers.
Soon to be like rats from a sinking ship. 🙂
110
In the early 2000s the City of Maryborough Council Queensland decided to install water meters at the expense of ratepayers directly, the reason why there were no water meters was that the water supply was owned by the ratepayers who had at various times paid for barrages or small dams to store water. The Queensland Labor government decided to take control of all water supplies with no compensation to the ratepayers through their council. This was the real reason for water meters.
Our Labor socialist governments are tightening their control over all citizens and we should be very concerned. Thankfully there are people like Monckton speaking out for us.
91
The frightening part of the Maryborough water meters is that most ratepayers did not protest as their water assets were taken over.
30
I guess you’re highly qualified in science silly filly?
30
If you read Jo’s piece you would see who the hosts are.
If it was Micheal Mann , Peter Glieck or James Hansen coming would you be asking the same question ???? Of couse not !
60
Speaking of opinionated scientific nobodies, in trots the stupid horse.
Di@$heads like you are really starting to get annoying. Why do you come here with your ad homs and try to preach your rubbish? What motivates you to come to this blog where nearly all frequent contributors are skeptical of CAGW anyway?
Is it some sort of attention seeking disorder?
Do you have a God complex and trying to save the world?
Or do you just get off on causing contoversy?
Realistically you are here to post inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response. I have read this definition before here – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troll_(Internet)
You are just a troll. Nothing more, nothing less.
80
They’re pagans sent by the trolls of climate doom to ‘wear us down’. In truth they’re just light entertainment … they’d be great central characters in a book on, say, pagan cults and gaia worship.
50
Neigh filly, noone subsidises LM; which is quite different from the fools on your side of the fence who all have their snouts in one trough or another.
170
dopey donkey is actually a rabid skeptic.
It comes here to reinforce the rancid stupidity of CAGW sympathisers.. and does an extremely good job.
Well done DD, keep up the good work. !!
40
… and your post nominals to recognise such is, what ? Oh, my aplogies, you’re just parroting what you been told to say. I hope they don’t pay you based on intellectual value or you’d be real hungry. On second thought, you must be very hungry in order to write the merde that you do.
20
No subsidy required.
Monckton is responding to market demand for his services.
People volunteer to go to his talks.
A bit different from the greens police state that requires “enforcers” – or else nothing that the greens propose would ever happen.
70
O Ooo!
This one’s sure to raise the alarmist’s outrage meter through the roof!
Not the Mad Monckster!!!!
70
Where can I make a donation?
30
KK,
I don’t accept payment for my work. Being right all the time is payment enough.
30
I liked that bit.
Monkers is here to pump up our outrage meter!! And wants our money! Yay aren’t we sooooooo lucky!!
LoL!
04
Its worth the money just to see him wind up all the Weirdo pseudo scientists.
Hilarious!
KK
20
Even if he is wrong occasionally, that still beats the pertpetually, intentionally incorrect, and lying propaganda from SkS !
85% (Monckton) vs 2%(Sks) – they get their names right, gotta give them a mark for that.
30
Hi Jo, thanks for linking to the NZ leg of the tour- slight adjustment to your information- In NZ Lord Monckton’s tour runs from 1-26 April, and all details of venues, times, prices etc are at: http://www.climaterealists.org.nz
We are anticipating a wonderful tour, I encourage everyone to give it all their support.
40
wow, he is speaking to Gore!
23
Gore wouldn’t have the courage, ever !!!
Even offering to pay him would not overcome his cowardice.
60
On the south Island he is, it is in the schedule.
31
.
In Gore – not To Gore.
He speaking in.
21
.
Double FacePalm – nut case.
21
Sorry… I’ll try not to be subtle. He is also speaking to Sydney, Melbourne, Perth…
20
The period that includes the “dash to Canberra” has one non-sitting week and one week with senate only sitting.
10
In an election year this federal government does not want to be exposed to being held to account by the opposition, the Laborites want as much spin and photo time as they can arrange. There will be no [carbon dioxide tax] in a government I lead.
31
err… yes, that follows!
30
good news:
EU CO2 market fix hangs in balance after MEPs urge rejection
BRUSSELS, Jan 24 (Reuters Point Carbon) – A proposal to rescue the ailing EU carbon market hung in the balance on Thursday after a committee of European lawmakers urged the bloc’s parliament to reject efforts to rescue carbon prices, which crashed to record lows on the news…

My wish list. No Monckton tour complete without:
i) Pompous use of latin ad infinitum
ii) Fraudulant graphs
iii) Direct links to scientists explaining that Monckton is misrepresenting their work
iv) pink portcullis logos in flagrant disregard for requests of the House of Lords
v) Blinkered skeptics lapping up even his most absurd of claims
vi) Claims that any website that details science to counter Monckton is a discredited propaganda machine
vii) Abbott defending meeting Monckton
Hopefully it is nice and hot for his visit.
