Ten years ago China was worried about race based genetic bioweapons — Hello Biotech Cold War?

For anyone trained in genetics the news that China warned of the potential for race based genetic bioweapons in 2011 is just stating what any good SciFi writer has known for years. But the macabre detail may help wake up the rest of the world to the idea “What if”. What would a New Biotech Cold War look like, and does it look like this?

China was spelling out some toe-curling recipes: warning that new biotech could pump up the virulence of infectious agents; it could neutralize antibiotics and vaccines, or potentially make the “target” population more vulnerable by disabling specific genes. Theoretically, adversaries could add genetic material covertly. How about some involuntary “Gene Therapy”coming to an airconditioning system near you?

But hey, they were just speculating right?

Funnily enough, a guy called Miles Yu was working for Mike Pompeo, advising him on China, and he raised the existence of the Chinese submission with the US State Department last December. Pompeo ordered an investigation, but they couldn’t find a copy of China’s original submission at the time (it’s only a global UN convention, yeah?). But when Joe Biden was sworn in, the investigation was shut down. (They don’t call him Xiden for nothing. ) But Sharri Markson, or someone at The Australian, found it.

And Mr Yu said: “it send chills up my spine”.

How’s that UN Treaty against Biological Weapons going?

UN logoBeijing’s own 2011 declaration to the UN, Biological Weapons Convention reads rather chillingly in hindsight. Though The Australian is not suggesting Covid-19 was a biological weapon or that China has carried out an attack.

China’s warning on man-made viruses

by Sharri Markson and Jack Hazelwood, The Australian

The Chinese government admitted research to create man-made viruses posed “a huge latent threat to mankind” – and said “accidental mistakes in biotech laboratories can place mankind in great danger”…

Chinese authorities also spoke of the “increased threat of biological weapons” and discussed using viruses as “genetic weapons” saying systems biology “can also create the potential for biological weapons based on genetic differences between races”…

..research could “significantly increase the destructiveness of biological weapons” by “making biological attacks more stealthy”.

So there was China in 2011 admitting to the Biological Weapons Convention that there might be trouble complying with the rules. So much for UN State Party agreements which grew out of a 1972 declaration, and is now a major treaty that is reviewed every five years.

By 2016, China was talking about a more sophisticated problem:

It says “foreign genes or viruses can be introduced into the target population asymptomatically by means of gene-therapy vectors, enabling a biological weapon attack to be mounted covertly”.

This could mean a two stage event where stage one was silently introducing a section of code to a target population, that could be used later.

And admissions like this in 2016 sit a little awkwardly with 2020 protests that lab leaks don’t need investigation:

“Accidental mistakes in biotech laboratories can place mankind in great danger,” it states.

Righto.

Hands up who thinks UN inspectors would be able to stop clandestine government laboratories from creating Black Death 2.0 even if the UN inspectors wanted to…

Even if they had an implementation body to assess compliance, which they don’t, they would also need an enforcement process.

Time to ditch the UN, and get serious about assessing the threat and how to respond.

Just another cold war

The weapons are different, but the rules stay the same.

Translate a few tactics from the last cold war:

Firstly, there’s always deterrence — misbehaving nations need to feel some heat.

We don’t need to know if the virus was deliberately released, we already know that China did not play good global citizen in warning the world and stopping the spread in January 2020, when it could have been stopped so easily. Global trade and travel sanctions are a threat to a corrupt leadership. There should be a price when a nation doesn’t report a new contagion with honesty and openness.

Secondly, there’s Part I of the Biotech Arms Race —  You have one nasty virus, we have 1,000:  The MAD doctrine in the cold war meant both sides had obscenely powerful weapons to unleash. The problem was and is that destructive weapons sometimes destruct. Nuclear accidents happen, and so do laboratory leaks. Not a sweetness-and-light kind of world to live in. But it might slow down a nation tempted to post out a new Pox.