KinyKeith, you can make a donation to my account if you like?
324
Mattb
Why don’t you take time out from local politics and debate Monckton?
80
The trouble is he will waffle, put up graphs that look good but are rigged, but I’ll not know in advance what those graphs will be, and it would take more than a minute to look at them, look at the source data, determine where his trickery is and demonstrate as such. And even if I did he’d just keep showing the same graph and claiming it proves his case.
There is a reason that being a sideshow snake oil salesman is quite a successful career choice.
226
This is just like last time he was visiting Australia, Mattb. You guys come out with all the name calling and BS because you know he is a great communicator. He scares you all.
Let me remind you of the last visit because it relates to what you have said above. He spoke in Perth at the start. His talk was put up on the internet for everyone to see.
A debate was arranged at the Press Club in Canberra about a week later. All the Aussie climate scientists ran a mile , so they put a guy
(sorry I’ve forgotten his name)who is a warmist but climate science is not field of expertise. Because Monckton’s talk from Perth was on the internet the warmists should have had a head start and could have easily “trained” up their puppet –but they were too lazy , lacked the initiative or just too arrogant ( take your pick).
We all know the result –Chris Monckton won hands down.
110
Hmm alkl I remember is Deltoid’s Tim Lambert making him look like a fool.
115
(sorry I’ve forgotten his name)
Richard Deniss (an economist).
Monckton wiped the floor with him.
91
“Waffle, rigged graphs.”
oh. so you are a regular at SkS ! I suspected as much.
90
Hmm yes Heywood I think you are correct thanks for that. If only Monckton was a scientist then he could debate the scientists where it matters… in the literature. But you know what, I’d LOVE to debate Monckton. Not saying I’d win as look he puts on a good show and can be fairly convincing. It would be fun but. Ultimately if I lost though the science community would just say “wow Monckton out debated WHO? I’m not surprised.”
216
At least he doesn’t pretend to be a scientist…. not like somebody right here.
10
Who is that?
02
You must be deltoids’s only reader … Lambert ? joke !
This is what they call debate …
Programming note Morano vs. Nye (but Nye backs out at last minute)
Check out the vid, Brune makes a right charlie of himself !
60
Graphs Mattb? I’m sure that you are confused. Don’t you mean Al Gore’s thermometers?
20
Waffle, rigged graphs.
Should be easy to refute with the gold standard UN-IPCC/CSIRO science, MattB.
No advantage. Deuce.
.
Monkton is at the same disadvantage of refuting your un-forewarned “surprise & tricky graphs.”
No advantage there, especially with the correct UN-IPCC/CSIRO science on MattB’s side.
.
Showing “same graph?”
Your “
palpeer reviewed settled science” will be flawless. The debate is over, it is said. So advantage MattB there.
90
“Waffle, rigged graphs.
Should be easy to refute with the gold standard UN-IPCC/CSIRO science, MattB.
No advantage. Deuce.”
I have no science other than what would be in the literature or IPCC docs. Wheras I would have no idea what MoB would be using. And then “Would the audience please wait about 10 minutes while I look for the correct reference to refute what the good lord has just said?”
113
We have a rigged graph from that notnova site you are fond of over in another thread… just waiting for the end of the month so we can see just as it should be.
20
“determine where his trickery is ”
Ah, you have to go to SkS to ask them.
That is their forte.
30
Matt B,
The climate scientists won’t debate Monckton because they are cowards and bull shit artists. Monckton is immune to their bullshit an will flatten them.
I remember that debate between Monckton and the economist.
Rather than refuting Moncktons scientific points who spoke in analogy bringin up the famous “if you were sick and went to a doctor” analogy and the “smoking cause cancer” analogy and topped it all off with a good bit o precautionary principle to boot!
If the science was so clearly settled that man is warming the world your “scientists” would have no problem debating guys like Monckton irrespective of what graph he brought up.
Bunch of wimps te lot of you!
90
Sonny, your obviously impressed by the show daH Mokerboy puts on. fine, but you really need to get a handle on what’s actually meaningful in the scientific debate, and what for the consumption of the credible and the media.
Maybe when puberty is over you’l start to get it??
08
“Sonny, your obviously impressed by the show daH Mokerboy puts on”
You seriously should go to one.. you might actually LEARN something (if you were capable of such)!
And NO Nepeta cataria before entry, though.. I’ve told you before.. its not good for what’s left of your tiny little fur-brain.!!
20
“KinyKeith, you can make a donation to my account if you like?’
wouldn’t that affect your dole money ??

24 Jan: Politico: DARREN SAMUELSOHN and JONATHAN ALLEN: John Kerry: Mr. Climate
Obama’s choice of John Kerry as the nation’s top diplomat is the strongest signal to the international community — and the smart set in Washington’s political class — that the president is truly committed to striking deals designed to save the world…
“Obviously, he has enormous credibility. I think that’s going to help,” said Phil Schiliro, former Obama White House legislative director. “Combine that with the fact that the president has such a commitment to the issue, and it sends a good signal.”…

Oh goody, the AGW secret double agent is touring Oz again!
328
Yeh isn’t it awesome ?
51
The truth disturbs you? You have a problem coping with the facts? You do.
30
Interesting how many people cannot tolerate a scientific discussion. Anyone who believes in settled science should stop smoking whatever it is they are smoking
110
Wow! only one thing worse than AGW to elites it’s a visit by Monckton. Better buy some popcorn.
If Monckton played a straight bat, he would be truly devastating. Unfortunately the showmanship goes to his head.
09
I have observed that the low intellect cannot cope with high intellect.
40
It’s a good point, and I’m sure he’d be first to admit that he sometimes gets carried away with the occasion, but thousands of straight scientists and commentators don’t get noticed.
30
Quote Jonova:
❝ GetUp are so afraid Australians might hear more of Monckton and people like him, they panicked and ran a whole ad campaign packed with conspiracy theories at the mere hint that libertarians might like to set up a Fox news equivalent in Australia.
The travesty! ❞
.
The Australian GreenLaboUr government are so afraid of Ian Plimer, they run web pages at tax payer expense, (badly failing) at attempts to discredit him and his credentials with consensus bullying and appeals to authority.
.
This type of attempt at smear has been eerily attempted before:
Albert Einstein’s response to the 1931 pamphlet “100 authors against Einstein,” commissioned by the German Nazi Party as a clumsy contradiction to the Relativity Theory, said, “If I were wrong, then one would have been enough.
.
GetUp are GreenLaboUr’s “brownshirts.”
Who will be next on the GreenLaboUr “denier list” to be singled out for a yellow star?
80
Hmm so the nazi’s organised petitions against correct science? But it is skeptics who do that, no?
227
Not this skeptic, from what I read.
Then again, he is NOT the government.
It would be interesting to see if Abbott would close down these government sites & web pages against individuals who don’t “tow the climate science consensus” line.
40
NB: That would be “toe the line.“
20
Funny how Plimer used to be the darling of the ABC when he was bagging creation science.
61
The ABC doesn’t share his interest in minimg companies.
01
Jo, do you know if he is visiting Newcastle again ?
40
To visit once is careless…
412
Indeed as were your parents … who’s your daddy ?

There are no words needed!
KK 🙂 🙂
00
And what about Noosa, where it all began (for Aus. anyway) ?
10
I am really really hoping that Lord Monckton will talk about his cure for HIV as well. Such a brilliant man. And virtually royalty too! So exciting!!
96
I can only hope the thums up are from those who appreciate sarcasm.
80
Me too!
50
He doesn’t talk about his charity work ( though a cure was never claimed). Just like the political opportunism that manifested in AGW, it’ll need ongoing treatment.
10
Progress is being made … when CO2 is ignored in the models:
Latest Empirical Evidence: The Abysmal Prediction Failure Of Taxpayer Funded CO2-Based Climate Models
80
Excerpt from the Lord Monckton Foundation Charter:
“The Lord Monckton Foundation shall conduct research, publish papers, educate students and the public and take every measure that may be necessary to restore the primacy and use of reason in science and public policy worldwide, especially insofar as they may bear upon the rights of the people fairly and fully to be informed, openly and freely to debate, and secretly by ballot to decide who shall govern them, what laws they shall live by and what imposts they shall endure.”
This must be what gets up the nose of the naturally green anointed authoritarian ‘we know what’s best for everyone’ type.
This is why they hate Christopher Monckton. He preaches freedom of speech; and he practices what he preaches.
Thanks Jo, certainly brings them all out of the woodwork. Wonderful stuff and love your work.