Thirdly, there’s Part II of the Arms Race: Build the “Star Wars” of Biotech: For every nasty virus there will be ways to intercept. While China was dreaming of bioweapons in 2011, I was advising we dump the Clean Green renewables fantasies and get into the real medical revolution instead. All that money on windmills and expensive green electrons could be spent curing diseases.

We need a mastery of medical science. That means finding faster ways to detect new viruses,  and building molecular tools that chop up viral sequences. We can already screen antiviral cheap chemicals in a matter of weeks (though we might want to clean up the medical swamp bureaucracy that stops us using them). We could get very good with CRISPR and go right into cells and cut the offending code out, or we might swamp the code with anti-sense RNA that sticks to offending sequences and renders them harmless. Then there are monoclonal antibodies, or nanobodies that do the work our immune system is supposed to do, but in the lab, pre-prepared, rather than waiting to make it happen in a sick body.

We have so many tools, but right now, they are the planes and guns of pre-World War I.

Covid is a baby biotech weapon. The next ones could be so much nastier.

This reminds me of the alledged conversation between the US. president and the Russian president back in the Cold War years . Not sure which one said what, however the drift was ” Ah Mr. President, we have enough nuclear weapons to destroy the world 5 times over. The response, Ah, Mr President, surely once is enough”

China was not allowed to sign the treaty. Now you say they are not abiding by it.

This prompted me to wonder if the Chinese bothered to biologically decontaminate their Zhurong rover they recently landed on Mars.

The Americans and Europeans (attempted landing) both went to extreme measures to decontaminate their landing spacecraft of all possible biologiCal contaminants like bacteria and viruses etc..

I’d hate to think the Chicomms were contaminating Mars as well as the earth with biological contaminants.

What do you mean they weren’t allowed to sign the treaty?

(Note reference 2 below is dated 2005 and reference 3 is 2012.)

    https://www.nti.org/learn/countries/china/biological/

China is a party to the major international agreements regulating biological weapons, having acceded to the Geneva Protocol in 1952 and the Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention (BTWC) in 1984. [1] China was a victim of large-scale biological warfare (BW) attacks during the Japanese occupation from 1937 to 1945, heavily influencing its later nonproliferation efforts. Beijing declared research on biodefense, and the country’s growing biotechnology industry provides it with substantial dual-use capabilities. However, China has consistently maintained that it does not have an offensive BW program.

Past reports by the U.S. departments of State and Defense have alleged that China maintained a small-scale offensive biological weapons program even after joining the BTWC, and that Chinese entities have transferred controlled biological weapons-related items to nations of proliferation concern, such as Iran. [2] However, the most recent U.S. assessment cites no evidence of any Chinese violation of BTWC obligations, although it notes China’s potential dual-use activities. [3]

I find it interesting that both Fauci and China claim their research is to create and provide defenses against such biological weapons by researching what could be created and thereby create vaccines for those things that could be created.

How has that worked out in practice then? Zero results, zero application of anything, zero defenses. If anything, they created the monster that got lose and they’ve got nothing to control it even though that was the very reason for creating it in the fist place. It’s all BS.

This research goes back more than a few years now. Explain why it wasn’t a waste of time, Fauci !!

no they did not, the treaty specifically excluded them. And in any event all signatories had a 2 year window. They have “ratified” the treaty, but that is not the same.

      I will accept apologies now

China is party to the agreements established by the treaty and their ruling class has even ratified them. That they were one of many countries that didn’t sign the original treaty is irrelevant.

Don’t for a moment think that the reason China wouldn’t abide by those agreements is because they didn’t sign the original treaty. As I said, whether or not they were an original signatory is irrelevant, especially to the CCP who does whatever is in their best interest regardless of what any piece of paper might say.

In the eyes of the CCP, China first is by whatever means necessary. There are all sorts of laws on paper that make intellectual property theft illegal and this doesn’t stop them either. This why there’s no middle ground between America first and America last. To their credit, the CCP does put its own interests first, as the sane leadership of any country will do, if not for their citizens, at least for themselves.

There are always unintended consequences. Everything can be intentionally misused.