130
OMFG. What a load of twaddle. The bit about “restore the primacy and use of reason in science…”.
This from the man who cherry picked one month of arctic sea ice extent so that he could say it was “just fine”.
This from the man who cites papers in support of his arguments, which is fantastic – except that the authors of those papers usually say something like, “Our work does not support the conclusion that Mr Monckton has drawn from it”.
Don’t get me wrong, just like Julius Sumner-Miller before him, Monckton is a great showman. But its just a show.
320
Good showman,
I bet his presentations are more factually correct that Al Gore’s Inconvenient Wank
Yet somehow I doubt you would ever criticize that “show”.
100
So you’ll be going along to see him JB ? Just for the show ? Or could you risk exposing yourself to so much truth and not be affected. I reckon your not so bad, just scared of the light.
50
Indeed, the art of public speaking is a bonus, especially when you can back your science talk up with a demonstrable science experiment.
Julius Sumner-Miller was indeed a crazy master.
The climate catastrophists, with their failed computer forecasts, have Rev. Al.
Here is a multiple choice for JB from the “Rev. Al” link above:
Q: What is that “bubblin’ in Al’s beakers”?
1. carbon
2. carbon dioxide
3. dry ice (frozen carbon dioxide)
4. water vapour
50
Hi HJ
As a scientist you’ve got me all curious now.
Just had a look at the clip.
Scarey. Just goes to show that politics has Nothing to do with science.
Yeah, we used to get that from the canvas bags used by beach vendors to hold ice cream.
I won’t give it away because we would all prefer JB or Cat-amongst or Noice or one of the other SkS professors give the answer.
KK 🙂
Is the answer water
50
“politics has Nothing to do with science.”
Point being that both Democrats and Republicans have crazy scientific groups within each.
KK
00
” “Our work does not support the conclusion that Mr Monckton has drawn from it”.”
Given the sort of mess these alarmist scientists have made in their predictions perhaps the noble Lord can understand the conclusion of their meanderings better than they can?
60
No. You don’t write a paper and get it published without really understanding exactly what you’ve done, and what it means.
011
.
JB
Isn’t Ross Garnaut also in your list of IPCC/Rudd heros for the recommendation of CO2 Tax?
40
“No. You don’t write a paper and get it published without really understanding exactly what you’ve done, and what it means.”
How good is your short term memory? Gergis and Karoly. Ring a bell?
Now there’s a brilliant peer reviewed paper that not only the authors didn’t have a clue about but apparently neither did the peer reviewers aka co-conspirators. That is until McIntyre put them on the straight and narrow, intellectually.
That’s just for starters.
80
“You don’t write a paper and get it published without really understanding exactly what you’ve done, and what it means.”
roflmao.. that one statement shows just HOW LITTLE you understand about climate science. !!
40
.
O/T but this is from ReachTel surveying Tassie seat of Bass voters.

An interesting EU political emergence: Finnish MEP questions climate change
Finnish ? Who would have thought … and doing things in the best public interest ? How unpolitician-like!
30
h/t Tallbloke
20
The Finns also don’t like the idea of bailing out the failed states in the EU, like Greece & Spain, (and later Italy, France, etc)…
30
Did you read the conclusions:
“My proposal is that we start making policy that we do not have to regret later, irrespective of the outcomes of scientific research. Such policy would include energy saving, the development of clean technology, sustainable forestation, the prevention of air pollution, as well as the fight against poverty and erosion in developing countries. We should also guarantee clean production and jobs in Europe. We ought to take all these actions even if we had no information whatsoever about climate change. And if we did have the information, these would be the best recipes to tackle the problem.”
Seems reasonable enough.
18
Seems reasonable ? To any non-thinking person perhaps. Sounds like just blatant opportunism, pandering to every trendy notion under the Sun and blow the cost because it’ll never happen anyway. It’s just aspirational.
40
What exactly do you mean “Finnish? Who would have thought…?”
Finland is not some Third World country, [snip]. Its one of the most advanced societies on this planet.
[ play nice—– Mod]
10
Who you calling a “dimwit” ? The Scandinavian countries have been at the forefront of warmism ! Fill it in from there …
10
Careful Backslider is trying to rope you in to a discussion pf panspermia (sp?) and intelligent design. Unfortunately he is too think to realise you meant that Finnish and other scandanavians are seen as bastions of the rational left wing so she is far more credible to a lefty than say, Monckton.
27
I don’t know what you mean, but it seemed well put.
30
Careful Mattb, the Finns don’t like being lumped in with the Viking-derived Scandinavians (Norwegian, Danish, Swedish, Icelandic) and instead derive, in common with the Hungarians and Estonians, from an ancient people who probably lived in the region of the Ural Mountains and migrated west. The Finns prefer Nordic to signify Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Finland grouped together.
The Finns are a hardy and pragmatic people (climatic natural selection) who are not intrinsically left wing and are not inclined to put up with BS. (Although my Finnish sister-in-law, like most of Europe, was a bit starry-eyed about Obama when he was first elected.) It’s not at all surprising that a Finnish MEP would question the prevailing EU AGW policy settings.
40
I’ll give you the semantic slack on Nordic but Finland is a Scandinavian country. My college educated son lost that same bet with me some months ago. My position being mostly supported by his professors.
True the Finns get a bit uppity when you remind them that their country was under Swedish rule for some 700 years and never mind that there is plenty of bodily fluid exchange between Swedes and Finns over a very long period of time. (cause those teenagers just love to rebel)
This all said with the understanding that I have a 1/2 Finn 1/2 Norwegian wife and a strong respect for the Finns. Me I’m 1/2 Swede so I’m stuck in the middle (so to speak).
I also agree that the Scandinavians have bought into AGW to a greater degree (pun) because they get concerned when anyone with “expertise” suggests the gulf stream will “slow down” or “stop altogether” (cue Maxine-pad).
That region wouldn’t be much fun (even with blondes, vodka and aquavit) IF the Gulf currents go away.
10
LMAO Mattb – You learned a new word this week, but you didn’t seem to learn how easily you accepted something without a shred of scientific evidence.
00
In the mean time the “price of carbon” dropped 40% in ONE DAY in the EU this week because the EU voted not to do anything to support the market. Maybe even the EU bureaucrats are starting to see something is not what they were told it was.
I hope all the idiots who got involved in the rigged casino game get burnt to sinders.
60
40% of “not much”, is “very little” 🙂
30
Exactly. Never trust percentages. Journalists and others often use them to create misleading (or at best exaggerated) impressions. Except when it’s 0.04% of nothing at all.
20
that should of course be “60%” of “not much”, is “very little”! DOH !
40
After his entrance to Durban , Australia last time and his exit from Doha I’m really looking forward to what this trip might spring.
He has the World realising (& the Met Office admitting) it has stopped warming. Who else could have done that ?
30
.
Al Gore should do a parallel tour to LM.
It would keep all the GREEN HELMETS off the streets.
Al Gores Itinerary:
1. How to set up a Climate Exchange for GHG’s (oops – sorry closed down) See CCX
2. How to lie and get media coverage: Al Gore Lies
3. How to promote lies without debating the TRUTH.
4. How the earth is located around Al Gores USA and breaths in and out Once a Year. 1st 41 seconds of video.
5. Make up as much as possible – the GREEN Helmets love it.
Fee is set for $300,000 per hour for Al Gore and Get Up, the ALP, The Conversation, and all the other tools and wankers that follow CAGW. Go salivate over Al Gore you MattyB, JB, Nice One, Sillypilly, etal.
Promised by AL himself:
31
Al Gore wrote a great book, and made an excellent movie. There was some exaggeration, which is a shame, but the book and the movie had an important message, “We are changing the climate, and we don’t know what will happen. It could be bad.” It had to be said in a way that got through to the public, and he did it.
There is a concerted attempt by the “skeptics” to shoot anyone on the AGW side who puts their head over the parapet. Hansen, Gore, Flannery etc. (And of course the pro AGW crowd do the same to Monckton, Watts etc.)
But I’ll stand by Gore, Hansen, Jones, Trenberth, Mann, Flannery etc. I have far greater faith in their honesty and integrity than I do in the likes of Monckton, Watts, Christie, Lindzen etc.
326
I must say John I’m not such a fan, but I don’t understand how one could champion Monckton and yet blast Gore for being a bit loose with the truth.
48
Like many of their followers, they started out naive and by the time they realised they were already corrupted beyond redemption. Should we blame them ?
50
John you’ve just epitomized “noble cause corruption”.
Well done!
70
John Brookes
You say, “We are changing the climate, and we don’t know what will happen. It could be bad.”
The man-made CO2 causing global warming supposition has been proved to be a deception.
As this book shows:-
“Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds” is a history of popular folly by Scottish journalist Charles Mackay, first published in 1841. The book chronicles its subjects in three parts: “National Delusions”, “Peculiar Follies”, and “Philosophical Delusions”.