It is rational to conceive that an intentional, sequential, series, of different viral infections can accomplish an end result that would not be generally possible in a covert or overt single event. Stealth biology in steps.

Be cautious of applying technology that is not fully understood. Beware of sequential events.

Let’s not be naive about things.

China Is National Security Threat No. 1
Resisting Beijing’s attempt to reshape and dominate the world is the challenge of our generation.

    By John Ratcliffe

    Dec. 3, 2020 1:20 pm ET

As Director of National Intelligence, I am entrusted with access to more intelligence than any member of the U.S. government other than the president. I oversee the intelligence agencies, and my office produces the President’s Daily Brief detailing the threats facing the country. If I could communicate one thing to the American people from this unique vantage point, it is that the People’s Republic of China poses the greatest threat to America today, and the greatest threat to democracy and freedom world-wide since World War II.

The intelligence is clear: Beijing intends to dominate the U.S. and the rest of the planet economically, militarily and technologically. Many of China’s major public initiatives and prominent companies offer only a layer of camouflage to the activities of the Chinese Communist Party.

I call its approach of economic espionage “rob, replicate and replace.” China robs U.S. companies of their intellectual property, replicates the technology, and then replaces the U.S. firms in the global marketplace.

    [..]

China also steals sensitive U.S. defense technology to fuel President Xi Jinping’s aggressive plan to make China the world’s foremost military power. U.S. intelligence shows that China has even conducted human testing on members of the People’s Liberation Army in hope of developing soldiers with biologically enhanced capabilities. There are no ethical boundaries to Beijing’s pursuit of power.

Yeah, no kidding. I brought this up in a recent comment. Cue X-Files, Season 9. (Yes, please, more Lucy Lawless!)

Oh, and for these “Super Soldiers”; if they deploy weapons like this, it’ll only be because the CCP and the PRC (I know…6 of 1, etc…) have an inoculations for their own. Or Gene “therapy” that makes them immune. You better damn well believe they would have those as well, before setting them loose on the planet as they did this one.

And that “medical mastery” Jo mentioned; first things first. Bring ALL of our manufacturing of simple drugs like antibiotics back to our shores,

As My President Trump wanted to do!! If he hadn’t been removed and JoeBama hadn’t been sworn in we would already be moving good and hard in that direction.

I hope there is no ill intent in COVID vaccines but the potential for mutation of human cells is a real possibility.

This crisis may well be some geneticists wet dream – or maybe I’m a conspiracy theorist.

“I hope there is no ill intent in COVID vaccines …”

Imagine this: a treatment for a disease which causes four times the rate of hospitalisation than the disease itself.

This is exactly what the vaccination of young people costs – four times the risk and suffering from the cure as from the illness:

“According to the CDC data for every 100,000 young people vaccinated 700 will require medical care and 200 will be hospitalized. Put another way, 200 young people will suffer side-effects that require hospitalization for every 100,000 vaccinations administered. However, also according to the CDC data, the CDC estimates that only about 50 out of 100,000 adolescents have EVER been hospitalized for Covid-related illness.”

When the treatment for a disease very few will ever suffer from turns out to be four times worse than that disease, the only explanation as to why it is not halted immediately is that ill intent is driving the program.

      How else to explain it?

Think of that scenario as analogous to, for instance, land mines. Better to tie up your armies with the wounded and not kill them. That strategy ties up many more troops for a very cheap price.

The data which you quote is incorrect. Why?

Covid is a tactical weapon. The RNA vaccines are better than 90% effective in stopping covid because they can control the shape of the thing that they get our cells to create to train our immune system. Covid cannot change the shape of its spike.

Covid as a tactical weapon does not work if covid can be effectively stopped by the RNA vaccines or Vitamin D supplements.

Stop picking sides. We are under attack. Do you understand the reality we are in? We are under attack. Biological, economic, spies, organized take over/sabotage of our universities, take over of the media/Hollywood companies, organized campaign to get us fighting about past events that cannot be changed… Rather than deal with the reality now.

Do you get the big picture?