The Global Warming – “We are changing the climate” madness will be added to the list of popular delusions.
Truth wins out in the end.
81
“But I’ll stand by Gore, Hansen, Jones, Trenberth, Mann, Flannery etc. I have far greater faith in their honesty and integrity than I do in the likes of Monckton, Watts, Christie, Lindzen etc.”
Interesting what one’s faith can do to one’s judgement.
Honesty and integrity?
Let’s examine the list: Present higher temperature alarmists who were once lower temperature alarmists plus radical activists who in the name of their obsessions are prepared to damage economies and hurt decent citizens plus cooking the books plus… Oh Oh I forgot what’s his name… Flim Flam…. a serial exaggerate-er.
Honesty and integrity?
Standing beside that motley crew is probably the best location for a swift exit when your faith falters.
61
As opposed to Monckton et al? You’ve got to be kidding.
Look, I’m not sure how bad AGW will be, but it doesn’t look good. What I am sure of is that the “skeptics” can’t mount a sustained and coherent attack on the science. What I am sure of is that the “skeptics” continually use spurious arguments, each one of which is the “final nail in the coffin”, and each one of which doesn’t last any time at all before it is discredited. Climate scientists stick to the same story throughout. They argue among themselves about the details, trying to understand better. “Skeptics” sing from a multitude of songbooks, and often disagree, not only with each other, but even with themselves.

“They argue among themselves about the details, trying to understand better. “Skeptics” sing from a multitude of songbooks, and often disagree, not only with each other, but even with themselves.”
Hmm you got there but sadly didn’t realise that that is precisely how in the end science moves ahead. Consensus derived from the same hymn sheet and the same bible is not generally conducive to the advancement of scientific knowledge.
You’ve got the bits and pieces JB but don’t quite seem to be able to coherently assemble it. Hang around and observe.

Llew:
Yes, science progresses by diversity of opinion, but not by deliberate ignorance of what is already known. The great modern physicists all understood and appreciated what went before them. I’ve seen no sign of that in climate “skeptics”.
02
On the contrary CAGW is on the ropes. It is factually broken in so many places that as a comprehensive scientific theory it is in serious trouble. The only thing propping it up is appeals to authority and personal attacks on critics. Science isn’t supposed to have to rely on those sorts of tactics.
00
Gore’s already taken his money and split.. Did very well out of CAGW gullible, thanks !!
Yes, he’ll continue to mouth off to keep his name in the papers.. but he’s got his funds, and… HE’S OUT OF THERE !!!
40
Whereas Monkers is still begging convince the credible among the true disbelievers to fund him. Lol!
08
How does one respond to a totally moronic, incoherent statement like that. !!
Have you got a fur-ball stuck in your brain again ?
40
Judging people isn’t the way to do this. It doesn’t matter what kind of people these are, you have to look at the merits of what they say. Even were Hansen, Jones, Trenberth, Mann Flannery etc wonderful people as you say, that doesn’t make them right. Monckton I must confess sometimes strikes me as a bit pompous, but that doesn’t make him wrong. You have to judge what is said, not the person who says it.
However I must say that I strongly disagree with your evaluation of the character of these people.
On the CAGW side we see people espousing a popular position being cheered for it. And we see these people behaving very badly – heaping abuse on their critics equating them with holocaust deniers – trying to get people sacked from their jobs – distorting the peer review process – making up false documents and attacking the reputations of anyone who disagrees with them.
On the sceptic side we see people suffering under tremendous abuse and generally remaining civil and polite despite this. Go to climate audit and read what sceptics have to put up with. Anyone who can remain civil under such extreme provocation is someone for whom I have a great deal of respect.
It is easy to espouse a popular cause. It is hard to support an unpopular cause. What takes the most character?

January to April, suggests he’s taking up residence. Or at least taking the time to savour the delights of being down under, this time. I’m sure he’s looking forward immensely to his time in Perth. I hope his appearances will be YouTubed for his Worldwide audience to follow.
20
If it’s anything like Copenhagen, Cancun, Durban, Rio or Doha, I won’t be able to get any work done. Thank God the tax filing deadline will have already passed.

.
Or maybe a Tim Flannery Tour:
The Super Duper Organism we can all exist as one – together in GAIA!!!
Itinerary – you have the chance to select your job in the SUPA DUPA GAIA:
1. Reproducers
2. Guard duties (with Green Helmet)
3. Gardening
4. Selectors & Leaders
5. Money collectors
This guy is seriously ill up top.
And don’t forget –
Which jobs do you want JB, Mattyb? Book now at UWA.
40
Matty B has already worked at the UWA for a while.
30
I volunteer for job #1, but if I find out it involves doing the photocopying for 16 hours a day I’m going to very disappointed. 😛
All jokes aside… but then how can I when the subject is Tim Flannery.
How many basic errors of logic and fact are there in his rant?
(Anything in italics is a paraphrase not a literal quote.)
“The process that formed the earth was evolutionary”
Well not in the usual sense. There was probably a lot of early primordial debris that got flung off into the Oort cloud if they weren’t in the right kind of orbit initially by chance. But when we say early asteroids were bonking we don’t mean they made appointments with the cosmic stork.
He says the process that has lead to life on the planet was evolution by natural selection which is a ruthless competitive process, BUT then he says nature is full of co-operation (like gazelles co-operate with lions??) and co-evolution (giving only the exploitive example of gut fauna) and the solution to our problems is a co-operative ant colony with resources redistributed equally to inept and overspecialised insects??
Right, so be one with nature by adopting the opposite strategy. Got it. Super green.
“The astonishing thing is we have formed a global super organism, through sharing common beliefs. We see this happening in the revolutions in North Africa that will hopefully lead to greater democracy.”
That is astonishing. Last I heard most of these regime changes led to the Muslim Brotherhood being installed into power. But wait Flamster, if we’re all going to be required to have equal resources, what is the point of democracy? Wouldn’t people just vote themselves more the of taxpayer’s purse, and demand to do things they enjoyed regardless of whether it was in The Five Year Plan? Since the Queen Bee gives all the important orders surely democracy is the very last thing you would want? Make up your hive mind! Sounds like a global Caliphate of Gaia worshipping is just what the Flamster would want.
“We will be a regulating intelligence for the planet.”
Yes, I’m sure you and your elitist paymasters would love to be regulating the whole planet intelligently. The end result is “more stability and co-ordination between the parts”. Micromanaged to the nth degree. If he’d used the word “harmonisation” in the Chinese sense it would not have been surprising.
And of course all this control over the planet supports the belief that changing the climate is within our grasp.
“This doesn’t necessarily mean the rise of a global government. … BUT HAVING SAID THAT….as we become more interdependent on one another we become less competent as individuals.”
Uhuh! More like as rights, freedoms, and their commensurate responsibilities, are all taken away from us by The Global Regulators, our competence and independence then decreases, all according to plan.
“Poverty leads to short-term thinking”.
And short-term thinking leads to poverty.
“…while great parts of our super organism are struggling for the basics.”
Yes sir, flim flam, some “parts” struggling with the basics more than others, it seems.
Thanks for the link Dave.
And now if you’ll excuse me I have to close some windows as they are letting in some stuff that is filling up our dams in unforeseen ways.

We need Monckton to help bring some reality to the debate. Obama renewed his call for action on Climate Change in his inauguration speech the other day.
I’m reminded of Obama pointing to Spain in 2009 as a shining example of a new Green economy. http://youtu.be/t3UebL-x-sw
Today Spain announced an unemployment rate of 26% with youth unemployment of 60%. Even in 2009 studies showed that for every supposed ‘green’ job created, they lost 2.2 permanent jobs and that only 1 in 10 ‘green’ jobs were permanent.
Yet we still have Labor and the Greens in Australia telling us the new ‘green economy’ is going to be so great for Australia!
80
Who better to crunch the numbers than a maths expert, Lord Monckton?is
Who better to expose the flawed date?
40
.
Fear is the CAGW idiots main tool,
Monckton actually is just fighting against this fear that the CAGW idiots use daily.
And the BIGGEST idiot of all again is, Tim Flannery at 4.10 minutes in the video.
He says:
OK – Wreck the earths climate and if that doesn’t work – lets destroy it????
Can anyone explain where Tim Flannery gets these MAD, MAD, MAD ideas from.
Is this also what you think JB, MattyB, SillyFilly, NiceOne etal?
60
Actually he’s saying that burning Australian coal will change the climate and processed Australian Uranium will be made into destructive nuclear weapons.
But I agree that he’s mad.
50
All well and good and I am sure Lord Monckton will blow Australia away – again!
However, a question to Lord M himself; when are you doing this tour here in the UK? It goes without saying it’s needed, that there’s a huge market for this information being availed to a wider audience and yes, it will be a sell-out smash.
Come on Lord M, get it on here in Blighty. Your country, Sir, needs you.