We need to wake up the Left wing/Right wing, get them to stop fighting (living in the past) to defend our countries. What other option is there?

Vaccination data from the Canadian, province of Alberta. The data is up-to-date as of end of day June 27, 2021.

        • 4,198,463 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Alberta
        • 71.7 percent of 12+ population has received at least one dose (61% total population)
        • 38.6 percent of 12+ population fully vaccinated (32.9% total population)

The province of Alberta is run by a sort of old school conservative party. Most of the 4.2 million vaccines given in Alberta were Pfizer. There was one death associated with Astra Zeneca), to quantify the problem.

        https://www.alberta.ca/stats/covid-19-alberta-statistics.htm#vaccinations

        https://www.alberta.ca/stats/covid-19-alberta-statistics.htm
639 adverse events following immunization (AEFI) have been reported to Alberta Health. This represents 632 people, and 674 symptoms.
        381 related to Pfizer
        145 related to Moderna
        113 related to AstraZeneca

Technically Covid can change its spike. It is currently testing out millions of different spike shapes right now and the one that both sticks to ACE2 but doesn’t stick to our antibodies and t cells will be a winner, and will go forth and neutralize a lot of the vaccinations. This will be the immune escape event we are afraid of. (But I’m pretty sure you know all that William…:-))

            In reply to:

“Technically Covid can change its spike.”

Yes covid can and will change however …. evolution limits/selects the change. From an evolutionary standpoint, changes which make covid more infectious are selected.

I believe we will find out, that Covid cannot change the shape of its spike and be highly infectious.

What I have heard is the shape of covid’s spike and location of the ACE-2 connector on the spike, are one of the key parameters that determines covid’s ability to be highly infectious.

I did wonder why any nation was allowed to conduct biowarfare research. I’d assumed there was an international agreement made a long time ago to ban it. As it turns out there is no such ban, only a ban to produce it in large quantities for stockpiling and distribution to other nations. Sneaky really. It proves the UN and other international bodies didn’t really want to ban the research in the first place. Disgusting to say the least. Perhaps they thought it was necessary to allow the research to provide “balance” just as is the case for MAD wrt nukes. Goes to show we just can’t ourselves. Just as in Terminator 2 where John Connor says “We’re not gonna make it, are we? Humans, I mean, The Terminator says “It’s in your nature to destroy yourselves”. How right that is.

Israel had prided itself on reaching herd immunity, after about 65 per cent of the population – over 80 per cent of Israelis aged over 16 – received two doses of the Pfizer vaccine.
But the Delta variant has driven a surge in cases, with more than 100 people testing positive each day for six days in a row.
“They are mostly asymptomatic or have very mild illness, they do not require treatment in hospital – so far – so the vaccine is doing its job, but we do see that they are able to pass the disease on.”

Interesting news: Lisbon Court Rules Only 0.9% Of ‘Verified Cases’ Died Of COVID, Numbering 152, Not 17,000 As Claimed

Peter, the CDC has estimated that only 6000 people in America have died from Covid without any other co morbidities. At the beginning of this wave the method of recording was changed. If someone died from gunshot wounds, heart attacks, cancer, run over by a bus and the doctor SUSPECTED that they may have Covid 19 then their death was registered as Covid 19 being the primary cause of death.

I don’t have the resources to check this for authenticity is there someone out there who could investigate?

“GlaxoSmithKline is (coincidentally) managed by the finance division of Black Rock, which (coincidentally) manages the finances of the Open Foundation Company (Soros Foundation), which (coincidentally) manages the French AXA!

“Soros (coincidentally) owns the German company Winterthur, which (coincidentally) built a Chinese laboratory in Wuhan and was bought by the German Allianz, which (coincidentally) has Vanguard as a shareholder, who (coincidentally) is a shareholder of Black Rock,” which (coincidentally) controls central banks and manages about a third of global investment capital.

“Black Rock” is also (coincidentally) a major shareholder of MICROSOFT, owned by Bill Gates, who (coincidentally) is a shareholder of Pfizer (which – remember? Sells a miracle vaccine) and (coincidentally) is now the first sponsor of the ‘WHO!

Today’s test: Know Your Pandemic from Your Seasonal Flu.
Q1 How many cases would support the application of the classification “Pandemic”?
    a) 30,529
    b) 221,853
Q2 How many deaths would support the application of the classification “Pandemic”?
    a) 910
    b) 1,255

If you answered b) to both then do not pass go and do not collect your free mRNA liquid.

Australia’s figures for the global pandemic that is covid-19 are both choice a). The b) figures all relate to Australia’s seasonal flu outbreak of 2017.

Another interesting comparison difference is the death rate by state. Victoria has led the nation in deaths (820) with NSW (54) in second, WA (9) third and QLD (7) a close fourth as far as covid-19 is concerned. Back in 2017 VIC came in second (277) to NSW (494) and was closely followed with QLD (264) in third position for flu fatalities. Has NSW got better natural immunity or VIC got lower?

Over recent months I have often thought that Fauci’s justification for the Gain of function funding at Wuhan was that it was good research to counter any biowarfare. That he proceeded with the funding of GOF because he knew it was the right thing to do. However, what was not considered by either he or the US NIH was the prospect of a leak or intended release of COVID. For me, I think the Chinese (lets say the CCP) outsmarted him. Early on in COVID I can remember Trump saying how 3 wise people came to visit him with dire warnings about the evolving COVID situation. Fauci, Redfield and Birx were the 3 wise people. Did they know or suspect at the time that COVID-19 (SARS 2 back then) was PROBABLY a manipulated/ modified virus intended as a biowarfare agent. My gut tells me, yes.

It is my experience that those overly gifted in the ways of technology, I include medical in that, and qualify for geek status are overly ungifted in human understanding. I once worked for a national communications carrier and our head office engineers were housed in the Philips building, as in Philips Communications. And why was it officially called the Philips building – well because Philips Communications had their head office engineers and technicians working there and had naming rights. Yes, of course there is more…. our smaller group of engineers and technicians shared one of the floors with Philips personnel. I asked one of our engineers how annoying it must be clearing your desk of all papers every night. I got back a strange look followed by “we don’t do that – as engineers WE have a gentleman’s agreement…”

“A gentleman’s agreement is an agreement between persons who are not gentlemen none of whom intend to keep to the agreement.”

The UN looks to be of zero benefit to Australia, the organisation seems to have been comprehensively diverted from serving the world to serving the interest of the one country that can bribe the majority of small countries to vote with it, i am sure their are other bad actors, but at the moment the country ruling the UN is China. Why are we playing this stupid game !

How about some involuntary “Gene Therapy”coming to an airconditioning system near you?

This scenario looks uncannily similar to the one in the author Tom Clancy’s techno-thriller novel

    Rainbow Six

. Here the evil, Horizon biotechnology corporation releases the aptly named Shiva, a binary bioweapon into the fogging apparatus at the Sydney Olympics with the object of spreading it world-wide in order to kill off all the worlds population leaving only the select behind to enjoy a utopian world gone back to nature. Fortunately, the counterterrorism heroes of Rainbow Six just manage to stop the release in the nick of time.
Is it time to bring the Rainbow Six counter-terrorism team back into service? It’s going to be a tough assignment. The viral bioweapon has already been released and the jabby counterweapon is also looking suspicious.

Legionnaires originates from the water in air conditioning towers. Most due to failure of the water towers, not being cleaned/serviced regularly. eg large shopping centres or clubs. Policing has reduced the risk of infections over the past 5-10yrs.

Seems China is concerned they lack biodiversity in their population and fear a DNA exploit by western nations is a possibility. The solution then is to develop biodiversity within their population which of course would mean they would no longer be Chinese. Or, …

Think about that “or” for a bit and what it might mean to an insecure paranoid race over a billion strong. Because that “or” is what they’re doing with their silk road program and other programs around the world to seed those places with not just Chinese money but Chinese people. Subtle expansionism, much?