52
Before the Elections to the European talkshop perhaps.
40
John Brookes paraphrasing Al Gore’s message:
“We are changing the climate, and we don’t know what will happen. It could be bad.”
Here in lies the problem John. The arguments for CAGW are infantile!!!
“It could be bad”??? I could just as easily assert that “It could be good”!
You excuse Gore for “exaggerating” because the message is good according to you.
How far does it go John?? Would you excuse scientists for outright fraud? Would you defend
scientists who resort to equating skeptics with pedophiles?
Just how far are you prepared to take “the end justifies the means”?
What if John, you are precisely wrong about CAGW and that the means to implement climate change policy are more dangerous than the ills they seek to prevent? Will you care? What is actually driving you to take such a stance? Are you employed by a University affiliated with the policies of climate change? What is your cause about?
80
.
Tim Flannery verifies that the world is
He is using James Hansen as his source.
Where are you NiceOne? Your chief says 25 meters rise of sea level. This video was recorded in February 2007. 6 years later – everything has changed, gone backwards, new lies, the data was corrupted, more excuses.
MattyB, JB, NiceOne, Silly Filly etc
How can we go from 25 meter sea level rise to (WHAT) a few millimeters?
Lord Christopher Monckton is going to have LOTS of fun, fun, fun with you twits.
The CAGW gravy train is close to the lemming cliff.
90
I’m not really a fan of Flannery either, he really should qualify the “alarms” he cites. The quote for 25 meters from Hansen is for more than 100’s of years for now.
Current predictions for the end of this century are about the 1 meter mark.
Monckton will no doubt spin more crap which you guys soak up like brainless dopes.
05
The “current” (1993-2012) rate is a steady 3.1mm/year +/- 0.4mm/year (Uni of Colorado)which equates to 0.35m over the next 100 years.
We have a problem when the scientists’ predictions are not matched by what our planet is actually experiencing!
40
You have a problem thinking it is linear, when the melt rate is accelerating.
The current rise is at the higher end of forecasts.
http://www.skepticalscience.com/sea-level-rise-predictions.htm
02
.
Again Mr. Flim Flam Flannery has a go at all Australians.
Look at 08:57 in the video.
Who supports this crap – the WWF?? JB, MattyB.
MattyB – you should take him on your Mayoral meet the voters?
50
Alanah wouldn’t let him.
30
Please Lord Monckton just show them this graph its from the IPCC so it must be true. All ad hominem arguments re: extremes, ice melting, bears etc., can be thrown out the window.

.
Kenyan Runners slowed up by CAGW?
But wait – there’s a twist (like a cat on a
hotmild temperature tin roof),When in reality they’ve been doped.
Doped by the CAGW crew and the stupidity of people like Catamon, JB, NiceOne et al to start utilising idiot excuses like this.
50
This thread serves as a perfect example of just how rattled the eloquent Lord Monckton renders his many warmist critics. I’ve been quite pleasantly surprised at how many of them have broken cover from their normal lurker status to post a quick ad hom attack against the venerable Lord – this has merely confirmed what I’ve always known about Christopher Monckton: he’s a WMD in the sceptic’s armoury and a huge asset to our struggle against the pseudo-intellectual tyranny of the warmist fear mongers. Go Lord Monckton!
60
I’ll stand by David Evans, Rob Carter and Bill Kininmonth.
Monkton is on my side too. His calls are sound.
I do not have faith in the integrity of the names you cite.
The truth is not in the names, John. It is in the empirical data, and the scientific method.
Which Monckton continually refers us to. And alarmists continually short cut.
60
That (#43) was supposed to be a reply in the #29.1 thread. Don’t know what went wrong. MacOSX?
10
Is there any subject on which John Brookes is not an authority?
40
Eliza: An interesting link – the graph looks a bit like this
one:
http://data.giss.nasa.gov/gistemp/graphs_v3/Fig.C.gif
and also the one in Robert Cater’s book ‘Climate – the Counter Consensus’ on page 120.
You say: ‘All ad hominem arguments re: extremes, ice melting, bears etc., can be thrown out the window’ – agreed entirely.
30
Sadly, due to the UK media’s inbuilt ‘all the scientific experts say the science is settled’ brainwashing, we can’t seem to get the venerable Lord on our own tv or radio…
10
Unfortunately, all the heroes and villains come from the same production company. Free agents are not permitted. The game’s fixed.

Apparently there is a 2 for 1 Monckton/Wilders ticket deal going if you are interested.
